Yeah. Check the fronts. The proof is finally here for those who never believed. SOHH fifteen years ago.

According to MTV Mixtape Monday, Nas might be taking the remixes to the TV screen. Considering how many people were strewn across all three remixes ( 90s all-star mix, 80s and Westcoast all-star mix), this show, if ever pursued, might turn out to be quite interesting. He told MTV:
"First we wanted to get it out to people and just enjoy it. Now we're thinking about going in on a TV show to find out where them niggas was at. I wanna see. These muthafuckas ain't old to me. And if they are old, that's nothing to take away from them. Man, these muthafuckas are interesting people. They're part of the whole foundation. They are the blocks, them big boulders underneath the pretty surfaces. They need to be looked at like that. Even if it's for a second, let's be real, you can't expect all these niggas to drop new albums, but it's good to see that they still here. They ain't gotta come out and go platinum, they can do different shit. It's just good to show love."
Didn't that fool Pimp do his research before he opened his mouth? It's Illmatic.
Via Gwu.edu

"The Source, Issue #55, 1994"
"While the media was hyping Snoop's album as the most anticipated debut of all time, many of us in the hip hop core had our eyes on another prize - Illmatic, the debut "reality story book" from Queensbridge's Nas (formerly known as Nasty Nas). After peeping his skill on "Live at the BBQ," "Back to the Grill," and the official bomb, "Halftime," street dwellers and industry folks alike were predicting Nas' first album to be monumental.
"Now, I'm not one to sweat the next man, but... I must maintain that this is one of the best hip hop albums I have ever heard. Word. Let me speak on it.
"Musically, when Nas hooked up with four of hip hop's purest producers it seems like all of the parties involved took their game to a higher level of expression. Whether listening to the dark piano chords of Pete Rock's meaner side on "The World is Yours," or Primo's sinister bounce on "Represent," or Large Professor's old school sound on "Memory Lane" [ED, Noz - That's actually Primo's doing also] or Q-Tip's jazzy marimba melody on "One Love" - it all motivates. Your mind races to keep up with Nas' lyricism, while your body dips to the beat. Lyrically, the whole shit is on point. No cliched metaphors, no gimmicks. Never too abstract, never superficial. Even the skit-intros are meaningful and the album's only guest rapper, AZ, is dangerous in his own right. (And he's unsigned too? Not for long son.) Nas is just the epitome of that "New York State of Mind" in terms of style and delivery. But even outside of the "Rotten Apple" - "Listeners, bluntheads, fly ladies and prisoners, Hennessy-holders and Old School niggas" from all over will be able to relate to Nas' many techniques. Nas creates fantasy: "I drink moet with Medusa/Giver her shotguns in hell/From the spliff that I lift and inhale." He philosophizes: "I switched my motto/Instead of saying 'Fuck tomorrow'/That buck that bought a bottle/Coulda struck the Lott." He flows "One for the money / Two for pussy and foreign cars / Three for alizae, niggas deceased or behind bars / I rap divine, god/ check the prognosis, is it real as showbiz / my window faces shootouts / Drug overdoses / Live amongst no roses, only the drama / For real, a nickel plate is my fate / My medicine is the ganja." And on, and on...
"Nas' images remind me a lot of personal memories and people both passed and present, so the impact goes beyond just the entertainment aspect. All this may sound like melodrama but it's not just me, I've been hearing similar responses all over. While "Memory Lane" is my shit, my homies claim "The World is Yours" and if you've got peoples doing time, then "One Love" may hit you the hardest. There's nothing wack though, just different intesities for different people to relate to. The bottom line is this: even if the album doesn't speak to you on that personal level, the music itself is still well worth the money. If you can't at least appreciate the value of Nas' poetical realism, then you best get yourself up out of hip hop. Keep it real, baby."

With HHID currently on the shelves, where is he now?

