"All respect to all rappers on Def Jam, I love the label. Without disrespect, I'm about to be the craziest shit on Def Jam." --Nas, MTV News

His ability to back up this claim can be deemed, for the most part, undisputed. However, we're still waiting to see if the current "album release date," December 19th, will manage to stick (*crickets*).
The legendary Queensbridge MC -- who claims his marriage to Kelis was his second marriage, as he married hip-hop first -- had words for the DJs of today (who, unlike pioneers like Red Alert, make it too easy for garbage to sabotage the airwaves), and some words for inquiring minds wishing to know exactly what 'hip-hop is dead' really means.
He told MTV:
"Let's be real. DJs play a big responsibility of what hip-hop is doing. … At the end of the day, it's up to us to control and to own hip-hop. DJs need to challenge us rappers. They got so much power, they need to challenge us. We don't challenge DJs by making crazy shit enough."When I say 'hip-hop is dead,' basically America is dead. There is no political voice. Music is dead. B2K is not New Edition. Chris Brown is great, I love Chris Brown, we need that, but Bobby Brown sticks in my heart. Our way of thinking is dead, our commerce is dead. Everything in this society has been done. It's like a slingshot, where you throw the muthafucka back and it starts losing speed and is about to fall down. That's where we are as a country.
"I don't wanna lose nobody with this, but what I mean by 'hip-hop is dead' is we're at a vulnerable state. If we don't change, we gonna disappear like Rome. Let's break it down to a smaller situation. Hip-hop is Rome for the 'hood. I think hip-hop could help rebuild America, once hip-hoppers own hip-hop. … We are our own politicians, our own government, we have something to say. We're warriors. Soldiers."
When the 'hip-hop is dead' thing first hit the scene, I always thought he meant mainly the quality of music; I guess it's a lot deeper than that. That's real shit.
Thoughtful words coming from "the school dropout," who "never liked the shit from day one."

I feel Nas as well, real shit....
only thing i can't believe that nigga said , was of all R&B pioneers and stand-outs and shit, the nigga choose Bobby Brown as his real nigga of R&B shout out?! Bobby Brown was king of R&B for a fucking year...
second!! nas was right. they've stolen our culture and are making it their own. just pay attention next time you watch tv and see how many commercials have hip-hop music in the background and the product has nothing to do with hip-hop. take mcdonalds for instance. 10 years ago it was all ronald mcdonald. now they have people rapping about their favorite mcdonalds food (on radio) and playing basketball in commercials. look at domino's. on the brooklyn-style pizza commercial there's a shot of a brother at the ballpark who you can hear because he has his trunk open and his speakers blaring. how ridiculous. oh well, if we don't read between the lines hip-hop will never be powerful again. they were scared of it at first but now they're capitalizing off our culture. it always happens. just check the history of music. one.
You see Nas is the truest defination of a rapper/writer.
That Jim Jones needs to really shut his ignorant coon ass up.
Hip Hop is on its deathbed for sure but that's nothing new. The industry has run out of gimmicks and ways to mask it. No bought scans, spins or great white savior can extend the lifespan. Hip hop died when old ass men failed to make way for fresh blood. Nas admits to being 33 which could mean just that or older in an industry where everything is a fucking lie. If he truly loved the culture he would've stop clogging the lane years ago. For all you old farts who'll take issue with that perspective know this - hip hop originated as music made by kids for kids.
MC Hammer was considered too old to rap at 27 while Kane, KRS and damn near everyone before Hammer were pretty much done by their mid 20's. That's a fact. Nowadays, rappers don't get deals till 27.
The trend of old rappers from places like LA, Miami and damn near everywhere outside of the tri-state started the process. With these old ass ringers came very mature, aggressive, explicit subject matter and the road to where we now stand was set. I'm talking about people who had to wait for adulthood to become cool kids.
In attempts to keep up and remain relevant NY followed suit and used superior vocabulary and talent to further advance the foolishness. Now they say Hip Hop is dead and lovers of Black people, culture and arts everywhere say good riddance!
Whats up to the usuals, long time... Odhis, X-clusive, I've always said Hip-Hop ain't dead and I have to take Nas' side on this.
The people who are Hip-Hop, who are responsible for putting it out there, have to keep the standard up. That ish that they are passing at our noses just isn't what we want to be putting out there.
I saw The Roots on 'Rap City: The Pale Imitation' yesterday and Black Thought kept saying that its already three times platinum.
That statement should've been factual, not sarcastic, not ironic, just the facts. He made light of it, but when will that be the truth.
And don't tell me 'nobody wanna hear the Roots' , Game Theory is that ish that i'm talking about.
OK, I'm back, OK, I'm back...
WHY SHOULD WE LISTEN TO NAS OUTTA ALL THE RAPPERS TELLING US HIP HOP IS DEAD?
WE DONT CARE ABOUT IT AT ALL NAS HAS BEEN OUTTA TOUCH FOR SOME YEARS..THE DJ'S ARE THE ONES WHO PLAYED YOUR SHIT WHEN U WAS THUGGED OUT AND BLACK GIRL LOST...NIGGAZ KILL ME THINKING WHAT THEY THINK SHOULD STAND IN MUSIC..NIGGA SHUT UP ITS GOOD TO SEE THE OTHER REGIONS HAD TO GROW AND DO IT THEMSELVES BECAUSE THOSE SAME DJ'S AND RADIO STATIONS IN NEW YORK WASNT SHOWING LOVE..AND TO SAY CATS MUSIC IS MICROWAVE IS COCKY COMING FROM A NIGGA WHO DOESNT GO PLAT AND IS KNOWN MORE FOR ETHER THAN 1 MIC...IF HOV DIDNT MAKE TAKEOVER WOULD NAS BE WORTH 3MIL?WOULD NAS VOICE STILL MATTER?SOHH WE HAD A BLOG YESTERDAY ABOUT CATS THAT ARE OLD AND OUTTA TOUCH..THIS NIGGA SHOULDVE BEEN 1# AND IF HIP HOP IS DEAD AINT A CLASSIC NA SLP WILL COME WHEN HE'S ABOUT 37..AND REALLY OUTTA TOUCH..NIGGA NEED TO HELP KELIS MOVE SOME UNITS AND STOP HATING ON THE GAME RIGHT NOW...WHERE IS 50 WHEN YOU NEED HIM TO SHUT THIS NIGGA UP!!!!
This nigga bitin my style son....
I posted this shit up yesterday.
Anyway.... " NAS IS COMING".......
NaS is the truth!
Nas Still has a voice... yeah he fell off and for a minute but sometimes when your great at something you go in cruise control, like he did for a few albums.. yeah Hov woke him up but a lion is a lion, sleeping or prowling he will fuck you up... Damn even Jordan dropped 33 a game but saved his 50 point games for when Nigga got cocky and started talking that "i can stop him" shit... thats life...
Posted by: HATER at October 12, 2006 07:02 AM
Now thats some motherfucking hate for ya...
I hardly agree but goddamn that some good hate...
IF YOU GOT HATE IN YOUR HEART LET IT OUT NIGGA
but....
Other than that you sound like a fucking idiot.Dudes like Nas,Jay,Pac,Face,BIG,Snoop are timeless. They put shit out 10 years ago that would smash anything out now. Nas has never made music to be popular and sell records and he still manages to be at the forefront of this shit. So you can Lean and Rock your Laffy Taffy ass to death while we get ready for Game,Jay and Nas.
That's right, Nas is right. I don't know what happened. But it is dead. I don't get the same feelin i did when i heard Rae, Pac, or Big. I had to put in my Ready to die shit last night just to get a taste of what i used to feel. I love my south artists. But what's goin on? And dat kid talkin about where is 50 when u need him!? What are you serious. His last album should be used for holdin blunt guts.
Hip Hop was never dead......
You see hip hop everywhere. The music may have suffered a bit but it was at the expense of the culture expanding. Advertisers are eating hip hop up and hip hop artist are making more money than ever due to them expanding their business ventures. Its gonna get watered down due to expansion but there is never a shortage of good hip hop.We had our "Afros" and Biz Markies also. We had our fill of gimmicks with ONYX and GRAVEDIGGAZ. We set off the fucking "running man" and the "Roger Rabbit" so why cry now that the south is doing their thing ? Let them niggaz eat
^ that man is a wise man smartest shit i read all week i co-sign 100 percent hip hop expanding so much
but real talk we probably would not hear from nas if jay didnt call him out or sign that nigga jimmy is right nas is a hypocrit or however you spell it
nas is one of my fav rappers cause he can speak the truth , he can spit hardcore, gansta, pop, and club.and be deep,he can do more than one style at the sametime be true, but if you dident understand what nas meant when he said hip hop is dead hes talking about all the beefs, all the djs that get payola to play wack songs ,and the wrong rich dudes in hip hop makeing poor rappers do songs they dont wanna do for money, once we get rid of all of that hip hop will be alive.like i was talking about yesterday these recond labels are finding poor people that are black weather they can rap good or not they sign them write something down for them do rap about and million clubs buy the wack dance songs, its ok to make dance songs but atlest make good ones with taste like how biggie, fablous, and jay z does, not no taffy taffy, chickn noddel soup , or that wack ass shoulder lean song.cause theirs like a million clubs out their and you no in clubs they will play anything to make people` dance, fans ant really buying dat its the clubs, but like i said yesterday im 28 and these 17 year olds are finnally learning that that laffy taffy shyt is wack and thats not how you rap, thats vanallia ice shyt rite their, few kids are learning the truth here and their and in 2 years it will be world wide, and if they try to lie to kids that are younger than that those kids that are 17 will teach them ,hip hop is dead till dec.oh and nigaz ant haten on the south cause their from the south ,were up set cause 80 percent of them is fucking wack as fuck,we all no their wack rappers in every coast the the south tops the wackest out of all,hip hop is dead till dec, all you snaping ,or gay pop fans go hide in the corner ,real hip hop is back and the wack labels that promote that wack shyt are catching fire from hip hop.1
As long as folks make QUALITY music, people will support it.....be it record store or BOOTLEG.
I agree with 90% of what Nas said. I will add that as a BLACK man in America, FUCK music. We're sitting here claiming that Hip Hop is dead; screw that. Half the ABORTIONS in this country are of male Black babies. (They count Latino babies as white.) There are more Black women than Black men here in the States. The female body knows exactly what society needs. The need is to balance out the sexes. But, through legalized ABORTION, Black females are quick to take innocent life. Black females are the MAJORITY "benefactors" of late-term ABORTIONS. Meaning, more times than none, the Black female knows that she's having a male BLACK baby.
Most of us call certain politicians the "Devil". I say that people who willingly and proudly kill unborn children the Devil.
So, keep dancing. Keep them hands up because obviously we STILL DON'T CARE.

