>>>>>>>>>>REWIND: "If Kanye come that day he come that day. I mean, that will be great if he actually stays on that day. I think these people are smart. I think he's smart, too. And I think they'll move. But I'm coming September 11th. Jay's not gonna let that happen anyway."-- 50 Cent, as posted 7-20-07

According to Billboard, Kanye banged it out with over 950,000 copies sold, and Curt lagged behind at 690,000. As of yesterday reports were still swirling about his whining and complaining; Curtis latest excuse was that Def Jam bought madd copies of Ye's Graduation, but let's be real: even if they did, it's not like Interscope wouldn't do the same. And both companies are under the same umberella anyhow.
And I'll hate on 15 Cents as much as I want. Don't like it? Tough.
Check the news section in the top right for those official Soundscan numbers.
Tomorrow, we'll talk about how 15 Cents got tired of blaming Interscope and shifted his scapegoat to IDJ. Friday, we'll have a celebration post on Curtis being 15 Cents' last album ever. Saturday, I'll do an additional post with exclusive coverage with some commentary from random Queens residents on why they had that big ass "G-Unot" billboard on Jamaica Avenue. Sunday, we'll have an e-sermon on why "baring false witness" in rap rhymes will lead you to your ultimate downfall. Monday, I'll re-post this week's blogs as a recap for those who missed.
Don't like it? Jerk off!!!!!!! Cause I could give a two f*cks.

Hovito called in to Entertainment Weekly to speak on both 50 and Kanye's album sales. Skip that. Fastforward to the response that Hov gave when asked about Kanye's song "Big Brother" [LISTEN], in which Kanye rhymes "My big brother... used to be Dame and Bigg's brother." A lot of people so badly wanted to misinterpret this song as a dis.
"I think it's a fair portrayal from a little brother's perspective," Jay said. "You know, you've got your big brother and you want to go out with him, he's like, 'Nah, get back in the house!' Things like that, until you come of age. At Roc-A-Fella, we've always lived by tough love. Everyone knows that. It's nothing given. Everyone has to work for theirs, and that's how you make strong individuals, by not carrying them. That's how you make a Kanye West. You make him fight for his position."
That's funny. 'Cause Dame was the one that gave Kanye his chance at stardom, not Hov. During his infamous interview with MTV some time ago, Kanye even admitted that his choice to leave Dame and stick with Hov was an act of betrayal.
Hov spoke on the "I Get Money" remix:
EW: I just heard your verse on 50's ''I Get Money'' remix last night. How did that come together?"I just wanted to show that we're not enemies. It's a great story for this, you're the first person to ask, so you got great timing! [50 Cent] called me to ask for the remix, and I told him he couldn't put the remix out until the first week came. I didn't want it to affect any type of numbers. [Laughs] So as you see, it came out the 17th, when the Soundscan cycle is finished. So just to show, I'm still competing! We're not enemies, we're just competing."

damn kanye beat 50 by that much. and all that sh*t he was talkin.
Curtis lost
Mayn ...
HIP HOP WON!!!
And i haven't copped Kanye's album yet.
Oh yeah and btw, Jay Z was Kanye's mentor. Ye was the won who learn't to rhyme of Jay Z and has guided through production of each won of his consecutive cd's since.
HIP HOP WON!!!
Today, should be a national holiday.
*edit*
one not won.
Seems a little "FISHY"....First I bought both albums off of iTunes...Curtis is actually better...Second if this was a game of samples Kanye would have used his last life line on Late Reg...way too many samples...Thrid T.I. sold 500K + first week and 50 only does 650+ that seems ODD thats like both of the towers going down on the 11th ok I see but my gut tells me "NAW ITS NOT LIKELY"...How does a guy who has sold 30 mill records can't out sell Louie V pump pusher on one of the greatest hyped days of our hiphop generation...JUST LIKE THE OTHER 11TH THIS WAS A INSIDE JOB....2 months from now Curtis will have out sold Graduation...