NaS is the truth...he's album is sick....truth be told....u need to listen to that album over and over to real grasp it....but when u do....you'll be amazed...seriously! Hope that reality show makes it to the screen....that would be interesting as helpful in understand the Hip Hop culture.
His album* and as well*
I think that Nas should leave the television alone, part of what has made him such an enigma and almost if not God like emcee is his distance from the rest of us who can't tell you a whole lot about the personalites of the rappers who flood the radio and television, showing other older emcees who are for a lack of a better word retired would somewhat to me fall in the lines of tarnishing their previous efforts that made us feel as though they reigned supreme in their time. I'm happy with the times i had with Naughty by Nature but i want to remember myself being however old i was chasing crack heads that stole some shit out of some peoples houses with machetes and bats with nails in them as opposed to seeing a older it seems dumber and less conscious Treach hosting Soul Train. (Side Note: i was a bit wild).
Illmatic was your life Story if you grew up in the uban landscape I don't care where the Fuck you were from this was your story maybe not illustrated as elloquently as Nas put it but this was shit you saw, I think I was like 14 when it came out but it just spoke to you if you had half a brain. "Yo I'm living where the nights is jet black/ the fiends fight to get crack" it was just your reality. But it catered to New Yorkers Personally because that feeling we have all felt what recognized and brought to the light; the NY state of mind. I don't mean to be arrogant in anyway but unless you live here you can't feel it just like I can't feel crunk truly in my heart because I'm not native to it. But I love my kingdom because that's what ILLMATIC repped to me
Yo I'm one of Nas's biggest fans. Shit, look at my display name (check your history on that one). I would love to see a reality show with him, that shit would be dope as hell for real. I do agree with Big Sun in a way though because if he puts himself out there he will lose that "invicibility" that he currently has, that mysteriousness that we all love. But I don't give a damn, I still wanna see that shit. Illmatic is still the best album of all time, and HHID is the truth! Nas is that nigga! G.O.A.T.
good blog rez
but the south still started fronts, grills whatever maybe the wu was the first yall seen but down here all the elders still have gold teeth from the 60's and 70's my grandpa told me all his freinds gotem back in the day so whitefolks would think they had alittle money no disrespect but the gold teeth is something new youk cant claim
I wonder how long it will take before niggaz get on here talking about 50 and Dipset Beefing?
I agree with Big Sun and dude after him I would love to see all the classic emcees showing there is life after hip hop like Roxanne Shante has a PH.D and owns an Ice Cream Parlor things like that I heard one of JJ fad is a successful nurse and proud mother Kool herc got the Sedgewick and Cedar clothing line so that is cool but as long as they are not portrayed as complaining has beens then that is cool. Also to make a point to Randy about the Gold teeth if you wanna take it back to the 60s damn near everyregion peopl had gold teeth st. louis Chicago Neyork tyhe South that dates back to the 1800'sw but as far as relevant history (Hip Hop if you will) NY started it first period!
Illmatic was dope, everything after went downhill. Stilmatic had good songs, the other albms are total ass though.
this blog is like a ny rapper corNY! Its more things going on more than nas on tv, so what. what about obama? or bout the importance of va and missouri apology for slavery?

homie that laffy taffy and all that junk is for a target audience, if you dont like it it's cool but dont down it cause when my nephew likes the song and jams to it it's cool, I dont care for the song myself, but still the music cant be for all of the adults. i see that you understand the music but you have to understand the business, that's why some of your favorite artis arent shining like you would like them too, b/c they are artist and not business men.. i dont like Jay-z but i give him credit for being a business man, and just like Laffy Taffy, he put songs out for a target audience (remember that hard knock life song) hard knock life was more geared toward the kids, and "I just wanna love you" was geared toward the people who like the booty shake music, then he comes out with "brush ya' sholders off" for the clubs, and this new song "lost ones" is going for the older people.... these rappers you like right now are just rhyimg over beats and not thinking of who they want to target their song to... for these guys to be successful business men in the rap game they have to understand that there are diffrent strokes for diffrent folks.
ya' feel me?
Nas, get that video poppin man...fuck it, I'll direct it for free.

I wouldn't trip about Nas going commercial. I thought for a min he would go that way when he dropped Nastradamus.
That (obviously) didn't work so he fell back, and came back hard with Stillmatic. More importantly, he came back doing what he normally does.
Besides, if it's only a video we talkin, it should be aight.

