As previously reported, the Wu is officially back and will be ready to release their album sometime this summer.
"This is the perfect time for us to come back, the stars are aligned," explained RZA via a statement. "It's like when we first started with Steve. We put out real hip-hop at a time when it was turning into pop or R&B. We brought the focus back to the music in its rawest form, without studio polish or radio hooks."
"The energy is just like it was, and it's needed in our industry same as back then," added Rifkind. "Over the last few years, the group has developed a whole new fan base of 20-year-olds and even younger who've never even seen them play."
"People want something that gives them an adrenaline rush," emphasized RZA. "We're here to supply that fix. How could hip-hop be dead if Wu-Tang is forever? We're here to revive the spirit and the economics and bring in a wave of energy that has lately dissipated."
But as most have said, the Wu is too complex, too raw and uncut for the consumers of today. I honestly don't think this album will be appreciated. Meanwhile, their compilation project, Unreleased (pictured above), is set for release this March. Go and cop that.
And by the way, people are speculating that RZA is taking shots at Nas with that statement about hip-hop being dead. But the tone of that quote, if you pay close attention, suggests otherwise...
Interpret that however you like.

i guess only people in NY think hip hop is dead
i jes saw a video from Austin, TX and i gotta say it's alive thea
I doubt rza is taking shots at nas. Stop trying to start shit.
Hey Bayan Yeah it ain't people in NY that's the only one's who feel it's dead, You probably don't understand what real Hip Hop is and that's why you feel it's alive. The lyrics are gone the shit ain't poetic, it's bland subject matter the videos are the same, and all these dummies think that because people are making money off the industry that these artists are doing Hip Hop. Hip Hop was not born with money nor are it's roots in Money. The main focus of the culture was born out of minority struggle. Shit ain't changed today, we still struggling as a culture but now there is less unity. When the smoke and cameras disappear there is nothing behind these artists (Pause let me not call them artists because that would suggest art is being made) these rappers. There aren't a lot of people telling you, your fam, or these kids the real shit going on. Fuck you got a 120,000 kids dying everyday in Darfur, people who lived in the N.O. ain't get no type of relief and KANYE WEST WAS THE ONLY ONE GANGSTA ENOUGH TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I don't want to hear another person come at that mans neck on some Kanyes gay shit when he had the nuts to say that shit, Faggot ass rappers. Niggas wanna come at Oprahs neck she's puttin schools in Africa side note, FUck Ice Cube, Luda, Killer Mike, and 50 cent, You ain't tryin to have Oprah on your album she don't want you on her show, fair exchange no robbery, stop knockin a Black Womans hustle, you got a private gripe keep it to yourself; just like a bitch ass nigga to challenge a woman, what kinda man is that. Hip Hop is full of Faggots I mean real faggots who wear shit to make other nigga's jealous jewels cars everything dudes are pinky's up for real, not relaizing that the bitches only want them for what they got, the Woman who don't take half your shit just want stability and love. Can't blame the Black woman for the problem of hip hop she's just followed the black man down the hole to hell, we gotta ask for more want to become more intelligent and demand better hip hop and not this watered down laffy taffy motorcycle dancing bullshit. And will you niggas stop dancing please, I am tired of seeing niggas dancing but can't tell me who the fuck Fred Hampton was. Dumb Mutha Phuckas have some fuckin pride and than hip hop will go back to it's golden age.
And as far as the Wu goes they were my favorite group back in the day because they were raw no B.S. just shootin videos in the projects, with real lyrics for the people and kids, fuck I was a kid. I was happy to see there sucess but commerce plays a part in the destruction of everything so in essence they predicted their own downfall with the hook of Cash Rules Everything Around Me. It may be wishful thinking but I hope they can discover the magic that was; however it's hard to do when your not struggling and you don't have to worry about the same things that kept you from eating and you've cleared the Blocks that carved there tragic images in your head, good Luck to the WU and real hip hop, I miss you. Peace to the usuals XbK, Huey, BXconnect, B-stuy Long, evil Jesus, PZ, Black Friday, Tah, DUh, t-cool, Noria and anyone else I forgot.
u a bit deviated from the subject but that's aaight
what urban culture disappeared? it died? u tell me
i guess u want hip hop to be something else, or at least to more than it's enough for it to be
Hip Hop is deviating from what it was originally was, due to monatary influence people who thought they made it have become so bragadocious to audience of have-nots that it propetuates the need for have nots to think in terms of the microwave lifestyle; hustle to buy a gun, than hustle to get money, than shoot any nigga trying to take it, go to jail write your rap lyrics and get a deal. I want Hip Hop to stop lying to itself. I am all over the board sometimes with my thoughts but they all connect in the end. If you look at the 5 elements of hip hop they ain't dead but they need the defib badly, Hip Hop is in ICU. Jazz is dead amongst our culture if you go to a jazz club these days we are not in there white people are, Rock and Roll is dead to us we don't do Rock and roll anymore the last rock and roll minority group was Black Jack Johnson and before them "in living color" Who we allowed to get bashed in Rolling stone. We don't make Hip Hop millions white people do, we don't recognize the real art of our culture on a massive scale white people do. The Roots are real Hip Hop they embody true music we let them down. Hip Hop dies when we let it get assimilated the mainstream and the mainstream turns it from a music of struggle into well what it is now.

