Later for Pap... Saigitty Spits that Real Talk, "Pain in My Life" Vid Shot in Harlem World

All of a sudden, I've grown tired of the kid Papoose. With his crazy mixtape hustle, relentless flow and heavy New York swagger, I thought he would be the perfect fit as the new leader of NYC. But somewhere between his newfound mainstream connection and loss of mixtape interest, I lost interest.

It wouldn't be right to keep him concealed in the mixtape department; every artist needs to grow. But now that he's major, it seems that he's lost touch with the streets.

saigon11.jpg

Then there's Saigon. This kid hasn't pushed nearly as many mixtapes as Papoose, but he seems to have three times the support and way less haters. However, with the way Atlantic has been fucking up, I was afraid that he would fall through the cracks as another talented rapper gone to waste. But surprisingly, The Yardfather has finally shot the video for the DJ Cocoa Chanelle-produced "Pain in My Life." The vid was done on 155th Street and B'way in Harlem.

I was glad I found this. The Brooklyn/Mooseknuckle MC once spoke to Mean about fake thugs glorifying the "gangsta life" and his plan to raise awareness about the desperate situations in the 'hood:

"What differentiates me is these rappers make it sound like that life is cool and keep talking about how 'real' it is. But for me, what's really real is how I lost all my childhood because of one mistake with a gun. I lost damn near seven years of my life from that bullshit they rap about, so I'm here to tell kids there's nothing cool about that gangsta life they glorify. All these people glorifying it, these kids rapping, they're in the studio all day and at the industry parties all night. If they were really out there in the streets every day, risking their lives and risking their freedom, they would know it's nothing to glorify.

"Of course we're gonna sell records, we're in the business of selling records. But I want to be remembered for more than that. Thirty years from now, when we look back on who did what in hip-hop, we're gonna see that 50 Cent made a song about "Candyshop, come lick my lollipop." Meanwhile, we were trying to open doors in people's minds and better the conditions for our people in the hood."

I hope all goes well for Saigon. Rap needs this.

hahaha.....

yea Saigon is nice. i'd pay for his album. u know AZ's album is coming out nov 7 right? u need to touch on that cuz he's the "Legend" of hiphop i am anticipating the most. AWOL was dope, every track was tight. and fuck the haters and stans, do ya thing. peace

The below paragraph was previously included in the blog but I felt it was too inappropriate. So if this applies to you, peep, and keep my shit out your mouth as you're reading it:

Before I bounce, [omitted] ...I know the feeling, as some relentless trickoff makes it his biz to come in here every so often to see if I'll entertain him... to no avail. Months of ignoring him has done nothing. GET OFF MY FUCKING TIP. Does it have a taste mothafucka? SPIT IT OUT. And wipe your mouth.

...ONE.

Speaking of Big ups, whaddup Bigup, Xclusive, Ernest, etc. Sorry about that craziness yesterday. Shit was ridiculous. Didn't catch it till like 12am (as in a few hours ago)

I feel you on that one Immortal Technique is truth!

Shout out to the blog master SOHH Reckless:

1) A well written, meaningful, topic about Brooklyn's Heavyhitter Saigon.

2) For finally addressing the issue with all these damn stans fuckin' up such a positive, informing yet entertaining blog.

Back to the topic; I just copped the new Papoose vs. Saigon mixtape last night coming from work. I already listened to it twice front to back and I've come to the conclusion that Papoose is gonna lead the New New York revolution. This ni99a spit str8 venom on every fuckin' track. However, I still have to give Saigon his props for being able to keep up with such a lyrical monster. If these dudes joined forces and throw in Harlem's own Jae Millz in the mix, NYC should be back in the mothafuckin' building faster than the A Train to Washington Heights.

Anyways good lookin' out on the shout out Reckless.

Peace to real.

BROOKLYN STAND UP!

: SOHH Reckless

So we should expect some changes in here pretty soon, right?

Reckless...

stop being a cry baby man....pap dropped a mixtape in june, kayslay album in august, was just on Hi-Tek's album, doin mad guest appearances, etc, etc.

dude aint lose no connection with the street man, sit back and just wait, if 6 months goes buy and you dont get your exclusive mixtape or album....i guess you can go ape shit.

pap and saigon are equally as relevent to hip hop as you want saigon to be alone haha.

Finally!!! You talking about a new comer who deserves the spotlight. I been seein Sai stomp through Brooklyn for years doing his thing. He's the greatest hope for the New New York. I think others are well intentioned but not talented enough. I just don't feel Pap much, I think his flow is too hard all the time. (Nigga you gang bangin over Bacon?) He's got interesting concepts but he fails to pull them off in his delivery in my opinion. The Yard Father definetely has Brooklyn behind him and that DJ Drama mix tape he did was fire. Peace to the usuals n-site, xclusive bk, huey, my 2 cents, slimgoody, blackfriday ect...

p.s. Immortal tech is the truth but will not get burn because he tells just that.

