My answer to that question was that she has absolutely no talent, and there's no reason to care. At the end of the day, her success can be connected by two things: Ghostwriting and sex.
MC Lyte -- one of the only femcees that actually has quite a bit of lyrical credibility, and not to mention a VH1 Hip-Hop Honor on her plate -- is well respected because of the path she chose to take as a means to securely acquiring a seat in a business plagued with testosterone. A few rap chicks have already swallowed more than enough Sprite cans, but taking a look at this quote wouldn't do them any damage, considering many of their careers are already in critical condition. Lyte said:

The thing about Queen Latifah is that she didn't write her own stuff. Everyone from Treach to Apache (yes "Gangsta Bitch" Apache) wrote for her so she falls into the same category as the rest of em except for the fact that she never played herself doing it by showing her tits and swallowing sprite cans. I'm not defending the war by no means however u have to understand 70% of the men and women who join the armed forces come from financially challenged households. Most of them are young and have families to provide for. And with little job experience and no college education the only way they can put food on the table is to join the army. If u haven't seen Farenheit 9/11 it shows that army recruiting is specifically targeted to the poor and under privelegded. And once these people do join they are brainwashed to believe what ever the govermnent says is right is always right.
I personally feel 80's MC's and 90's rappers from NYC need to stay in the game until these pimple faced, lost, wack generation of imitators get schooled properly on New York City Culture and Customs.
Too many immigrant kids that are now coming up in NYC are not really part of NYC, and they are diluting the legacy with their lack of thoroughness.
The Haitians for one seem to never get up to speed on NYC basics, and continue to think sasoon jeans and purple hair extensions are sexy!.
The Dominicans seem to have an identity crisis, they neglect the fact that they have haitian and african blood, and try to post high as if they were of pure Spanish castillian blood, and then they have the nerve to talk bad about other latin races like the Mexicans,Cubans, and Puerto Ricans, which gives dominicans a very bad look! .

They target minorities and the poor with promises of tax breaks, GI bills, cedit advantages etc but that why I say you should know better due to research. I knew about how corrupt the army was when they came to my high school back in the day so that's what I mean about knowledge and staying a step ahead. I read this blog all the and never post, however I must address this and a couple of other comments....
While it true ALOT of people who join the military come from underpriviledged circumstances, the reasons for serving are as diverse as the people serving.
As a retired veteran myself I can tell you first hand that no one I ever served with was brainwashed into believing anything!
America's leaders don't lie to this countries citizens any more than other countries leaders lie to their own citizens. I retired after 20 years in the Navy and proudly served my country to allow you and everybody else to have the freedoms that you enjoy. The same freedom that allows you to sit on this blog and voice your opinion of dissent without being hunted down and killed by your government for doing so.
When I enlisted 20 years ago I did so right out of high school because I didn't want to go to college and I didn't want to stay in NY and hang on the street corner like every other nigga was doing (and still doing today).
I went in, saw the world, got a free education, met life long friends, raised a family, went through Desert Storm and a few other Conflicts abroad and then retired and currently still work for the government.
Now, none of this would have been possible had I not served. Well it may have been possible, but I wouldn't have done it any other way.
Anyway, my point is, while we may not agree with everything "the government" told us, when we signed up, the orders you are given are not taken lightly or carried out blindly as you make it out to be. The caliber and character of people who decide to serve is beyond reproach and what you are trying to minimize it to based on Bush's actions.

I can never 4get how I took my daughter and a few of my nieces to a "community" event and the dj was playing uncensored rap. I was appalled. When talking to the intoxicated dj only resulted in me verbally tearing him out the frame...
I spoke to one of the organizers who did not appreciate my input. I told him that I would be writing a letter to the newspaper or calling the news letting them know what the politicians in the area was blasting. He went in2 this whole thing about because I didn't live in the area I had no clue. It was really ridiculous but I held my ground and they stopped playing certain songs.
I wrote a letter to the City Hall in that area and they called me but it was just the thought that grown men thought that was cool.
I'm not even going 2 speak on how the little girls were dancing...