Thats why the man talks about Hip hop is dead! You talking about businessman this ,businessman that, It aint about it being a business folks! Its about the art form of hip hop, the message you get across to your people. Of course tell your life story or what have you, but once it got to be about the money and not the love, the shit starting going downhill......D4L about to be on the down south version of "Where are they now!!" I aint hating, but where's the other music at?
OK I GOT A QUESTION WHAT ALBUM DID YALL THINK WAS A BETTER QUEENS ALBUM??? NAS- ILLMATIC OR MOBB DEEP- THE INFAMOUS?? I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT DA PEOPLE THINK ME MY OPINION I WOULD HAVE 2 SAY THE INFAMOUS IT MAY B SOME 2 DISAGREE BUT I WANNA HEAR WHAT YALL GOT 2 SAY

So you mean to tell me that these rappers should just rap, and leave these rich Label owners to making the money. that's crazy if you are a artist and get a big break why not try to get some of this money that these big wigs are gettin. rappin doesnt mean nothing to these wealthy Americans making that real guap, that's why you see Diddy, shaking hands and shit with the President and the first lady. then comming out with clothing lines "it's bigger than Hip Hop, it's paving a way for other black people to compete with Corprate America, and if this music can get your foot in the door so that a black man can become the next Bill Gates so be it.
being a buisness man is important, that's why Nas is doing this where are they now shit, cause rappers cant be rappers forever, what are they going to fall back on if they get Ja Ruled, or their music becomes lame, or if they fall off somewhay or another. you cant go from Rapping to McDonalds. you better focus on going from Rappin to Dow Jones or something.
Finally a blog with some substance!! Illmatic is hands down the most artistically creative, thought provoking, inspirational album ever in the genre of hip hop. Does it make nas the g.o.a.t? It should but it won't, not until another fifteen years from now. When the genre is completely dead and gone, this gem will still be an underground diamond still only shining at half it's worth. This was a beacon of light to an entire movement...the jay-z's and paps and fab's and anyone else who came afterwards just really owe alot to this album. Jay needs to man up and come clean about reasonable doubt really being inspired by the tales of gangsta's from illmatic. Ironically alot of these artists themselves can't see the connection but a real nas fan can!!
So for you..50cent lovin', d4l pumping, ugk thumpin'dipset reppin' rocawear-in', politickin' about this cat is ill and that cat's the best..the truth is..none of those artists will be relevant in 15 years...Nas is and will be.. and when you create a brand that stands out...it lives forever..illmatic forever!!
YES sorry i couldn't be in here yesterday day after the superbowl, and by the way im still jamin that nas CD, classic! he spits alot of knowledge for young niggas like myself to acknowledge our past. I learned so much from his album as far as history goes and who did it b4 me and who paved the way and we should give props to those and never forget those cuz thats like forgettin yo moms and pops just cuz u grown and got yo own money, thats wrong and we shouldn't do it. Real Tawk!
so where are those sad lil cubs i meant bears fans at?????????????????

Its about the art form of hip hop, the message you get across to your people.
Rappers have been putting out messages out since forever, but how did it change the way the hood works? it's still drugs in the hood. is't still murders in the Hood, niggas is still broke in the hood. niggas need to switch it up and stop talking about what we need to do to make things better for hood niggas, and start leading by example... Who ever thought that a rapper, or a nigga that's from the projects in NYC would become Part owner of the Nets?
Nas is really a legend. I still bump that illmatic up to now I got represent on repeat on my mp3 and I have to listen to it at list 5 times on my way to work never getting tired of that shit.......nas is the truff naff said

I cee where U're coming from Xclusive, but somebody's gotta save the youth, B. we can't just let them fall by the wayside like that.
I remember when I first heard Nas, he was that breath of fresh air, the same way Lupe is right now, I heard "It Ain't Hard 2 Tell" I think it was on a radio mixshow back in the day, started off with that "Right Here" rmx by SWV, then it went right in2 Nas, @ 1st, I thought Nas was just guest appearing on the song, until I heard Illmatic a week later.
Top Nas albums-Best song on album
1. Hip Hop Is Dead-2 Black Republican
2. Illmatic-NY State Of Mind
3. Stillmatic-U're Da Man
4. It Was Written-I Gave U Power
5. God's Son-Made U look
6. I Am-Nas Is Like
7. Street's Disciple-Thief's Theme
8. Nastradamus-The Life We Chose (one of the few songs I can listen 2 off that album)

I got up early Sunday, went 2 Bally's 2 work out 4 about 1-2 hours, went home, put on my Bears gear, went over 2 my brother's crib, made some kickass chili 4 the game, put some Tijuana Turnips in the air, after the game was over, the fellas wanted 2 play Madden on PS2, I left the game with them, and told them that my season on Madden is done after that heartbreaking loss.
