I didn't even think twice about duke until I heard his verse on The Game's "One Blood" remix. This joint is oversaturated with twenty-something artists -- including Jadakiss, Styles P, and Fat Joe -- and drones on and on until the best comes last. Just when you were ready to turn it off, Ja comes on, and you tilt closer to the speaker to get a better listen of what he's saying, because somehow you knew there was gonna be some kind of subliminal something tucked in between those bars. When I was listening to him spit, it wasn't necessarily what he was saying -- 'cause he really wasn't saying anything much -- but it was the mockery and taunting in his voice that caught my ear.
Now if he would apply this same swag and demeanor with a couple of street joints and get them hot in these streets, I'm pretty sure he could get his shit together.
Being that he brought on a series of hits, including "Between Me and You," "I Cry," "Put it on Me," and "Always on Time," I believe that he still has to have it in him.
However, it's been said that once an artist hits the height of their career, it's not a wrap... it's a doobie. There's no coming back from that. But for some reason, I think ignoring the past and pushing that arrogant swag in any future joints he might release will do him some good.
It's a long shot BUT... looking at the current situation of the opposing entourage, it's definitely possible. I say put the past behind you, ignore the criticism, and add a little fuel to that arrogance.