This wasn't an inside job....this is a change in the Hip Hop industry itself. When people used like to listen to gangsta rap or mainstream rap that was "hood", 50 Cent was definitely the man. However, the Don Imus controversy along with other controversies has caused the listen to look for other things that wasn't your typical b**ch, ni99az, and h0es/i pushing drugs and shooting ni99az. To quote Nickels, ""It's collapsing because they can no longer fool the white kids." "There's only so much redundancy anyone can take." It made sense for Kanye to beat 50 since his type of rap style doesn't allow for the redundancy that has plagued Hip-Hop. Fiddy shouldn't whine, he needs to change his whole game. And co-sign Yatusabes, HIP HOP has indeed won and saved the music industry.

I don't think it's that unlikely that a once extremely popular artist with monster sales suddenly less than expected. Some of the biggest names in history have experience that kind of slump:
Some Examples:
1. Michael Jackson (The Thriller album sold of 27 million copies (in the 80s), The Invincible album (in the early 2000s) barely went platinum)
2. Mariah Carey (she basically flopped with the Glitter and Charmbracelet albums)
3. Whitney Houston (her last album flopped).
4. Janet Jackson (superstar, sold lots of records, but her last two albums were considered flops).
It happens all the time. So I don't think it's all that odd.
Besides if you look at Kanye's track record, it's not all that surprising. His record sales have been increasing with each album. The first sold over 600K, the second one sold over 860K, and now this one has sold 957K. One could just say that Kanye has just become more popular. Everyone has there time to shine.
History has shone that people can come up with huge numbers. No one was really checking for artists like Norah Jones or Usher...but they both end up debuting with 1mil+...so it happens.
I think 50 Cent just made things bad for himself by dogging Kanye so much...all that "Kanye's not on my level", "Kanye won't ever sell as much as me", "There's no way Kanye will beat him in the first week sales"...it was like asking to get beat. He put himself so high up on a pedestal, and forgot he could be knocked off of it.
This battle goes to Kanye, we'll see who wins the war. Kanye's on the come up, and I'm happy for him. Who knows? maybe Kanye will be on 50 Cent business status in a few years...sometimes the slow burn is better. Until then 50 Cent, can console himself with his MANY millions in the bank.
Can anyone be considered a loser with those sales. Anybody in Hip Hop right now would love to have those numbers 50 put up. When it is all said and done both will have platinum albums by the end of October if not sooner. So NEITHER LOST....and if it wasn't for 50 the sales would have not been this high....this is from a person who never listens to 50...dont like fake thug/gangsta/R&B/told jarule not to do it but i can do it rappers....
I agree with Dominik Young people are tired of rappers talking about gangster stuff and Kanye is a breath of fresh air.
damn, kanye did the damn thing, I aint hating on no-one, i think both albums were disappointing, but as far as lyrical content, kanye takes it, obviously fif got one or two bangers, but you can't keep getting monster sales if you puttin out average material, whats that saying about you can fool some of the people some of the time, but shit, 600,000 aint a disaster, but 900,000???, I'm a sceptic so that definately sounds fishy to me, having said that, that stronger song appealed to all colours, where 50 did nothing new, but in the hip hop sales slump, 900,000 is crazy, but make that paper son, thats my word
@Reckless:
50 must quirted in ya eye then hid the warm wash cloth so you couldn't wash it out...From a so-called "true hip hop head" I aint heard no comments on the nigga 50
s actual album...All I hear you talking about is sales...
That nut in your eye got you blinded by the fact the not only did these two niggas just revive the sales of hip hop but they've also brought the attention away from popcorn rap and back to real hip hop...
Like it or not "CURTIS" is absolutely a true hip hop album..Hard rhymes and hard beats...Kanye's album is real hip hop too...It's a good day for hip hop..
If you ho ass would wipe some of 50's baby batter out ya eyes you would see that.
stop hating yo..50 sold 2 million worldwide its on vivendis website..vivendi owns the universal music group and both kanye and 50 are on that so..stop the hate..50 won in worldwide sales..kanye won us..50 won overall..stop the madness people
Congrats to kanye!
An example of people coming out and supporting real hiphop instead of the same bullshit that's been plagueing our eardrums for the past I don't know...
South said curtis better than graduation??.....you must still wear boss jeans and take the small bus to school..
Fuck outta here........