This is why I hope hip hop does die - and it will. Sometimes you have to destroy to rebuild. Record sales are on the decline. I hope somebody busts a cap in hip hop so something else can be invented and real hip hop music will remain in the underground like what happened to disco. Growing up in the 70's early 80's I remember when hip hop music first came on the radio and everybody said it was a fad. Well we, the hip hop generation just turned it into a fad and now it's going to end
RIP HIP HOP AND GOOD RIDDENS
NOW WE'LL SEE WHO THE REAL HIP HOPPAS ARE WON'T WE!!!
The return of the real in 2007. WU Tang is FOREVER! Complex yes, but people who grew up on th WU will support the product. My seed has already been schooled on the WU & he loves them. The most talented group of Emcee's to ever form a group. One love to the WU! Big ups to you Reckless for finally shinin some light. I am not even gonna post today. I am just gonna sit back check in & see if people really appreciate the artform, & culture that the WU has given our people.

Wu-tang is garbage now.... buying a new album from them is a waste of time and money........... stick to the karate movies...
you know who's fault it is that hip hop is dying? HERE IS MY TOP TEN LIST:
1. FAGGOT BITCH ASS NIGGAS RUNNING AROUND LIKE LITTLE GIRLS SHOWING OFF THEIR DIAMONDS, CARS AND GRILLS.
2. SEAN COMBS - FOR HELPING THEM FAGGOTS TURN INTO MATERIALISTIC FAGGOTS IN THE 90'S
3. MTV BET - ONLY SHOWING THE MUSIC SIDE OF THINGS AND NOT SHOWING THE CULTURE AS A WHOLE GRAF, DJING, BBOYING ETC. AND THE VIDEOS THEY DO SHOW ARE BY SLUT MONKEY NIGGAS ACTING HARD BUT ARE REALLY LITTLE GIRLS.
4. WE, THE FANS FOR NOT BUYING REAL HIP HOP MUSIC.
5. WE, THE FANS FOR BUYING BOOTLEG MUSIC
6. MIXTAPES FOR OVEREXPOSURE
7. THE RECORD EXECS FOR NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE DOING
8. FRANCHISE BOYS AND GROUPS LIKE THAT THAT BRING OUT FAGGOT DANCES AND CAN'T RAP (NOT BLAMING THE SOUTH - TRUST ME TO ME THE SOUTH IS MORE HIP HOP RIGHT NOW THAN THE NORTH
9. NEW YORK CITY FOR NOT SUPPORTING THEIR OWN ARTISTS AND MUSIC
10. THOSE BITCH ASS FAGGOT MONKEY SLUTS ON THE RADIO IN NEW YORK FOR PLAYING THE SAME FUCKING 5 SONGS EVERYDAY
Just want to throw this up for all of you bickering about this coast and that coast. NYC, FL, ATL STAND THE FUCK UP!!!!

I only like bout 50% of the Wu-tang and wu-tang affiliated songs, but it's cool that they comming out with a new album and all. They have the fan base to sell pretty well, and the'll get they money by tours. but don't expect to see them #1 on TRL or 106 & Park. They aint gonna have no top 10 single, and if they do debute in the top 10, they aint gonna stay there for long.

That's every where homie.
My question too is why won't TRL or 106 try playing some gutter shit for once. See how people will feel it instead of playing a shacking ass cut with some rapper groupies who we have seen in the previos video shaking there cha cha's in front of some stupid ass spinning rims.
Posted by: DJ Flame at January 25, 2007 8:23 AM
LMAO, but you forgot senseless beef that has taken away Hip-Hop's best and brightest. Hip-Hop would not be the same if Biggie, Pac, Pun and L were still here.