Nas has never made music to be popular and sell records and he still manages to be at the forefront of this shit
^^^^^i dont wanna take anything away from the topic BUT didnt nas have a single on the charlie's angels soundtrack talking about "how a should girl can work it like that,be fly, something about her jeans etc"??its just that the commercial route never really worked for him.he just didnt have the right swagger, image, background(past)
and another thing you dont have to make a full album with dance songs or pop songs to sell, look at eminem,2pac,wu tang, game, nigaz like dat they sold millions of records its all about how you promote your self you can make the most hardcore shyt in the world if you promote your self good people will notice you,its ok to make 3 or 4 pop songs for an album but dont make it all pop or wack and call it rap cause its not ,make it at least 70 percent hip hop thats if you feel you have to do a few pop songs to sell, like i said people are catching on to that wack shyt people are knowing now ,thats why ti was the only platim rapper so far this year, but i think a lot of rappers will change that in the 4th quater, let pop be pop, let rap be rap, let r and b be r and b, let rock be rock, you wanna mix it around sometimes then its ok once inwhile but dont make a hambuger and call it tuna fish,no what im saying, listen we ant mad at the south , we ant mad at people going platium were all mad at the wack songs that are out, then you have people saying oh if you dont like it turn off the tv or turn off the radio, wel you se why should we have to turn that off , it shouldent have to come to that, if you like hip hop you watch the hip hip video channel or radio station why the fuck should we turn off something, that were apart of.real hip hop is back and all them sorry ass killers of hip hop are being laugh at.. the real shyt is first and the wack shyt is out of style ..
e
and another thing you dont have to make a full album with dance songs or pop songs to sell, look at eminem,2pac,wu tang, game, nigaz like dat they sold millions of records its all about how you promote your self you can make the most hardcore shyt in the world if you promote your self good people will notice you,its ok to make 3 or 4 pop songs for an album but dont make it all pop or wack and call it rap cause its not
all those people had some image that a lot of people found very fascinating.
Why are black people from the hood so damn negative?
Why are black people from the hood so mean?
Why are black people from the hood so ignorant?
Why are black people from the hood so hateful?
Why are black people from the hood so eager to rob, kill, or sell drugs?
Why do black people from the hood promote violence?
Why do black people from the hood always blame other people for their short comings?
Why do black people from the drop out of school?
Why do black people from the hood support doing wrong?
Why are black people from the hood so eager to destroy their own race?
How come black people from the hood won't except Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior?
PLEASE ANSWER

Nigga makin sense.
Hip-hop aint dead, the culture, slang, and fasion couldn't be more alive. U got 50 yr old polititians on CNN calling someone a "hater".not to mention how big it is overseas. i spent 2 years in japan and hiphop is huge there.
Rap music is just suffering cause label heads water the hard stuff down so that it feels less threating to people outside hiphop culture. They need 16yr old becky from malibu to buy the blackeye peas and chingy.
All Nas is sayin, is what chuck d and krs-1 been sayin for a long time and that is there is so much that hiphop has the power to do, but we not using it right.
But no, hip-hop aint dead. just look at current pop culture.
hip hop is dead till dec.if you disagree your eaither working for a label that trys to get money off of wack shyt or some one who nos nothing about real hip hop, just rember ,1979 and under is old old school,1980 threw 1991 is old school ,1992 threw 2000 is middel school, 2001 threw 2006 is new school, but the middel school type shyt sounds more new than the new shyt , lot of these new rapers rap too simple with no skillz, their wont be no real new school till like 2010,hip hop is dead till dec.all these white labels makeing people that cant rap notice will all fall , and the real rappers will stand.and nas new album is gonna be fire, but this fire cant be put out, read that wack ass paul wall blog with him talking about rap is nothing its easy and any body can do it,well you se yea any body can rap , but not everybody can rap good people like paul wall are the laughing stock of hip hop,the real shyt is coming get used to it, if not go listen to children songs cause thats whats been playing for the last 4 songs, but now the kids are calling it wack, lol ha, but yea real hip hop is back fix your face.

He has plenty of songs like that. I mean there is nothing wrong with having songsz like that becuase niggaz go to the clubs and get their bop on so why not rap about it ? Dudes holla at fly females so why not write about it ? Why does a nigga have to talk about shooting niggaz all day to get respect ? That shit is shallow and fake.
nas ain't fall off ya'll just stopped buying his shit if you a real fan you copped his shit even before stillmatic like Nastradamus,I Am. but alot niggas think just cause those ain't his most played albums then he fell off don't forget some of the best albums ain't mainstream
This some real ish. There is no real substance in music aside from the coke, crack substances. I really hope Nas backs up his claim as the craziest on Def Jam. I think the brother can
MAN WE GOT SOME HOTT ALBUMS LINED UP COMING OUT WE GOT NAS new ALBUM JAY Z NEW ALBUM,GAMES NEW ALBUM,DR DRES NEW ALBUM,EMINEM,SNOOP,REDMAN,WU TANGS FULL ALBUM,FAT JOE,PAPOOSE,AZ,THE LOX FULL ALBUM,JADAKISS,,STYLESP,HI TECK, YO THE NEXT FEW YEARS ARE GONNA BE HOTT IM HAPPY THOSE WACK SNAPING SONGS ARE GOING AWAY.
also to the cat talkin bout old men need to leave the rap game why is it we the only music genre to disrespect the niggas who came before us and don't say that you ain't disrespectin cause if you did respect them why not let the "old rappers" do they thing if they still wanna rap let them niggas do that they ain't takin no money off no young niggas plate. jay-z and nas ain't stealin no spotlight from nobody if you like they shit but it if you don't then.i'm sick of niggas actin like this shit is a sport it ain't a sport, music is your opinion on shit whether you like political shit or club bangin shit or gangsta shit whatever you like rap about that shit you can't ever get too old to have an opinion to have an idea
It's funny how people say "he's old" or hip hop is made for kids, There not letting younger artist shine. That has to be the dumbmest shit I ever heard. People in there 30's grew up on hip hop, as a matter fact alot of them saw the birth of hip hop. It was music they loved are you saying once in your 30's you can't like hip hop anymore? Man, that's ridiculuos. These young kids out here trying to get into the industry saying "These older artist are not letting us shine" That's an excuse only people who don't have the motivation have excuses. When Jay, Nas stepped on the scene where they crying about "Oh Big Daddy Kane or Rakim won't let us shine of when NWA stepped on the scene" Oh Ice T won't let us shine. No, They stepped on the scene and came at it hard. That's the problem with the younger generation they don't know how to put work in anymore, they want everything handed to them on a platter. Sound like a bunch of spoiled children. Get your grind on, come and take it. For the record Jay-Z "Old ass" is about push some serious units. Oh Jay please don't hurt them! The young kids will be whinning "We can't come out cause Jay is selling records. Get over it older adults like to shake there ass too. Hell I'll be shaking, hip hoping my ass to my grave. Real Talk!

"when I speak, I need cemetary silence." Nas is right, music, collectively is watered down and we need a new direction. with him, game, and jigga dropping, (maybe raekwon?) fans will see what a real artist rap album sounds like.

