After basically being held prisoner on Interscope as he was forced to watch his second solo LP, Time is Money, get abused, kicked around, leaked, and blackballed for over a year and a half-- maybe more-- Styles P was set free and is now on KOCH Records.
Speaking of such, I don't understand how 50 Cent can call KOCH a graveyard and then allow one of his artists to release an album under that very label... unless he's admitting to all that Mobb Deep's career is dead. How's that for support.
So sometime this spring (May for now), the Y-O rapper born David Styles will be going for round three with 5 Star General just months after the release of his ill-fated effort. But the problem with Styles has never been the quality of his music or whether he has lyrical skill... it's always been his style. How do you market someone as street and as lyrical as Peniro in this time in hip-hop? KOCH is known for giving their artists more than a few dollars for every record sold simply because they don't put much into marketing and promotions (in comparison to major labels)... something that an artist like Styles desperately needs. Otherwise his buzz stays strictly in the streets.
Is this move going to help him or keep him in the same position? I don't see why an artist like Styles can't excel, but I'm not sure if KOCH is always the answer to every fallen artist.
Only time will tell.

being that styles is one of the hardest niggas out and im the first to post on this site i gota show yall my site

1st styles album wasn't great, i was one of the few who copped it. it aint have shit on a gangster n a gentleman. Obviously having tracks on there that were over a year old didnt fully help either. having said that, he can release the best album ever and will barely go gold for a number of reasons that yall that follow hip hop know about.
as for 50 n p, was that a sneak diss. P is a grown ass man, he wanted to get that indie dough so fif said kool, was he meant to say no? then you'll call him a bitch anyway.
fuck that anyway i check for the ghost most outta d block, imma kop that. he aint got jadas flow, but he nice wit his. he like a blend of kiss and louch.
nothing will make a star out of him. his careers over.
Nobody can be a star on a idy label
ICE CUBE IS A STAR AND HE ON INDPENDANT U FUCK BOIZ
JIM JONES MAKING BIG MOVES HE ON INDEPENDANT
FUCK U HATERZ

Styles played himself going to Koch, he certainly was exicted when he heard that he could get $7 an album but we all know that's a lie and i see dude still didn't learn his lesson, he should personally read the contract before he sign or at least he should let 50 break a deal for him, but i don't blame him on that 'cause we all got pride.
I'MA ABOUT 2 MAKE ALOT OF NI99AS MADD WITH THIS STATEMENT!!!
The only way Styles, Sheek, or Jada will ever become superstars again...is if they join forces with Bad Boys own, yeah I said it P. Diddy!
I know, Diddy is the devil, and money is the root of all evil so if P. or any other member of the Lox plan on moving some major units they better holla at the Diddy. Only he can give them that mainstream exposure and has the inside connections to get their projects off the ground in the industry.
This ain't hate or stupidity this is Real Talk! Puff is a money making machine. If he sees an opportunity he can benefit from he'll take it. It'll be a win-win situation bcuz the Lox finally get the pop audience to buy their albums and Diddy looks to regain some street cred from the urban market.
PEACE II THE USUALS!
BROOKLYN STAND UP!
The only way he's really gonna blow up is if he start doing more shit with Preemo. Will.i.am. and Kanye.
Speaking of such, I don't understand how 50 Cent can call KOCH a graveyard and then allow one of his artists to release an album under that very label... unless he's admitting to all that Mobb Deep's career is dead. How's that for support.
***I agree with this observation***...

I personally believe that styles problem is that he ain't no white nigga. He acts like on sometime but he doesn't have the fashion sense or the stamina to reach a broader class of people. Us white niggaz holdin down the white wall street in NYC know how to do just that. I know you see us in the cyphers on Times Square doing our thizzle, shit a few of us may be up in TRL hollerin at some shawties. Point being, White niggaz could help this man get to the point he's trying to go. White nigga movement takin over in that 2007!! Ask somebody!

