Like I've said before -- and allow me to reiterate -- I respect Jay-Z and everything he has accomplished. But this is not the out-of-retirement showdown I expected from him. The new single, despite monstrous video spins and crazy radio play, is .... (crickets). And I'm not the only one who feels this way. Someone hit me up with his opinion on the New Hov:
"Ludacris is more than likely be the next dude 2 go platinum, and [you can compare it to everything else that came out] this year. It's no Reasonable Doubt or Illmatic like he claims it 2 be. There is no comparison...not with "Money Maker" as ur first single....no way. Jigga and Nas should go platinum (most likely Nas), even though I think Jigga's first single "Show Me What You Got" is a big disappointment.....comin from 'one of the best of all time.'Slump isn't the word. And "Show Me What You Got" is crazy in the club but it's not going to do anything out of the norm as far as bringing the focus back to where it needs to be. He could've done a lot better.
"You've been 'gone for 2 years' and this ["Show Me What You Got"] is what u come out with? Sometimes I think hip-hop heads give Jigga 2 much credit. If u were a hip-hop head and only heard Jigga's singles and never heard his albums, u wouldn't consider him 2 be one of the best. No disrespect but I think a lot of people overrate him. I mean "99 Problems" was good, but the first two singles before weren't that lyrical: "Change Clothes" and "Dirt off ur Shoulders" ...c'mon. He's good but not great. But despite the fact that Jigga's new record is average.....I don't think hip-hop is about to die, dyin, or dead already.....I think its in a slump."

Not too long after the release of one of the most slept-on albums of '06, it seems as if Ghosface Killah is still on his grind. According to Def Jam, Ghost is slated to drop a follow-up on December 26.
Fishscale was good guap, and I wouldn't mind a second half. However, with the way things have been going with the few, quality artists that are actally left at this moment in time, I won't believe it until I see it. I'll be waiting though.
Some of the few, however, need to just hang it up.
NOw...The first JAY single is still better than these young niggas HALF his age !! Why the Big Fuss?? Jay always drops the Club Banger First, Then Hood Joint and caps it off wit some Thoughtful shit !!..Jay is still that DUDE and CAME back to Prove it..NOw on to Ghost, DeF Jam plays mad games when it come to Album reslease. So i dont think we will see another CLASSIC ablum from Ghost this year...Remember Ghost is top 10 ALL-TIME !! I think dude got ABlums for YEARS !!!!
P.S...Go and cop that RANSOM Mix Tape !!!! pure Fiyah !!!!!
Bk all day..You already know !!!
First NIggas !!
Jay-z is is just being himself....

