It's Official: Swizz Slated to Release Solo LP, Where Would Hip-Hop be Without Mixtapes?

As previously reported, the kid Swizz is slated to drop his solo LP, One Man Band Man. The first single put into circulation, entitled "Come and Get Me," was the street single, and "It's Me Bitches" is the lead single for the album which is slated for release this spring.

That song is crazy in the club.

So, the RIAA has the underground game positioned face first above muddy water. This won't be a problem for most mixtape lovers residing in NYC-- thankfully-- because if it weren't for mixtapes I would barely be listening to hip-hop.

Mixunit, which I believe is based in CT, is easy access for federal trouble (alongside other mixtape websites), but the hood shops--tucked in and out of every other avenue Uptown, Brooklyn, and everywhere else--aren't. Still, the question remains: If the RIAA are taking measures such as these, how long will it take for them to randomly shut down shops that support the DJs? This, of course, would force many other hood spots near the targeted area to do just what Mixunit did: close up shop. At that point, you can really say that hip-hop is dead. No more Green Lantern cut and mix, no more DJ Fade (the REAL DJ Fade, the Justo Mixtape Rookie nominee). If we can't cop them from off the streets, and the internet is a no-go, then where will we get our music?

And for the millionth time, CD sales are down because of the lack of quality. The lessening of mixtape sales does not/will not result in the boost in regular CD sales. If anything, mixtapes, which are mostly intended for promo, encourage listeners to cop the real deal.

SWIZZ ALWAYS HAVE HOT BEATS! YEA LIKE THE BLOG SAYS WITOUT MIXTAPES.. NIGGAZ WON'T ANTICIPATE THE ALBUMS THAT GET RELEASED..

Getting at the mixtape game is basically the government attempting to toby the hip hop industry and in essence it has. This was meant to give you a ceiling for all of you who think like Puffy that you can't stop and you won't stop, you will cease and desist for the government. Maybe you wanna be rappers and former rappers should have sought out a seat in politics instead of worrying about "WHose stylin on you"

white folk slowly killin off hip hop whether niggas notice it or not all these niggas (mainly southern artist) think they gon withstand this lashin' it aint gon happen all the lil waynes and the young jeezys are done as far as sucess goes cuz all their fans came from mixtapes and without drama they really aint shit, sorry to say that to yall i only see ludacris surviving this shit out of the south, look for g-unit to make thier presence felt...again, and even ja rule will dominate this year so it will be another g-unit vs murder inc. year cuz those two camps have been very sucessful without mixtapes, but as far as lil wayne, jeezy, the game they aint gonna survive with out the mixtape curcuit this is even jadas chance to put up another platinum plaque 07' sorry to say this to the south and i wanted it to be for the midwest but this move benefits the NYC if your doing your homework and payin attention. well if u dont agree and you you know what you talkin about then state ya beef, but unless you cant prove me wrong then keep it to ya self

Oh I almost forgot to mention. FUCK BUsh; you gotta start your day off with that. What up to the usuals just taking a mild Vacation, what up XBK Dude, Big Up 2 BK, Tah i'll get at you on the email ma been busy, My Midwest twin Huey, Evil Jesus, Black Friday Where ever you are, T-cool, Duh, Noria, Eazy F, and i'll even shout PZ I'm feeling good today.

I don't think you could be more wrong -fucked up - you must have been drunk. This guy is predicting a murder inc comeback! that's like predicting a lakers superbowl win. First off if you gonna say something like lil wayne and jeezy aint shit without drama, understand that g-unit aint shit without green lantern. Four years ago 50 and company were on every mixtape imaginable selling their beef with ja. Mixtapes are essential to hip hop in general not just the south. Its where artists hone their craft and give the fans something to bump between albums. Its where new artists showcase their skills and give us something fresh. Every real hip hop head knows this its obvious you're a radio type of dude from your very cleo-esque statements. Anyway if mixtapes are shut down I'm inventing a new music genre because hip hop is going to get very boring.

I co-sign with Future and I agree that It is time for a new Genre in Black music maybe cats should learn how to play instruments again and invent music instead of rehash old shit.

Mixtapes don't hurt sales, bootleggin the actual album does. This mixtape thing hurts the sale of rap music more than help. alot of niggas wouldn't even get phuked with if it wasn't for them beastin somebody elses beat on a mixtape.

but whateva, i'm tired of mixtapes anyways, there's too many out. Plus the last couple i got were pure garbage and it sound like somebody recorded it in a bathroom. So i don't give a phuck if mixtapes never comeback, maybe niggas would focus more on makin a good album instead of spittin they best shit on a mixtape nobody even buys.Plus rap is boring me. For every wack hiphop cd i want to buy, i buy a rock album instead.

Hip Hop is under arrest!

Wayne has been on the scene since Hot Boys, back in 97 southerners have been listening to his music since before "the block is hot" ya'll acting like wayne is new, jeezy is new but he was putting a buzz in the streets, before people was buying mixtapes, matter of fact i dont buy mixtapes, i download songs for free, since it's a good chance that you dont get all of the songs on the album when you download i go get the CD at a later time...you act like the south doesnt have an underground scene, Mixtapes didnt put z-ro or T.I. on the scene. mixtapes may have put people who arent from the south on southern music but we have been listening to every artist that's out right now for years, mixtapes brought them to your attention.
southern consumers are always looking for southern artist, i never heard Rich boy's mixtape yet, but through word of mouth niggaz put me on that "Throw some D's", and now he's making a big buzz.

hip hop as a whole don't need no damn mixtapes.....

what we need is QUALITY,not QUANTITY

the real mixtape djs like dirty harry,dj odyssey,ty boogie, juice and green lantern will be around actually putting in work instead of just putting a bunch of tracks together on a cd and yelling over it.....fake dj's suck.