So! Ask Jay if he cares about a little dude like Jim Jones.
Nas said exactly what we all are saying. At least he is in touch with the fans and what we are thinking. Now, they probably won't play his shit but he doesn't need it. He never got that much play on the radios down here in Chicago anyway. They played "If I ruled the world" and "Street Dreams" remix to death but he never got much shine on anything else. He doesn't need it. Nas is a true icon and he has easily made it into the pantheon with Cube, Dre, Jay, Big, Pac and all the other early 90's rappers. I really can't wait for him to drop now.
Peace to the real! My 2, I C U homie.
I feel where Nas is coming from, but I dont feel hip hop is dead I just think these record execs are putting artists out for the wrong reasons. In the old days, the A&R would sign a artist because they may have seen the potential and been willin to work with the artist, nowadays all it takes is a club banger to generate a buzz and labels are throwing deals at you. The only new artists that I listen to are Little Brother and Lupe Fiasco, but its sad because as dope as these artists are in the mainstream sense these guys are just underground artists who probably wont even go gold. Hip Hop is in a very vulnerable state and to some extent you can blame the DJ's cuz there the ones playing the same bullshit 5-6 times every hour which saturates the weak minded and the children giving them the impression that hip hop aint about actual talent but rather a catchy hook and a beat that everybody can dance too. Being from GA, Im dont mind those snap songs when Im in the club but the other 95% of my life thats Im not in the club I wanna hear that real shit, but everything moves in cycles, this is no different than when Puffy started the Jiggy era and everyone thought he was gonna ruin hip hop.
when I speak, I need cemetary silence." Nas is right, music, collectively is watered down and we need a new direction. with him, game, and jigga dropping, (maybe raekwon?) fans will see what a real artist rap album sounds like.

As far as Rae is concerned...that nigga is a wrap. Aftermath has been around for years and all they do is push niggaz shit back. Rakim ? Eve ? Game ? Truth Hurts ?
If it ain't 50 or Em, it ain't coming out on Aftermath. Their history speaks for itself.

co-sign!
That is some stupid shit. Jay is the ugliest nigga around, Big even acknowledged being black and ugly. Diddy only has swagger, that's an unattractive dude(all according to my wife). Looks don't sell shit!
Hey peoples:-)
I hate to say it but...hiphop is dead or slowly dying...it's fucked up b/c that's what most of us grew up on but how do you think our parents felt when hiphop started...they were like wtf? b/c they grew up on motown classics that everybody loved, but it eventually died out...I understand the fuss but that's what happens every 20 years or so...a new genre of music is created & the previous is old news...
What's up Dig?
I'm laughing at some of these posts. I respect people's opinions but some of these people are extremely misguided.
@ihadno
I think Dre is going to put Rae out quickly. I think when he signed Rakim he was in a creative funk because of his own album. I also think there was still a disconnect between NY and Dre during that time also. He bought it back with "Big Bang" and I think he discovered a formula for nationwide fans. I mean "One Blood" is hot as hell. I'm holding out for that new "Cuban Linx" and I'm copping whether it's good or not. I'm a Rae stan!
Wud up Ernest, Xclusive BK Dude!
nas need to shut the f*ck up,what has he been doing all these years while his mates are making the cheddar, nigga need to make his money, why aint jay talking sh*t? cos they all rich, nas dont expect new generations to listen to his novel he calls verse, matter er fact nas is boring although am a fan.
What's up slim!
Nas hit the nail on the head. The radio is the reason for hip hop's dying state. I don't care though. I'm still going to buy Nas and Jay. I'm still going to get what I can for my whip. I don't think it's dead yet it just isn't what it used to be.
People are so focused on the current state of hip hop that they fail to see the current state of THE COUNTRY. The reason for the watered down music is because of this watered down society.
If music is a reflection of real life than what does the current music say about the current state of our lives?
It's not just hip hop that's feeling the wrath, it's in other genres as well. Rock, alternative, hell even country. I saw a country music video that was titled "Honkey Tonk Baddonka Donk" wtf?
This country is going to hell in a handbasket because of the smut, trash and filth that's being shoved down our throats everyday. If it's not the Girls Gone Wild commericials, it's the Levitra commericials that come on in between our favorite shows.
It's 2006 and you can now hear, bitch, ass, I even heard bullshit, on REGULAR TELEVISION. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH AMERICA, not just hip hop.
The music is a direct reflection of the type of images that we are protraying to our children and even to adults.
Everybody wants to be a gangsta, everybody wants to be a killer, everybody slang dope, everybody fucks four broads at once. It's sickening and we need to look at the bigger picture, not just at hip hop.
Morality, values and decency have been pushed to the side and THAT is the reason that you have so much nonsense floating over the airwaves. Peoples goals and priorities are intermingled in a sexually charged immoral mindstate.
But hey, that's just my opinion.
Whats good usuals its way 2 many to name.
I'm glad Reckless finally has a decent topic but I know the same stan thats been attacking the blog since Monday morning is lurking in the background so I'ma just fall back b4 he gets here. Everybody have a good day.
FUCK THE STANS!
BROOKLYN STAND UP!
@ Slim
Well said. You know what, I'll be playing the hip hop oldies in 20 years. Saying what you know about that? That's grown folk music. LOL
We need to just support each other.

Rae is my nigga too but "Aftermath" and quick release is an oxymoron to say the least. Dre can't even get his own album out. I'll believe it when I see it but I don't have faith in Rae dropping anytime soon. He had Rakim rotting away . He had Eve in the bucket and let her go. He couldn't put Game out so he shipped him to G-Unit. Truth Hurts left just as fast as she came. Stat Quo is not the status quo on there either. I just don't believe it will happen.
BIGUP
Wud up? Any other trips down memory lane? I'm going to have to go through my tape collection now.
I hope his shit ain't garbage, what he tryna kick knowledge?
Guess we'll see in 2nd Quarter 2007 after Hov flops. Nas WILL NOT sell a mil. Despite that, I hope itz iLL. He has a big responsibility to drop some dope shit no matter what spin he puts on the title.
I'll be suprised if Jay makes it to a mil. Hope he comes better than those first two singles. Well at least the first one. Second one is "ehh"
Damn, I musta had a 32oz Haterade this mnornin!

They just signed this new cat name Joel Ortiz. Dude is sick, his style and flow reminds me of Big Pun but I think his going to get shelved too. It's a shame cause he is raw fresh talent comming out of Brooklyn.
Hey E. Frazier
Yes, that's true, it's not all the way dead but dying...slowly...things change, there are still a few peoples that are waiting on hiphop to come back, but the truth is it's never gonna be like it was....
Like my 2 cents stated, we gonna be listening to rap/hiphop in 20 years old as hell, talkin bout "what u know about that"....everything is a big circle...hiphop had a great run but now it's over...
What up, Ernest?
Slim/NSite/BigUp and everybody else Im missin.......
NSite: State of the Country? State of the WORLD! To me thats the issue though. Thats what hip hop USE to be. Hip hop use to be the avenue by which "we" voiced our concerns and opinions about the "our" world and the world at large. Today - where's the message? Where's the profound thinking? Where is the lyricism? All that shit - just like the world around us - has gone to shit. I sooo feel you.
Well said. You know what, I'll be playing the hip hop oldies in 20 years. Saying what you know about that? That's grown folk music. LOL

LOL, exactly!
@ My 2
Man...I was in Hip Hop heaven going down Hip Hop memory Lane....lol.
It's 2 bad you have do an all out investigation on a joint today b4 U copp it when back in the day U knew the joint was money and U didn't have to ask anyone for an opinion ... it was understood that the joint was hot....Those were the days...
nas is too old period, and he could cure somebody with insomnia with that boring flow and fucking cryptic code lyrics. Hip hop is for the young youthful people of the world, so if you over 30 listen to jazz and grow up youve got to mature at some stage.
The Jay singels ain't all that to me. They are alright but I hope there is better to come. The stuff that I've heard from Nas since he signed are hot. The Diddy and Ceelo joint is fucking flawless. He had Diddy sounding like he should get the crown. That Hi-Tek joint is crazy also and I won't even begin to speak on the Game shit. I can honestly see Jay coming out the gate for 700K easy. Just the anticipation alone is gonna drive sales up. That has no bearing on the quality of the album but I never worry about quality when Nas and Jay are the topic. Nas will sell because he is dropping right before Christmas and that is always the biggest selling week but fuck the sales... I just want a classic.
Hip Hop is dying cuz people like E.Frazier are waiting on a Raekwon album!
Folks dont wanna hear real talk from Saigon, Southern Cats like Z-Ro...ya'll wanna hear recycled Non-Sense from the likes of Jay-Z...Not tryin to start an argument on Jay, but damn, pass da mic...He aint talkin bout shit! Look toward the future and not the past and maybe Hip Hop will have some life!
NAS is tha truth tho!
THA KING HAS SPOKEN!
Peace to Dig, Slim and N-Site and everyone else
Sup Slim, Dig, N-Site, X-clusive, Big-Up...

Joell is nice. Its just that Aftermath isn't the best place for a new artist. Its hit or miss with dre. There is never any in between. Its almost as if he won't put a nigga out unl.ess he is gonna sell 500K the first week. Dre is an amzing producer and all that but he has had his fair share of flops as far as his label is concerned. The Firm album was hot but it seemed as if everything went wrong on that project. I dig Dre but I just don't believe in him developing any artist.
i mean ive got to admit im looking forward to the nas album more than jays. I mean id go as far to say id rather listen to lil john, than them two jay tracks, the south seems to have become the lyrical capital know.

That was not BigUp who made that stupid ass comment I put money on that shyt. Don't mind me I'm just tryna pick off all the stans as they come people, if it gets to overwhelming I'm done.
Niggas and their juvenile Shit.....
Anyway, I think that it is is not that shit is old and we are asking for it to be recycled but we just hunger for some relevant and meaningful shit at some point.
Personally, I want some meat at some point. I don't want meat exclusively b/c that will give me colon cancer. However at some point give me some real meat and not just candy...that is my metaphor for the game (past and present)as I see it.

