So Remy Ma wasn't quite pursued by the NYPD, which is surprising, but rumors threw her name under the bus in the case of a wounded woman who was shot in the torso just before 4am Saturday morning during a confrontation that took place after leaving a bar in Downtown, Manhattan.
The cops told SOHH yesterday that even though they had spoken with witnesses and Remy was named a suspect, that they "are not releasing any information like that yet. We haven't named any suspect."

The victim, 23-year-old Makeda Barnes-Joseph [pictured far right], is in stable condition at St. Vincent's hospital.
Remy finally turned herself in to a precinct yesteray afternoon. Now, she's sitting in Riker's Island. Where officers lose their lives. She better be careful.
UPDATE: Remy was released from jail on a $250,000 bond Sunday. Barnes-Joseph, who is one of Remy's friends, is rumored to be after a quick payoff; in other words, the whole thing could have been a set-up. However, she claims otherwise:
"All I heard was the gun go off," she said from her bed at St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan. "I couldn't believe she shot me! What hurts me is that when she shot me she went over and dumped the bag. She didn't even say, 'Oh, my God, I just shot her.'"So what is "Shesus Kryst" to do now?

This is (yawn) Curtis' video for "I Get Money." Everytime I hear him say "I run New York," I think about how he got his album pushed back... for the second time.
Quite cliche. Your typical money-chicks-and-entourage kind of video. Next. This is not a good look for you, homie.
________________________________________________
This is a tad bit old, but what's funny is that it's more relevant now than it was when it first came out. Heads up: it's the middle of July.
"I been signed to Diplomat Records since two thousand and fuckin two. I'm droppin June 28th. That's my release date. For all the dumb c*ck-suckin f*ggots who think I'm not droppin an album. June 28th stupid. What the f*ck I look like not droppin an album? Is you crazy? I looked like I killed an album already! Look at me, stupid! Look at me! I looked like I put out an album already n*gga! I been signed to Diplomat Records since two thousand four. Whoever said that I'm not dropping is a mothaf*ckin clown man. What I look like not droppin? I'm one of the most important figures to the 'Set, n*gga. Bleek, you're not hot. Tru Life... I'm not even gonna talk about yall n*ggas no more, man."
Say word?

I gotta admit although the subject matter for 50 hasn't changed the song is the hardest shit in NY right now mainstream wise which hurts me to say. I think Remy is having bad luck at the right time; mixtape dropping, dropping bodies at the same time. I think we are living in a dead culture right now, where the fuck are we? I mean true story rap used to be diverse and even the hardest rappers back in the day used to be conscious to their surroundings and how fucked up they were and still are. I read a article by wise Intelligent yesterday where he says that the revolutionary in the artist should come before the artistry and I think he's right. I just honestly believe that most rappers are cowards and slaves hence someone owning your masters. I think the hip hop community has to formulate a plan to control itself. Coonery is at an all time high and I think that you need to create instead of kill. Where are the balls on these rappers? I love the LOX but lost so much respect for Jada when he recanted the bush knocked down the towers statement on "WHY". Jimmy iovine got in Jada's ass and he switched up the story, incredible house nigga mentality. I just feel disappointed with hip hop because I don't feel like their are that many people at all who represent me and my positive stance as a Black intellect with the exception of Common, Nas, and Mos Def. I'm for the people, not killing them. I was listening to my cousins CD the other day and it was trash, he's 20 not in school and works at the Hyatt in Manhattan, yet on the CD he's moving bricks running with AK's and Lexmarks, I told him his shit was ass and that if he wanted to really blow he would be himself. I think that these days the rappers attempt to fit the shoes of the position instead of creating a new facet of said position. Why isn't anybody speaking on the issues of aids in the Black Community, the violence that is continually perpetuated in the music. the rappers that talk about it ain't doing all it. The lives that we fictionally paint can come true and art is not imitating life today just the opposite is happening, we're immune to the chaos because we force feed it to ourselves. As a Blackman I'm happy 50's almost a Billionaire but if he ain't helping his community fuck him, same with Jay, he understand the need for clean water in Africa yet continues to Glorify the gamne that is no to be talked about. I mean if you wanna be real with itmost rappers talking about guns and drugs are snitches, white people got all that shit plus tons more but they songs are happy go lucky. They sing about whatever and really get ill with it and bomb a whole fucking country, hit them on the head and take what they got. That's power, the power is in the politics of your community and seeking everyday to make your community and family stronger to resist the bullshit coonery that is "Aye Bay Bay", "Wipe me Down" and just about everything the Ying yang twins have done. Stop fucking Cooning!!! I'm just having a hard time attemping to not slug people other than blacks that i wouldn't wear fronts (a grill) if some one gave them to me. I got a mean two step but I ain't chicken noodle souping it for their viewing pleasure and that my jeans ass stay on my ass instead of on my legs, take your fucking identity back as the people who created Black Wall Street, architectually designed Washington DC and the same people who invented the street light. Wipe me down? Fuck those idiots get you dingity back Black people. until then Get my pool in the backround.
50 SO COOL HE IS APPEAL TO EVERY OTHER RACES BESIDE BLACKS
WHO THE FUCK WANNA HEAR SOME UGLY BROKE BUMS FROM HOODS? WE (IM SOME WHITE/MEXICAN SCENE KID) WE WANNA HEAR THAT COOL SHIT LIKE 50'S
GGGGGG-UNIT THEY THE BEST MAKING US BETTR BANKS BUCK 50 THAT'S WHAT'S UP
@RECKLESS THE HOTTEST RECORD OUT..
NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY UR CALLED RECKLESS(UR A CLOWN) PERIOD.
50'S HOT OUT THERE AGAIN NIGGA, KEEP HATIN ALL U WANT BUT WHEN THE ALBUM DROPS U'LL SEE WHAT HE MEANS BY ''I RUN NEW YORK...FAGGOT...
Wow. It looks like 50 had a $10 budget for that video. The theme is stereotypical rap industry cooning just as the song's lyrics are. That being said I love the beat on the song if that means anything.
Your blog title is misleading and the blog on Remy in general is confusing. Remy is not on Rikers for murder, but attempted murder. Did you do that on purpose?
Did Hell Rell's CD drop?
Aye.when u got a trillion dollars in tha bank, what else can u rap about.ill rap bout my bread all day 2...shiit,fuck that.I wouldn't be rappin at all lol.
I tried to give SOHH.com another chance and once again you proved to me that your all haters just like Benzino, get off 50 case he does run NY if he don't who is runnin it. I Get Money is the summer banger and SOHH.com is the only site that seems to think different. For real I am really done with your site and I will stick to Allhiphop.com, and HiphopDX.com sites that know hiphop regaurdless who makes it. Peace For Good
Rap is corny. Hell Rell sounds like a lame trying hard to sound hard and look hard. These people are ignorant and should be ignored.
Remy must've been high. What type of men would've stood by and let that happen? Lames that's who. Those dudes with her were chumps.
50 has been the biggest artist not just in NY but the game for the last 4yrs. People hate him because their opinion of what hip hop is or should be isn't winning.
Rap is tired. EVERYONE is too old. The artists, blog writers, radio personalities, etc.
Immaturity is en vogue thanks to rap. Time to grow up people and be adults. If you're +30 forget about rapping. If you're +25 forget about "keeping it Gangsta."
So many people have to wait for adulthood to become cool teens. If you're a +25yr old cool teen then you're a lame ass adult.