@ eb

These NYC cats think Wayne is a new jack. Wayne been in the game since '96, '97. Nigga I was in 8th grade bumpin that "Get it How U live". Back in the late 90's Wayne and the Hot Boys had the whole south on lock. They had everybody from Texas to Florida wearin soldier rags in 98. Its hard to believe that was 10 years ago. And I disagree with that comment that mixtapes didnt put Wayne or TI on the seen. TI dropped his first album Im serious first but that PSC in tha streets vol.1 mixtape is what made the streets of the A on fire

co-sign. If a southern artist get's on a dj's mixtape, chances is he already has a buz. In NY, u got J-Millz, Saigon, Papoose, and 1,000 other cats putting out 5 mixtapes a month with 30 songs on them, and still not make an actual album or put out a wack one.

Did I not get the newsflash or was Cassidy's accident a career ending! Its like DOC or something. Why would swizz whose last solo album bricked be putting out another one if Cass could still spit? he's obviously doing to keep the full surface brand relevant but I'm sorry Swizz's beats are cool but I cant take him rhyming! Where's Cassidy?

Posted by: fuji fuji at January 24, 2007 8:26 AM

No, we need mixtapes. Without them, you take away a lane that new artists can use to get on.

The hood uses mixtapes like little white boys and their shitty bands use MySpace. It's a way to get on and be heard.

@fuji fuji
I agree wit some of what you said. There are way too many garbage mixtapes out. Everyone thinks they are settin shit off. The thing is when I get a mixtape and it's garbage no big deal I get 10 for 20 bones. I mean shit is cheap so who cares.I never even thought of buyin a mixtape off the net, I cop mine on the street & I am sure my dude will still be out there slangin those things like product.

I feel you on that that was a hot mixtape, but I didnt even hear that mixtape until Trap Musick was always out, my nigga came back from the A banging that shit and i was banging both at the same time....

the point i was making is that the south been on the scene without mixtapes, but mixtapes do boost their buzz, or keep their names fresh, remember when cats werent putting out mixtapes, and sometimes you forget about them between albums... but mixtapes wont hurt the south, the south is everywhere right now, Raido, T.V. and on everybody album... a lot of cats want to see the south fall, b/c they cant understand the way southern niggaz hustle... "don't analyze the lyrics..analyze the hustle"...

COSIGN 100%

@eb

Yeah see TI situation was funny when he first came out. He did shit backwards. Im Serious came out first, and even some of us in the A was like who the fuc is this cat?? After Im Serious dropped his buzz started to pick up, but then he dropped that PSC in the streets vol. 1 and he blew the fuc up. That "Dope Boi Fresh" song had shit on fire that summer. After that everybody knew who TI was. And that was just in the A, it took a couple more years for him to get some national shine.

I agree that this mixtape thing is stupid, obviously the corporations know what is going on, and supply some of the songs, so unless they are going to take down everyone they shouldn't bug the little man.
What I think is even stupider, is the constant use of nigger, and making everything a conspirsy to keep rap down! buy the white man, half probably more than half of you aren't as stupid as you try to depict, you just think that talking stupid makes you look "real" get and education, and come to your senses this happens to every body small business black and white, give the white man a break, give your head a shake and speak properly!

SHALOM TO ALL...good lookin Big Sun. Respect back atcha.

This whole mixtape drama, I believe we are complicating the issue. It really boils down to this when we get to the simplest terms.

If an artist signs a contract which states that they will not record for anyone else without clearing it through their parent label, then the RIAA is only enforcing the measures that the artists have already signed up for.

Just like someone had commented about the reasoning for DJ Clue and Flex actually signing with a label and putting out their mixtapes in the manner they do. Because it's according to the contracts and rules in place...and there is nothing being done wrong.

So I believe it's as simple as artists not complying with their contracts and the mixtape DJs not honoring the contracts the artists are under. And now that artists aren't selling like they used to, the RIAA is going to do whatever they have to do to mash out anything that they feel is no longer contributing to their record sales. Same thing with downloads. At one point, the labels probably felt that even though it was not right, it was contributing towards their sales. But now that sales are down, they believe it is an issue.

So basically, it's big business acting responsibly according to basic business practice fundamentals. And artists and DJs now being held accountable for not following the rules that they agreed to when they signed their contracts.

It's unfortunate that hip hop has turned to this, but when there is so much money involved...that's how it goes. It ain't got nothing to do with "black or white", it's got to do with business operating as a business has to operate in order to try and stay up.

Let's not complicate it, it's really very simple. Anybody that tries to make it anything other than what it really is, is being irresponsible. We can go in circles about the current state of hip hop, but now it's big business and it will operate as one. Contracts are binding legal documents, period.

Hey but some of us that dont live in NY or other big cities could only get mixtapes online. I dont think people realize how much marketing that was for artists. People could get mixtapes round the world.

Now its back to looking for them in the corner hood store when you happen to visit a big city, and to be honest most of the really good stuff is only in NY. I guess it is what it is.

On the other hand, I think this whole thing is just making hiphop cooler, and these &^#$% just dont realize it. Everybody in the 'burbs got a taste of hiphop and now you trying to criminalize it? Its only going to make Tom and Jane want it more. I think it will work out good.

I wouldn't know about a lot of dudes if it weren't for mixtapes. Back when 50 and 'nem were on every mixtape out, I went to see them in concert at club Evolution in philly, based off the material that was on mixtapes. This was 2002.

And the reason I remember that day so vividly is because Peedi Crakk was actually headlining the show, but 50/G-Unit's mixtape buzz was so strong, that when 50 got done performing the whole crowd left. They didn't even care about seeing Peedi...in a philly club.

