Just when you thought all was good for Kweli, Eardrum has experienced yet another push-back from his previous November 7th release date. It damn sure didn't have anything to do with Jim Jones (who is slated for the same November release), but my assertion would be that the change in date was made because Kweli's lead single, "Listen," hadn't been getting enough burn. So much for my new addition to the Hi-Tek/Kweli collection.
Speaking of Jimmy, he told Hot 97 personality Miss Info that Hov stole his idea for the "Show Me What You Got" video:
"...dude just basically copied my 'Ballin'' video and did a more expensive version! I guess they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!"

Surprisingly, it appears as if the kid Styles P is standing within a few weeks of release. I guess since the stick recently broke the Camel's back, Iov said to hell with it and finally threw the blackballing out the window.
There are two things surrounding this whole Styles situation. One, a few people sent me an e-mail a while back saying Styles admitted to breaking down and crying out of frustration that his songs for the older version of Time is Money ("I'm Black" and one other, I think) weren't receiving any airplay. I can't attest to that, as I haven't actually read it for myself. But the speculation sticks....
Number two, his latest single for the new version of Time is Money, "Favorite Drug," received some airplay but made absolutely no impact on the listening audience. Taking this into consideration, how is he handling this?
The date is supposedly set for November 14th. Where's the video? Where's the new single? At this point in time, can S.P be saved? Although I would like to see the Y-O MC push units, it doesn't look too promising.
It seems Interscope just doesnt want the LOX anymore. I mean, Lloyd Banks and G Unit pretty much flopped too. Why dont they just move over to Diddy and Bad Boy? They will get much better record deals, promotion and general love this time. Bad Boy Baby, cant stop, wont stop. Or they could go over to Full Surface and get that good production from Swizz.

It is a great shame what happened to him and in general what happens industrywise right now.
Looking back, the dealy of the Clipse and the eternal delay of Styles P are the true face of the industry.

I got that Hi-Tek and a classic it is far from. The guest put it down through out the album, but i can't lie. as much as i wanted the album to be one of my favorites, the production was wack on some of the songs.
I was disappointed. after all yall in this NYC blog and other blogs on other sites talkin about this is "real hiphop", it was just an average cd. i skip through the same amount of songs on this as i did on "New Joc City".

I think his sales would be the same whether it had been sooner or later. The fans will cop it unless he really breaks mainstream somehow. I don't think we have to worry about him dropping some old shit either. Judges from his mixtape he must have a fuckin vault full of material.

I think dude is a beast lyrically but I don't think he has the material to "sell" just like Banks...... and Banks got a heavy machine behind him and he didn't do all that well. Lupe got Jay to exec produce his joint and didn't do the numbers that we thought so I don't know how Kay Slay and Jive will push Pap further than those two. I beg the differ. I think youngins like non complex lyrics with simple hooks today. I guess people just don't like to listen anymore. What sets the North apart is the emcee's are lyrically driven. Everything can't be for the club but it seems that is all people want these days.
