Remember Babs from P. Sh*tty's original "Making the Band"? They went on to form Da Band, which disbanded within just a few months. What year was that, 2003? Well who knows what she's been doing since then. And no one really cares. BUT, she suddenly became newsworthy when she sat down with DVD folks "Sub 0," with whom she vented a little frustration. Soon after that footage surfaced, speculation began pointing fingers at Remy Ma as Bab's verbal punching bag. However, Babs dismissed referring to any particular rapper while speaking to this dude in the video below, saying:
"I don't got no problem with Remy. The nigga asked me a question, who was I talking about I said I was talkin about whoever... I aint battlin none of yall bitches. So if you go in the studio and you make a record about me, when I see you, I'm going in your mouth. Bottom line."
Maybe she should consider doing a real rap battle. Dealing with Diddy, that's the only way she'll ever get some money in her pocket.
I don't even know if she's still down with The Curse. But then again, once you sign with Diddy, you're bound forever.
_______________________________________________________________________________

Wow. It's about time. The kid Ali Vegas has successfully bounced back from two failed record deals-- one alongside Cory Gunz on Tommy Matolla's Casablanca, and the other with Trackmasters/Columbia-- and is now set for the release of an LP via Rich Soil Entertainment, with whom he signed a deal back in '06.
Often dubbed as one of the most underrated MCs in NY, the lyrical mixtape MC, who hails from Jamaica, Queens-- but resides in South Ozone Park--is ready to hit the shelves in February of next year.
No further details have emerged as of yet. I'll keep my eye out.
We'll see how this goes.

Babs is whack.
Babs is my girl.......but WTF is she talkin about?
If u gone go at someone just be real and say wtf u feelin
Must be a REAL SLOW news day when u start talking about Ali Vegas getting a deal..I thought you'd @ least have new music or something.
I think we some paranoid ass people we always after some ficticious nigga thats out to get ours whoever is talking about me i'll handle them that's some 4th grade shit, and of course there is always going to be some one attempting to take your part or piece of the pie it's just the nature of natural selection, but talking about beef don't make it nothin but baby food. Female rappers from NY have never gotten along, the only times I've seen two females from NY co-exist is salt and peppa. Damn it just seems like no one can get they shit together. And I don't think anyone was really thinking about babs until someone went to the grave yard and attempted to Jesus her career. She's a wrap leave her in the casket. Unfortunately this corny shit's coming right out of the Brook I apologize for that.
REAL TALK I'M GLAD SHE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE, BECAUSE DUDE FROM SUB 0 DVD EDITED IT LIKE SHE HAD BEEF WITH REMY MA. WHEN IN REALITY WE KNOW REMY STAY THROWING SUBLIME'S AT FEMALE RAPPERS ALL THE TIME.BABS GOT THAT HEAT SHE DOES NOT NEED TO START NO BEEF WITH NO BODY TO WIN. ONE BROOKLYN IN DA BUILDIN