Around that time I don't think Peedi and State Prop were hitting the mixtapes hard. I think he only had that one song, "1 for peedi". Or maybe Im wrong, Im not sure.

But basically the point I trying to make is that mixtapes are vital.

Somebody know the history on the boy MIMS? why haven't we heard of him before, but he has the hottest song out of NY right now.

Swizz is currently working on the new albums of Britney Spears, Kelly Rowland, Jennifer Lopez, Cassidy, Usher, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Lil' Kim, Marc Anthony, Eve, Jadakiss, Trina, Eminem, Mya, Ashanti, Mashonda, Yung Wun, Whitney Houston, UGK, Chamillionaire, Ja Rule,Busta Rhymes Solange Knowles, and T.I.. He produced the street single for the new Tupac Shakur album, Pac's Life.

The only people on that list I give a fuck about are Kiss, Em, & Cham. Swizz production is even soft!!He don't rep NYC.

Huey...it doesn't surprise me that this movie has not gotten more promotion than it has. I only heard about it one time several months before it was released and forgot all about it. As a matter of fact when you asked the question, that movie did not even come to my mind...I figured it was something blasphemous.

So I googled it and seen it came out in October. I'm for sure gonna rent it now that I see it's been out so long, hopefully somebody carries it.

Man honestly, in my wordly mind...I would love to think Jesus is black. And let me tell you why. First off, there is not a racist bone in my body, as you may know my wife is black and I've got mixed children.

All men are going to bow before Christ to acknowledge Him as King of King and Lord of Lords. It would be a big wake up call (yet too late) when the folks that claimed to be Christian but lived with racist views (which really shows where their heart really is) went before the Lord and he was a powerful black man. Then they realized that they did not "love thy neighbor" as commanded, and their wicked heart..caught up on race got them sent to hell by a black God.

And on the other hand, all of the "black man IS god" believers...at the throne of Christ would have to confess to the ONE and ONLY black God, Jesus Christ...that Christ is King. They would also have to answer the question of why they would choose to take their roles as "gods" yet are now begging before the only entrance to heaven, yet they fell short because they stayed focused on their self pride and division rather than acceptance of all of God's children.

Think of this, heaven is gonna be a blinged out place...decorated finely. It even says the streets are gold. Is there not yellow gold? Is there not white gold? Is there not red gold? That brings God glory and he takes pleasure in His home being nicely decorated. How ignorant are we to believe that the many different beautiful races are not pleasing to God in His eyes. I mean, HIS glory IS OUR purpose, and my God is not one dimensional.

My point is, I hope this movie serves as a wake up call to those so focused on race that they have taken their eye off of God. And maybe it will open some people who have been hurt by racism and have closed their hearts to God because the "white Jesus" has been pushed, maybe it will give them hope and an expectation of something on a level that will open and soften their hearts up so that they can receive the truth of Jesus Christ. Then once they begin to learn more about what Christ is really about, they will learn that it had NOTHING to do with race at all, but EVERYTHING to do with acceptance, inclusion and most importantly...LOVE.

Read below and understand that the truth is for everyone, and it states clearly that it's all inclusive of all races and all walks of life. It also explains why so many people don't receive the general truth of Christ.

It ALSO speaks on exactly how and why God is taking back hip hop! YES SIR! Be blessed!

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."[c]
20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."

that would be some crazy stuff to see.

PZ,
second question;
What do U think of David Stern banning NBA slaves from the strip clubs?

Posted by: Huey Freeman at January 24, 2007 10:08 AM
------------------------
First off...come on now, drop the "slave" thing.

Second, anytime a person's job attempts to limit their activities away from the job, when those activities do not negatively impact or have any bearing to their performance on the job..I don't agree with it.

Then there is the whole "if your actions away from the job reflect negatively on your organization, then it is an issue on the job" which I believe is what they are doing here.

Just so you know, I'm an HR Specialist...that's what pays the bills. So I can see this from both angles. I'm certain if the players union feels that they have a leg to stand on based on agreements already in place with the NBA players contract...then the ban is not going to fly.

So with that said, if the NBA players sign a contract that states they will not partake in activities that will reflect negatively on the NBA, then the NBA will throw up all of the negativity of strip clubs and have a better chance of pulling it off.

Again, the whole "slave thing" is pushin it a bit far. The same thing applies with any major organization with highly visible personnel. I know it applies when you work for the government. And also, any organization ran by any man is going to feel in some sort or fashion the "boss's" own personal beliefs in the rules he tries to put in place and enforce. It speaks on that person's own beliefs and morals.

Dog, it could be just that real too.

As a believer yourself...you know the possibility that it could go down just like that. I'm thankful for my clean heart as far as the race issue goes, cuz that experience is not one that I have to have any issues or feelings as far as "what if he's right".

I've said it a million times and I'll say it again. I don't care if God is pink with purple polka dots, I'm still gonna be lovin Him. That "color" issue ain't gettin in my way of receiving my blessings!

SHALOM to all my strong black brothas!

You sit there and you thump your bible, and you say your prayes, and it didn't get you anywhere! You talk about your Psalms, talk about John 3:16, well Autin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass! And that's the bottom line because Stone Cold said so!

I think the only positive thing that will come out of mixtapes not being sold any more is that alot of the street artists that have gotten used to filling their albums with that pop shit will now have to make room for some hot street shit...

also I forgot who said it but I agree with the dude that said mixtapes are a good marketing tool for new and established artists...

@PZ
What you think of Sean Price new album being named JESUS PRICE SUPERSTAR? Does that offend you?

