Swizz Beatz: Party anthem of the year thus far?
First thing's first: Saigon needs to release his album. After months and months of him saying "The Greatest Story Never Told: coming soon," the ball has dropped, the tourists have cleared out, and the street sweepers have cleared the area. And with his week-long appearance on BET's "Rap City," It can be expected that his album is in the works for release. Hopefully.
The NEW New York, also known as Lower East Side's Tru Life, needs to put his foot on the accelerator. People are already forgetting the one and only rapper to ever rep L.E.S at this moment in hip-hop. Speaking of the New York movement, Busta Rhymes can make a hard comeback if he drops his album on time instead of pushing his album back five and six times. I'm no exec but this is common sense: before you drop a record that you know is going to be a big hit ("Touch It"), make sure all is in order for the album before hand, not after.
The streets are watching -- and growing tired of -- the kid Papoose. I got madd love for the kid, but I just don't see the hunger and thirst in his rhymes and swag that I saw back in 2004 and 2005. A single for the Nacerima Dream has yet to drop. But it's still early on in the year. People are wondering if an album full of his clever wordplay and gritty style can captivate a national audience. That's if he's the same Pap on the mainstream tip as he was on the underground scene. (See his video for "Alphabetical Slaughter on the main page).
Swizz Beatz’s new joint “It’s Me Bitches,†aka “Freeze†(“Chillin’ in my Beema/ listening to Ether…â€), has been a heavy hitter on the radio lately, and is almost as explosive as Busta’s “Touch it,†if not more. I’m curious to see how Swizz’s solo LP is going to turn out. This single says that it might work, but then again, this is 2007, the year after the 1st-3rd quarter flops, so only time will tell.

I'm not going to say that NY hasn't influenced its fair share of southern artist but is it unfathomable that some southern artists have influenced some east coast artists? Ponder on that for a sec.
I like music from everywhere. From your tone its like you only like east coast artists. Like you said, it is what it is. I can't honestly say how much or how long you've been listening to music from south but it doesn't sound like its been too long.

The only way NYC can get there swagger back is to unify and stop hating on each other and everybody else. They have to get over what NY use to be and focuss on where they want to take it. Face it the days of just being super lyrical is over. There are a million emcees that can spit fire all over the nation. Now you have to have something that set you a part and you have to make hot tracks that appeal to a wider audience! That requires them to be more open minded about different kinds of music! The music business is just that a Business and if your not selling and making a profit you want be around long. Don't sleep on Jesse Jackson. At least he shows up. Operation Push does a lot for the inner city schools and it's not as highly publicized as some of the other things. There are a lot of black preachers that lead large congregations that never do anything but line their pockets and give motivational speeches. At least when there's an issue, Jesse shows up to address it. Say it's a publicity stunt if you want to, but at least he's there. It's time out for smashing our leaders and all the hate. You don't have to follow every edict that they propose, but at least respect them for being on site.

I'm determined not to spend more than 30 minutes on this site on any given day...and put in the work that I'm being paid to do here on the job.
Alot of ya'll either need to do the same, or get a new job. Because being on this site as much as alot of ya'll are either (a) speaks of your lack of dedication and drive on the job, or (b) illustrates that the job you have does not require that much effort and attention and is probably not a good stepping stone for advancing to bigger and better things in the future.
Now I said it's an either or. For me, it has been the first of the two...but that's changing. Back to the subject at hand. Rap will suffer as a genre because the artist are no longer making songs based on concept. Artist concentrate on on personas (thug, drug dealer, boss, pimp) as a whole the music suffers. Papoose and Saigon are really good rappers. But they are stuck in tough guy mode and the music suffers. On the other hand,Lupe Fiasco is the truth and personifies what real hip hop is.

My point is basically this, if you come on here on the weekend or after workhours, the blog is absolutetly dead.
However, you come on here any given time during any given workday and you see the same people spending all of their time. So coming on here and constantly seeing the same old faces on here all day everyday during work time speaks on the fact that many people feel that the dime they are working on is less valuable to them than their own personal free time after hours...and that in itself is an indication of a need for self review and correction.
It is the type of "under appreciation" that is a big problem in the US. And you can even tie that somewhat of what Oprah was saying when she knew others over seas would appreciate more, and it also points to the immigration issue. You find one lazy illegal immigrant that will come waste valuable time on the job when they could be working to rise and improve.
It doesn't exist.

The truth about hip hop is that over the last 15 years or so, it has gone in cycles. In the early 90's the West had it, and then around 94/95 it turned back to the East after that it seemed that the dominance seemed to come from a few artist from all regions. There will come a time when the south won't have it and the artist that aren't really talking about sh*t will be forgotten. What I don't want to see is the artist that really have something to say start compromising their art. i know that it is a business, but that has to be a limit on what some will do.