third then!
I liked the new Jay Z song. I love the beats and so does my 15 year old daughter, but even as a not so hard core rap fan I felt the lyrics weren't hitting on anything. But Jay never has moved around too much lyrically. He pretty much talks about the same thing all the time. The bling. Maybe a little about his hood. At least that's what all the songs he releases singles for are about. It's just more of the same except waaay less lyrics. The chorus (is that what they call it in rap?), no the hook seems to account for 75% of the song.
NEVER BEEN A JAY-Z FAN. I LIKED MAYBE 3 OR 4 SONGS BUT THAT'S IT. I'LL KEEP AN OPEN MIND BUT,I DON'T EXPECT TO CHANGE MY OPINION WITH THIS ONE.
GHOST'S LAST JOINT WAS OK, GOT OLD BY THE LAST FEW TRACKS. SOMEHOW I EXPECT THIS ONE TO NOT BE GOOD. I HOPE I'M PROVED WRONG.
The Nigga Jay-Z is gonna win the same way he always wins... by being slick. Somehow he'll be promoted as literally Michael Jordan/ Jay Hova coming back to breathe life into the game! He'll definitely go platinum, multi-platinum worldwide.!!
Ghostface Killah's Fishscale was crack! It's funny with all the drug music by Jeezy, Dip Set, G-Unit, T.I etc.. Ghostface's Fishscale isn't mentioned! That album was as gangsta as it gets! Combined with real Hip Hop.
I just hope Wu-Tang Clan returns.
I hate it when niggas be sayin Jay shit is better than every body else in the Game right now and I be thinkin like no he's not cuz Lupe flows is killin Jays flow real talk. So if u dont see that get Jays dick off your face and then u can see. A lot of times niggas dickride Jay like for Example Jay could make a song about taking a shit and Stans not fans would be like "Yo Bro have u heard dat new Jay song about him taking a shit man dat shit is off the hook Bro"
Look for Jay to go 1x plat and Ghost to sell 200k. Nas may fall just shy of the plat mark. As for Luda he's going gold.
None of my predictions are based on the quality of material. Instead they're based on who has the biggest impact with the trendy marketplace hip hop has tied its fate to.
Success in rap has little to do with lyrical skill and everything to do with the backing of the machine. For all the talk of success in the South I don't see any of those artists scoring successful endorsement deals on the level of Game, Snoop, 50, Jay-Z, etc.
If you really want to know who's winning in rap just watch for who Madison Ave gets behind.
o.k can i PLEASE ask yall a question how OLD is SHAWN "JAY-Z" CARTER cuz every since he got with BEYONCE the media been saying that he is 36 this nigga been with BEYONCE for about 4-5 YEARS and they stll saying that this nigga is 36 LOL dam did he reach 40 yet cuz it sure n the HELL LOOK LIKE IT
o.k can i PLEASE ask yall a question how OLD is SHAWN "JAY-Z" CARTER cuz every since he got with BEYONCE the media been saying that he is 36 this nigga been with BEYONCE for about 4-5 YEARS and they stll saying that this nigga is 36 LOL dam did he reach 40 yet cuz it sure n the HELL LOOK LIKE IT
I AM THUS FAR! "SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT" WAS HOT! "KINGDOM COME" WAS OKAY! JAY-Z IS WORKING WITH DRE, JUST BLAZE, SWIZZ BEATZ, TIMBALAND AND OTHERS. IT'S HARD TO GO WRONG WITH THIS LINE-UP OF PRODUCERS! MORE IMPORTANTLY, JAY-Z IS HUNGRY AGAIN! HE'S DEFINATELY GOING TO HURT DOJA'S SALES!
o.k can i PLEASE ask yall a question how OLD is SHAWN "JAY-Z" CARTER cuz every since he got with BEYONCE the media been saying that he is 36 this nigga been with BEYONCE for about 4-5 YEARS and they stll saying that this nigga is 36 LOL dam did he reach 40 yet cuz it sure n the HELL LOOK LIKE IT
jay was born on the 4th of december 1969 which would make him 36yrs 10months
And "Show Me What You Got," is crazy in the club
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^this is exactly the reason why he made the song.if dont like jigga,u can always listen to and discuss the artists that u think are better!!!
Hov dropped subpar shit before and nobody was cryin then, why the all of a sudden shift now? This is the same nigga who made an ENTIRE genration of wanna be MCs pick apart his swagger and copy his whole steez, from the tilted fitteds and hand gestures to the button up shirts. When he turned 30 the nigga said call me 'young hov' now every other snot nosed nigga says the same shit or names himself young whatever...lets not forget the ad-libs "yessss", "its ya boy" or the favorite "....in the building". Lets also not forget how magically no nigga writes rhymes down no more, no matter where hes from...yeah.
The problem is the trend riders been copying off each other for so fuckin long, and everybody been biting off jay, that when jay him-self comes out of retirement and drops what sounds exactly like an average jay mixtape type track, doing what he been doing, niggas start complaining cause they forgot where it all started, now JAY sounds like hes bitin off himself!?!Its not like the quality of music is any better, or any nigga out RIGHT NOW is forcing the nigga to up his lyrical game. Aint one young nigga ready to snatch his fuckin throne let alone step up no matter who says what or they would have tried it already, closest to it is jim jones, and that shit is like suicide, so it dont even count. Niggas nowadays really aint built to MC, their here to run their mouth and make quick money doing club jingles and shit. yeah jay does that shit too like any nigga in the game, but like the nigga said "pound 4 pound Im the best to ever come around here, excluding nobody, look what I embody"...I mean really, niggas just stopped arguing about jay/nas like a fuckin year ago, now nobody wants to hear about NO new york niggas period, good or bad. Ya'll and the trends man...soon it will be cool to be from Mexico or some shit, then what would you all do?
In the meantime...