Posted by: Eddy G. at January 24, 2007 10:23 AM
---------------------------------
Regarding how I feel about it, that's irrelevant. And I mean by that is that it is not my place to judge that dude's actions, when I am not aware of his motives and how they line up with the Word. That's between Him and God. See, I don't kno anything about the dude or what His album promotes. If it uses that name as shock value, then spreads poison contradictory to what the Lord would promote..then it's blasphemous and the Lords name is being used in vain and he'll answer for it. That's one of the 10 commandments right there.

There are alot of Christian artists who include the name Jesus in their album, but then they promote Jesus and His message.

So I'm not in a position to judge what that dude is doing, why He did it or what He is promoting or tryin to gain by attaching our Lord and savior Jesus's name to his record. But God does, and His justice is just.

Hopefully these new events will take mixtapes back to where they used to be,
UNDERGROUND!

Mixtapes used to be more for the new up and coming artists. These days signed established artist are dropping more mixtapes than albums. If Lil Wayne or whoever drops three mixtapes this year and then turns around and drop an album. Thats not good business sense because you've lowered demand for more material before you dropped your album.

Lets get this straight, artists make no money from mixtapes and neither does the label. Recently cats are bumpin more mixtapes than buying albums. If you're a label thats not a good thing. MIXTAPES USED TO BE GOOD FOR PROMOTION BUT NOW THERE REPLACING ALBUMS. Mixtapes DJ's need to focus more on unsigned up and coming artists, that way they don't have to worry about the record labels havin the feds kick in there door.

LISTEN... I am a big Swizz guy... but for his producing. I can do WITHOUT the albums. Dude has no lyrical ability... so basically, I am listening to HIS album for (1) beats (2) who murdered the beat (3) features.

Is his single REALLY gettin' spins? cuz that "street single" was sanitation. You heard those bars???

Dog, if I was still listenin to wordly hip hop, I would personally go cop it just off the strength of your input.

You always on here with real input on hip hop, one of the only real one's on here.

they had 2 be white, not turning it in2 a racial thing, but Black parents ain't havin' that shit, that kid woulda gotten her ass beat, Black parents ain't wasting damn near $600 just 2 get kicked off a plane cuz their kid would'nt shut up, we believe in giving kids something 2 cry about.

I'm sorry but that's how I was brought up.

I heard that! I'm with you on that one. I am amazed, at how many folks are amazed at how well my kids are behaved in public.

Proverbs 22:15
Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him.

Proverbs 23:13
Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die.

Proverbs 29:15
The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.

But did you click the link Huey? It's a joke...you can't read the message without clicking the link.

That's b/c those parents ain't got the balls 2 whoop that kid's ass and make her calm down so they can go home, I read that story yesterday, and came 2 the conclusion that they had 2 be white, not turning it in2 a racial thing, but Black parents ain't havin' that shit, that kid woulda gotten her ass beat, Black parents ain't wasting damn near $600 just 2 get kicked off a plane cuz their kid would'nt shut up, we believe in giving kids something 2 cry about.

Read this snip from the Sean P interview.

TSS: What do you feel about people who do use street credit as kind of a resume point? Because, you know, recently Jeezy – and obviously I’m not trying to drag you into this, I’m just using it as an example but – Jeezy said that Nas “don’t buss his gun” and “what Nas know about street cred” when talking about the whole Hip Hop is Dead argument…

Sean P: Nas from Queensbrige. Nas is from Queensbridge. Do you know Queensbridge is the biggest projects in New York City?

TSS: Yea.

Sean P: Did you know that?

TSS: Yea.

Sean P: You know, Queensbridge, when you say you gon move to the projects, if you have nowhere else to go, they send you to Queensbridge. It’s fuckin’ wild out there, yo.

TSS: Yea.

Sean P: Trust me, he’s seen some shit. Maybe he ain’t actually been in it, but [he’s] seen some shit though. Even if he did or didn’t, [does] that make him less of a rapper? I think that’s the problem with some of these rappers now, that they worry about their street cred and they should be worrying about their fuckin’ skills. Just ‘cause you shot somebody, or you was in jail and did this that and the third, that don’t automatically make you a dope rapper. That make you a fuckin’ criminal. That’s what the fuck it makes you

I see it like this David Stern tryin to keep the Young, Rich and Dumb outta trouble. Only thing he doing is protecting his investments and it's not like they can't go in the off season to see them a skripper or better yet they got enough money to have their own skripper fest. So don't feel sorry, i wasn't sorry for them when they had to dress up, shyte in high school my princpal made us Dress For Success and we were a public high school. Also I have a job and they tell me what and what not to wear and I don't make nothing compared to them players so tell them to grow up and stop whining or they can go back to the hood and frequent all the skripper bars they want.

soon stern is going to ban braids and dreds from the nba.

just my point of view

We all got points of views homey, and that's yours.

Regarding the "God speaks" issue, you wouldn't understand it if I explained to you, because you don't believe Jesus is who Jesus came claiming to be. You don't understand His complete role in the trinity, and you don't believe in the holy spirit.

Regarding the "high and mighty" b/s..I dont' know what you talkin 'bout. I just speak the truth as I know it. Read it and receive it, or skip over it homey. I'm not forcing anything on anybody....but if it's touchin a nerve in ya, ask yourself why?

Where I'm from, people don't stick their nose in business unless that business is affecting them in some kind of way. Is what I'm doing on here affecting you in any kind of way? If not...then what prompts you to speak out on what I'm speakin on? Ask yourself..is that normally your nature of other things in life, do you always do that? And if not..then wonder what prompts you to do so when it boils down to something that speaks on saving your soul from hell? The maybe consider something is prompting you to speak against it that does not normally prompt you.

I understand that battle in everything that goes on. I won't go back and forth debating the truth, it stands by itself.

But if you can't answer the beginning of time, and if you don't know what you believe...then you can't knock somebody for believing in something.