"SOUTH" makes sense it was just strange for numbers to come so late...Normally we know Sunday or Monday morning...Things just felt funny I understand an artist losing his shine but 50 has muthafukas drinking Vitiman Water as if it was Holy Water...His appeal is so much greater than a Kanye...Ye has no movie with Deniro in the works no Cierra photos on every gossip site...WHERE IS ROSIE O'DONALD WHEN U NEED HER TO EXPOSE THE TRUTH...
Its the first week! damn! I know Kanye still might outsell 50 but it is still the first week. Holla at me next year when they get the first years sales but you might not be able to because SOHH might be defunct. in other words, both 50 and Kanye's album went gold first week. better than that faker T.I.
"And I'll hate on 15 Cents as much as I want. Don't like it? Tough." LMAO!!! woooooooooo baby... how that song on Graduation go... Damn! here we go again! oh lord Reckless with each 50 cent blog you and hate and hate and hate! It's like damn you wanna see 50 lose that much huh? well let's see something shall we...
check it... it's like reckless along with any other 50 cent hater is playing chess with 50.
- reckless will never beat 50 in a game of chess( no check mate)
-50 will win the game of chess(he knows the art of war). I mean c'mon how many other rappers out there are making more money off of their haters than their own fans...
-if 50 cent loses a whole bunch of other people are gonna lose(I think that's a stalemate.)
Don't you get it Reckless you can't win you just can't. If you hate 50 so much then just ignore him... wait! You can't do that, why? because no one will read your blogs then you won't have a J-O-B! 50 got the game to where if you think you got him but he really got you. By the way I am glad that kanye won the charts... it's stepping stone for quality being a factor in Hip Hop Music. So give it up Reckless, you can't beat 50, it's just impossible for you!
Reckless(sherman klump voice): YES I CAN! YES I CAN! YES I CAN!!!

I want front, I can’t stand 50’s dick-riding fan base and I don’t like that nigga very much either (Him sucking George Bush’s Dick on that Katrina issue is something I will never forget). Anyway, I think this whole units sold bullshit fucked the whole game up. I knew that nigga 50 (as an artist) when he was making less cake then I currently do. Now as a New York Mothafucka, I was insulted with this cookie cutter commercial shit he gave us from the Massacre and then more of that bullshit with Curtis. Now Curtis the Album is much better then “The Assacre†but that shit is not as organic like Kanye’s joint is. And I am not a Kanye fan at all (I don’t dislike him) but that dude makes joint from fuck it point of view and that is what real Hip Hop is. It is being unique and real and just saying fuck it. Follow My lead, Ayo Technology, Straight to the Bank are all corporate cutter pop rap horseshit. Now you niggas argue about business…Ok, I understand but I am just saying what Hip Hop is and isn’t. I don’t give a fuck about the business. I am a consumer. I don’t make cheese when these niggas do. I just give a fuck about the music.
691 is a great number, but 50 got routed and you know these G-Unit homos bought on average, 5 copies of piece. And niggas who hate 50 and are not Ye’s fan bought Ye’s joint. So these numbers are inflated but Ye’s appear to have truer numbers because 957 is not that far off from 860.
Now I hope that 50 has been thoroughly embarrassed that he will finally shut the fuck up and keep that shit real. I feel as New Yorker he betrayed me. You cats who are not New Yorkers always ask: why are we pissed at 50; we are pissed at him because his betrayed us. He embarrassed us with that rap pop bullshit he was dropping. As a city we are not about that.We are not soft. New York is hard so if you are going to rep us don’t rep us like that. Of course we rejected that shit. How would you like to be a straight man (which a lot of you niggas are not) and then you have some fagget ass nigga rep you as a fagget. That shit would piss you off wouldn’t. So we don’t appreciate that bullshit he was dropping. I just hope now that people will shut the fuck up about units sold so that we can get back to the real shit. We haven’t had consistent real shit in years.