@XBX
I already did that one.
My blog is new and it's not about hip hop, I leave that to Reckless.
These fucking stans make me want to throw up. I shouldn't have even mentioned this KingofSohh cat in my post. Now he referenced me in his. I don't care about all the innuendo, I'm copping Jay, Nas and any other dope mc out here. I still have Lupe in the plastic because I'm still stuck on Ice Cube. I'm going to pull it out this weekend for my tailgate party before the Bears on Monday night.
I thought that nigga album was droppin next month????
@ BIGUP2BK
Yea, they were. I wouldn't change it for the world. Hip Hop back then was so different, so rebelest. You had to stay up to listen to 98.7 kiss FM Red Alert to get your dose of hip hop because coporate america frowned on it. Parent use to say "that's not music". Then the late 80's, you thought to yourself hip hop couldn't get any better but by the 90's corporate america finally starting accepting it. Hip Hop radio stations started popping up, it started to explode into mainstream then by the late 90's into 2000 it just started to become a gimmick a way of corporate america to capitalize of it. I tell you this too when Puffy stepped on the scene this is when all that hip hop mixed into pop imerged. Recycling beat with no content in it. I never liked puff from day one. Just because how he just butchered hip hop. As a DJ back then I had to buy his records because people wanted those party traks. You see the DJ has to play what people like, your goal is to get people on that dance floor. So to blam a DJ for playing BS it's not there call, it's the listeners and party goers. Hip Hop has definitely changed for the worse
I swear we already touched on this topic
@ the Nas fell off comment
same thing that happened to Wu Tang
happened to Nas except he handled it better.
He came into the industry as a hybrid between a MC and the streets and the streets embraced him. However all Artist when they get successful and financially leave the streets. Grow in a different direction. In alot of ways his growth left alot of ngz who hadn't grown with him, behind. Corner ngz want to listen to Corner nga sht. They don't care how much skill is in it. Just spit that hard street sht that I living right now. Perfect example is Jeezy lyrically is terrible Rick Ross is avg lyrically Dipset is terrible but they sell cause they're saying the sht corner ngz want to hear. They want you to stay confined to the lifestyle they are still living. For me at lot of Nas' contradictions are due to Nas trying to balance growing as a man and still trying to be loyal his backpack/emcee fan base and the streets he grew up in. However, He's out grown those streets he grew up in. And them ngz when you ask em about Nas say I ain't feeling him no more. Cause he ain't spitting that crazy crack, shot em up, street dreams sht he was spitting when he first came out. Its why so many artist try so hard to keep it real. So they won't get back to their hood and have ngz say, you changed when the truth is you grew and they didn't, Ex Im into Big things listen to the chorus.
When Jay said that shit is garbage what you tryin spit knowledge, that was how Nas was viewed by every lil nga on the block still slanging. Jay is still spitting that crack sht. He still reps us. (Bull you know how much mental insite was on reasonable doubt and In my lifetime vol 1 Jay switched up for sales and now yall love him)
Trust corner ngz ain't trying to hear dat sht.
Even though Jay later contradicted himself after his Blueprint album struggled in sales. And said "Yall don't respect my knowledge yall respect my dollars." I.E. saying yall are ignorant.
I tried to give you something real and ain't buy the record which is what Nas goes through trying to stand up and say something meaningful to the street he grew up in. Nas never fell off he grew
those that didn't grow with him say he fell off. The proof in the type of people that say Nas Fell off.
Nas spaeks tha truth.
but who's with 'em?
who is ready to put away makin they millions of dollars to go political with this thing?
and thats where the probablem occurs, alot of these rappers never made money like da wasy they makin abd how easy they makin it and they just not ready for all dat.
because black folk dont stick together no mo'. everybody's out to get theirs and theirs only.
Texas baby!
these stans are getting unbearable. Anyway ive got some info before i go, im moving from detroit to new york at some point, i need a change in my life as im getting closer to 30, and i want to experience different things.

Like I said earlier, I think Dre just took a little time to find his lane and he had 50 and Em doing major shit. Eve's album with Dre did some nice work. My wife played that shit like it was the only joint out a few years ago. I think he connected with the NY public when he put out Busta.

But its a job... its their employment. They don't have built in pensions and healthcare. Niggaz know thaty they only have a couple of years in this business so they try to get as much as they can while they can. I don't hate on a nigga for going after the paper because in the end of it all, we ain't gonna take care of him when he stops rapping. As fans, we get it twisted as far as the business is concerned. We can't expect these niggaz to sit in a studio and make music with no intention of making money behind it. Time is money and they need that kick back. I don't fault a nigga for going left and going after that paper but you have to deal with it when it backfires on you. No one person is responsible for bringing this hip hop shit to the forefront and no one person can bring it down. How sad was it to see that nigga from Goodie Mob taking collections to get a prosthetic limb after his accident ? Where were the fans at for that ? Niggaz got family to take care of.
yo hater you's a dumb soft sack ass nigga cause you said Nas don't go plat? NIGGA are you fucking dumb? check Riaa.com ALL OF HIS ALBUMS HAVE GONE PLAT THE ONLY ONE THAT DIDN'T GO PLAT SOON AFTER REALESE WAS ILLMATIC AND THATS CAUSE IT WAS SLEPT ON AT THE TIME. DUMB FUCKIN ASS CLOWN. I don't hop in on the beef shit and say fuck this group or that group but nigga when you speak speak truth look the shit up. Garbage as fuck nut! Damn I can't stand lil bitches comin slick out the mouth and don't know shit.

need this topic be elaborated anymore?
i mean that just said it all.
texas Baby!
this is a classic case of a house school nigga not feeling the new cats.
nas and busta wanna take it back to the rope chain and kangol days but thats not happening because the younger generation are the one's buyin hiphop.chris to bobby brown?nas is really desperate to be heard, nas should have young mentor and a label then he would not feel this way.dude is outdated am 30 years old no bias.but i keep up with all hiphop and this aint the 2000.

Eve never released anything under Dre. She was signed to him a while back and he let her go to Ruff Ryders. They have a joint venture now (of course after she has established herself) and her next joint will come out under Ruff Ryder/Aftermath but who know if that will ever happen. Dre always get love here in NYC because he is just that nigga. There are certain artist that get love regardless of where they are from and Dre is one of him because you can't deny his contributions to this game. But never the less, I hope Dre makes me eat my words in regards to Rae. Cuban Linx Two mixtape is incredible.

Homie, is your fuckin existence so bad that U have to try to suck my dick and niggas’ dick all day long, every day.
Are you so fuckin inconsiderate and retarded that when a group of educated Black people want to gather in a forum to speak about issues that matter to us a community and as a people that U would daily come on here and fuck it up. Do you hate your own people that much?
Are U doing this simply b/c U are a fuckin uncle Tom and the idea hate of Black people, Black Progress and Black progressive conscious thought? Does the idea of Black people engaging in a meaningful topic infuriate you so deeply and severely that in your pervasive cognitively deficient feeble mind you feel you accomplished some kind of warp victory coming on here and being a asshole and a Uncle Tom?
Perhaps you are whiteboy who is just a vicious racist and you chose this blog to fuck up b/c out of this blog (and others) you see progressive political, social BLACK conscious thought and so being the racist cracka that you are you have decided to fuck up the blog.
Which is it….in my view either way you are an enemy to our people and are worthy of the severest penalty that one should suffer when they betray their people or openly hopeh for the destruction of Black people as you clearly are doing.
And Reckless where is your ethics.
You need take some lessons from Soulman. Why is it that Soulman does not let his blog get corrupted by Uncle Toms, racists and gay juveniles but day after day you let this shit ride? Are you getting paid by the each posts and thus don’t give a fuck about what goes on on your blog. Maybe we all should go over to Soulman or some else who is willing to shut the shit down.
Homie each day I sign on here I am loosing more and more respect from you b/c you are starting to looking like an unethical ho… Deep in my heart I saw U as real cat but every since this shit has been going on you have lost your dick and nuts. Nigga, stand the fuck up and shut these mumfuckas down or risk everyone eventually breaking the fuck out.
Stop bowing down to the lute and not standing up for what is right.
If you deleted that bullshit it would not happen. However b/c of the Cheddar U R sitting on your ass letting these fuckin sambos and klansmen do this shit.
U R fucking up, son…real talk.
Nas needs to shut his mouth. like Cam said,"and u claim to ba a hip hop head, doo wop, 2 shots in his hip hop head, this way the whole world know that hip hop dead!" he's dead, he 45 yrs old, jay 52, they need to give it up. chancletas and kufis.lol!

Co-sign! That is exactly what I was thinking yesterday when I migrated over to Soulful for a few threads. It's hard to build when you don't know whether you're responding to a stan or the real deal. Htownmike has been destroyed over here thanks to this stan. I'm not over stating the fact that I was convinced that mike was making those posts, but I'm sure that we were all fooled.
Reckless, I don't understand your motives but I do understand this point. I went to your man Soulful yesterday and not one stan got through. I know you have to ability to stop a lot of this shit. You're losing your entire crop of people that have expanded your shit to match Soulfuls amount of posts. Letting the stans add to that is like addition by subtraction. You lose integrity, but you gain whatever it is you have gained from allowing it. I guess we know your price, brother!