Christ Bless!

IM NOT TALKIN ABOUT THE DRESS CODE...BUT DAMN...WEN THEY'RE NOT ON THE COURT, WHAT THEY DO IS NOT DAVID STERN'S BUSINESS! SO WHAT IF THEY END UP ON THE NEWS THATS THEIR IMAGE!

=TAH=

i feel what your saying B- Stuy Long but its deeper then that.it has nothing to do with him protecting anyone.its nothing short of racism.

Yall gotta leave all this racism shtye alone, it's deeper than that. the NBA ain't making money like they use to due to all these young so-called thug playas they got. Corporate America ain't trying to finance all that. Don't Let Them Fool Ya!

so B- Stuy Long your telling me that the players sporting throwback during there interviews, sporting there ice and hats back is the reason the nba is losing money?

BOUT TO HAV A FIRE DRILL THEN LUNCH THEN THE REST OF THE DAY...IM OUT! MUCH LOVE 2 THE USUALS AND THE REAL 1S!

=TAH=

I'm not sayin it's the only reason but it has a lot to do with it. You tell me what old white or black man wants to sit back watching a bunch of young black men looking like thugs even if their not talking all this yo! and I ain't's! See after Jordan, there was no real Ol' School cats reppin the way they was suppose to. See you can even look at your hood the OG's was always dressed up and well mannered, but these days you got a bunch of fools running around with Air 1's, timbs and jeans sagging faking they thuggin. It's called
Image!

PZ

I don't remeber where i put in there that I didn't know what I believed or said what you believe isn't true, but you have proven my point, quite clearly with this comment
"then wonder what prompts you to do so when it boils down to something that speaks on saving your soul from hell?"
Your whole theory is based on the fact that man in inhearntly flawed in some way shape of forum in needs to be saved, that is garbage to me, if you want to spend your whole life trying to fix something about yourself that may or may not be wrong go for it, but I don't nor can anything you say make me believe that there is something I need to fix in order to be "good enough".
Your reply is classic, you recite all your bible verses, you don't have a thought that is your own, you are the message, and your are just reading out of a book, "homey" what the hell is that? I am not 12 and you aren't either. So you say you won't battle b/c the truth stands for itself? classic, did you run out of scripters to read to me? I didn't say anything negative about your beliefs but you are always on here preaching and it is annoying I believe what I believe and don't force it on anyone, I don't see people saying "hey PZ please read from the bible it has everything to do with swiss new album" hahahhahahahh
when you have something to say that is your own thought, not just bible verses, then respond, but you can't even say it is your opinion because it really is just what has been shoved into your head till you believe its yours.

SIX DAYS AND COUNTING KEEP SHOWIN LOVE
SEAN P BCC AND DUCKDOWN RECORDS 4-LIFE

Famous for his work with Boot Camp Clik and Heltah Skeltah, Sean Price has also managed to create a large fan base on the strength of his solo work as well. Price's first two solo albums generated moderate sales, but his lack of concern for trends and sales is what really makes him popular with his fans. That's not to say that his music isn't some of the darkest and most lyrically unadulterated hip-hop in the game though. The authenticity of Sean Price is really what is going to propel "Jesus Price Supastar" to one of the better hip-hop albums of the year.

the only thing fans should care about is there team dressed in there shorts running up and down the court scoring baskets.if they wanna rock timbs to the interview or when they get off the bus thats there fashion choice.what other major sport has a dress code?the nfl?hell no.and we all know the nfl has some of the craziest thugs in sports.

Your right but the fans don't pay for advertisements, and that's what keeps the lights on!

i feel you but lets be real the whole dress code has nothing to do with money and everything to do with white people being scared of a young black man with his hat to the back and pants sagging.thats all it is.stern dropped the ball a long time ago.changing the rock and taking away the dunk contest.stern is lost and he is the reason fans are losing interest.

I got these niggas on my nutt sacks...

Actually there really wasn't no real true superstar after Jordan's second retirement so that's when people started losing interest in the NBA. There was talent in there but no real stand out dude to keep his nose clean, put up numbers every night no matter what and bring a ring to the franchise.

yeah jordan did not have anyone to pass the torch to.it could have been kobe or shaq even ai.

that man in inhearntly flawed in some way shape of forum in needs to be saved, that is garbage to me.

---------------------
If I proved your point, you proved mine even more so. That statement right there sums up what I was saying, you don't believe the basic principles on which Christianity is founded. You don't believe that we are born sinners and needed a savior which is Jesus Christ. And we needed Him because no matter how hard we tried we weren't good enough...homey. So you don't believe in Jesus, therefore you don't know God, and it would be impossible for you to begin to comprehend the Holy Spirit. Not cuz I said so, but because the Word said so. I'd quote scripture backing it up..but that is not going to impact this post any more because you do not receive.

You tell me don't bring scripture to a discussion with you, when the very thing we are discussing is the scripture and truth. It's impossible, that truth IS the weapon. Trust this, that truth has changed up my opinions...I'm not the same dude I was, and that's a good thing.

So you're contradicting yourself when you say that you never said "you don't believe", but your original post to me was evident. That's why I responded like I do.

And like I said before ethan, if you have a problem with the whole idea that what you believe has issues with my coment;

"then wonder what prompts you to do so when it boils down to something that speaks on saving your soul from hell?"

then that's not on me. And it's in love. If I believe that to be true, and the basis of everything I believe is "love", then what love am I showing by not bringing that very important truth to your attention.

Just hear me out. I believe satan has two purposes. The first is to prevent you from receiving Jesus as your Lord and savior, and that is because if you do not accept...then he's got you. The second is that he wants to render born again believers useless, so that they can't stop others from coming to that saving knowledge.

