This is becoming yet another one of my pet peeves of the rap game. I find it kind of sad that the only way newcomers and back-from-the dead-MCs can seem to make a name for themselves is by coming out with a dis track. The constant recurrence of this makes it appear as if it's the new phenomenon of hip-hop. But whatever happened to creating your own buzz with a relentless showcase of talent? Riding off propaganda is an old strategy, and has become so much of a cliché that it doesn't even work anymore. Maybe for internet outlets and fifteen minutes of fame on Concrete Loop, but not in the sales department.
The only way the Philly rapper Peedi Crack Peedi can seem to recreate a little bit of buzz for himself is to take shots at Juelz Santana, which is ridiculous and just corny (he claims it has nothing to do with Def Jam or Hov). His 2005 appearance on Ne-yo's first single, "Stay," barely did him any justice. But if he took some Sidekick pics of a shorty giving him dome from off the edge of the bed, he'd probably get somewhere.
Why not pick on a NY artist? Well, there's too many to name.
This rap shit is starting to make me sick. These silly fools need to either disappear, or think of a way to reinvent. Come up with something new for once. Or stop rapping period. So many of these so-called rappers spend so much time riding off the next man's name, I don't even know how they can consider their success their success.