Hip-Hop Fridays: New Generation of Dance Music Ignores Artistic History Of Rap by Bryan Kennedy
A few weeks ago, I was riding around in my car listening to satellite radio. I turned to one of the rap stations to hear DJ UNK's and Wine-O's newest song, "Hokey Pokey," playing.
As I turned up the volume I realized the music was the old elementary school song with a weak attempt to add basic rap lyrics.
That's where I draw the line.
After DJ UNK's success last year with songs such as "Walk It Out" and "2 Step" I never knew that he would reach down to this level, but I was way wrong.
The continuing craze of "dance move rap" has yet to diminish since last year. With the growing popularity of "Chicken Noodle Soup" last year, by far the worst of them all, the new craze of this genre has continued to control our airwaves.
The recent release of Soulja's Boy's hit single, "Crank Dat," continues this new sensation of "dance move rap." Once again, an emcee lacking in creativity makes a decent beat and then adds a new dance move to it. This simple recipe is what Soulja Boy and others have used to sling shot themselves onto the rap scene.
It's sad to see that rappers such as Kanye West and T.I., whose songs have traditionally included more significant meaning, are being pushed down in record sales and top-10 countdowns because of this new type of rap music.
West's most recent CD features two such songs of meaning. His first song, "Stronger," leads off with the lyrics of, "That which doesn't kill me can only make me stronger." The message behind the whole song is, of course, that what doesn't take you out can make you a better person. This kind of lyrical message is predominantly vacant in all of these new "dance move rap" songs.
In West's second single, "Can't Tell Me Nothing," he speaks about the arrogance that came with his early success, and his belief that money was the key to everything.
This message is also vital to any young adult. Even when you do get money, it won't solve all your problems.
Another lyric states, "To whom much is given, much is tested." This is another line in West's song that speaks volumes, and doesn't need explanation.
West even has a line in a song that asks its listeners, "Does anyone make any real stuff anymore?" This just goes to show that the real rappers know that this new genre of rap music isn't "real."
On the other hand, there is a place for this type of music. In clubs around the country the majority of "dance move rap" songs I have listed are top hits and are played numerous times throughout the night.
Clubs like these are the natural home this particular genre, but there is a problem when this music tries to take the place of "real" rap.
Even the world of hip-hop has previously held itself to certain artistic standards that are threatened, if not blatantly discarded, by this new genre.
It is scary to think that the days of old rap music over; the days of poetry put to music are over. I don't want to think this, but with rappers such as DJ UNK and Soulja Boy taking over the airwaves with their music, there is a possibility that this rap music could overtake rap with true lyrical content.
For now, we true rap fans have to take a back seat until this new craze is over and outdated.

Read your email. Also as far as the garbage music being produced everyone realises this even people you wouldn't expect. I was out in Jersey on a sale (I sell pharmacuticals Legal ones) Anyways I was talking to a Doctor who I have recently moved to the level of associate anyways he's a real silver spoon type kid, trips to wherever you need a passport to go to since he was little; anyways I'm chillin with him in his office and we the same age 27 so he says to me do you listen to Hip Hop? I go yeah I am Hip Hop he says to me that he can't stand it anymore and that he wished that he could go back to the 96 era. He totally through me back because I didn't expect it out of this guy, turns out he's got straight classics in his Range disc changer, and he goes in on how no one says anything in Hip Hop today exept Kanye and the Roots and a couple of others. I thought to myself if this White dude who is an observer of hip hop and fan can see that the culture is suffering things are worse than I thought. Problem is you only have a few holding the torch to bring the essence back into the game because it's so saturated by ring tone Dr. Suess rappers. It's saddening.

"Black on black cime was why before our time"

Thank you Willie Lynch!
@Big Sun
I think it's irresponsible to believe that our words and the content of our speech does not impact our actions and beliefs.
If you take a little kid, and you tell that kid every morning, noon and night.."you're ugly, you're ugly, noone loves you, you're ugly"....that is kid is going to grow up believing that they are ugly and nobody likes them.
And think about this too....we are more receptive to learning and retain information more easily when it is attached to a song. It's proven. Take for example....how did YOU learn your A-B-Cs?
So logically, and scientifically...it only makes sense that when we subject ourselves to a constant barrage of nonsense, we reciprocate that nonsense in our lives around us.
Then you have the circle that is today. And I BELIEVE that is why it is important that the messages taught is cleaned up, to break that cycle.
Now...to take it a step further into the spiritual realm, I believe that existence was created by Words. God "spoke" and it happened. We were created in His likeness, therefore by our words....we have the power to affect change. Whether it be positive or negative. And while I am not blaming rap music, I find it impossible to beleive that the current culture we live in, and the things we allow into our minds and heart by way of our ears and mouth, I find it impossible to accept that they have no impact on the results we are seeing today.
Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
That is also why a person must "confess with their mouth" that Jesus is Lord. That is also why a demon can never say "Jesus is Lord." There is power in the tongue and the spoken word. It all depends on it's use.
Even if you don't believe in Christ, be patient and read this and meditate on the truth of it. It's from my favorite book.
James 3: 1Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.
3When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
7All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. 10Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11Can both fresh water and salt[a] water flow from the same spring? 12My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
CHRIST BLESS!