Yeas that was really me....
The word "invisible" in "Invisible Empire" means just that. It describes the condition of the Racial Resistance. It describes the manner in which that Resistance is intended to operate. It describes the type of weapons which that Resistance is to be equipped with in this coming era. Secrecy may not be fully possible in this electronic age but privacy, a degree of secrecy, is quite possible. Secrecy is what bedeviled the federal tyrants during the period of the First Era of the Order, that courageous Ku Klux Klan. Secrecy is what enables the few to confuse, confound and to conquer the many. It was the ability of the stalwart bands of individuals, surrounded on all sides by congoids and Washington-directed satraps and local sellouts, to appear, to disappear and to re-appear, that gave our South and our White Race its victory. It was the psychological warfare and innovation of the "now you see them, now you don't" type of cavalry tactics that enabled the Klan to terrify the foe and divide him up into easily digestible morsels. It was the inability of the local traitors, as prevalent then as now, to definitely identify who the masked rider was or where he came from. And the masked rider in the coming Fifth Era of the Klan will not be riding a horse called Silver, nor integrating with any Indians called "Tonto". Yet, he will fight for justice, for what is right, and for the rights of the white minority in both the East and the West, the North and the South. Yes, you had better believe it. He will be riding. It will be with a thunder of hooves, and a hearty "Ku Klux Klan" ringing out through the night, that he will herald in the Fifth Era of this Ancient and Honorable Society, this Astral Order called the Ku Klux Klan!
This blog is proof that no matter how peaceful black people try and live "The Man" always finds a way to fucc shyt up! Thank you white man u can kiss my black ass and when I get rich I'm funding every fuckin' Left Wing Politician in the fuckin' book! U fuckin' neo-cons can kiss my ass.

LMAOOOOO
U R 18...now I know that U R the stan.
A fuckin child....LMAOOO
Nigga go play with your jacks...
This nigga is 18....lMAOOOO
Nigga U have not even learn how to fuck a woman the right way yet....lMAOOOO and learning how to fuck a man doesn't count b/c U probably do that well...
Anyway, nigga I bet U R still nutting as soon as U enter the pussy....LMAOOO
U know what is funny is that your moms is probably 36 years old....wow...I am 30 and I fuck 36 years old women all the time. Damm I probably fucked your mother...
Yeah I am sure I fucked her ole stank ass....yeah I remeber here...her pussy smelled awful but I got thru it...
Tell that bitch wash her ass...She smelled like she worked at the fish market.
Anyway, nigga U R 18 so U R not on my level. I don't have time to talk to children. I talk to grown folks.
I can't believe I was arguing with a fuckin child....and H.S. drop out at that.
U R dismissed.
I'm a big Nas fan and I feel that nigga to the fullest, but if Hip-Hop is dead, he can be a part of the solution.
There's a group of niggas that could fit in one conference room that could change the course of HIP-HOP AND HISTORY. It's MCs, DJs, and executives that include Nas, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, Snoop, Lyor Cohen, Jimmy Iovine, Kevin Lyles, Funkmaster Flex, DJ Drama, 50 Cent, Chris Lighty, Steve Stoute, Elliot Wilson and about 40 other people that you could put in a room and if they set an agenda, it would be ridiculous. The first part of that agenda though has to be to get back to dropping quality, original CDs and not trying to make sure you don't offend the "dope boys" and supposed "killers" by saying certain shit on wax.
But it could never happen because most of them are too worried about their own bank account and stepping on the next man.
Your 18, Get out of your moms house already. Return that expensive lease vehicle so you have enough money to go and find an apartment to live in. Go get an education you have way to much time on your hands for an 18 year old
BIGUP2BK not a drop out nigga im from England and we finish high school at 16 dummy. Im doing english and psychology A level and im in my final year before i go to university, silly old man.

Peace to my usual blog peeps, tomorrow we're taking our shit back! You all know how I roll on fridays. It's ether a stan day!

Think of it like this.
Remember when you were young(a few years ago)and your moms/dad told you that they were going to whoop your ass when you got home. You had to wait all day knowing they wouldn't forget. Think about tomorrow just like that.
In the words of Cube:
"Maybe I should take you out, do you ugly, so momma can't make you out"
That's from "Child Support" and I'm going to roast you, I promise. After I get done, I'm going to let htownmike ride on your ass if Bigup2bk isn't through chopping your ass up today. Punk, faggot stan!
Fuck you Reckless for allowing this to happen but we're taking this shit back tomorrow. I'm calling that shit Judgement Day like a fucking Will Smith movie.

Y'all think these are kids "stanning" mufuckas, it's probably GROWN ASS WOMEN AND MEN doing this bullshit.
And to Reckless, you's a real BITCH for letting this shit continue, but I guess you have no integrity or balls, huh? Yeah I know.
To everyone else, I think we can pretty much tell who is REALLY posting REAL comments and those that are not real, so don't let it TOTALLY ruin the blog or turn you into a "stan-n-nator" LOL
Bigup2bk, don't stoop to the level of these imbeciles or go back and forth with them, ignore them, because they acheiving their goal of getting under your skin and that only encourages it.
Everybody knows you're not a homo, along with all the other REAL niggas on this blog...E Frazier, My2Centz, IHADNO, and all the rest...
And even though I've bumped heads with htownmike, I know half the stuff that people post under his name is not him, so we either stop communicating because of some immature assholes or choose to continue on and ignore the stupidity.
Peace and blessings.

i agree with you one hundred percent. that roots album was the best hip-hop i've heard in a long time.
i hope nas can live up to his words. i think what he is saying is exactly whats going on. he's about elevating the mindstate of hip hop, not dumbing it down and i'm all for it. when did age become a determining factor as to the relevance of an artist? last time i checked it didn't.
i've been avoiding the blogs lately due to the amount of idiots on here "staning up" maybe sohh will create a blog for them to hate on each other. that way they aren't blocking real cats politicing.

Posted by: ihadnochoice at October 12, 2006 08:49 AM
i didnt say that there is anything wrong with that, its just that he never really cashed in on doing that like some artists have.his fans always act like he didnt do songs like that.50,jay etc cashed on songs like that and people start calling them wack, pop etc but never say that they are talented enough to make songs that a lot of people can listen to(whether hip hop fans or not) and way more versatile than some artists.
yo... nas is right... for yall that been around a bit yall KNOW it aint like it was.... on the radio tv at shows battles all that shit...

It also hit a spot when I called him an Uncle Tom b/c he knows that it is true...
Anyway, U R right....
Now N SITE what color Tux should I wear to the church on Saturday...I know I should wear something that compliments your wedding dress....lol
it seems to me that once hip-hop became marketable it lost it's soul. there are watered down versions of it everywhere now. just turn on the tv and you'll see advertisments over hip-hop beats. damn money can ruin everything, not just money itself but what people will do to make it. even if that means making music with no message or content whatsoever. hip-hop now is a bastard child that is exploited beyond belief. i can't call most of these rappers out now "artists" in order to be an artist you have to be creative. most of the cats are cookie cutter left overs.

When I read this over at MTV a few weeks ago I was nodding my head the entire time. Whether you like Nas or not you have to admit he made a very strong point.

The problems is a problem of lack of professional ethics and this lack of ethics corrupts the creativty of the artist.
We really do not have "artists" anymore; what we have now are captalists.
These cats sit down with their corporate Marketing bosses and then determine what their music will sound like.
If U look at a cat like Prince (I know he is not Hip Hop) he does not care what the people want he is going to give people his art as he feels and envisions it.
It is the uniqueness that I love about Outkast, Lupe, The Roots and Common. I love the fact that U can be 100 percent sure that whenever and whatever they drop it will not sound like the norm...they make the people comform they don't comform to the people...

Me again...I did buy Banks' CD.
If U have not bought it yet U may want to hold off until U get a listen to it first.
Including listening to it this morning I have listened to it 4 times and now my appetite to listen to it again is completely gone. It will not be in my rotation.
He has a few joints on there that are good... I love the NY NY song....the collabos are the best but unless U are a huge Banks fan than U maybe dissapointed. He does not change his flow the entire ablum that is why U collabo are welcomed......
The tracks are the illest but Banks suprisingly fall a little short on most tracks that are not collabos..
I lowered my expectations and so it did exceed my expectations but not by much.
I just wanted to let U know how I felt about it b/c U and I both had talked about copping it.
I don't want to bias you...in fact if U R a huge Banks fan than copp it...If U R on the frindges than U make want to listen 2 it b4 purchasing...
This blog is done. Stans have shitted on here long enough. I will now call my home SOHH Soulful.
See you when I see you: E Frazier, BigUp2Bk, Xclusive BK, htownmike, Huey Freeman, Black Friday, and anybody else I left out.
PEACE.