I aint got nothin but respect for Jay but just like you said in the article homie, i think people givin him too much credit just from bein jay z. When somebody tells me what the hell he mean by wave in the chorus then the single will be aight to me. The verses killin shit tho, ya'll already know this, but if this was any other rapper ESPECIALLY from the south, half of you people would be like what the fuck is he talkin about in the chorus, just like i am. Other than that its all good.
now a days...im having a hard time picking my fav...it was always nas!
but jay put out more music!
i use to say i listen to jay when nas not out. but nas be out for a minute!!
and that jay-z song "kingdom come" is soooooooooo hot!
nas?
where you at???
People crack me up wit this complainin...If yall really dont like dont listen...Yall act like its a crime for this man to release a club single...and a damn good one for that matter...People act like this is chicken noodle soup or somethin...Its a hot record...its clearly not to be introspective...Pac released club records....as did Big...I mean really compare this track to Hypnotize...Big wasnt sayin nothin either but he was just havin fun...Dudes really be hatin...Luda track is called Money Maker what he sayin in it...Like damn...Hov be sayin some real ish in it...nah he not gettin introspective but you can respect what he sayin...take the track for what it is and chill...its not that serious...its just a club single...He cant do that now?
Jigga and Nas should go platinum (most likely Nas)
^^^^^^^^is that a joke or are u new to the worst rap album in the history of rap but he will still sell more than nas.get my sales side of things??50 cent can drop the point?????
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^is that a joke or are u new to the sales side of things??some rappers could still drop the worst albums in the history of rap and still outsell nas.!!!!!
Huey what's up? You from Chi-town right?
@Reckless:
How can you ask a dumb question like are we satisfied with Hov's comeback before any of us has even heard the album?...Show Me What You Got aint for the real hip hop heads, it's for the clubs and apparently it's doing it's job...Kingdom Come is fucking fire! The lyrics on that shit are crazy...
There's nothing new going on here...Same formula, Club joint and Street banger...'Change Clothes' was wack but "What more can I say" was fucking crack...Same formula. Wait for the album before you decide whether you're satisfied with it or not...
I was listening 2 the stans "favorite" cd "Food & Liquor" over the weekend, and I don't know if it's just me, but Lupe sounds like Hov, just with some deep intelligent shit 2 talk about, givin' U stans headaches, go pick up a book.

--------------
Jay Z is the executive producer of "Food and Liquor" so that might be a slight reason why. Seems like Hov is dropping the ball on projects not even on Def Jam. The album, although different, is not all that and Lupe is nice on the mic but dude is quite boring. I figure more work should have been put into it but I hear some people say that the "pre-leak" album was a lot better than the one he put out.
ALSO, WHEN JAY-Z SALES 1 MIL THE 1ST WEEK, THERE WILL BE NOTHING THAT YOU CAN SAY ABOUT IT! THIS IS THE MUSIC BUSINESS. YOUR IN THE BUSINESS OF SELLING MUSIC! SAYING IT'S NOT ABOUT THE SALES IS LIKE A RUNNING BACK SAYING IT'S NOT ABOUT HOW MANY YARDS I RUSH FOR. DO YOU THINK THAT LUPE FIASCO IS HAPPY WITH HIS SALES? ALSO, I'M TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT WU-TANG! THEM DUDES HAVE BEEN WASHED UP FOR 10 YEARS.
I think people just got they hopes up to high. Jay-z dropped a grown and sexy club joint which i think is EXTREMELY age appropriate for him, with the live instruments and limited curse words. He not sayin no profound shit lyrically, but it's not like u payin attention to that when u "hands up and wave".
Anyone notice it's somethin like what Beyonce's been droppin lately, with the live band feel?
All these old NY niggas like ghostface need to take notes.
jigga shit is wack. iwas expecting better.. jim jones shit is crazy right now. stay on your gring cuz...Ballin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ghostface Killah is the most overrated mc ever. This guys CD's are weird as fuck. Wu is still the shit
stop paying attention to singles. most songs that get played on the radio are the worst songs artists make, and fucking idiots make their oppinion on an artists based on the songs on the radio. TURN YOUR FUCKING RADIO OFF.
"show me what you got" isnt that bad, the lyrics tell how it is. Start listening bitches.