11. CORNY BEEF DID HELP KILL HIP HOP IT AINT FUN NO MORE. I HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR THOSE TUTTIE FRUITIE DANCE MUSIC FAGGOTS THAN THESE FAKE ASS HIP HOP FANS AND ARTIST. AT LEAST THEY TRUE TO THEMSELVES. THINK ABOUT IT.
FRANCHISE BOYS AND GROUPS LIKE THAT THAT BRING OUT FAGGOT DANCES AND CAN'T RAP (NOT BLAMING THE SOUTH - TRUST ME TO ME THE SOUTH IS MORE HIP HOP RIGHT NOW THAN THE NORTH
Real Talk, that shit was creative as hell, niggaz been putting out dances in hip hop since day one, but to make a dance and then make music that you can use the dance to... you can get crunk to crunk music, you can snap to snap music, you can go dumb to hyphy music, but you can only chicken noodle soup to that one song... remember back in the day when niggaz used to dance to the Breaking, B-Boy music what's not hip hop about that? Everybody can't spin on their head, black people love to dance let them dance. if they cant rap so what, as long as the music is bangin' and I can a chick to grind on me when it's playing i dont give a shit about the lyrics.
that last post I posted sounded like a 8th grader wrote it, i aint woke up yet this morning.
EB,
I'M GLAD YOU MENTIONED THAT AND YOU'RE RIGHT. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT HAVING DOPE LYRICS. IF WE LET WACK LYRICS SLIDE NOW, WHEN WILL IT END? THERE WERE MAD DANCES, TRUE INDEED AND YOU NEED THAT, BUT YOU GOT TO BE ON POINT WITH THE LYRICS. NOT PREACHY STUFF JUST BE CREATIVE WITH IT. ROCKERS AND LISTEN TO THEIR MUSIC AND DANCE. CAN YOU HONESTLY LISTEN TO FRANCHISE BOYS AND CHILL WITH IT? NO! VARIETY NIGGAS. WE NEED IT. I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE ALL TYPES OF ARTISTS BUT IF YOU CALL YOURSELF AN ARTIST CREATE SOMETHING CREATIVE AND DOPE AT THE SAME TIME. WE ARE SPENDING MONEY ON THESE NIGGAS, I WANT MY MONEY'S WORTH
Machine gun rap for all my niggaz in the back
Stadium packed, linebacker nigga flashback
See through yellow lines
Rock a fly jersey in the summertime God
Magic marker rap, bleed Benatton
Relaxed, wrote this, comin at cha crab ass cope
and snatch ya ice off, chillin in the back, throw the lights off
Waves, water blend, rhyme flow in slow motion
Thick snare, I'm feelin like a snail in the ocean
What's your wish? Wanna Kringle like Kris?
Melodic single, dark snap a nigga just like fish
You fucked up, some rich niggaz you done test yo
Select the wrong apartment, and niggaz pulled up your dress
Style molest that, canal chain nigga where ya vest at
Flex'll make me wanna bless that, yo
Saddam Hu-sane niggaz light the torch, we flamin niggaz
Autograph that, flatten all the main niggaz
But as most have said, the Wu is too complex, too raw and uncut for the consumers of today. I honestly don't think this album will be appreciated.

CO-SIGN!
I tell you what though, one of the dopest albums ever released...and none has been released to come close since that time, is the 36 Chambers. Nothing even remotely close has ever been released. Raes album was sick, but it could never impact like the first Wu-tang. Only because that was the first..and it set the stage for the Rae album. But when that 36 chambers dropped, it was untouchable. Still is...it IS it's own lane, and none of their solo joints can even ride in that lane.
That was back in the days when "The Source" trully was the hip hop bible...and I was jankin CDs just off the strenght of what they had to say about it. Anybody remember the first interview with the Source, and Ghostface had that black mask on his face...it was a new day.
I tell you what, with that album...Wu-Tang took over middle Georgia! As a young buck, underage...many blunts were smoked and quarts smashed bumpin that CD. That CD made a dude feel invincible too...music don't do that no more. That feeling, I ain't felt it since. Maybe it was because I was a young knucklehead at the time and have grown up and changed since.
But kickin back in the parkin lot..."I grew up on the crime side, the new york time side, stayin alive was no jive" bumpin loud out the car speakers, drank in hand...repeating the words with fury as if I was part of the Wu myself and passing blunts with a bent mind...I'll never forget those days.
R.I.P Hip Hop.
Christ Bless!

