New York City Fails Again: Uncle Tom Leroy Comrie Needs to get his Priorities Straight

Where is dead prez when you need them? Didn't they say something about running up on these fools in City Hall?
According to numerous sources, with the push from Councilmember Leroy Comrie, the state of New York has officially banned the word "nigga." I'd like to see these niggas take action against 8 million niggas in New York City for using the word "nigga" during their conversation with a bunch of other niggas. Not gonna happen. When (literally) a million loud-talking niggas are simultaneously getting out of school at 3pm... finish the sentence.
Again...not gonna happen.
"Politicians should put more energy toward urgent issues, he [Yaya] said, like gentrification, joblessness and the recent killing of Sean Bell, who was shot by police on his wedding day. In recent weeks, the police department has come under fresh criticism for the high frequency at which it stops and frisks black males."
As seen in this article (via Rizoh) I would like to agree. These idiots are worried about the use of a word that cannot-- and will not-- be controlled. Yet when it comes to more vital issues of New York City such as affordable housing, racial displacement, and other problematic situations, crickets start singing.
Comrie claims that he encouraged this act in gratitude for the tired-ass Black History Month--the shortest month of the year might I add-- and because, basically, the word is annoying to him and is offensive to others. But you can't push for the compromise of Freedom of Speech because a particular form of expression is something you take as a personal offense. Maybe if this dude wasn't so busy licking these niggas' balls, he'd get on his knees and put his head to work on issues that are more serious and that need immediate attention, like babies sleeping in overcrowded shelters while their mother is unwillingly getting her breasts fondled, and niggas unjustly shot dead in the streets by the niggas working for the NYPD.
Until he presented the idea, government officials never really gave a fuck one way or another. And there's a million other ways to aim for the betterment of the people; foolishly trying to eradicate a stupid word isn't one of them.
Don't vote for Uncle Tom Leroy Comrie. Niggas like him make it harder for niggas like me.

While I agree that there are more pressing issues than the n-word (something that we can't control institutionally, but rather culturally), I disagree with one point:
1. your disdain for Black History Month. If you do quick research on it through Wikipedia, you'll see that it was our ancestors who made it in recognition of one of the first Black heroes (Frederick Douglass), and no, it wasn't a white person's creation to backhandedly compliment Blacks, but an honest effort by Carter G. to make something happen for us.
For the most part, I thought your point was well-written, and we need more activism on every end of our kaleidoscope of problems. Thanks for the note.
The major flaw of a democracy is POLITICS. Nothing ever gets done because everything is political. Democrats will reject a bill by republicans out of spite and vice versa even if the bill is needed. This is a prime example.
The lawmakers in NYC also banned transfat (the fat in grease that is the most unhealthiest) not because it's unhealthy but for political reasons. They wanted to cater to the health nuts in NY and now they're doing the same thing. They are basically throwing blacks a bone making black "leaders" happy and some old folks but it's just to get their minds off the major issues.
To change America the ENTIRE country would have to boycott the democrats and republicans. When elections come around vote for independent parties but it won't happen. If it did it would force change.
Put it this way, if you knew no matter what your wife wouldn't leave you wouldn't you take advantage of it and ignore her needs, maybe cheat on her, maybe beat her? Now what if she threatened to leave you forever? You'd fix your ways.

I somewhat agree on the banning on the N-word although it's easier said than done, because i dont know when i'll stop using it. the only reason i agree with this is for the fact that we as black people need to change our culture and this could be a start. i know the politician who did this was just doing it to make himself look good, but if you think about it we need to start a change in our culture somewhere and i think that's the best place to start, but if you would have got better people to lead this movement other than Leroy Comrie & Michael Richards it may work.
i can jus see it now in a couple months, we gunna have black people with the word "NIGGA" in big black letters and on the back its gunna be like "5-0 wtf you gunna do about it?"

Aight, here is my take on it.
It is a great "gesture", and I definetly agree that the "n" word needs to vanish from use. But I have a problem with the government creating a law to enforce what IT thinks on the people.
If anything...it needs to go up for vote before the people, and the majority of the people need to decide whether they feel a law is appropriate or not.
Someone posted earlier that they do not think "white" america cares if blacks use the word against each other. Ok then, if that is true...then they probably will not vote on the measure, and it will be left in black peoples hands to decide.
I for one, as a white man...agree 100% that the word should not be used, but I would vote against banning the word. I feel that something like this to change, there has to be a social change that comes with it...or the deadening of this word needs to be the result of social change from within. It can't be forced on people with no say so in the matter...that will only be counterproductive. It will cause a mess if a black person is ticketed or arrested for using the word, and will cause a much larger racial divide if a white person is.
Worst case...put it up for the people to vote and let the people speak up.
Best case...government...MIND YA OWN BUSINESS and feed the poor, help the homeless...etc.
Next thing you know, our wives will be calling the police on us for pootin under the covers...and we'll actually get tickets for it!

I blame that on the parents. Parents are simply not being responsible for their kids and are not raising them properly. They are being raised by 106 & Park and all this other fuckery on television and radio.

Yes I am a parent and I monitor what my ten year old daughter listens to and watches on television. I don't allow her to watch certain cartoons that I think are not geared toward children. She has never watched an epsiode of the Simpsons, I don't allow her to drool over Chris Brown, Bow Wow and Pretty Ricky, I allow her to listen to Disney music, classical, techno (yeah its funny, but its beats with little to zero lyrics and the lyrics that are there mostly revolve around love and life) you HAVE TO BE A PARENT, you can't make excuses because you work and you gotta pay bills, shit I gotta work and pay bills to but I have a responsiblity to my child FIRST. I want to give my daughter a chance in this world and not have her corrupt thinking that wearing skimpy clothing and droppin it to the ground is appropriate behavior for a woman. Its about teaching these children self respect!
You can't shield your children from the troubles of the world, I keep it real with her, I let her see the good and bad, but focus on the good, I let her be a child, I let her enjoy her childhood, and remind her not to try to grow up too soon.
I won't even allow her to be friends with certain children who's parents don't really raise them. It may sound harsh but its called parenting. I can't control other peoples kids but I have the ultimate control at my house.
Ciceroe whether you believe it or not the images that you see on telivision and the language that you hear through the air waves is not govermentally regulated then I suggest you do some research on who actually appoints the head of the FCC. Thats crazy. I work for a law firm as well (I support two attorneys, one is black the other Jewish) and I can't imagine someone carrying on that way on the job. What's good peeps? This bill is ridic. I admit I really don't like the word, but I use it. I hate hearing young kids say it, but what are you gonna do? I agree w/ BIll BIXBY. It is the context that you use the word. It can be one of the most offensive words known to men, or it can be a sign of friendship. However, you can not ban a word!!! That is against the constitution. When did the United States turn into China??

I feel ya, but that's my point. We can not say that he is not focused on other things at the same time, and we shouldn't assume that this is the only thing he is about.
I took a look at the site, and it doesn't give too much. It does speak briefly on the things that he has shown support on...and they sound on track with me. Of course this doesn't show a voting record, but it is an unbiased site that is gonna speak briefly on the things he stands behind.
I definetly think he better be able to multi-task and have more things goin on than a bill banning a word. I'm sure he does...so that's what I want to see...what else is in progress right now.

I mean let me back up, I may have jumped the gun callin him a "house nigger" because his intentions may have been honest, but in reality where will this law fit into uplifting our race?

He could've simply proposed the bill, and everyone else jumped all over it. lol
I don't really believe that he had to put too much energy into promoting this bill for it to get the attention it's gotten.
Simply drafting a proposal and moving it forward would bring it to light, and the subject it self would bring the attention.