Not for nothing but "Change Clothes" had niggaz trading in their hoodies and Carrharts for a Ryan Kenny button up. That song served its purpose although I wouldn't call it one of his best. Jay is a trendsetter and has been for the longest. He had the whole race wasting their child support on expensive champagne and telling them that the 4.0 wasn't enough ( its funny how "grown ups" pick fucked up role models but we blame all our problems on the youth).

DId you see that cabrini green project video?
Jay-Z albums are like jordan sneakers, They sell no matter how wack they are....The beat is Krazy, but thats about it...Kingdom Come is a hot track...
Jay-Z is taking Hip hop to a higher level and people love to hate on that. He is the best, point blank. Of course Nas and Jay will go plat. It would be stupid "as the writer of this blog is" to think that they wouldnt. Let this black man take this to a higher level, the rest of these stupid hood niggas that make black people look bad, just keep complaining. Hov has grown up, maybe the rest of you should as well!

Hate does not equal opinion. If there's a opinion given with question of whether that feeling is valid that makes this a forum; which is what this is, the exchange of ideas. I ain't feelin 50 or Jay either or Hip Hop in general right now. It's real synthetic. People need to speak on the real. Not everyone is dipped in ice or a glock toater.
Once and for all, Jigga is 36, I repeat 36... His B-day id December 4th... he'll be 37 in two months....dead those rumors that he's 42 and shit... fuckin Dipset stans believe what Cam said in that diss... its garbage, he's 36 and he is the G.O.A.T. and the new single is hot the album gon be hot and he gon stay hot (no Jim Jones)

LMAOOOOO!!!
I like Jay's song for what it's worth. It is a banging song - but hip hop it is not. It is just a dance song and I can dig that. I like that he is all over the Bud Select commericials and all over ESPN - Jay ain't worrying about no hip hop right now. He is commercializing and that's it.
Last night the 50/Em joint debut on Fox Sports - it's a cool joint. It is worth a lsiten. So these artist are following the $$$$$$. No harm no foul. Just don't try to fool me into thinking is hip hop - I know commercial when I see it!
With all the ill shit goin on in the world today Jay chooses to do this glitzy, glamy, spent way too much type bullshit.
Nas already won in that case.
I wish these dudes would kick some monumental uplifting type shit.
Am I asking for too much??

