In case you didn't know, hip hop is not a form of music. Hip hop is a culture. Rap is a form of music and hip hop music is a form of music (rap music and hip hop music are the same thing) It may look or sound confusing but you have to understand what the creators of the culture mean when they say they are hip hop or anyone who makes that statement for that matter. If you live the culture, practice one of the elements ie rap, dj, break, graffiti, clothes, language, street business, you are hip hop as well.

I think that rap music is about to be a wrap. It's not the south's fault totally. It's everybody's fault, mainly radio, the labels, the consumers - all of us. We make everything about first week sales, not allowing anyone to grow. Biggie's first album took 6 months to go platinum. There's no artist development anymore.We're at the point where a cat over 30 is seen as over the hill - that's bullshit. Real talk - I hope hip hop music dies - crash and burns and goes back to the underground where it can be creative again.

If it wasn't for their contributions t Hip Hop would be here. Yes the point is to innovate but you don't forget where you came from. I bet you also don't know how Hip Hop and Reggae are connected do you? Scratching lead to finding the break beat which lead to sampling then came the drum machine which leads us to production today (If I am missing anything or got anything wrong anybody feel free to correct me). NY is the birthplace of hip hop, but if you wanna get technical, couldnt we say Mississippi is the original home of hip hop and all music period. All forms of music was started from these musicians down here in MS, for example, Blues, Rock, Soul, Gospel, Everything. Hip Hop, Rap originates from these Mississippi Roots. Considering most people got fam who originated from Mississippi. So to all you NY folks, who say Hip Hop originated in NY, think again. Cus MS folks been rhyming, making beats in their heads, and all that since the slavery time. Yall were just the first to make Rap mainstream. So really, NYC is what made Rap mainstream. Not placing blame on anybody, but how u gonna put a blame on a certain region for mainstream rap, when yall was the first to make rap mainstream and known to the World.

I feel most of you agree that without blacks in say... basketball for instance. Watching an nba game would be fairly boring!!! am i right??? i'm sure you all would say, yes. There is nothing racist about that, as it is simply fact. Physically blacks are better athletes... it's just how God made us all... no harm no foul.

However we'd all also agree a minimal number of whites are good at basketball and some better than blacks... your larry birds, stocktons of old, there are some.