Wu-Tang Forever
I was playing ODB's album and I missed that dude. I appreciate all of the contributions the WU made to hip hop.

co-sign! i don't have to be enlighted, or blown away by lyrical prowess to like a song. Besides, complex rhyme scemes, and metaphores didn't become popular until the late 80's and early 90's. would u say that Curtis Blow should fall off? Heavy D wasn't twistin anybody's mind, is he considered garbage? And if u told me that in EVERY song u ever liked, the rapper lyrically killed it, i would say u a muh'phukin lie.

I understand what you saying homie, but on the real i didnt buy the DFB album, cause i know that i wouldnt play it on the regular, but if the girls like it i will play that shit, i got that D4L though... true indeed they cant rap that well but that "Scotty" song be going off, and they just remind me of the adverage ass nigga i grew up with in the south, plus Fabo go hard... i cant dance, you wont catch me snappin' but i enjoy seeing the kids do it, i'm to old for that shit... but yeah i can probably listen to franchise and chill cause when i chill i'm chilling with my homeboy Paul Mason, Franchise boys go good with brown liquor... but for real lyrics dont matter much to me, i'm one of them south cats that grew up on luke,69 boyz, 95 south, and I like whatever that going to get the girls to shaking that ass, or grinding on you, i cant grope a female, at a party or at the club listening to Wu-tang... i'm a man i want some pussy, that's what it's all about, if i run into a girl that get turned on by listening to some Wu-tang, we gonna play some wu-tang.
whats the point in not giving the wu a chance today because they are "too complex"? They have made some of the most multi-layered records in hip hop history. Their MCs have some of the most intricate rhyme styles. The whole idea is that you keep listening to their music and whats great about it is that everytime u hear their tracks you pick up on something you missed the last time or woteva. Thats whats wrong wiv the fans today - nobody will listen unless they are bombarded wiv simple images of bling, money , women etc straight from the first time they hear it. Right now its too easy for rappers to be lazy with their work. What we need is for us as fans to demand more lyrically and then when groups like the wu get their props rappers will realise that it takes so much more to create meaningful hip hop.
Wu-tang is garbage now.... buying a new album from them is a waste of time and money........... stick to the karate movies...

Wu-Tang forever is more than a figure of speech. I have yet to see a group where all the members are incredible lyricists and legends in their own right.

Agreed. Lighten up or tune out. Not every artist (use the term loosely) is going to spit some shit to make you really think...thats not the lane that every artist (again loosely) is meant to ride. Dancing? That's all we did back in the 80's. Dance, wear stupid amounts of gold, same thing as now. The only problem now is that the focus is more and more on the Southern artists and well New Yorkers don't like it. But in my personal opinion, not everything is "hip-hop". Some of it is just rap. Plain and simple. So if people want to go back to true hip hop. They can spin on their head, go spray paint a building or fight the power. But don't blame the masses for listening/supporting, music that they like and think they are all ignorant. Times have changed. We are getting older. A new sub-genre is emerging. Deal with it. You wanna be 50 years old at a Wu-Tang concert jumping around talking about smoking cocaine laced blunts? GTFOH.
All ever wanted was another wutang album. I dont give a fuck if them niggas rap until they 50, I guarantee I get more from a wu album then I get from majority of these hiphop albums out now.

I agree with that. Lyrically all them dudes are superior to most of these lil niccas thats out now. So support them! Buy their album! Go seem them on tour! I just don't think its fair to play the "blame game" if they are not embraced by the consumers of today. Artistically we are in a different place now then we were ten years ago. The same as hip hop wasn't the same in 1986 as it was in 1996, the times are a changing...
Another Wu-Tang album will be the greatest moment in hip hop history. This will definately bring hip hop back.

If you need a rapper to make you think you need to kill yourself... Hip hop has never done shit for me... i dont need wu-tang to make me think, i need a fucking brain to think.... you are an idiot and need to go seek education at a school and not at a record store...
That's why it's up 2 cats like us, their TRUE fans, 2 keep the Wu Tangs, the Jay-Zs and Nas' relevant in Hip Hop
what the corporate Rap fans fail 2 cee is that the Wu Tang R innovators in Hip Hop, B4 them, no MCs were using Mafia aliases, poppin' Cris, and signing the group 2 one label then having each member sign 2 a different label, then, 2 top it all off, they're the biggest movement in Hip Hop since NWA