So my point was this. If you feel the need to buck on something that could stop you from receiving the message, and that same feeling that has you bucking is not a trait you usually exhibit...then you need to ask yourself "why do I feel the need to interject here". That's what I was saying. I believe it is a spiritual battle, and if you give that idea a chance...then it will make sense why you interject here based on what I just shared.

And let me tell you something else, this ain't nothing nobody shoved in my head. I'm 28 years old, 24 of those years lived as one of the wildest dudes you'd ever run into. I don't have to explain, I'm not into all that. But then I finally accepted the truth that I had heard others speaking on and living out (yes, even when I was bucking against it as well) and willingly and wantingly seeked it out and EXPERIENCED GOD. The seeds that those previous people had planted was watered and grew and sprouted in God's time. Religion didn't have anything to do with helping me out, naw, it was seriously seekin answers to them hard questions...checking out the evidences my self, giving my heart to it and allowing it to happen...and here I am.

Not everyone is gonna receive it, we know that. But that don't mean we gonna stop. So, with that say...ain't no love lost. All you gotta do is skip my posts, if you been on this site for anytime at all, you oughta know that you ain' gonna back me down. If anything, I just respond accordingly as I feel led.

And just another thing, if you check history books...do your own research you will see that the bible is one of the most corroborated history books in existence. Not many scholars will buck the events of the bible, or Jesus's existence (and even "disappearance" from the tomb..us Christians know he was RESURRECTED), the only part the smart folks will have issue with is the "God involvement" in these events.

That's where FAITH comes in, and without that...it's all useless.

Christ Bless!
PZ

You know I knew AI would never been the one to do that, too much thug in him, Kobe was to selfish with the rock and Shaq well he is good but I don't see him as a marquee player, just due to the fact that he is so big and easily could get hurt.

i think ai is the main reason for the dress code.he really introduced the thugged out image to the nba.i think jordans knees are still wobblin after that killer cross over ai hit him with.

Sean price is a hell of a performer. i went to see him open up for ghostface without really knowing any of his music. i was very impressed, he's a good rapper, and had a really energetic show. ghostface on the other hand didn't even show up...

WHY ARE YOU STILL TALKING ABOUT THE MIXTAPES AND SOUNDING SO IGNORANT ABOUT IT? Look Lil Wayne even came out and said what everyone is saying. RAPPERS DON'T LIKE DJ'S STEALING THEIR MUSIC AND PUTTING IT ON MIXTAPES, PERIOD.

The RIAA works for the artist, producers and music labels. NOT THE GOVERNMENT. It's a UNION, not a government agency. So cut the bullshit.

The fact is mixtape dj's STEAL the music and put it on a mixtape. They sell it for $5 which the rapper sees none of and the dj isn't even paying taxes on it. So a dj just has to sell 20,000 copies and he made $100,000 off of one cd when most rappers will take over a year to see $100,000. The DJ's are making millions off of raping the artist.

No this shit is not promotional use. So stop saying that. When do you see mixtapes just be made up of nobodies you never heard of? It's made up of established artists. They don't need promotion.

If an artist wants to be on a mixtape they release their own such as G-Unit, Dipset, Tru Life, Chamillionaire, etc etc. THEY RELEASE THEIR OWN MIXTAPES AND KEEP THE MONEY.

Some of you just don't get it. They are not banning mixtapes they are banning STEALING songs to put on your mixtape. Put it this way. You invented a new product right. Would you let someone else sell 10 million of these new products and you don't get a penny from it and then call it free promotion? No.

One last point and then I am done, if god made us all in his image, and he loves us so, why, why, why are we all born as sinners and why is he so insecure that we have to bow down to him every second of the day?
where do you get your facts that the bible is so reveried and accepted as truth from? other Christians?

"If an artist wants to be on a mixtape they release their own such as G-Unit, Dipset, Tru Life, Chamillionaire, etc etc. THEY RELEASE THEIR OWN MIXTAPES AND KEEP THE MONEY."
real talk every artist you listed samples other artist music and songs on there mix tapes.mixtapes will always be a staple of the hip hop community.the riaa does not give a damn about the artist getting money, there just worried about there cut.

Adam & Eve described the race of caucasian people who were exiled to the Caucus Mountain
if Adam & Eve were truly the first man & woman on earth, that would mean that every human being on this planet are brother and sister, therefore we would be committing incest with one another

Jason B

Explain dianasours to me? why no mention of them in the bible?

Fight my own battles? LOL.....First it's funny how I had your back when PZ and a couple of dudes was comming at you on here about your beliefs (hypocrite) now you wanna be mad at me because I'm a believe in the bible? You ain't right for that homie. I brought up PZ because he advertises on here and he would be more suitable for this argument. I don't shun people for there beliefs. Your no better then PZ. You see what happens when people try to get personal on here, I should of just stuck to my e-stabs at people because at the end of the day everyone on here is nothing but a screen name to me.

This is to the dude that does not think mixtapes is for promotion...

people who are truly into hip hop by mixtapes to hear new and exclusive shit...u mention artists like g unit and dipset...these dudes all drop mixtapes right before their album to get the fans mouths wet with anticipation for the new album...if u like the mix tape..more than likely u will buy the album because u get fooled into thinking that the album will be just as good if not better...

I think u have mix tapes fooled with bootleg albums...

alot of exclusive songs that are on mix tapes are given to the dj..whether it's from the artist or the label...because they know the streets will be listening and they hope to increase their fan base...

think about when u market an artist...sometimes they do promotional shows just so people can hear new material....mixtapes for established artists are like that...they give away material to gain fans..

with new artists..they put out mixtapes to gain a following so that major labels will pay attention to them...