"as for 50 n p, was that a sneak diss. P is a grown ass man, he wanted to get that indie dough so fif said kool, was he meant to say no?"
Well, 50 said P's a grown man and he let him do what he wanted to. But wasnt that what happened with Game. Game wanted to do what he wanted and he gets thrown off the label... something to think about.
Real Talk
Guess who's back????
Real Talk

Hey SOHH reckless, what is 50 supposed to do? Is he supposed to tell Prodigy that he can't go over there to Koch. Last time I checked Mobb Deep was still signed to G-Unit records. 50 is not like Fat Joe where he tells his artists what they can and can't do. Fat Joe went out and put a stipulation in Remy's contract saying she can't mention G-Unit again in any interviews or songs...how retarded is that? If Prodigy wants to drop material on Koch...just like Alchemist did...by all means they have a right to...
Koch is the graveyard Reckless...how long is it going to take you to understand that? Ice Cube went gold....I think he is the only rapper on a independant label that went gold...how many rappers are signed to an independant?
Why didn't you ever answer this question...
if the money was so good at Koch...why doesn't 50 go and get that $7.00 an album? Better yet..why doesn't Eminem go get that $7.00 a album?
You know why?..because they don't get $7.00 an album duuuuh!!
If being independant is so good....why is Jim Jones going to do exactly what 50 says and go to a major label now? If Koch isn't the graveyard...with all the success that Jimmy just had..why is he going to a major for his next project? You guys kill me with your opinions..I speak facts...just like fifth.

Yeeeeeeah....Game wanted to work with 50's enemies...that's why he got thrown off the label...
How do you want to work with them when your whole first album (classic if I may say so myself) was done by 50 cent...isn't that a stab in the back to 50?
He did every hot single on your album except Dreams and you can't be loyal to him? Before 50 got there, Game was on the shelf (how bad is that..not even Dr Dre knew what to do with him). 50 pretty much created Games career. Look at Game now....he got one more album before he ends up in the graveyard (Koch). This is going to be a big year for the G-Unit / Shady / Aftermath camp...You got Buck...50...Eminem...then Dre...
If I was the other labels..I would push all albums back to 1st quarter of 2008....