If that was the case Young Jezzy wouldn't have out sold Nas. T.I. wouldn't have had a big first week like he did. Because the majority of Jeezy's & TIP's music is about gangsta shit!!
Personally I think that if people was tired of the gangsta rap that shit would have died out back in the 90's. Truthfully gangsta rappers aren't saying nothing new, they just say the same shit, just in a different way!
how are people saying 600,000 is a disaster. thats still second most sold this year on an opening week if i'm correct? sales are down period all accross the board for hip hop and other forms of music. hell that country dude who never has failed to open at number one .. came in third this time behind kanye and 50. i think they both made a mistake coming out on the same day. the competition was good. but just think they both could have sold a million on seperate days. the people who bought kanye would have bought 50's on his release date and vice versa.
sept 11 you sound like a ass hole saying that fifty has niggaz dirinkin vitiaman water when vitiaman water is consumed mostly by whites that have no idea that fifty cent had a stick in it the sales of vitamin water were good before he bought in you fuckin clown wacth the game stop snicthin stop lyin where he asked that white guy who was drinkin that shit if he bought it because of fifty and the nigga asked who was fifty cents .. its a good product and he was smart enough to buy into it i cant take that from him but g-unit is dead the blood was in the water when u seen yayo go wood banks go plastic mob deep go wood and buck who i actually like go wood . there sells have been on the decline for the past year shit game outsold banks and yayos album combined the first week and yayos buck banks and the mob combined overall so what is you really sayin
First week sales dont mean Kanye will have the higher selling album overall remember The Gayme and Akon both dropped on the same day in 2006 and Gayme beat him by over 100,000 album sales but Gayme topped out at 900,000 and Akon is still selling at 2.5 mi. But BIGG UP TO KANYE FROM A GUY WHO WANTED 50 TO WIN even though I like Kanyes work I just feel he to homo for me. If your felling that Kanye album your probably one of those niggas who never been arrested and who never sold drugs or anything like that, you know those niggas who stayed in school and knew not to travel to the hood and steyed in their own area when chillin

@ Reckless,
let me guess, U went out on a date with 50, things got hot & heavy, y'all fucked, then l8r that night 50 woke up while U were still asleep & broke out on U, without ever calling U back & 2 this day U've been bitter.
Get over it, maybe U were'nt his type.
@ All Black Crackers and my Black brothers that are not yet Black Crackers
While your are bickering back & forth about who sold the most this past week, there in an injustice taking place. This morning when I woke and turned on the white man's news to keep myself informed, and I heard the biggest (excuse my language, I'm very upset) crock of bullshit!!! These White Devil's in Las Vegas Nevada are trying to give brother O.J. Simpson life in jail by charging him with first degree kidnapping and 10 other felony charges. My black brother's it time for you to join the Black Cracker Movement!!! You already know what it situation is . . . First the Jena 6, now brother O.J.
As Vice President of the Black Cracker movement I want to let all of you know, that we plan to march are Black Cracker asses to Las Vegas and fuck as many white bitches as possible. We are at war, I REPEAT, WE ARE AT WAR!!! Usually Black Crackers only fuck the fine white bitches, but since we are at war, NO WHITE BITCH IS SAFE FROM MY DICK & HAIRY BLACK BALLS! That all I have to say, I don't plan on waisting anymore time talking, because it's time for action!!

