He and the Entertainers 4 Education Alliance (E4EA) are putting on the "Achieve Your Dreams Poetry Contest."
How fitting. Right after MLK Day.
Anyway, the student entrants will all write poems on why it’s important for them to achieve their dreams. Six of the kids who make the final round will get to read their poems to Capo.
The contest is supposed to encourage at-risk NYC kids to stay in school.

Don't get me wrong. I love Jim Jones. Dude is funny as hell. He's an entertainer and he does a great job at it. But at what point should entertainers be held responsible for their work? I mean, I know Jimmy's no role model, I get that. But how dyou rap about crack and baaaalllin, and then flip it and tell kids to stay in school? Just askin.

It's good to see anyone giving back to kids. With rappers nowadays, it's hard to judge them because most will tell you that their rap is an image or rap is a game so I guess we shouldn't take them so serious. On the other hand other artists are in the streets and grind illegally, but that doesn't mean they don't have morals. It just means that their morals are a little low.
Now it's hard for a coke dealer to tell me anything inspirational, but it may have an impact on a young kid is they see a big rap figure attempting to do something positive. Hip hop is in part about flipping negatives to get positve results anyway. Who knows? I gotta just commend his effort at least.
Emcee's are not role models. Their ish is entertainnment, glorification of street life. Some dudes have lived this shit and some haven't. The problem is young kids believe this shit. Parents at home need to step their game up, and let their own kids know shit is entertainment.I don't let my seed listen to most of the shit I bump. Mentaly they aint ready to here that.

You make some good points but I don't think you've watched American Gangster homes...they always point out what happens to these dudes in the end.

Off topic but I saw someone say this shit the other day and you sound retarded. Dude said that Dipset makes mad money over at KOCH and that they're suing KOCH because KOCH doesn't pay them. Nah they just stupid and didn't read the contract. Lemme break it down for you youngins.
1) Even at KOCH you have to sell a certain amount of records before you see any money from your cd. This is like if you supplying the block with snow you want back your investment then you give them a cut of the PROFIT.
2) So after 75,000-100,000 records you then get your $5 an album. Somebody said the label gets $15 an album but you're a retard homie. First off albums are selling for $10-12 now and that's RETAIL. The label is lucky to get $7-10 a cd now a days.
3) Now dipset sells about 100,000-200,000 records each album except Juelz who's on Def Jam so he don't count. That means they make 2 million dollars for KOCH. Now out of that 1 million (the first 100,000 cds) goes to KOCH and the extra $500,000 on average (300,000/2 = 150,000, so 50,000 left) is split 50/50. Dipset gets $250,000 and KOCH gets $250,000.
You dig? Out of that $250,000 some of it goes back to Dipset Records, the rest is for the cost of promotions and then the artist pockets the rest. At the end of the day Dipset artist are lucky to make $50,000-150,000 a year BEFORE TAXES. Yeah they making more then most but then they got other expenses. Their cost of living is eating up the little bit of doe they make THAT'S WHY THEY HAVE TO ROB DUDES.
P.S. Jim Jones is not giving to the community you dummies. He's looking for a tax write-off. By "donating" this money he doesn't pay tax on the same amount so he ends up saving money. There's a way to set it up.

Cost of living is not really eating up the Dips, its their mouthpieces. They "dug a hole" sort of speak. The hole is so deap, they held back Hell Rell's album back almost a year! This hurts because the longer they wait, the less likely they are to get a return on their investment. The more they go after rappers who are considered the heart of hip hop, the more their stock will continue to fall.