Tragedy has struck Hip Hop yet again as another young man was murdered. Doc Doom from the Almighty Black Knights, a Wu-Tang affiliated group that has appeared on releases such as RZA Presents Wu-Tang Killa Bees: The Swarm, was shot and killed in Compton last night on February 11th.
Doc Doom, real name Dante Cunningham, was just recently released from prison and was working on new material for the Black Knights as well as contributing to the upcoming Bobby Digital album due late this year.
HipHopDX sends out our condolences to his family, friends and anyone else affected by this loss. When will the nonsense stop?
Forget being a star, it's about being able to do what he wants without being held back. I can care less about 50 and Prodigy, SP the Ghost is one of the best. Too many of you have allowed commercialism within hip-hop to blind you. What SP said on the radio and how he acted was like a grown ass man. He didn't bitch, moan or cry, he said what he said and kept it moving.
When was the last time any of you checked KOCH's business statements to see what kind of money dudes are getting? As soon as 50 comes on and says - they ain't getting what they say they getting, y'all jump up and down and believe him like he is a fuckin prophet. It's pathetic. Ice Cube says he getting damn near $8 per album, I guess he lying as well. Jim lying, and Prodigy wants to get that indie dough, but based on what 50 said it aint there.
SP, go get thet indie money, but better yet put out a classic album. Sick of all this stupid shit, fuck all you wanna be hip-hop heads, love to those who respect and love the art form for what it truly is.
Not too far away, the sad music is playing; their loved ones are crying crocodile tears that will have no effect on the outcome. Former close confidants stare off into space thinking about their next move. There is not even an ounce of pain in their eyes. The death was so gruesome that a closed casket was more than necessary. The same thing that made them grow and spurt with energy has slowly sucked the life out of them until there was nothing left but a dry and deformed corpse – DipSet is dead, prepare for the funeral.
The illusion of success has Dipset feeling they have established themselves as one of the more popular hip hop groups. They have an array of mixtapes and have had some mainstream success. From this writer’s perspective, this group felt that a couple of hot tracks and two good albums made them rap’s “Voltronâ€. They have the potential to be a dynasty and the potential to sell a lot of records, but at this point in the rap game, anyone with a hot beat has that same potential. Most of their records are brash with more tough talk and threats then actual content. They work so hard to keep this “gangsta gangsta†attitude that eventually they end up stepping on each others toes along with everyone who isn’t on their team. The suspects of their murder are the following: Jay-Z, Nas, 50 Cent, Camron, JimJones, Mase, and Soundscan. Jay-Z and Nas may want to end the careers of The Diplomats and 50 Cent wants to put Camron in his place, but mark my words, the death of Dipset will be by Dipset itself. Their immediate future shows that they might be done before the end of 2008. Before this rap group ever has a chance to even come close to Dynasty status, they will fall apart.
Dipset has been known to have a of couple of lyricists on their label, but they have yet to consistently put out artists who can do more than throw a couple of threats over a beat on a mixtape. Many of their albums have lacked in depth content and mainstream success. They have had a couple of songs that saw mainstream success (We Fly High, The Whistle Song, Oh Boy) but for the most part they have only had regional and mixtape success. When comparing them to other artists, their albums do not match up. Dipset has claimed to be New York’s Dynasty. They claim to be a movement. And while they do have a cult following, that’s about all they have, a cult following.
As a label, they have officially had two Platinum selling artists. They were “Killa†Camron Giles and Juelz Santana . Camron’s highest sale total was 1.6 million. When he went platinum, he (as well as Dipset) was under the mainstream label, and Hip Hop Dynasty in their own right, Roc-a-Fella Records. Since Camron left Roc-a-Fella, he has failed to reach platinum status. His first album since leaving Roc-a-Fella has sold only 391,000 and was considered a flop. Juelz Santana top selling album sold 1.1 million and it took almost a year for the album to go platinum. Furthermore, he did this while being officially signed to DefJam records, meaning Diplomat records had nothing to do with the success of his album. Besides these two, no other Dipset artist has even been able to sell up to 500,000 records, let alone go platinum.
Outside of New York, the group as a whole is not well known. If you go out to Detroit and ask a rap fan if they know who 40 Cal is, they might not be able to answer your question, and now that I think about it…who is 40 Cal? How much longer will the unsuccessful members of the Dip stand by and take secondary money? There are way too many egos and far to many chiefs for this tribe to stand pact.
Do you honestly think the like’s of JR Writer, 40 cal, Hell Rell, and the rest of Harlem super friends will happily take Camron, Jim Jones, and Juelz Santana’s sloppy seconds? When you have members of your crew going to jail for street crimes, things can’t be as good as you say. If everyone is eating, what is the point of pulling a robbery? They do not have the mainstream notoriety that is needed to gain the status a true Dynasty needs. Dipset has nothing over any other alleged “super group†that makes them stand out. They are the baseball team with no closer, the football team without a franchise quarterback, the basketball team without a go-to guy. They are a team of lyrical role players, and trust me, this is eating at them. You don’t think it bothers Hell Rell when he leaves New York and no one knows his name? JR Writer definitely doesn’t want to be Cam’ron’s sidekick for the rest of his career. I can guarantee to you that he has ambitious thoughts and idea’s of his own. Eventually his frustrations will boil over, maybe sooner than we know.
They had promise for a while, but everyday that passes by, their death seems imminent. As of now, they have nothing new to offer the Hip Hop game. They have failed to sell records and seem to be self destructing with in-fighting, the most notable being the rumored tension between the co founders of DipSet: Camron Giles and Jim Jones. There have been rumors that the tension began because of Jim Jones rising success. While ‘Ballin’ turned out to be the summer anthem, “Killa Season†was a flop with an even worse DVD to add to the CD. More recently, Camron was rumored to have insulted Jim Jones, saying that he made DipSet look soft for running, during the Rucker Park incident. As of late they do not seem as if they are on the same page. Just recently, Camron was in a heated argument with 50 Cent of G-unit, where he seemed to be provoking a new beef, but later in that show Jim Jones called in going against what Camron was saying to 50 Cent and, in a way, undermining his partner. No later than 50 put out a diss track towards Killa, Camron replied, but unlike his other beefs, there have yet to be any responses. When the bulls won’t play with Jordan, the championship will never touch the soil of Chicago. Camron is supposed to be their Jordan and no one is coming to his aid. That alone says a lot. No other member of the Dip seems to have this beef on their radar. When your team won’t ride with you, then you’re in trouble.
There has also been rumored tension between 40 Cal and Camron, as well as JR Writer and Jim Jones. There have been rumbles among the Dipset family that certain artists are not happy with the way their projects are being handled. They may have been a strong unit before, but the fastest way to destroy a strong team is from within. Now that we are at the funeral and the first pillars of soil are being thrown on the casket, I can not help but shake my head in a manner that says it all. This death was no mistake. It was meant to happen.
Do I regret it? In a way I do, but when you put the gun to your own head, pity can not easily follow the aftermath of your decision. It takes so much to make a true dynasty and when you do have one, it is a forced to be reckoned with for a long time. Everyone on that team seems to succeed and everyone who is NOT on the team either wants to join them or hates them with a deep seeded passion. What mainstream artist wants to be a part of Dipset? What mainstream artist have they been able to sign? They can’t even get a mainstream distribution deal, instead settling for Koch and Asylum. Hip Hop Dynasties do not have to work as hard to sell records or even to attract fans. Their name alone sells records, and sells out stadiums. Their presence alone strikes fear into the competition. They are known worldwide and have permanent fixtures at the top of the charts. Classic albums are not taboo to them and platinum status alone is a failure. Everyone seems like a winner and everyone is on the same team, watching each others back, with no one able to take away from their limelight.
In retrospect, there is nothing left to do but put a dozen roses and a mixtape over their grave. Dipset is dead. You have been to the funeral and now you can watch with your own two eyes how they shoot each other down and die the death of a thousand failures.