True...The nigga had people trading in their X5s...He called them shits baby mommas trucks and niggas went from thinking they was fly for having them to being embarassed to pull up in one...The shit is crazy...that is the black man's mentality...Its sad
@ Huey
Ok I didn't realize the movement still strong out there. You ever peep the Spook who sat by the door?
You idiots are so fucking stupid
DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS YOU WANT? REALLY?
So where's your copy of Lupe's album? Oh, you dont like that.
Well, then where's your Fishscale?
Exactly.
Hov drops single, it goes crazy in the clubs. NOT JUST our clubs, every club. SMART MOVE.
Then your punkass will cop the album and say oh its better than I thought, but its too all over the place.
Well Jordan didn't take 6 rings by just shooting and dunking, theres passing, defense, rebounding, all sorts of ingredients that make the shit what it is.
Just ask yourselves, what exactly are you expecting from HOV? You dont even know.
What is it that your looking for? You have no fucking clue, dont you?!
You idiots are hilarious.
Get off Hov's dick, this track wasn't for you, and by the way, it is a good track, just like Change Clothes was, but it wasn't Moment of Clarity, it wasn't 99 Problems, it was there to serve its purpose.
Kills me how a bunch of broke ass niggas wanna talk about this man's business. A bunch of gas can swinging, finger snapping shoulder leaners wanna talk about music quality.
Get da fuck out of here.
First off this first single from jay is what it is, "TRASH". For a dude that is suppose to bring New York hiphop back he is doing what he normally does, which is take the light all for himself and still keep it in the club where it's been for too long .Hopefully he is doing the right thing and trying to shed light on the rest of the label and not just himself. They got so much talent over at defjam that need to shine. Far as Ghost he might drop if this whole defjam thing is really bout to become the powerhouse that we think it could be,But if it was up to me I would wait till after the Martin/Malcolm thing to try to drop.1
I wish these dudes would kick some monumental uplifting type shit.
Am I asking for too much??
Posted by: Essex at October 23, 2006 09:38 AM
You not asking for too much, everyone is asking for the same thing. Problem is will the revolution be finished or will everyone drop their picket signs and guns and stop doing revolutionary music when the first influencial leader gets sniped.
After watching the video again, I must say, Yall are some fucking idiots
What up Big Sun...MC's stop kicking revolutionary rhymes because the people stopped wanting to hear them...If Jay or 50 decided to start kicking some revolutionary shit niggas would immediately label them backpack rappers and stop listening to them too...
The best you can hope for is that these niggas try to slip in a little knowledge in between all of the party and bullshit...It seems thats what NAS trys to do...(ie 'I know I can')
Know what Im saying?
Can Somebody tell me how Jay Z changed the game back in the day or how he's bringing hip hop back what flow do he have either he rap fast or rap slow like nas taught him. Which Album gave him the goat title? I mean they all were kind of wack to me couple hot songs off each. Somebody just let me know.

Hip hop is hip hop regardless of how commercial it is. This is a whole new age of media and anything relevant will be "commercial". Hip Hop as a whole is commercial. Its a multi-bullion dollar industry and you can't be a famous rapper without becoming commercial.

You can't be serious..... !!!!
Everyone good morning! Peace to the real, the Gods and the ladies!
I'm a Jigga fan. I don't apologize for it nor do I have to. I'm copping his shit and I do like what I've heard so far. I received a best of Jay mixtape a few years ago from my mixtape homey. The entire catalogue was sick and the amount of trends that started from his mouth is amazing. Besides, he received his endorsement from Frank White himself.
I don't think it's cool to sit back and judge an incomplete picture. I think it's not cool at all. Jay deserves the benefit of the doubt for just being hot for so long. The only mc's that can fuck with his catalogue that are still in the game right now are Cube, Nas, Em. No one else. I already have Cube, I'm copping the rest and I don't care whether it's a little sub par, I know that at least 4 of the joints on that shit will be hotter than hell. That's enough for me.
@ BLAZEMCHERBS
What up! Havent seen you on here in FOREVER!
But in true DICKRIDIN fashion you come on here defending JAY like he's your boyfriend....I never understood that about your post...U GET DEFENSIVE as hell when it comes to your boo-boo JAY
I know you'll probably respond with all kindz of cuss-words but really, i'm just making an observation.
THA KING HAS SPOKEN!
@ black Friday
I can understand you rational, but I don't agree. I think that If Jay started saying fuck the government and talking about the real shit going on people would be like FINALLY!!! Think about it like this Malcom X was Detroit Red in his un-reformed state then He became malik El haj Shabazz he was changing the game as he changed eventually. Jay garners so much attention and influence that he could trick the people into becoming more positive or revolutionary. I think the problem would be that it is what it is and not fad. That's the real problem he's been selling unreal shit for so long hopefully Nas will have more influence on him to not forget the people who can't afford the shit that he complains about ie. the g4 being late.
What album is better than We are the streets? Get rich or die tryin?(off top head) I mean I can play them all the way thru banger after banger. Do Jay ever make you hit the Rewind button say like Fab? real slick talk! NOAnd was the blueprint really a classic Helllllllllll NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Yeah that's what I mean. Why is everyone including Jay playing the violin strings about bringing hip hop back when you are not doing anything any different than the young'uns. Of course you wanna make money and have mass appeal - JUST SAY THAT! Stop acting like you are doing us a favor b/c I am already over it. People get commercial and then there message starts to change more and more and rightfully so. But don't act like you a down ass nicca and you are coming out of retirement for my benefit - negro you are doing that shit to MAKE more and more and more money. Just say "I wanna be a Black Billionare" - the shit is simple. I have no hate for Jay - I love the man but when they start preaching about hip hop is dying then you come out saying nothing then I am like be real with me! Don't try to play the hip hop card the get my attention.