Pap could be the next great MC. A lot of his older mixtapes were better than the some he put out this year. He needs to put the album out. It seems like hes trying to hard lately with his raps trying to be one of those gay punch line rappers ("i give the facts like a fax machine", " the club is on me like a steering wheel" etc.) Save that wack shit for no talent rappers like Lil Wayne and Cassidy I know hes better than that. I still love him as I do Saigon. They are both FIRE ! cant wait for the albums from the both of them.

This is the facts....Immortal Technique spits the brutal truth but doesn't appeal to a broader audience.....Papoose got nasty lyrical as they all do but he put it in a way the street could identify with it....Saigon got the lyricals, spit the truth, and have the street credentials to go with it...Plus he appeals to a wider audience....I think their success depends on us if we would pick our ass up and go buy their CD"S when it drops regardless of whut the first single is.....MUch Respect...MYSPACE.COM/BOTTLESBABY

Yo. What Dj put that one out? I need to cop that. Pap and Sai are the 2 new heavy hitters. I will cop both album when they drop. Sai sickest mixtape was the one he did with Dj Drama pure fuckin fire.

@ Big Sun

That's what up! Mixtape was sick, sick , sick and took me awhile to get over that one. You have to give to Pap though too. I heard some stuff from him and his delivery is getting better the dude is just fuckin raw, unpolished talent. When Pap nails dude is going to one serious problem. Yo it's started to look like it will be a lyrical 2007. All you nursery rhyme dudes you better soke it up cause your finish. Real Talk!

XBD give me the name of that mixtape Pap vs Sai. I have to cop it. Pap is suppose to drop a mixtape shortly here It's called "Second place is the Firt loser" We need an LP Pap what's up?

What's up to the usuals!

I see Reckless showed up in this piece. Good look out! Don't worry, today is take back our house day. I have a 2 hr meeting this morning btwn 10-12 but I'll be back in about 2 est and I'm unloading a week of angst on any stan stupid enough to open up their mouth.

To topic:

I'm not feeling Pap either. I expected something better than a high pitched Lloyd Banks. I like Saigon. It's about time a young'n came out and spit some truth and bought some real thoughts to the game. It needs it and for all the young niggas that check in here talking that old rappers need to retire shit, does Saigon fit into that same category?

I'm on some grimey, Chicago shit today. Sometimes that equates to NY shit so stans we're on a zero tolerance policy today. Don't think I can't pick your ass out if you use someone else's name either. I know my peeps and I'll lean on your ass all afternoon if you provoke me.

Shout to the real, Reckless and anyone else that loves Sohh NYC.

That was not me that was a fuckin' stan, Reckless please delete that shyt.

My 2 Centz:

It was DJ Suge White some unknown dude but the mixtape is fire.

@ Xclusive BK Dude

You already getting staned? Damn! The kid targets the usuals.

Peace to XBX, My 2, Big Sun.

I'm waiting on LP's now. Mixtapes are cool, but I want these cats to blow. I want these labels to get behind their sophomore efforts because their debuts were hot on the charts. I just want hip hop back where it was in my younger days. It's only going to happen when we get off that 10 dollars whether we like the shit or not. It's a call to arms because our favorite form of music is suffering. We can't say niggas aren't buying because r&b shit is selling like crazy. We have to be better or there won't be anything left but mixtapes.

Saigon definitly has a broader appeal than Pap. Pas is the truth but it seems he doesn't have that gravitas needed to become a mainstreem succes.

Sai got screen quality as well as lyrical ability.

SO, RECKLESS YOU FINALLY GAVE UP ON PAPOOSE,HUH?? FINALLY REALIZED THAT SAIGON IS THE TRUTH,HUH?

FINALLY LOOKED AT YOUR OWN BLOG,HUH?/

STRAIGHT UP....IT WAS LOOKING LIKE PAP & KAY WERE LINING YOUR POCKETS TO IGNORE THE BETTER MC, SAIGON, WHO BY THE WAY HAS A HUGE FOLLOWING DOWN SOUTH.(PAP IS FREQUENTLY CALLED WACK HERE)

IT LOOKED LIKE YOU WERE STANNING YOUR OWN BLOG TO GET MORE HITS. ONCE YOU STOPPED USING REGION HATE TO GET THE NUMBERS, STANS GOT OUTTA CONTROL. GOTTA ADMIT, THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE BUT WHEN THE USUALS STARTED TO BREAK OUT, THAT'S WHEN YOU "HAPPENED' TO READ WHATS GOING ON. WOW, WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!!

Whats up yall, special shout out to my peeps, they know who they are...

Thanks Reckless for recognizing the bullshit...

I'm crackin up at the stans & stan alerts...LMAO! They don't give up but that's ok, I went & bought some roach spray especially 4 2day, LOL.

I've heard of the kid Saigon but haven't heard anything from him yet, but with all the talk I'm lookin forward to at least the video for now....