50, mapster P, and a whole lot more people are all where they are today because of the mixtape guy...

therefore we would be committing incest with one another

So what do you believe? We all just sprouted??? No common ancestery? Come now...I'm curious to hear.

Regarding Dinosaurs, I'll say this. Some believe they are mentioned in the bible...I've never spent my time digging for it.

Here is something too many people think about that bible. That it contains every bit of information about everything that ever happened, and that is just not so. It is the Word of God...what He was tryin to tell us.

If you bought a car, but you didn't tell nobody...does that mean the car never existed? NO! It just means that there was no reason for me to explain to you that "I have a car".

And check this out too...if everything was so laid out and visible to the naked eye, then what is the point in "faith"? You have to understand what "faith" is. Without it, you can't walk this walk.

Someone that is so arrogant that believes nothing exists unless it can be explained or has tangible proof is ignorant, and needs to reread this verse. It sums it up quite clearly to us believers, and the first verse sums up you guys looking for "evidence" or current miracles. God ain't got nothing to prove to you, like he's gotta bargain with you:

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."[c]

Just think, if someone didn't break down the complexity of "electricity", then you wouldn't believe it exists even if it shocked your ass. Why? Because you can't see it????

The human race is constantly learning. So what does that mean? Doesn't that mean we are constantly ignorant until we "discover" something new??? And oh yeah...what has humans "made from nothing". From absolutetly NOTHING. The answer is NOTHING! So how can total existence exist based on NOTHING, no creator, no nothing..it just happened? Now didn't get at me about the "who created God"...cuz I'm speaking physical existence. The spirit world is not bound by physical limitations or time...so we do not know. But that don't mean it's not.

And don't tell me that you don't have "faith". If you can't name the beginning, and prove it...then you have "faith" in something that you "assume" based on whatever evidences you have. Without laying hands on it, and seeing it...that's faith. Our faith is in a loving God, yours is in...well...do you even know?

Get at me...but do it quick, I leave in 30 minutes. I hope I have addressed everyone's issues in this post, if not...holla at me!

Christ Bless!

Jesus Price Supastar

Artist: Sean Price
Title: Jesus Price Supastar
Rating:*****
Reviewed by: Jake Paine

For a solo debut album on a shoestring budget and with a name-change, Sean Price's Monkey Barz was the Cinderella story of 2005. Critics championed the effort as Price became the sleeper hit of Duck Down's "triple-threat" that included Smif-N-Wessun and Buckshot. A year and a half later, Price's Jesus Price Supastar (Duck Down) finds the "brokest rapper you know" after he cashed his checks, and as he says on "Hearing Aid," lost it in a dice game. With a sharpened wit and even defter rhymes, Sean Price raises the ante, as one of premier artists in independent Hip-Hop today.

Whereas Monkey Barz accepted straightforward simplicity in its lyrics, Jesus Price is an exhibition of lyrical gymnastics. Assisted by veterans Sadat X and Buckshot, "Da God" uses the many meanings of the term, in seamless rhymes that chronicle routine activities in Sean’s life. His wordplay shines, as heard on "Like You" with "Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothin' to f**k wit'/ Boot Camp Clik ain't nothin' to Wu-Tang/ N***as seem shocked by the way that I do thangs / Did a song with Destiny's Child, and I still ride the 2 Train." In an age of keeping it real, Sean Price does so, cracking a joke and smile.

Following the praises of North Carolina production, Jesus Price furthers the collaborations between 9th Wonder and Khrysis, plus gems from Moss and P.F. Cuttin. 9th's show-stealer comes late in the album with the aformentioned "Hearing Aid," a spirited piano chord and drum creation that sounds nothing like what fans of Little Brother are used to. Veteran Tommy Tee provides a futuristic organ and drum composition for one of the album's two Heltah Skeltah (Sean and Ruck) collaborations on "Church."

Production played a major role in the interest and appreciation for Monkey Barz. Using much of the same team, it’s the lyrics that make Jesus Price Supastar a charged album for 2007. Few artists who write about their lives so vividly cannot rhyme with the creativity that this Brownsville, Brooklyn MC seemed to find a decade into his career-the passion of Price.

Alright yall I'm bout to hop the train back home, peace to the GOds and the Earths, and the 85%.

Whenever U're in Memphis holla so we can make it happen.

I'm bored. Anybody want to e-beef?

Any takers?

Sohh sux. It used to be sohh much fun.

Hip-hop without the mixtape...the start of the ending. It's just another way for the powers that be to control the market. If emcees started to speak out against the mixtapes and backed it up with a good argument...I'd still disagree. Mixtapes have built plenty of careers and the artists owe(no pun) it to them for creating their buzz. How else are they going to be heard in the East, West, or South..radio, MTV, or BET(lol)? It's getting to the point where you don't even know that an emcee dropped a cd nowadays(ask Mos Def). Hip-hop without mixtapes is its demise. Hip-hop has officially gone "corporate"(ask Jay-Z) calling the FEDS!?!? I thought you were from an era where niggas don't snitch? Longlive the mixtape and "street" cd's that leak b4 the release date. I guess Nas is prophetic. In the "Hip-hop is Dead" video he had a shot of an "underground" cd manufacturer getting raided. Art imitating life. By the way Swizz dropping a cd is good only if he doesn't rap.

By the way Swizz dropping a cd is good only if he doesn't rap.

Posted by: Dank at January 24, 2007 4:42 P.M.

Nah Swizz will have some serious club bangers, cause that "It's Me Bi^%*%" is a pure club anthem, too bad he didn't come out with that in the summer. One more thing I hope he don't recycle too many of his beats on this one, but it is Swizz so will see.

***All Revolutionary, Conscious, Positive unsigned/indie Artists, sell your mixtapes at RebelMixtapes.com under a nonexclusive Licensing Agreement!! For info e-mail support@rebelmixtapes.com All material must be original!!!