So true, I remember hearing T.I was on the O.C. and Lupe played on that show One Tree Hill.
My bad on the typo El Haj Malik Shabazz
Ludacris is the best rapper. Fuck Gay-Z! He has no lyrical talent! Forget that Joe Camel lyric bitin overrated ass!!! He sucks!
man jay-z has alwasy dropped club singles 1st. i mean he dropped change clothes b4 that he dropped me and my girlfriend then h 2 the izzo then give it 2 me he always dropped the song for the clubs thats how u make yo money. i mean people are actin like jay just went soft he been doin this for years and hasnt went anything less than 3 times platinum. he puts out singles that white people and black people will love so that white people will go buy his shit 2. As much as you dumb people want rap 2 be so hood all the time forgets that its a business 2. You can't ask a man to do something he doesn't believe in. Revolutionaries arent' made... they are born. It would be worse if the nigga tried to be something he is not. That goes against the hip hop code totally. Jay is obviously a business man and there is nothing wrong with that as long as his business aspirations don't bring the culture a black eye. Some cats do just want to get paid and I don't see anything wrong withthat because the only reason why I go to work is to... gues what.... get paid and pay them bills. Sometimes we give these artist too much credit, as if their celebrity take them to another level of being. Jay is human just like everybody else and I don't see a problem with dude just because he doesn't want to follow in Malcolm X footsteps.
Before this reaches 800 or more posts, I just wanted to chime in right quick.
Two leaked songs mean nothing for the quality of the album (BTW, Kindgom Come is nasty). We can't say dude's finished until we see his whole hand. "Show Me" is what it is-a club, car system banger along the same lines of what he's dropped nearly every summer since he's been around. I hated the song initally but it grew on me just for the Just Blaze track. And although it's Jay bragging about what he's working with and how he's living (nothing different), the track is not like anything out, no sped up sample, no screwed up hook, no singing by an R&B chick, just some feel good shit.
I have heard a couple of people say it's not hip hop.
Wow.
Live instruments, telling your crowd what to do, uptempo sound is the essence of hip hop. Sure I would love to hear Jay rip a Premo beat but would that get more people in the store or would this? And it's crazy because the single did exactly what it was intended to do, make niggas want to hear if he still has it.
Had that been any other nigga we'd be saying "that shit's alright", but he set the bar so high that we HATE on shit he puts out that most of these MCs can't do. Let's wait until Nov 22 (the day after) before we throw dirt on the nigga's grave.
and the title of this blog is stupid anyway his cd isnt even out yet. we been judging his comeback since he said he was retiring. And u cant say he has been promoting hisself over nas thats far from the truth i been reading about jay-z comeback albums since he retired we people who come to these websites have been promoting his album. so why are you even posting a topic for a single. post this a month after his album comes out cuz thats when all u slow mefffers are gonna get what he be talkin bout anyway.
"What up Big Sun...MC's stop kicking revolutionary rhymes because the people stopped wanting to hear them..."
I don't think it's that simple. A lot of hip hoppers during the conscious rap era grew up. Some stayed with the genre, some moved on to more adult contemporary music. There is a lane for the revolution but I think a lot of 30 somethings are raising their kids off of a lot of the principles they gained from conscious rap. The highest concentration of voters in recent elections have been the black youth. I think it's a trend that is promising for our future. The oppressor usually gives us a little window to step through every once in awhile. Sometimes we bust thru, other times we don't know how to take advantage. My hope is that these kids that are utilizing their rights to vote, education and financial empowerment don't get older and fall into the same traps that a lot of us did when we were in our formative years.
So true, I remember hearing T.I was on the O.C. and Lupe played on that show One Tree Hill.
Posted by: Mega One at October 23, 2006 10:07 AM
Much luv! And that is what you do. Do you and stop trying to ride the "Hip Hop is Dying Bandwagon" - Lupe never said that hip hop was dying he just said he was different. TI picked his lane and stayed in it. He likes to rhyme and he likes to make money. But when you start preaching about hip hop dying then people expect you to do something different when in actuality you are not dong anything different you are just doing it better - I like Jay's new single after I have it 2 or 3 listens. Great dance song for me and great exercise song. The arrangement is sick. Just be Jay and shut the fuck up! Jay got Jordan status so negro you don't have to tap dance for me cause I will buy your shit anyway. Shut up and "Show me what you got"
I agree that revolutionaries aren't born, but you've got to also admit that he wants to be that person but is afraid. He would rather sell you down the river as a head master than loose his position and be a slave like you. Hence the drug- braggart rap. That shit ain't reality for the streets. I'm from BK and I can tell you straight up and down he's lost a Lot of fans behind continuing to rhyme abotu the same shit. Nigga progress don't they?