*** Vice President of the Black Cracker Movement ***
does anybody remember when 50 talked about this?
"I ran in2 Jay @ the Summer Jam, right after "How To Rob" came out, he walked up 2 me and said 'I don't like that record U made, I LOVE that record U made, but I still gotta get U' so when he goes on, he drops the line, 'I'm all about a dollar, who the fuck is 50 Cent?'"
Last Saturday I went to Best Buy and bought that Kanye West and it was the best 10 bucks I've spent in a minute. At first I wasn't going to get because I had the Reasonable Doubt, Makevelli, and Soul Food, but the big booty girl behind the counter talked me into it. If Curtis wouldn't have been talking that retirement shit I wouldn't have bought it but I would love to see this dude just go away, he's the reason why the South is running it right now and why NYC is fucked up. So after I took the Graduation CD off the shelf I covered the many Curtis
cd's that were still on the shelfs starting to get dusty.
Anyway, Ye did his thing and I could care less about Curtis. His flow is annoying, his creativity game is non-existant, and he just can't really rap, but I knew back in '99 when he was fucking with Onyx.
All I got say is Ye need to do a video for "Flashing Lights" asap, that song is a fucking hit. I bet the five he win a VMA in '08 for it, lol!
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A LOSS WHEN TWO RAPPERS SELL OVER 500,000 COPIES THE FIRST WEEK AT THE SAME TIME
YOU CAN'T ACTUALLY BE A SERIOUS HIP HOP HEAD IF YOU CAN'T SEE THE REAL PLUS IN THIS SITUATION....
DUMB FUKS LIKE THIS BLOGGER DUDE ARE JUST FANS AND NOT JOURNALISTS......
THEN ON TOP OF THAT....YALL SHOULD BE HAPPY THAT TWO NIGGAS WIT EAST COAST MATERIAL IS HOT RIGHT NOW.....
NOW YOU CAN QUIT HATIN THE SOUTH.....

Yeah you know, my real niggas who be getting arrested for stupid shit, selling drugs and still living in they momma basement..talking bout "I'm bout to get it remodeled and shit"..Yeah fuck them dumb niggas stayin in school and shit, gettin educations..stupid muthafuckas..they could be on the corner making 40 g's a year risking 10 years in the pen, stupid niggas. Only real niggas get arrested, if you ain't never been arrested then you ass.
And yes for all you dumb fucks out there I'm being sarcastic.
Fuck scans, fuck sales, fuck all that bullshit, hip hop is alive and well. It's alive here in Chicago and everywhere else. Kanye and Common make me proud of the hip hop scene in my city. NY should stand up and give 50 love also. Some of the tracks I heard on G unit radio for Curtis are bananas. On Hip Hop nation there was a release party for Ye's joint and it was hot. Stop hating, hip hop still lives.

This is why Black People stay losing...
Um....look at the big picture people. Yes it was competition, and 50 was talking mad shit (as usual) but selling close to 700g records first week ain't no flop. Also think about the fact that TWO hip hop artists moved those kinds of units in the SAME WEEK!!! When was the last time you've seen that? That's great for hip hop
Whatup Bigup? I see you still in here...
Man...the majority of cats here are fucking losers...I swear to god.
I've never seen a site where so many people visit EVERYDAY to bitch about what's posted. If you don't like the shit you read here, why do you keep coming back?
Back on topic, props to Kanye...from a dude that thought there was no way he would outsell 50. I'm not what you would call a fan of either, but Graduation is definitely hot. Curtis is trash. Boo Boo badly needed a reality check...I just never thought it'd be 'Ye that would give it to him.
Stans can spin this shit anyway they'd like, and it won't change anything, so you might as well save the keystrokes.
Let that be a lesson to 50, don't ever dare the public to destroy you.
Funny because I remember his MTV interview where he said that the ceiling of Hip-Hop sales is determined by him, and that he's the hottest rapper out (based on sales).
By dude's own logic...he lost.
I was confident Kanye would win the minute this duel was announced. A lot of people looked at this thing from a very limited perspective. Kanye has more universal appeal. He raps about real things that effect a large segment of people. 50s numbers prove a lot of people still like the studio gangsta rap, but no way was his limited subject matter going to outsell Kanye. Although 50/Interscope bought ad space on PerezHilton.com and Kanye didn't, Perez himself promoted Kaney heavily in his blogs and I though that spoke volumes.
-
After listening to 50 speak with Master P on Rap City I saw that he still didn't get it. He's so childlike which kinda made me like him a little more. He has to broaden his vantage point and gradually change his image or his numbers are going to continue to decline.
-
In any event these guys have made history and that is great. When is the last time an artist hit the charts at #2 with 690k sold? Has that ever happened. They both did VERY well.
Yeah Kanye outsold 50. Yeah his stans will pull out any excuse to say why. Yeah yeah yeah. Basically Kanye shitted on him. I've heard people say that 50 haters went out and bought 3-5 Kanye CDs..lol wtf..! I don't like 50's music but I didn't buy 1 Ye CD at all. Why would someone have 5 copies of Ye's cd? makes no sense. Be realistic. I can see 2 cd's for the house and the car. But damn near 5..GTFOH!..Some people are comparing his sales to MJ, Whitney and Mariah..Listen kids..They've been in the game forever. They've had platinum album after platinum album. This is 50's 3rd CD and he's already losing his fan base. Don't ever compare him in SALES to MJ. WTF is wrong w/ kids nowadays?
T.I and Jeezy(both lames). Aren't considered "gangsta rap". Thats the dopeboy anthem shit. The "I hustle" type of music. They main trash is talking about bricks and bullshit. They both need to step they Hip Hop Game Up. I don't know how the hell Jeezy and T.I still sell. They both garbage. Its sad when a real artist like Nas gets outsold by Jeezy and T.I...but hey oh well..
With that said Ima go cop Kanye's album today, after I get that Ultimate Victory..I've heard good things about both albums so we'll see whats up..

