Shaolin Stand Up: The Wu-Tang is Back

"I just got off the phone with Divine and RZA from Wu-Tang, we are coming back, we are joining forces for one album, coming up in 2007," said [Steve] Rifkind via a video on his blog, thelabel.blog.com. "I don't know what the name of the album is but we are back, its official. Wu-Tang and Steve Rifkind are back together."

You can sense a hint of zealousness in this quote; most CEOs wait until they have a little more information before they make an official public announcement. But nevertheless, the excitement is understood; most have been anticipating a Wu-Tang reunion for quite some time now, and being that Rifkind was in many ways responsible for the 1993 breakthrough-- a breakthrough that molded and shaped many an MC-- it is understandable that he has no patience with putting the news into heavy rotation.

In a time where most hip-hop heads are looking for that boom-bap to make a comeback and many of these sucker MCs are running around with a piss knot in their panties with a casket ceasing every hour of their late-night dreams, this news could not be more appropriate. And just as someone asked if copies of Nas' Illmatic come with free dictionaries in the South, many who have heard news of this Wu-Tang comeback have been asking if the Wu can stick a fork in the rap game with another 36 Chambers (okay so that's a bit of an expectation so we'll say something sounding similar to it). The streets ask themselves, is it worth it? Will people care?

How about this formula: Take your time making the album, make a few killer street anthems, and properly PROMOTE it.

wu-tang and nas are too complex for most people especially the south and i am from north carolina. you low iq motherfuckers open your brain and learn something, instead of talking about rims, cars, jewelry, drugs, and the trap, and all this fucking partying, thats cool sometimes, but life isn't always a party, and the people listening can't always relate to a person talking about riches, their are more poor people in the world than rich people, so shake your laffy taffy in your white tee, lol! get the fuck out of here with that bullshit crap music!
