Like everyone else I've heard the song "Missing You" by P Diddy a million times, but I cried to that song during a concert back in 2001. As you know P Diddy puts on a hell of a good show. He preformed that song over Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes Classic song with the same title. He had Faith singing and a church choir too. Then he had everyone put there lighters in the air and gave this speech. He turned that 4 minute song into a 15 minute tribute and the crowd was loving it. I know this doesn't sound like anything special that would make you cry, but it made me cry b/c my little sister died a few months before the concert.

I've been crying the last few days b/c I could not do any STANNING on this blog. Now it's back to business as usual.

To me it reminds me of the one mixtape track,... and I think he ran with the idea that has the "She's freaky freaky when ya getta in tha bed, you need the G like me to getta to give ya head" that track.
The whole song is about fuckin, and it does follow the formula cause its in the vain of magic stick and candy shop, IMO. I like it better cause the whole song is really about gettin down rather then more catchy poppy stuff like the other two. He uses metaphors thru the whole song for different postitions, ect. Most rappers cant even use metaphors correctly.
As far as the Ja Rule thing, go back and listen to the Ja Rule tracks with Ashanti, and J-Lo, Ect. and tell me 50 is doin the same thing. The difference is in content.
50 isnt singing, what he's doing is called cadence, he's stretching his voice to be able to slowflow, but still sound melodic, i.e. Ghetto Harmonizing (Luda/Ciara track). Ja Rule was singing like a bitch and screamin and shit about PUT IT ON MEEEEEEEEE, if you go back and listen to the tracks you'll realize its not the same thing at all.
As far as hooks like funeral music and hold on, alot of it to me has to do with content. Singin about killing you is different thang singin about how you need a woman, or you miss them, ect, if you listen to the tracks side by side you can see the diff..
IMHO that is, all of the above.

I knew it couldn't be R. Kelly on the red carpet at the premiere of Oprah Winfrey's "The Color Purple" on Thursday night.
Sure enough. It was him!

Kelly is facing 14 counts of child pornography stemming from a videotape allegedly showing him having sex with a 14-year old girl.

But it looks like the popular R&B star -- who croons inspirational ballads one minute and raunchy lyrics the next -- has a fairy godmother. Although indicted in 2002, his trial has been repeatedly delayed. Now the judge sitting for the case is also presiding over the Brown's Chicken trial, and Kelly's lawyer, Ed Genson, is representing former Chicago Sun-Times owner Conrad Black, on trial for allegedly pilfering millions from stockholders.

On Thursday night, Kelly told reporters stationed outside the Cadillac Palace that he saw "The Color Purple" seven times in New York. He was out and about because he has just finished an album, Kelly said.

"I figured this is the time to come out and enjoy myself. When I got invited, I thought there's no better way to do that," Kelly told reporters.

"He was invited. He was definitely there," said an employee with Margie Korshak, the public relations firm that handled the invites. The employee didn't know who extended the invitation and seemed surprised I inquired.

It has been more than four years since copies of the pornographic video flooded the streets, and a lot of people have forgotten Kelly is at the center of a case that involves videotaped sex acts with a minor.

Frankly, an invitation to the press review of "The Color Purple" was the hottest ticket in town.

In the newsroom, reporters started asking about tickets at the beginning of the week. An invite would give them a chance to mix work and pleasure, of course.

"You're going, aren't you?" a colleague asked.

She was shocked to learn I hadn't gotten an invite, either.

But I have my own fairy godmother. That same day, I ran into a big-hearted A-Lister who had two extra theater tickets. Unfortunately, by then there was no way I could attend the event. Still, I stopped by the Cadillac Palace Theatre to watch as celebrities made their way down the red carpet.

The area hummed with anticipation.

Thanks to Jonathan Jackson (he pulled me past security), I even got a chance to experience what it feels like to have dozens of flashing cameras aimed at you.

That's how I happened to see Kelly make his entrance. No one booed.

Despite the unsavory allegations hanging over his head, Kelly has managed to keep his superstar status. Kelly is a multiple-Grammy winner, and since his indictment, he has been nominated for numerous civic and industry awards, including the coveted NAACP Image Award.

Shortly after Oprah took her triumphant stroll, Kelly strutted down the red carpet, just like Mayor Daley and his wife, Maggie, had done earlier.

The irony is jarring.

Oprah's production is based on a horrible tale of the sexual abuse that was heaped on a young girl in the rural South. Besides being raped by a man she believed to be her father, Celie was given to a mean-spirited older man as his wife, and throughout the relationship, she was used as both a sexual object and a workhorse.

Alice Walker, who won a Pulitzer Prize for her fiction, withstood being called a black male-basher to bring us this book. In the 20-plus years since its publishing, it remains a healing balm for women who have witnessed, endured, survived and ultimately thrived, despite physical and emotional abuse by cruel men.

To witness Kelly being treated as an honored guest at the premier of "The Color Purple" sickened me. It was a slap in the face of every woman who has gone through such abuse.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see "The Color Purple" Thursday night.

I gave one of the free tickets to my colleague. The other, I passed along to a woman who was standing outside watching the spectacle from a distance

Wow, since when did it become a problem to show you have a fucking heart? Crying is a basic human emmotion. Showing is anger is cool, although it clouds your vision and thoughts. Crying clears up pain, and helps you analyze things and cope. Yeah that's straight bullshit. If you don't have the heart,soul, or life experiences to cry about, how have you been living and what are you living for?

Music speaks to people. One of the oldest forms of communication. It's only natural that our feelings can be poured into music to move you. Have you cat's ever seen "Fresh"? Remember when the flick was all but over and Fresh sat down to play chess with his pop. He had to let all that shit that was bottled up inside him out, and all the kid could do was cry. Even in the worst situations and the worst places you still have a fucking soul. Not letting your emmotions go turns you to shit. That macho shit some of you cat's learned is from movies or simply not knowing you can still be a strong man and have a momment of weakeness. Everyone has a breaking point.

I love ghost man, I don't care if he cries. It shows that he is human and a lot of the people in here that are saying things bad about ghost need to shut their mouths. I grew up listening to ghost and he is definitely one of my favorite rappers. I will always support ghost and the wu tang clan. I actually like ghost more now that he can show emotion like this. Ghost is legendary. Fuck the haters!

It's nothing wrong with that Ghost I cry all the time. Hell I live in a shit hole city Los Angeles California and leaves me in tears every night because I'm stuck in a crappy city like this.

Man, I remember the first time I heard 'Dear Momma' by 2Pac. I was high as hell with my dawgs and we all stopped and listened, n I gotta admit I got choked up. But when Pac died and I listened to it again, nearly everytime after that I get tears in my eyes. It's one of them songs that contain the artist's love and feelings for something personal, n no matter how "gangsta" we be, our mother's are like a God to us.

Another track that is really emmotional is 'The Saga' (remix) by Cormega. Not the original version but the remix that starts with the piano. Shit, Mega killed the first verse. You just gotta sit there quiet and listen to all the lyrics of the first verse and by the time you get to the part where he says 'Mother's watch sons walk through the doors, the last time before they go view at the morgue' you will feel the tears run.

I think the first verse of 'The Saga' is one of the most special verses in hip-hop i can relate to, like he was rhyming about just another day for me. I didn't have to imagine what he was seeing, I could look around and see it myself.

Bottom line, hip-hop has many faces and it shouldn't be a shock to see some of them with tears on them.

I have never cried to any song but I can't lie that Ghost songz fucked me up for a minute. I felt like that dude was telling my story. Damn near every thing head said in that song I actually lived through.....including having a cousin named John John who pee'd in the bed. I never cried but I felt where he was coming from on that track!