damn son u b takin hip hop 2 serious who carez who sell more recordz/ iz all about da album mc hammer sold alot of recordz that makez him da king of hip hop... judge them off da music not da sellz
50 did not loose he sold 690,000 if thats losing then what is winning, plus 50 will win in 2nd week numbers and overall sales peopl just wanted to see him loose...hip hop won and yall should stop hatin and realize that because thats bigger than anything
U DUMB MUTHA FUCKAS....YE DID OUTSELL 50...BUT 50 STILL SOLD 690,000 ALBUMS...HE'LL BE PLATINUM BEFORE NEXT WEEK IF HE STOP ALL THE HATIN AND FOCUS ON HIS ON PROJECT....PEOPLE TIRED OF THE HATIN, THATS WHY KANYE OUTSOLD HIM
if you really listen to both albums Curtis is better than Kanye's album. Kanye is able to reach a broader audience because people know, and hate the fact that so much controversy is stirred when 50 comes out. People like kanye better. He is less rude. But Curtis album is better. Period. So soundscan is not an accurate depiction of the quality of the music this time around!
Stans fucking amaze me. Let me break it down for you.
50 lost because he guaranteed that he would outsell Kanye West.
As of yet, he has not.
That means he is losing.
Which makes him a 'loser.'
Now, did he still do well on the charts?
Of course.
But again, saying that someone is "no competition" for you, constantly dissing that person every time a mic is in your face, and then having that person outperform you when game time comes, makes you look like an ass.
Hopefully this motivates 50 into making some quality music in the future.

@ Big Smoove,
after posting that assinine staement, U should never return 2 this blog again, I know plenty of people who sell drugs, been locked up that's feeling Kanye's music, what the fuck does that shit have 2 do with the music? if it's bumpin' it's bumpin' fuck all of that dumb shit, U gotta have a certain image 2 listen 2 certain artists? so what U're saying is that b/c I finished school, never did more than a day in jail, I should'nt listen 2 T.I., Lil' Wayne or Young Jeezy? GTFOH!!!! as 4 feeling that he's 2 homo 4 U, that's Ur opinion, if that's the case Luther Vandross would have never sold as many records as he did, & everybody knew he was gay, even if he did'nt admit 2 it.
I swear some of y'all suckas take the music WAAAAAAAY 2 serious.
FUCK 50 CENT AND KAYNE WEST - HOW MANY COPIES DID PZ MOVE ON LAST WEEK?
Fuck that! It's shit on 50 week. Let the shittin begin!
P.S.
& I live in "The Hood" 2.
Arrogance is a muthafucka huh 50!?? Ha! Anyway, movin on, I expected MUCH more from a Jay Z verse, especially on a beat like that, i.e. a beat wch jus about anyone call "kill". I still think despite how betrayal it may seem, Kanye made a good choice (career-wise) to stick with Jay. I mean, what's Dame doing musically at the mo? Wat up with DDMG??