I know Im gonna get exciled for sayin this, but MIXTAPES is what is killing HIP HOP. For REAL.

Trust me, I ma not hating on the DJ's(most) or the artists. But takelook at the mixtape hustle, Paposse put out 4 mixtapes in 06, thats like 4 albums the labels aint sellin. 4 albums worth of GOOD(so caleed) music. Now Pap signs to a label and his best creative thoughts have already been put out on mixtapes, so now his first official album is sub-par, because for last year all his creativity has gone to mixtapes. His album under sells, and shelf his next project.
now all this made up, but could still be true. My point, as stated before...we are going way overboard on shit...too many mixtapes, too much crack inspired music, too much bitchin for no reason, etc....

Dont get me wrong I used to spin, I love the DJ's and yeah they are the most forgotten of HIP HOP artists, but when DJ double knee jerk puts out 4 papoose mixtapes, why should I bother to get his album when I already have a substantial amount of his music to listen to? and again for the Stans reading this, this is not a bash at Pap. I just use him because right now I think he is the most active in the mixtape hustle, and it is a hustle.

so although it does work for getting new artists heard, or helping artists break new markets, it can also be abused which is what is happening. They about to break the mixtape hustle just like the crack hustle.

w/o mixtape its screwed if you do screwed if you dont effect. mixtape have broken so many artists that you would have never have heard of w/o mixtapes (fine example is Papoose). The burbs dont be coppin mixtape like the streets, so their vision of hip-hop is limited. But I dont think Mixtape would affect LP sales, LP were low because of quality and rushed

the RIAA can never take the steets away. no one is going to stop making mixtapes just because the RIAA is being a bunch of bitches.

people will still hustle their 4 track recordings out of their trunks if they really want to get noticed. they can't take that culture from us.

mixtapes will never leave. the RIAA is just pissed someone else is making money on music besides them.

Posted by: Lion XL at January 24, 2007 5:24 PM

That's real. But to me, If an artists who is unsigned is on "4" underground mixtapes/cds by the same "DJ" he/she is profiting somewhere along the money train. So don't get it twisted. Like you stated it is a hustle. A hustle in which(like crack, no co-sign to yayo(not talking about g-unit)) which pays the bills. And unlike crack it isn't destroying the urban community(atleast for the most part, wack ass emcees do fire bullets into the body of hip-hop).

And if you are a "real" emcee, not some bitch ass wannabe "real street cat" you would understand that. Underground artists need to handle their biz better.

So let me ask all the real ppl a ?. What would you think of 2Pac if you never heard the undergroung Makaveli mix"tapes" b4 they fucked up his original beat and flow. Or the original/underground Nas, I Am..cd b4 it got rearranged, Lupes original Food and Liquor or Jay'z original Vol.3? Maybe they would have came out the same, maybe not. But like you stated, the fact remains that you have "4" cds of classic material and not one cd of sub-par/commercial selections. Case closed meeting adjourned.

"NOW IT'S WHATEVER, HIP-HOPS 4EVER"Nas

If you never made "your" own original hip-hopmix "tape" from the radio b4 it went mainstream. Don't bother commenting on my statements. You're just to young to understand.

I wanna make one thing completely clear, whoever the fuck this PZ character is, just shut your noise mate cos your booooooooooorin. If you got off that little fuckin soap box of yours for a minute you'd realise that even 'non-believers' are loved by God, He loves everyone, no discrimination so shut the fuck up and let everyone believe what they wanna without shovin it down their throats (no homo)........religious zealot muthafuckas make me sick.........

What up FIGGZ?

Would Hip Hop be in a better place without mixtapes........Hell Yeah. I mean there is no real way of tracking every mixtape an artist brings out and I feel more talent needs to be put on albums because me personally I hear classic shit on mixtapes then albums come out and I'm like "whats this shit?" Ex. Lloyd Banks, Lil Wayne, Chamillionaire, Young Jeezy, Busta Rhymes, etc.

I THINK THE HIP HOP WORLD SHOULD ALSO BE CALLING THE 50 CENT MASSACRE ALBUM A STRAIGHT HIP HOP CLASSIC THAT ALBUM WAS A MASTERPIECE IF YOU COMPARE IT TO ALL THE OTHER ALBUMS THAT CAME OUT SINCE 2000 I BELIVE YOU COULD ONLY COMPARE ALBUMS TO OTHER ALBUMS THAT CAME OUT IN THE SAME DECADE AND IF YOU LOOK AT IT IT HAS TO BE TOP 5 FOR SURE SINCE 2000. I THINK THE MAIN DIFFERENCE THIS DECADE FROM THE 90'S ESPICALLY THE EARLY 90'S IS WHEN A CLASSIC HIP HOP ALBUM COMES OUT IT WONT GO UNDER THE RADER LIKE ILLMATIC OR BUILT 4 CUBAN LINX NOW WHEN A CLASSIC HIP HOP ALBUM COMES OUT PPL KNOW ABOUT IT AND WILL RUSH THE STORES IN DROVES TO BUY THE ALBUM IF ITS NOT HOT WORD WILL GET OUT AND ALBUM SALES WILL DYE OFF AFTER THE FIRST WEEK LIKE NAS HIP HOP IS DEAD AND LIKE DOCTORS ADVOCTE IF THOSE ALBUMS WERE CLASSICS THEIR SALES WOULD NOT HAVE DIED OFF LIKE THAT AFTER THE FIRST WEEK EVERYBODY HAS TO LIKE YOUR ALBUM FOR IT TO BE A CLASSIC JUST MY OPINON SOHH PPL WHAT DO YOU THINK?????????
