Can Fabolous' Forthcoming LP Finally Shake the For-the-Ladies Image?

After a quiet full year away from the mainstream, it looks like Loso is having it his way with a fourth full-length LP.
The Brooklyn MC's first and second albums, Ghetto Fabolous and Street Dreams, were the two platinum efforts that categorized his flow and put emphasis on his target audience: Mainly for the ladies. Many thought that since it worked for LL Fool J, that Fab would stick with the formula and continue catering to the shorties. But his third LP, Real Talk, led by the Just Blaze hard-core banger "Breathe," was intended to bring Fab's way an entirely different set of listeners.
Fab previously spoke of Real Talk:
"I'm out for my respect. I want to try to wake the people up this time. My last two records shaped this mold of me as the rapper for the ladies. I don't want to be looked at for just that. I want to be respected lyrically."
However, his follow-up single, "Baby," shattered whatever message he was trying to convey to the street audience, and his sales slowed down and stopped at gold status. Gold is good, but is most likely not what he had hoped for.
He rebounded on the street scene, however, with his mixtape Loso's Way: Rise to Power.
If he really wants to be respected as a "lyricist," (which I think he has a long way to go although some of his lines are clever -- not so much lyrical) this new album, which was originally slated for release in December but has since been pushed back to February of next year, will be his chance to show and prove. If he'd follow the street-orientated formula which was present in compiling the exceptional mixtape that was Loso's Way, then he might be good money. It might help to leave the for-the-honey tracks as a filler, and keep them to a minimum at that.
On a side note, some artists can pull both lyrical and for-the-ladies without being labeled "soft," but some don't have that privilege. If you want to be viewed as a lyricist, then stop with the lovey-dovey and start getting busy with the pen.

Fab always reminded me of Jay-Z. Great song writer, poor performer. He's guilty of making pop/r&b songs foremost therefore he lacks any edge. His career was cleverly crafted for radio play and commercial success. The fact he's working on a 4th album in this day and time says a lot. He's talented enough to go in any direction lyrically he wants, the question is will the fans accept him?
loso can do whatever i always liked him i kinda thought he was wasting his gift with all the for the ladies stuff but niggaz dont love hip hop like they used to so why not cater to them they buy all the records anyway. but i guarantee if he did come wit some lyrical shit he will still be successful plus he can afford to take a chance now 2 pplat and one gold gives you that privelige we have to wait and see.

He only made them songs 4 the ladies to reach a broader market bcuz if marketed his album for the fellas and his core audience he wouldn't make no money bcuz ni99as don't buy albums(women, white people and foreigners do). I am married and yes emotional infidelity is still cheating. My wife can read all of my emails and not take exception to any of them and in fact she reads all of them. When she ceases to have the ability to read them or I begin to lie about them, then that is when it becomes an inappropriate relationship.

I have not seen 1 blog other this 1 have a conscious off topic other than this one. We have folks from Chicago, NY, Detroit, Denver, Boston, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Atlanta, DC, Baltimore, Alabama, Florida and other places and we don't get in to any real territorial beefs.
We laugh all the fuckin time. We talk about the blog topic and off topics such as politics, religion, education, sports, psychology, sociolgy, economics and Black male-female relatioships, history, racism, gender issues and sex.
The women on here are real: KSH, SLim, NSITE, KARESS, NORIA, MS. Realist and the others that I missed....and they are real b/c they can hang with the best of us men. Sometimes they agree with us and sometimes they don't.
And they know how 2 back our asses up off of them when we are playing them close.
Our convos by far have the broadest range of convos bar no blog.
So while there is beef this is probably the only blog that at the end of the day a person can actually take something away of value.

Anyway, U make a good point. People seem to be disturbed by Halle’s sex scene. To be honest with U to this hour I have not seen Monster’s ball so I can’t comment on it but I do believe Halle Berry is an incredible actress. I found her work in Spike’s film as a crack head powerful and compelling.

Well the first thing I have to do is track down the Bitch ass homo Brooklyn nigga named L:eontae Jones and whupp his punk ass (you asked...lol) and then I am going to hop on a plane to come see U in the "Windy City"....
For-real Ma, I have some clients to meet with on Saturday and I am also going to put a lot time into working on my disseration. I have a son who will be 9 soon.
I grew up in BK and my mother never let me and my sibblings do the Halloween thing. I don't do it for my son either. However I have spoiled him rotten. He has his own flat screen TV, computer, 2 Game boys, 2 bikes ...all kinds of sneakers clothes and fitted caps...I pay for his private school tution, Karate lessons and swimming Lessons.
And I give him 200 dollars bi-weekly to buy whatever he wants but his mother supervises all that. I also have put 25 g's away for his college education.
He is a cool kid but I have spoled him.
I don't live with his mother or have a girlfriend-boyfriend relationship with her but she knows if she needs something I will get it for her...although when I did have a girlfriend she hated me giving her money beyond my son's needs.
Oh also, I am going 2 watch the Eagles play the Cowboys this weekend. That actually will be the highlight of my weekend although I am a Giants fan.