What's up People!
On Styles P...
I'm under the belief that selling billions of records doesn't make u a great artist. Styles, in my opinion,
is not going 2 sell like that, nor do I think he's a great rapper. Perhaps, he should be satisfied with doing what he can do in his lane.
Styles has a respectable place in the game but every rapper can't become an icon.
As 4 50,
He totally erased Styls in their telephone interview. Styles came @ him on some really hood jargon and 50 smashed him cool & calm.
I'm not a 50 fan and I've been far from impressed from most of what he says but he handled styles.
Doc Doom, real name Dante Cunningham,
...Never heard of him but I'm feeling 4 his family nonetheless....
Black on Black Crime is uglier than the crack epidemic!
Speaking of such, I don't understand how 50 Cent can call KOCH a graveyard and then allow one of his artists to release an album under that very label... unless he's admitting to all that Mobb Deep's career is dead. How's that for support.
***I agree with this observation***...
This isn't an observation, you are supposed to be writing a blog of your thoughts not just repeating what you hear on the radio, come on at least give credit where credit is due, Camron, in case you didn't hear said this the other day, not that I agree but know your trying to write it like you thought this first! Nice A1 journalism on this site.
Styles will do better at Koch. He can make the type of shit he feels. Hopefully he won't be leaked like crazy like the last album. Dun is serious & his shit won't be pushed back.
There is a method to 50's madness. Calling Koch a graveyard was a dart thrown at Cam. He really does not believe that. He just says shit to make publicity happen. He is putting the Koch name out there and it is working. I have heard more about Koch in the last week then I have heard in the last 4 years. Prodigy will make more money on that indy label then he did on Blood Money, I guarntee it. 50 is doing Prodigy a favor by letting him make moves over there. Watch!

