In the midst of heavy gentrification, the one and only original Human Beatbox, Doug E. Fresh, is putting his foot in the door to the home of the Renaissance before the door fastens shut... forever.
Somehow I feel like someone will save Harlem before it's stripped of its existence.
In the middle of September, E. Fresh will be welcoming to Harlem his Doug E.'s Fresh Chicken and Waffles, which will be located on 132nd and Adam Clayton Powell. I'm not sure if Pan Pan ever recovered from that fire. It's been a couple of years since it happened and I haven't been up Lenox too much, so I'm not sure of the status.
The news of the Barbados native opening his first ever restaurant was publicized after E. Fresh rocked it on 135th and St. Nich/Adam Clayton's "Old Fashioned Block Party," which spawned a record-breaking crowd of 15,000 on Sunday-- even in the gloomy weather.
Now will this stop the developers and the non-Harlem natives from trying to tag the 124th and Broadway area the "Upper West Side"? Saying, "we're 'right across the street' from Harlem."
Yes. They've taken it there.
Really. They should all just kill themselves.
But back to Doug: What about The Bronx? I understand people still have a hard time coming up here, but Fordham Road is good business... raggety but good business nonetheless. And, aren't you from The Bronx? Come back to your hip-hop roots.

Yeah that's whassup Doug E. Fresh doin something in the community for the community and the dude still lives in Harlem. After wacthing his show Sunday uptown he got me to respect DJ Webstar, Aunt Jackie folks and all the teens doin there thang in the new movement they got going on up there. Also Doug E. rocked that show. He is The Greatest Entertainer. He took it from old school to reggae to new school back to ol school and at the end of the show him and Slick Rick tore it down. That was a day of some serious HIP HOP for the young and old to enjoy. For those in NYC who missed it, don't do it to yourself next year. It was well worth standing in the rain and rocking to classics and some new music.

I did the vegetarian thing back in 05 for about 6 months, I felt good and all, but damn that chicken, turkey & fish was callin' me, & my friends they think I'm crazy b/c I stopped eating certain seafoods like lobster, crab, catfish, tuna & shrimp, anything that feeds off the bottom of the sea, I call shrimp sea roaches.