I'm referring to absolute legends in the game from coast to coast, not just regional. Sure Scarface and UGK have great pedigrees, but outside of a pure hip hop head, these guys never come out of a suburban white kids mouth. In some cases, unless your partner or you were deeply into hip hop you never associated these names when asked about rap music.
Don't get me wrong. I'm a fan of all of them, especially Brad Jordan. But, over time these others have reached another level in commercial appeal. That is what I mean by those few names I mentioned being the only ones that can match Jay's profile. Those guys are also consistently hot everywhere, not just with true hip hop fans.
WHAT DID NGZ EXPECT
I actually don't have a problem with Jay this time around
Why cause what did you expect!
WHAT DID NGZ EXPECT!
I don't care for Jay at all but I respect him and even I give him a pass.
Ngz coming out of a so called retirement
he's going to play it safe number 1
Next his objective is and has been since in my lifetime vol 2 to sell records which is what the lead single is aimed at.
What da fk did you expect?
Of course he was gonna drop a club banger.
You want the president of Def Jam who sits behind a desk, just finished bumpin elbows wit Bill Gates opened another 40/40 club who now has to be more conscious about his image then ever before, and has Beyonce as his girl to drop a street banger
negro are yall stupid!
Have you seen his Ibm commericial the days of him droppin that street sht are long gone. On the other hand I do embrace him not fronting and keeping it moving on some more grown up sht.
But seriously
DA FUCK DID YALL EXPECT!
Doesn't this single pick right up where Change clothes and excuse me miss and frontin left off
its the same swagger
it took awhile but it grew on me
I not really feeling him being sponsered by budweiser though because some many kids look up to him.
He's on his grown up sht. And their gonna try to follow his lead cause he's what's hot right now. Same way he had ngz in the streets rocking button ups all of a sudden.
but other than that the song is cool
do love it but don't hate it niether
Its What I expected
Some rappers don't even have that revolutionary mindstate anymore. Rapping when you have never left your projects is different from rapping after you've been around the world. The canvas for NAS is not the same now as it was before. He isn't looking out his "project windows" anymore. Its about growth and how can you grow when your brain is still stuck on your block ? The NYC landscape isn't even the same as it was 10 years ago so you can't expect that same kind of influence on new music. This is why "old" rappers get played out because they end up not relating to the buying public. Being relevant is the most important part of music and you can't be talking about shit that is 7 or 8 years removed from the mainstream.
Jay-Z is hustler who been on it a minute/ Tha type that make moe dough than he need/ But still won't spend it/ Rap style is splendid/ The game he could end it/ Battle rap anybody and leave they career suspended/ He can make a hit for tha club/ Dummies thats how that's money gets makin'/ Then you buy his cd and see why he's hotter than bacon/ Please don't bite tha hand/ That feeds you hits for a generation/ Mad cause he's doin beyonce/ And vacations to foreign destinations/ This htownmike tellin' haters to jump of his nuts/ Ya'll couldn't walk an inch in his shoes/ Ain't got tha smarts or tha guts.
Easy F:
What good ex hubby? We can be corgial right? Yeah that's what I thought :-)
Banga!:
What's good? Long time...
And I was expecting the same thing - I did not expect him to be claiming coming out of retirement to save hip hop. Just do you and keep it moving; stop with the sermon - "whatcha bout to do? - Nothing"

All I want is a message, Something I can listen to and feel a sense of pride.
K.R.S. used to do that with his music.
What happened to that element.