Go Check out Talkin Vids blog today Fam, You know what it is.
Damn Nirod you spittin that fire this morning. I don't know if I agree with you totally. You can be an older rapper as long as you are not rapping about immature topics, such as I get money over and over again. There are older hip hop fans who would love to hear a rapper talking about things that effect them. Believe me when I tell you that you don't outgrow a love of music. As for radio DJs it takes time and experience to work your way up to that position so they can only be but so young.
U accidentally signed Nimrod instead of Bird, Bird. I thought that was odd I was like why is he having a convo with himself.

Remy is wildin!!!! Damm she is illin!!!... On tha real!!!
Hip Hop began as music for teens by teens. By the time rappers hit 24 they were once considered old. Hammer was 27 and everyone complained about him being old. LL called him an old gym teacher in one of his songs. Nowadays rappers don't get deals until they're 27. The lyrical content has aged tremendously as far as vulgarity and subject matter due to the increasing age of artists BUT the primary consumers of the music remain young people and that's where the problem lies. In order to relate to the consumer the artists are rewarded for childish behavior. They don't look like kids so the next best thing is to act like them.

You know what they say about black people not reading. The fact that your posts are long means many bloggers are not reading it. You be spittin some serious knowledge that they could at least store in their minds for later use. I just fear they are not reading it.
all I hear nowadays is stop cooning from others and stop acting white from the rest...BE YOUR FUCKING SELF....don't listen to any asshole on the internet thats for damn sure, ie. big sun, lol your fuckin hypocrite son...you talked a bunch of shit about white ppl havin all that shit and bomb countries...but you wanan blame hip hop for the problems that the world faces today??? you contradicted urself way to quickly...nothin else you say EVER on this website can have any intellgence to it.
OMG once again these writers on SOHH are hatin on 50.....I mean dayum leave the man alone he got the hardest record out right now.....it's favored by all the DJ's on HOT 97....don't believe me? hit me up and I'll give you the link to the interview 50 did before the premiere of the video & everyone one giving positive reviews on it....but NEwayz, I wonder what other shit ya'll gonna be talkin on 50 once that week comes and he sold 600,000 + records....go ahead and keep hatin cuz all ya'll niggas is doing is promoting him and building up more hype....GET EM 50!!!!!!!!!!