Yes, it is an observation (my thoughts) exactly....sometime people have the same opinion on situations....I did hear the whole interview between Cam & 50 and personally my thoughts are if Mobb Deep, Lloyd Banks, Olivia(even though) they really wasn't mentioned in the interview...if their careers are over, would 50 consider allowing them to jump ship over to Koch records also????...he didn't come right out & say but, it's not hard to read between the lines!!!!
@ BK Dude
I disagree completely. The only thing Diddy will do is release his shit right after Styles and steal his buzz. Look at DK. This nigga released 3 videos already and they only had one video and came out before him.
Diddy would have them sign a contract their grandkids would be bound to. I think the best thing for Styles to do is a mainstream D Block album and release his solo LP off the buzz from that.
PEACE
@ New Skool
To each his own homie!
anybody who thinks 50 "smashed" Styles P in that interview is fucking retarded and has no idea what they're talking about...Both held their ground in that interview and if ANYBODY got the best of the other it was Styles P getting the best of 50...
@Reckless:
Did you not hear 50's response to why he let Prodigy do the deal at Koch?...It wasn't because he was saying his career is over, it's because Prodigy wanted to drop an album but Buck, Yayo, and 50 are dropping albums this year so there was no room to push out P's album...Therefore he "Let him" do the deal at Koch because he didn't wanna hold him back from dropping his material and possibly making some money...
Get your facts straight!...
As soon as 50 comes on and says - they ain't getting what they say they getting, y'all jump up and down and believe him like he is a fuckin prophet. It's pathetic.

You serious? This would be one of the worst things that they could do.
Going back to Diddy is the industry equivalent to purposely dropping the soap in jail. Shit would destroy all the L.O.X. have tried to build. They left because (like we all know) Diddy is an artist control freak, and tries to make YOU in his HIS image, instead of letting artists just do them. Believe when I say it was only a matter a time before he would've tried to have BIG in big ass garbage bag two stepping, rockin some shades and a fucked up headband...
Not a good look at all.
In any case the L.O.X. collaboratively are "stars". They did the numbers if you recall, both of the group albums are plat.
Now individually, it's another story.
Kiss is the only bona fide star in the group. First album was knockin on plat, and he got over the hump with his second effort. He has street cred out the ass (despite never going to jail). He's done callbos with damn near everyone worth mentioning in the game. He just needs to drop more consistently. He risks being forgotten by letting too much time pass between albums...
Styles kind of grew on me...I didn't really like dude at first. He never will do the major numbers, but at this point he doesn't seem to care. Looks like he's just chasing that independent money...I can't knock that. Still, I'm looking forward to the new album.
Ditto that for Sheek. "After Taxes" was fire.
Make no mistake though, they're some of the best that the game has to offer.
The biggest question I have would be why did they stop working as a group?
Shouts to all the usuals.
Easy.

Good morning hon whats good? Are we still on that Can and 50 beef?..lol
And Yes 50 believes KOCH is a graveyard because it is a graveyard...What artist who is making any kind of noise tries to sign a deal at KOCH?...The only time niggas go to KOCH is when they realize they aint never gonna gain the commericial success and become major stars and they wanna make some money...
Guaranteed, all of these artists praising KOCH would jump off in a heartbeat if they get a hit record that gives them mainstream successs...

That's real. Still, 50 contradicted himself.
On one hand, he's trying to say the Mobb is still hot, and relevant in the game.
Then lets his boy sign over there with KOCH. So he's saying that P's career, at least on an individual level is dead.
No other way to put it.
Yeh if you check the history books and diddy said it himself every artist that was ever signed to Badboy was more famous when they was on Badboy! But unfortunately they dissed diddy so bad on the radio i think they also managed to burn that bridge,