I'll say this if your weak minded then anything can be said to you and you will follow. I came up on everytype of HIP HOp there is from the 1 2 3 this are the Breaks to Jungle Brothers all the way to Jezzy and Rick Ross and I never once in my life said to myself let me go move this keys or sell this to get my money up cause this certain rapper said he did this. First off life lessons should start at home with the parents even if it's just one raising you. Don't let this music dictate how you live your life. Now on another note there are some young folk out htere that will live there life word for word on what these rappers say, so it is aproblem for some but I know deep sown there are a lot of strong minded youngin's that know this is just entertainment and tht's it.
My bad that quote I used wasn't from Kool Mo Dee, It was from the gapped tooth nigga from Stetsasonic. I think his name was MC Delight

I think so, anytime U have rappers who value having material things, and promote ignorance, it begins 2 reflect within the community, I let some cats peep NY Oil's new cd, them mu'fuckas said he was wack, I asked them Y they felt that way, & their response was "nobody wanna hear that shit, we all about gettin' money, that's Y we fux with niggas like Jeezy, Lil' Wayne, etc." so I asked them if they felt like that kind of music gives the wrong impression of a negative portrayal of the Black community, by telling the youth that education isn't necessary 2 get money, one of them said if "U got money, Y give a fuck about school?" I told him like Wise Intelligent said "It's not smart 2 be dumb"

So them darts just bounce off the breast plate of righteousness I'm sportin for Christ.
You know what's funny to me? That these dudes try so hard to get at me, and it is counter productive to their cause. For example, I've had two people contact me off of the blog on myspace asking me "yo, what's up with your "F*** God" posts"...and what that ends up doing, is it lets me break it down with them and build with them on that next level. One of the dudes I was already connected with in ministry, just up the street in Austin. Then I got one last night. And Praise God...that dude last night is just up the street in Dallas, so I'm prayin that through all them stans nonsense that this is another relationship built for the kingdom. Because see...it takes a real man to come address something like that to another man asking "What's up with all your "F God" talk"...and THAT'S the kinda cats we are connected with in SEALS. Folks not afraid to step up and call out wrong as wrong, and willing and ready to address the nonsense.
So as the stans continue playin, the Spirit is at work. I really do pray though that their heart convict so heavily and that they begin to feel stupid and pitiful for taking part in such lame actions. Even not on the spiritual level, but just on the real regular person level. It's just a lame action, evidence of a weak heart and even weaker mind.

And while I am not blaming rap music, I find it impossible to beleive that the current culture we live in, and the things we allow into our minds and heart by way of our ears and mouth, I find it impossible to accept that they have no impact on the results we are seeing today.

i would have to disagree with this for one reason, this is 2007 and rap is trash but when you got back to the 90s when rappers was talking about cop killa and shit it wasnt a spike in police killings, and when the videos was in REAL project hall ways and had REAL glocks and shits in the vids.....basically the music is dumb now i dont think its as "violent" or whatever like back in the day. the reason things is going on in the world is because of shit thats going on in the world rap and hip hop have ZERO to do with it cause if it did there would be blacks in jena right now acting the damn fool. now is the music keeping us dumb and meek (to inherit a damn earth) yeah.

if you got all these guys that visit this site and be telling you about the fuck god comments and stuff why dont you tell them to get on when your on to balance the board out?
@Brooklyn
The change and affect is not always going to be to the extreme that if the music says "kill cops", then immediately cops are killed. It doesn't happen to the point of over the top ignorance to where it completely emcompasses your mind and mind controls you to do stupid mess. But when you are conditioned over a period of time to accept something which was once unacceptable...as acceptable, then it is reflected around you. That goes with anything. It used to be you couldn't hear a cuss word on public television, but over a period of time...the bar is slowly being raised, and now it's normal.
Put it like this...when you riding around smokin a blunt, who was you listening to? Me...it was Nas because I could vibe with him to that level. When we was gettin ready to go bust a head, who was we riding to? Tupac. When I was chillin out, just bein cool...who was I listenin to? Probably Biggie.
Why? Even Prodigy had an album titled "Mood Musik"..right? What's hard to see about that? If music influences your mood, or you listen to certain type of music when you are in a certain type of mood...why?
So by our own admission to the things I say above, then how can we turn around and say our "mood" does not affect our "actions" or what we determine to be acceptable or "normal."
I"m bout to go eat...I'll be back for more intelligent conversation in about 15. This burger ain't got a chance! lol