Saigon is boring he will never be a platinum artist just look @ his pic uptop he look like he come from the village he does not have the brooklyn swagga of jayz, fabolous or biggie smalls
Plus saigon is already in his 30's my boy sha had one of his mixtapes in 2002
He he said something about being 26 back then so I'm sorry saigon but its about time to make that transition to blues n jazz if u in 30s and u aint make a Major release yet u need to sit your a$$ down and let young gunners like fabolous, lloyd banks, lil weezey and papoose take da lane

@ ernest frazier

If these 2 would already drop an LP my ass would right in line purchasing. I don't even need to listen to it first. I have confidence in both these cats. Just like Jay and Nas I'm there. I coped Lupe album so far this year and it was well worth it. I checked for Lloyd and it didn't impress me at all, I have the bootleg in my car and don't even listen to it cause Lupe just getting played everytime I step into my car

SAigon Let's go-dont' let that buzz die! let me tell you I know at least 20 to thirty heads waiting on Saigon's album.n It's time that the HIP HOP/Ny get that knowledgable swagger back!

@brooklyngangsta

Are you really hating b/c of a picture? You can't tell a ni99a's swagger from just a pic...@ least give him a shot before the bs rolls from your fingertips....

What's good people?

Had to stop by and holla. I see yall can't get rid of these dam bugs to save your soul...lol

I was looking forward to Papoose but dam all the talk and nothing but mixtapes. I can't take it. I want a full length CD.

Saigon is a righteous dude on the mic and he has a nice flow - so what's next?

Just let me know when I can get a full length treasure - other than that I am going back to Youtube to trip out with "The Boondocks" --

Peace

@slim

Word to the D.

I'm going to test you this am to see if it's really you. Did you get a chance to do what you said you would last night?

Rotten Apple is just that an almost rotten apple.

Banks has the same monotone sound and flow through the entire cd - dam!!! I am glad I got a listen b4 I purchased it.

I popped it out and put my Lupe back in the whip - I can't take it!

BET is having Hip Hop Awards in November via ATL and Katt Williams is hosting. Should be interesting!

@ My man's E. Frazier

I sure did check it out for a minute & got a look at KSH's also...Just didn't get a chance to read the actual articles, though I plan to do so sometime this weekend:-)

How are you???

What's good EFrazier?

Slim try to keep these boi's in line b/c they don't know how to act on Friday.

What up Slim? Checkin niggas already? LOL

Cant speak on Saigon really cause I have only heard one or two things he's been on, which aint really enough to make an opinion off of, but he sounds straight.

Papoose is still the truth, I dont care what nobody says. Does he have some maturing to do? Sure, there is always room for growth. But truth be told, a lotta these "vets" could stand to grow too. Thats why shit gets cold cause people think they are at the top of their game and dont have to evolve any further. Fuck that. As the game changes, you gotta change too. Pap could stand to learn to ride the beat a little better and although he's got crazy lyrics, he needs to know that $50 words dont always have a place in the rhyme. All in all though, Im interested to see what he comes with.... if he ever comes with it.

Lloyd banks cd is still get major spins in my whip , the replay value is crazy he has lyrically grown the boy banks the next big rotten apple is a classic is gonna debute number 1 on the charts next week

As for saigon the dude look dum gay he got he look like courage the cowardly dog with braids a bootleg ecko shirt on he poppin his collar he does that in 2006??? He some dirty fatigues on ,not to mention he look madd old like he 32 he does not look like brooklynite he look like he from alabama or mississippi he look madd corny
And imagine is everything I can't see 2 many teenage girls voting for him on 106 or white girls in idaho voting for trl
Its a fact ugly rappers don't sell go ask rhymefest freeway or even fat joe

Rotten Apple is just that an almost rotten apple.

Banks has the same monotone sound and flow through the entire cd - dam!!! I am glad I got a listen b4 I purchased it.

LMAO!!!! We need that shit 4 the stans....

@Reckless
thanks for stepping it up

like I said yesterday I ain't mad at your hustle
but you have a racist in here
that may actually be a member of the KKK who is disguising his self as other people
the stans I can deal wit but that other ignorance is whole other problem
racist white people and KKK member do not like to see blacks or minorities organize and share with each
so when they're here is more of a divide and conquer and spread hate type of think and it ruins your blogs.

Back to the topic

I got mad love for Saigon
but ain't this the wrong Lead off Single

I like the song I heard it months ago

but Ain't Ass Whopped fting Twista a much better lead of Single

there's a ton of new music hear
but if you scroll down you find it
Tell me what you think
should Ass Whooped be his lead single

Reckless just picked up a 24 hour pass from me today. There will be a moratoreum on Reckless disses today. If that's a problem then let me know and I'll just ride on you for him, stan!

@Bigup

I'll get at it shortly. Yes it's E-Freezy using NY venacular. I'm adopting sucker free Friday as the theme for today. Is anyone else with it.

Peace to the man Huey with the Black Panther vibe kicking off this am. I'm going to call you little Fred Hampton, fuck his wack ass son.

@ E. Frazier

Thanks, I always keep my word:-)

The only thing is I can't pull it up from work, & NYC needs your input so don't get stuck on your blog 2 much throughout the day...I'm sorry...that sounded a lil selfish:-)