I'd have to disagree with that whole statement. When LL started out as a teen he was considered to be VERY young in the game. That was not the norm. It used to be that it took some life experience and a level of intelligence to write a rhyme. Further men talking about how many hoes they smash, how much money they're getting on the street corner and how many negroes they killed for looking at them wrong is not a sign of being too old. It is a sign of ignorance and should be expected from a teenager and not a grown man and shouldn't be acceptable by either.
@Bird
100% co-sign, We as a people don't read enough. Its like our Great-Grandparents fought and suffered for all these rights and then we didn't do anything at all with them.
Me personally I've always loved to read, I've probubly read hundreds of books. On the other hand I can't get my brother to read my posts.
Big Sun always comes with some thought provoking posts. I only come to the NY blog to see what the young revolutionary has to say.
@ Big Sun:
The people don't want enlightenment. They love ignorance, that's a Fact. When so-called "positive" rappers come out, people don't buy them, mainly because they suck and you can't move to it. Black People dance. Having said that, if all rap was preaching, it would suck too. Just because you can't feel a song doesn't make it trash. "Wipe Me Down" is a dope ass track. Your cuz will sell big talking about what he is becuz people want that. If you want to find a concious rapper, just go to any loading dock, that's where they're working.
More so than the lyrics what I'm most offended by are the images of black people presented as the norm in hip hop. I recently opened a XXL and saw a picture of Webbie and Lil Boosie. Both were tatoo'd and shirtles wearing tacky jewels. One had a medallion which read "Dope Zone." They might as well had been wearing blackface. They and their kind are the modern day minstrels and Tupac was the prototype.
The only way to deal with their like is to separate ourselves from them. Some people don't want to change so let them reap what they sow. It would help if images like that wasn't promoted on TV, radio and in magazines. Without the attention maybe these morons would just go away.
@Bird
You're right. LL was considered very young but I don't think I referenced HIS age anywhere in my post. Typically, rappers were 18-19yrs old when they dropped their first album and as far as life experiences go then as today rappers relied mostly on what they saw or resorted to the now played out bragadoccio style. (well maybe it's not so played out. LOL!)
Anyway, do your research and you'll see all the great rappers from that era whether Rakim, Kane, KRS, G Rap, etc, had peaked before their 23rd birthday. They tended to come on the scene around 18 and drop an album every year. By the 3rd album all had slipped.
Be easy Bird. I like you. LOL! ;)
Btw, no disrespect to anyone but the school system in the NE was excellent in those days and produced MC's who actually understood the vocabulary. Not to mention the incorporation of the five percenter teachings which was prevalent at the time. Cats from other areas couldn't keep up so they dumbed it down and now we've followed suit... The blind leading the blind.
Just because you can't feel a song doesn't make it trash. "Wipe Me Down" is a dope ass track. Your cuz will sell big talking about what he is becuz people want that. If you want to find a concious rapper, just go to any loading dock, that's where they're working.

Vengeance is the Lords...not mine.
I'm just sayin....people think it's a game, and like it ain't nothin to be concerned with by doing something like that. What I'm sayin is when you do it, then it happens like that....don't be surprised. That's my point, yet people still blind to it and the world would rather believe in the theory of "coincidence" than the idea of accountability.
I will continue to pray for change.

Just because poeple are starting to get tired of 50 and his usual theatrics does not make you a hater. Were folks Ja haters when they chose to go in another direction????? 50 is basically becoming what he was supposedly so against (singing on every hook, starting beefs he won't finish, walking around with his shirt like some greased up homo) and basically became that. Everyone sees it now. It's just some of you die hards won't realize it. and to be honest that's ok too. Reality will set in. Everyone's "lil day" comes....and his appears to be coming at a record pace. When have you known 50 to keep pushing a "supposed great album" back. I can refresh your memory. It was around the time of the "massacre" trash ass album that even he admits was trash....lol He doesn't have the Game or Dre to blame this time around should this album do just as bad on it's opening week. and for those dropping first week numbers for him 600K would be awful for him. That would be 50K more than T.I. opening week. Not a good look for the guy who "runs NY"....lmao He wants to release it world wide so the numbers look sick! Don't you Gunit groupies get it. He doesn't give a fuck if some kid in Germany gets the same time as a kid on Fulton gets it. He just wants the soundscan number to be high. So when you see 900K in the first week "worldwide" you'll be like "oh shit, I got to go and cop that". Oh and don't hate on SOHH. Maybe SOHH is the only site that refuses to dick ride!!!
Second it should not matter how old you are in the rap game, just stay relavent. The minute you feel as your not.....leave and don't return. That looks worst then coming out and straight flopping!
As music and artist matures...so does the fan. Don't cut folks out because their over 25. We all have to grow, remember that. Almost everyone that controls their piece of the music industry (and I mean really controls the music industry) is well over 35.
Russell Simmons--Lyor Cohen--Kevin Liles--Jay-Z--L.A. Reid--J. Prince--Hollywood (Slip and Slide)--Jermaine Dupri--Suge (at one time)--Clive Davi