He does not change his flow the entire ablum and that is why the collabo are welcomed......
I din't like the banks album either. thought the first one was good and maybe that's why it didn't meet my expectations. Ludacris, on the other hand, has the hottest album i've heard all year...every song has great beat, delivery punchlines.
@bludevil06
true,true,true.....
rotten apple = dissapointment (mobb deep #'s?)
Release Therapy = needs to go plat. great album...no way T.I. should go plat and not luda.
Posted by: bludevi06 at October 12, 2006 02:54 PM
Yeah B, over the summer my expectations were high but I than I lowered them when I saw the bad XXL review.
Therefore I went in looking for trash although I tried to be balanced...and what I found were ill tracks and what and an unprepared Lloyd Banks....
I am told Luda is Crazy...I am going 2 copp his joint this weekend. I should of copped it yesterday instead of Banks.
ANyway it is empty in here...one of our occassional guess from Soulful was making mockery of this blog's demise ...Blog hate is so wak...
Anyway whatever empowers folks...I guess.
Have U copped Meth's joint?
Correction
what I found were ill tracks and a unprepared Lloyd Banks....
yeah, i copped it! I love the song "got to have it" and "somebody done fucked up" how about you.
meths album is underrated yo his flow is still good and hes still relevant to whats goin on
@ bludevil06
I have not copped it but my man Huey Freeman told me it's tight. I should have known that I can't go wrong with Meth.
Right now I am stuck on the Roots' cd...my rotation is the Roots, Lupe, Busta and Common at the moment...
I can't see anything breaking that rotation anytime soon....
I am going to give my Banks Cd to my younger sister...I heard enough of it and it is not a need for me to just let sit around and collect dust b/c I know I want bump it anymore...
Right now I waitin on Nas, Game and Hov...
And am I the only one who like the Jay Z's newjoint...I love the PE beat he is spitten 2...maybe it's is just me...does anyone like that joint other than me?

i must be the only one who hasn't heard it but i don't listen to radio and im not online enough to download it. radio in l.a. is garbage by the way.
@Bigup2bk
I kind of knew that Banks album was going to be a hot mess...he needs to break away from 50 in order to become a force to be reckoned with, because 50 done ruined all relationships with a lot of other artists because of bullshit beef...I believe Buck is tryna leave, that's the buzz.
I haven't made a comment all day on Nas because I really don't listen to his music, nor do I have any of his CD's, not that I dislike him, I just don't FEEL him like that, that's just MO.
I'm actually waiting for the Blue Carpet Treatment...I like the Vatos joint with B-Real and it sounds like Snoop might be taking me back on some Murda Was The Case type ish...as for Hov and his upcoming release...I could really care less, I'm not a fan of him either, I think he's way overrated, a good MC but overrated.
Nas is a great MC. I just don't understand what would possess him to entitle his new album Hip-Hop is Dead." It sort of lowered the expectations that I have for this album.
Not to mention, that he may have limited his sales, due to public interpretation of what he means by that statement.
I agree with N-Site about banks and all the beef that surrounds the whole g-unit. well, 50 really but since he drags everybody he know into his beefs that includes banks. Don't think he'll leave g-unit just because he's like jay-z's memphis bleek ( although way more talented). if he leaves 50 he leaves a lot of support and money. its like jay said about bleek. even if he is one hit away his whole life hes in his will somewhere so he don't have to worry about money...ever!

It was convincing....LMAOOO....
We will get our blog back soon...
U know what is crazy is that an occassional guess actually saw pleasure in the demise of this blog...
I have 2 questioned the psyche of a person who would take pleasure in seeing the demise of (for the most part) a progressive blog...
It sort of irritates me b/c I expect more from that person who took a shot but I guess I shouldn't be surprised by anything anymore....
However unlike this person I am not going to run over 2 soulful crying and shit asking for an explanation of this person sneak diss (how wak) when that same person lead the charge over when they felf like people over here dissed them...folks are nothing but hypocrites
Sohh NYC is on it's way back....

As far as getting respect from me I'm going to have to go with Ice Cube.
I was in love with O'Shea when he had the long drip drip and the tight black jeans.
How far he's come as an individual is amazing to me, from being a gangsta rapper to directing and starring in hit movies and he's still putting out quality music today. He gets much respect from me.
Honorable mention goes to Ludacris, for being himself and not falling victim to the fake gangsta imagery and just making good music. Whether it be about shaking ya money maker (which I despise) or War with God (a great song and diss to the music industry as a whole)

Shit that is what I like to think of myself as being...That a good thought 2 take out in to these NY streets.
Have a good one, Queen.
I respect Snoop...he has grown up a lot since his first LP. He's gone through his stages and taken us along with him. He's admitted that the whole pimp phaze he went through was wrong and reconciled his relationship with his wife...the guy has always held it down for us here in L.A.
Also, I know I'm gonna get hated on for this but a lot of respect for Ja Rule. The guy tried to take the bigger man approach toward 50. when that obviously didn't work he went hard at him and in my opinion won. He even got to eminem with one line "you say your mother's a crackhead and kim is a know slut, so what's haley gonna be when she grows up?". After the whole world shitted on his name he's still spittin some hot lines and his last album "R.U.L.E" was slept on, specially out here on the west coast.
@ BigUp:
Damn son, I guess you bounced. I'm just getting back on here, because I was shut out since my last post. Thats' some wild shit how "Bitchless" don't block stans, but shut me out when I post.

Yeah Ja had plenty of fans until 50 came out...then people just abandoned him...fairweather fans...
I'm glad to see Snoop try to return to that original formula. He got lost in the mix somewhere around The Last Meal or Tha Doggfather which was garbage, but I'm still checkin for him, I want him to bring me back on some Doggystyle 2006 type ish...
I may not agree with what everyone says or here cause Nas is my second fav Pac first but I think this and many other sites should implement a screen name and Password system that way they could Ban people. I know they could creat other accounts but most people wouldn't take that time they would just move on.
Sorry folks but Hip Hop is far from coming back. Just think when you watch 106 and Park and what are you watching? Bullshit music and where does the show happen, in New York. A New York show playing garbage music. Plus, no offense to Lupe, but he saying the same shit, that Nas being saying for years. Lupe ain't doing nothing but telling me something I already know. I already know Hip Hop is fucked up. Plus what are going you to do about it? Many artists like Nas have been singing that same tune for years, and Hip Hop has yet to change. Most rappers will never stop talking about drugs, and killing, and money. So get over it. I try to kick knowledge too, but my words just fall on deaf ears. People only hear what they wanna hear. Plus most of the people that just responded to this article, probably still gone buy the Lloyd Banks album, or the next 50 Cent album, so most of ya'll probably gone contradict yourselves. Talk is cheap, actually do something about it. Nas been talking the same shit since Illmatic, and he ain't accomplished shit. There are not many people listening to Nas like there should be, but shit what can you do about it. Lupe talking about Talib Kweli and Mos Def, it's not gone help. Face it, they will never do good on the charts, because there are too many ignorant people that like to listen to ignorant music. Like I said, all the talking is for nothing. It's alot of people that don't even believe in God, so you know the world is messed up. It's hard to reach out to just even a few people. Just forget it, and do your own thang. Cause you can't change people that don't wanna change. Don't worry about other people. Just do the music you like, stop worrying what other rappers are talking about. Just do you. Cause they not gone stop. It's still niggas in the hood that's trying to rap about money and drugs, every damn day. So forget it, it will never stop. Plus if you gone talk about those rappers, you might as well talk about Biggie and Pac. Cause they rapped about drugs and shit too. But I bet Lupe ain't got the balls to diss Big and Pac. So just drop it. I mean I love Big and Pac, but it just pisses me off that people like Nas and Lupe respect Big and Pac, but what they respecting goes against the type of music that they(Nas and Lupe) make. Nas especially kicks knowledge and shit, but at the same time contradicts himself by loving Big and Pac, and no offense but Big and Pac didn't kick much knowledge. I mean like I said, I love Big and Pac's music, but I just never learned nothing from them. All I learned was nothing but about the hood, and bitches, getting money. What about God. I mean maybe they talk about God a couple of times but not enough. I'm not saying be preachy, I'm just saying I wanted to learn something. Biggie talked about killing himself, and that's the worst sin you can commit. Like I said, don't get me wrong, but they were great lyricists, but I never learned anything from them. I already know about the hood. That's just the truth, I know alot may disagree, but that's just the truth, nobody never really learned about nothing, except about the hood. I mean maybe it's some songs I haven't heard where they were kicking knowledge, but from the songs I heard, all I heard was smoking weed, drinking, guns, killing, females. Honestly can anybody say that they learned something positive from them? Let's just be real. I mean Tupac had the momma song, I ain't mad at cha, but shit, that's only a few songs. Like I said, I mean no disrespect to Big and Pac, and may they rest in peace, but my point, was that I really didn't learn anything from them, especially something positive. I have heard more positive stuff in Rock and Roll songs than from Biggie or Pac. So in a positive manner of speaking, can they be considered the best of all time? My answer, no. What do ya'll think?
Listen to u all talking shit...Nas is the no.1 apart from Em..Hov knew this and try to stop Ether from being released. How could he be so shook to announce and let it slip that he was scared and wanted to stop it from coming out.Nas may have fallen a bit but who aint in hip hop??Every veteran has during their spell in the game.Jay fell when Nas finished him,the last two Em albums have been bshit,DMX Grand Champ didnt do him that much favors. So come on,no1 out there is better than Nas when it comes to story telling and rhyming....Simple as that!!
N-SITE
i must disagree with you about the beef shit.50 and g-unit is working with everyone except d-block, murder inc, terror squad swiss beat/cassidy.now look who is with g-unit
chamillionaire, the whole west coast except frow black wall, the entire south.please check the table, g-unit is only hated on these internet forums and when you goto the club or around the way it g-unit or dipset period.i forgot jay-z, ll cool j, now ciara want to work with 50.the niggas they beefin with what can they do for anyone?ok they could'nt even hel ja rule."rotten apple" is a hot album and 50 did not play a big part so i dont get your comment.50 is g-unit and banks understands that he is not ready yet to be the boss he only 24.50 gonna retire soon and buck starting is label and dont start rumors about him leavin he wanted it to be g-unit south but legal stuff with interscope.if you listen and keep your hears to the street you would know that 50 is backing buck 100% cause he aint like that bitch game.50 aint gonna rap forever he a business man.treat the rap game just like the corner,
I know someone who can rhyme they ass off and tell some crazy stories....JIN! Bring on the hate, i don't care cuz dude got some sick bars and crazy stories....I'm not talking about his RR album but the two he's released after that along with mixtapes.
@K-Rob, point taken, but I was more or less talking about how the industry and hip hop heads view G-Unit in general. I'm not a G-Unit hater. I like Banks and I am a former 50 fan, I didn't like the Massacre, but GRODT was classic I don't care what anyone says.
I'm just hoping for a non-G-Unit, 50, sing-songy release from MOP.
I'm out! Peace to all the REAL.
best rap song of the year is
"thank you" xzibit
that is classic song that should get some recognition!!
i rep g-unit because i like their music but am not biased to all artists.this song is truly nice.
i hope you guy go download it and state you opinions.
HIP HOP WILL ALWAYS BE ALIVE AS LONG AS THERE IS NEW YORK CITY.....SIMPLY BECAUSE RAP ISNT JUST MUSIC TO NEW YORK....IT IS OUR WAY OF LIFE EXCLUSIVELY!
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT ESCO IS SAYING...."HIP HOP IS DEAD"....AND HE MEANS JUST THAT...THAT QUOTE IS HIM BEING NOT WANTING TO OFFEND POTENTIAL RAP AUDIENCES AS A WHOLE
HIP HOP ISNT DYING.....EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THE SOUTH IS THE CAUSE FOR NAS EVEN SAYING THIS...LETS BE FOR REAL....DEEP DOWN PEOPLE HATE THE SOUTH FOR FUCKING UP SOMETHING VERY POWERFUL.....STRIPPING THE IMPORTANCE OF LYRICS FROM HIP HOP
HIP HOP ISNT GOING TO DIE, ESPECIALLY NOW SINCE EVERYONE WANTS TO SAVE THE SHIT.......THE SOUTH IS FINISHED THOUGH, NEVA TO BE HEARD FROM AGAIN IN RAP.
OBVIOUSLY WHEN RAP WAS THRIVING WE DIDNT KNOW AND UNDERSTAND WHAT WE HAD IN ORDER TO APPRECIATE IT.....SO IN SOME CASES THANK GOD FOR THE SOUTH MOVEMENT.....IT AWAKENED THE TRUE LOVE FOR HIP HOP AND I FEEL NOW IT WILL BE EVEN MORE POWERFUL
THE SOUTH IS OVA!
@k-rob
The people who work with 50 do so for publicity...also, if you aren't on his good graces he cuts off all help from dre. much like he did to game. The rappers that are working with 50 don't need to...its actually the other way around 50 needs that connection to platinum sellers like a cham or soon (though i think he can't rhyme) Lil' scrappy. the reason he needs that is because his artist are going double wood latetly
newsflash nimrod,
neither mc hammer or kane started hip hop, jackass. this theory that hip hop was started by kids is ridiculous. how old was grandmaster flash when he bust out with the message (dude wasn't a "kid"), what about cool herc? you see, hip hop wasn't created by whippersnappers ; whippersnappers just embrace it more than grown folks, period. Hip hoppers now more than ever shouldn't feel pressure to retire from rap because what are we talkin about? MUSIC, right? Niggas should only think retirement when they're audience outgrows them: i.e. Mobb Deep, Cam'ron, Mase, Busta, with others that I can't remember, now. Niggas like Nas and Jigga could probably rap forever because they grow WITH their audience. Right now, it's no integrity in hip hop. Everybody just lookin for a quick come up. It ain't about the music and it damn sure ain't about life (real life). It's all about spins, billboard, sounscan, cover shoots, diss records (not battlin'), movie roles, and clothing lines; but like my man in NATURAL BORN KILLERS (mick) said, "all that shit is manmade (media), but music is pure." Well, actually he said killin is pure, but you get the point.
WYO WYO WYO WYO!! ALL DAY EVERYDAY WYO!! SMASHIN YOU NY PUNKS / CHOPPIN UP BODIES, THROW THEM IN THE TRUNK / BULLETS RIPPIN THROUGH FLESH N LEAVIN OUT CHUNKS / SMOKIN ON GREEN THAT SMELL LIKE SKUNKS / COWBOY HAT WITH THE AIR DUNKS / YOU STILL AND MEDIATIN LIKE A MONK... STILL NOT GIVIN A FUCK!!! UUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHH WYO WYO WYO WYO WYO

