I've tried to ignore it. The last thing I wanted to do was another G-Unit post. But I haven't seen bad reviews about an album from this many people in a while, so I figured the topic was relevant.
I was in the SOHH forum, and someone by the name of Street Novelist started a thread on the 5th that bagged over 4,600 views. A lot of what he was saying has pretty much summed up what I’ve been hearing from many others...

Rapper Fabolous Shot, Stable in NYC
Rapper Fabolous was shot early Tuesday as he stood at a Manhattan parking garage, spurring a sequence of events that left him both hospitalized in stable condition and under arrest, police said.
The rapper, whose legal name is John Jackson, was shot once in the thigh when a male with a gun approached him and three others and opened fire, police spokesman Sgt. Mike Wysokowski said.
The four jumped into a vehicle and fled, attracting the attention of police. Officers stopped them and discovered two guns in the vehicle, both of which were apparently unlicensed, Wysokowski said. All four men were arrested, and charges were pending.
The rapper was taken to a hospital. Police were searching for the shooter.
The Brooklyn native's hits have included, "Breathe" and "Can't Deny It," and his songs cover topics ranging from romance to street life and violence. He recently took part in the taping of the VH1 Hip Hop Honors, which were to air Tuesday evening.
An e-mail seeking comment from a representative at Def Jam Recordings was not immediately returned early Tuesday. The label is producing the rapper's upcoming solo album, due out in December, according to Fabolous' Web page on MySpace.com.

I won't lie, I wouldn't buy Banks' album unless it was actually hot. I checked it out and it just wasn't hot:just like his 1st one. No real lyrical substance. He can flow but he has nothing to offer lyrically. Lupe got substance but he's boring as hell. I was wondering why folks hated on Lupe so hard at first. I ain't hating on the kid but he really is boring to listen. I respect his skill but damn at the same time I wish I hadn't bought that Lupe. Even the Jay joint was a snoozer. I'm still mad that I spent that $14.99 for Lupe. It now serves as a coaster in my living room. Back to Banks: He bores me too. He got slick little lines here and there but overall he ain't that great to me. I'm not really a G-Unit fan but Banks got a little flow so I was hoping his album would be about somethin'. People have there own views on the album and mine is that it's a good one. There a lot of good songs on there. I would say at least 10 joints that are fire. The beats are top notch. Banks is way better then Young Dro. I couldn't disagree more with people who think the cd is trash. They just ain't listening

I hope for Jay's sake they are not any indication of how the album is going to turn out because if it is I'm not buying it. I mean let's face it no album he's done has been better than reasonable doubt, he's just missing that hunger. Subject matter with him lately has been so redundant that I think he loosing fans dumbing down his shit. But this is his life and he can only talk about the things he's experiencing unfortunately the streets don't have the type problems he does, "We don't have G4's to take us anywhere" when you loose the streets you loose the legs you had to stand on. That's why no matter how much money Nas does or doesn't have he will always remain relavent. Jay needs to take the business suit off and go back home for a while; then I think he can put a hot album out. No one wants to go out like LL let's face it. We don't look at him like the monster that he was.

I am not a fan of Gunit but I just bought Rotten Apple and it isnt as bad as people keep saying it is however, it isnt a classic. On a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 7. Just listening it you can tell that there are times that Banks for some reason just holds back instead of going all out. There are some who say that he could outshine 50 lyrically. After listening to this album I think there is some truth to that but as long as Banks is comfortable being a role player rather than going for 50's crown we will never know.