scrappy hooked up with 50 on tour and they became friends same with freeway.i think most niggas in the industry actually fucks with 50.look at lil jon he dont need dre beats.and game got kicked by dre because he is disloyal and when dre told him stop the bullshit look what he did.85% of the west dont fuck with gam, but he the only platinum artist other than snoop, and snoop only fuck with him becuz he pushin that peace shit.the fact is nobody in the businee grew up together so everyone is affiliated for a reason."these industry niggas aint friends, they just know how to pretent" 50 cent.you said 50 needs connection with platinum seller? damn who sold more records than 50 cmon.this year only one rapper went platinum so far and thats T.I. all that snap shit we think is runnin shit is only radio spins.tony yayo outsold most southern artist.most artist been doing hot single and bullshit albums.i noticed that banks did the opposite, weak single and the album is fire.so we will see when the numbers drop because his album is really good
I don't know man....I'm from L.A. and to be honest you startin to see way more g-unot people than g-unit. and that one blood song is all over the place...people out here are backing game and leaning away from 50 cuz we see what he did as far as shittin on what the next man was doing (ja rule) and then turning around and doing it himself (not as good at it)
Interestingly, Lloyd Banks' new disc, 'Rotten Apple', may be one of G-Unit's most important releases in recent memory. The group's first run of the solo releases—50 Cent's 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin' and 'The Massacre', Banks' 'Hunger For More', Young Buck's 'Straight Outta Cashville', former member Game's 'The Documentary'—succeeded both among the streets and the billboards, helping give them credibility as the industry's new premier rap crew. But after duds by Tony Yayo and Mobb Deep failed to make waves with fans and critics alike, many are expecting the downfall of 50 Cent and company. With his sophomore set, Banks delivers a solid album that manages to pull the Unit out of its rut, but fails to break any new ground for Banks himself.
'Rotten Apple' is a standard, run-of-the-mill G-Unit release in many regards; but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Banks is still running through blocks, broads and shopping centers over G-Unit's glossy, top notch production, with plenty of witty punchlines and alluring hooks to boot. Banks is a highly capable MC—“Playboy 2†exhibits wordplay that competes with his early mixtape work, “Get Clapped†and “Stranger†shine as he spits murderous bars over venomous backdrops, and both “Help†and the 9th Wonder-laced “One Night Stand†are sure to satisfy the ladies with their smooth beats and Banks equally smooth rhymes. Also worth mentioning are the title track and “The Cake,†which each feature an invigorated 50 Cent spitting some of his hottest verses in years. The problem is, Banks doesn't do anything different at all this time around. Nothing's broken, so he doesn't want to fix it; this makes for an LP that's high in actual quality, but sparse in excitement and replay value.
whelming in their own right. “Addicted†aims to wax poetic about Banks' addiction to his neighborhood, but aside from the great Musiq Soulchild hook and an ill beat, not much seperates this from Banks' other hood tales. “You Know The Deal†is dope, but dismally misleads listeners with its “featuring Rakim†tag with a mere sample from the God MC instead of an actual verse. “Iceman†features solid cameo verses by Scarface, 8Ball and Young Buck, but a track with those three artists would've worked much better as a gutter down-the-line joint, which becomes evident upon hearing its insipid beat and worthless chorus.
Despite Rotten Apple's missteps, it's still evident that Banks is the most talented MC in his crew; but he seems too content with that. The disc's “stick to the script†attitude shows that Banks is more focused on playing his part on the team than building his own legacy. But every squad needs its role players, and Banks is a consistent starter.
COMMENTS:
Etheoryall says:
What would you expect as long as hes under the thumb of 50. His content will probably never change since most these rappers dont want to expand their verses past the glock and weed talk. Rap is losing right now. Lets bring it back. Fight for us!!
Nickybeats says:
I've heard most of the lp, and it is quite good. There is many mishaps though. The starter "rotten apple" track is a pretty bad intro track. Moving though the album it has many up, but more downs. It has to do with the production credit, 50 is screwing his artist out of good beats and giving them sh*t. 50 cent needed dre to overlook this lp, cuz it promotion wise sucked. Banks is a great artist, but he doesn't have that flare he used to. I will tomorrow oct.10th buy rotten apple just to support hiphop. But this needs to get better and quick. Where a dying breed as of now!
CrooklynNY says:
Best album of the year so far. Ny hip hop all the way!!
MeccaDon says:
This album looks like a great album. I am going to by it. I think lloyd banks and young buck are labled as "g-unit members" and not solo rappers. And it is hard to break from that mold. This record at the very least will go gold, i mean his first album sold 4 million copies. I don't think he will gain new fans or sell more then his debut. But lloyd banks is a good rapper no doubt, rotten apple 10-10-06.
blue hefner says:
Lloyd banks aka the boy wonder aka blue hefner is the most talented mc in the game right now ... Rotten apple !!!!!! rotten apple
Matches says:
This is a great review for lloyd banks album rottern apple except for the cover its noting special and banks could and should have done better promotion was not to good on this album i belive it will eventually go platinum but no way above due to lack of promotion and the overall drop of g-unit fans and also the fact hunger for more was a better album and it cant out sell dat banks will sell 150,000 - 200,000 in the first week..
fsc87 says:
Bout tyme but no matta what banks da best out of g unit it just gonna him 2 leave or have sum1 give the right mind set( content) 2 b really recognize
Mark says:
I have heard the album and i will reommend everyone to buy it because it is definately worth your money. It has two tracks you might want to skip but besides that, the album is straight fire. It is even better than "the hunger for more". So all i can say is "cop it". Support the boy wonder.

This album wasn't as great as everyone expected. I expected "iceman" to be the siccst song on there, it sucked because of it's whack ass beat, if it had a better beat, it would be much better. In my opinion, "the hunger for more" is much better, mostly because he had non-g-unit members in it such as bigg snoop dogg [new album nov. 21]. Best track is "ny ny" because of its brilliant eminem-produced beat and pretty good flows; tony yayo sucks overall, this is only one verse where he actually doesn't sound dumb like he usually does. Other ok/good songs: "gilmore's," "the cake," "hands up," and "you know the deal."

How lloyd banks claim u gonnna bring ny back when u dont even wanna meet the people of ny and sign there albums. Im cosigning R-Figgz its these fuckin wiggers that ruined hip hop!!!!
For the idiot that said all of G-unit and obie trice and proof were shot by Murder Inc, you obviously are in high school because kids like you spread rumors but never know what really happened, your on the outside circle, never in the mix so you say things to get yourself in the mix.
Number one it is true Irv had 50 shot but guess who came back and destroyed Irv?? if you got shot up i guarantee you wouldnt even think about comin out of the house let alone talkin shit again bout the people that shot you
Proof was shot inside of a club by a fellow highschool classmate that he always had beef with
Obie Trice was shot in the head over a road rage incident
So let me see, I guess when Cam got shot in DC that was Murder Inc too huh? Or how bout when Big L was killed i guess that was Murder Inc's fault too huh?? I guess Murder Inc killed Aaliyah by rigging her plane huh?? Or maybe Irv Gotti had Cassidy fucked up in that car crash huh???
When anybody reads your post it is obvious you have no intelligence on anything that has to do with hiphop and your just looking for an excuse to be accepted by friends for which you are so desperately looking for
Interestingly, Lloyd Banks' new disc, 'Rotten Apple', may be one of G-Unit's most important releases in recent memory.

Anotha thing tooo i went to his instore at fye on 51st and 6th ave in manhatten and lloyd signed autographs for 30 minutes and said he had to go and left before the time. How lloyd banks claim u gonnna bring ny back when u dont even wanna meet the people of ny and sign there albums. co-signing 110%
I understand what NAS is saying and I understand why he said it. This shit is bigger than what you think. What you're actually seeing is corporate america taking over the radiostations, record labels and hip-hop itself. In fact, hip-hop is a style of rap music. Since corporate america and politicians ran it through the mud, they decided to substitute the word hip-hop for rap (just gave you an example of my point). In the beginning, corporate america and big business didn't give a fuck about rap. In fact, they said it was wack, it wouldn't last and that it was a fad that would play itself out. Then they saw Russell Simmons, Suge Knight, P. Diddy, Master P and Baby become million-aires. Then they decided to put themselves into the mix. Not because they loved or cared about the music but because corporate america wanted the money that rap could make. They didn't give a fuck about the artists or the fans. Their whole state of mind is do whatever you need to do to make money and bring it back to me. That's why if you notice from earlier rap music, Niggas like Boogie Down Productions, X-Clan, NWA, Pac, Public Enemy, etc. rapped about what the fuck they felt like rapping about. Nowadays, niggas are rapping to try to get the fame that's offered by corporate america to ultimately get the money. Ya'll niggas just don't know, what you're listening to on the radio is controlled by corporate america. The videos you watch are controlled by corporate america. What artists gets to do a coke or pepsi commercial is controlled by corporate america. In fact, Bill O'Reilly, A white man, called Ludacris a Thug and got him kicked off of his Pepsi edorsement. Luda lost millions because a media spokesman who called him a Thug and a womanizer. Then pepsi got Ozzie Osborne's devil worshipping ass to replace him. Do you see what I mean? That's a lot of control for a bunch of white motherfuckers in business suites who don't give a fuck about rap music to control. If Pac was still alive, he'd be rapping about what happened with Katrina, this bullshit war Bush got us into, the rampant child molestation in this country and the racism that white people swear don't exist. Rappers of today are straying away from that shit because they are scared to take a true stand. Real Rap (real hip-hop) is about taking a stand. How can P. Diddy talk about "vote or die" but refuse to take a stand on what's right when it comes to our people. That's irresponsible. If you want to get people into politics you have to follow the track records of politicians and make them accountable. Voting is much more than pressing a button at the poll. There's too much shit that rappers need to be taking a stand on that there not doing. Don't give up on rap because that's our only voice. Where else can a nigga express himself freely and be respected for it? Rap is OURS, DON"T LET IT DIE. IF IT DOES I"MMA RESURRECT IT. SHO-TIME DA HOOD HUSTLA (2008).
TO THE SOUTH CATS, I REMEMBER WHEN YOU CATS WOULD TRY TO CHANGE YOUR WHOLE STYLE, BECAUSE IT WAS NOT COOL TO BE A COUNTRY ASS CAT. NOW THE GAME HAS TAUGHT PEOPLE TO BE PROUD AND REP WHERE YOU FROM, NOW IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE THE FUCK YOU FROM. UP NORTH CATS NOT HATING ON CATS FROM THE SOUTH. WE LOVE TO SEE CATS DOWN SOUTH SELLING RECORDS. THE ONLY CATS UP NORTH COMPLAINING IS THE CATS THAT SIGNED FUCKED UP CONTRACTS AND FUCKED THEIR MONEY UP. THAT'S WHY NAS AND JAY WILL ALWAYS BE FAVORITES BECAUSE THEIR CAREERS HAS BEEN GREAT AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE GREAT. THEY HAVE UNLIMITED POTENTIAL,I SEE BIG THINGS FOR THOSE GUYS, BOTH BUSINESS AND MUSIC. BE ASSURED JAY AND NAS WILL BE A MAJOR FACTOR IN THE SOUTH, THEM CATS LOVE THE SOUTH, IT'S BEEN GOOD TO THEM OVER THEIR CAREER. THEY GOT ROOTS THEIR. EVERY MAN WANNA BE THE CAT THE LAST THE LONGEST IN ANY HE MAY DO, NO MAN WANTS TO FALL THE FUCK OFF, BUT YOU AS A MAN ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT. WHAT HAPPENS TO A MAN IS BECAUSE THE MAN ALLOW IT.
SINCERELY
GOD'S CHILD
Nimrod stayed true to his name that guy is an idiot.
You have to look...If lovers of hiphop would keep their ears off the radio and actually go out and find the true hiphop shit it's there. There is nothing wrong with older hiphopers making hiphop music. People grew up with these guys so why wouldn't there be a market for them now...everybody who listened to them in the 90s could want to hear them again. To say that just because Nas is 33 he shouldn't be rappin is incredibly naive. STOP limiting hiphop. You don't see other icons in Rock, Country, and R&B getting ridiculed for their age alone...its ridiculous.
What people don't understand is that hiphop has to grow whether people like the direction is takes or not. Some people who grew up on Pac and Biggie don't like to hear older shit such as RunDMC or Public Enemy. These younger kids like this bullshit hiphop that is out right now, if this wasn't the case it wouldn't be selling therefore it wouldn't be on the radio therefore it wouldn't be around.
Hiphop started as a voice for the youth. At its (hiphop) start hiphop had a certain message that spoke to the youth of that time and addressed the issues relating to them. THINGS CHANGE. The youth today doesn't necessarily want to hear the same shit that the youth of the 70s 80s and 90s wanted to hear. RIGHTFULLY so. I'm not saying they should be hearing what they are hearing but who blames them they don't have the same needs, desires, and issues as those of past generations.
Hiphop isn't dead... "things done changed" Big
Fuck you Reckless for allowing this to happen but we're taking this shit back tomorrow. I'm calling that shit Judgement Day like a fucking Will Smith movie.
I'm heated and I'm out!

This is exactly why sometimes I try to steer clear of hip hop and it's listeners because motherfuckas be mad close minded for no reason.
FIrst of all, it's is a genre of MUSIC, it is NOT A CULTURE, just part of one.
What, so anyone who listens to hip hop has to be black and dress with baggy ass jeans or some shit? I know full punks who listen to hip hop, so what... they're stealing your "culture" because they simply like to listen to music?
I especially hate when people think some shit is "underground." If something is so underground, you wouldn't even know of it yourself, NOTHING is underground. If it's below level, then it's garbage pretty much, OR it's just not easily accessible.
After all these years, motherfuckas still don't know that anything that is popular will be marketed? I assume yall think it's white/upper class people that is marketing your "culture" but it's actually your own too, so damnit wake the fuck up, and stop acting like a bunch of bitches.