He's ost fans because he has taken himself to another level that they can understand. People see him waling around with Japenese businessmen in suit and the first thought is that he is selling out but they don't understand the business side of the man. Its all about relating and when you grow, you leave behind some people that don't understand. I understand. We can't lose sight that this is the music BUSINESS. He might have lost 5,000 fans in BK but he added about 100K in the UK...
Where does that weigh on a scale with him. He know the game. He knows that the same niggaz that were copping JA Rule albums ended up shitting on him for 50 2 years later. Fans will come and go and so will their money so you are always in the mode of re-inventing yourself to add fans.

How can you say Jigga's single is wack..then whats hot Young Joc, Fat Joe, there is no more good music coming out Jigga's word play and delivery on this new record is incredible...
I'm a Jay fan to the fullest, but Show Me What You Got is hot garbage on a Sunday afternoon. Everybody knows that Jay's singles are radio friendly, but he tends to deliver on his albums. I don't know yet, I might just have to sit and wait on this one.

Why I Gave Up On Hip-Hop
By Lonnae O'Neal Parker
Sunday, October 15, 2006; Page B01
My 12-year-old daughter, Sydney, and I were in the car not long ago when she turned the radio to a popular urban contemporary station. An unapproved station. A station that might play rap music. "No way, Syd, you know better," I said, so Sydney changed the station, then pouted.
"Mommy, can I just say something?" she asked. "You think every time you hear a black guy's voice it's automatically going to be something bad. Are you against hip-hop?"
Her words slapped me in the face. In a sense, she was right. I haven't listened to radio hip-hop for years. I have no clue who is topping the charts and I can't name a single rap song in play.
But I swear it hasn't always been that way.
My daughter can't know that hip-hop and I have loved harder and fallen out further than I have with any man I've ever known.
That my decision to end our love affair had come only after years of disappointment and punishing abuse. After I could no longer nod my head to the misogyny or keep time to the vapid materialism of another rap song. After I could no longer sacrifice my self-esteem or that of my two daughters on an altar of dope beats and tight rhymes.
No, darling, I'm not anti-hip-hop, I told her. And it's true, I still love hip-hop. It's just that our relationship has gotten very complicated.
When those of us who grew up with rap saw signs that it was turning ugly, we turned away. We premised our denial on a sort of good-black-girl exceptionalism: They came for the skeezers but I didn't speak up because I'm no skeezer, they came for the freaks, but I said nothing because I'm not a freak. They came for the bitches and the hos and the tricks. And by the time we realized they were talking about bitches from 8 to 80, our daughters and our mommas and their own damn mommas, rap music had earned the imprimatur of MTV and Martha Stewart and even the Pillsbury Doughboy.
And sometimes it can seem like now, there is nobody left who is willing to speak up.
I remember the day hip-hop found me. The year was 1979 and although "Rapper's Delight" wasn't the first rap song, it was the first rap song to make it all the way from the South Bronx to Hazel Crest, Ill.
I was 12, the same age my oldest daughter is now, when hip-hop began to shape my politics and perceptions and aesthetics. It gave me a meter for my thoughts and bent my mind toward metaphor and rhyme. I couldn't sing a lick, but didn't hip-hop give me the beginnings of a voice. About the time that rap music hit Hazel Crest, all the black kids sat in the front of my school bus, all the white kids sat in back, and the loudest of each often argued about what we were going to listen to on the bus radio or boombox. Music was code for turf and race in the middle-class, mostly-white-but-heading-black suburbs south of Chicago.
One day, our bus driver tried to defuse tensions by disallowing both. Left without music, some of the black kids started singing "Rapper's Delight." Within a couple of lines, we all joined in:
Now what you hear is not a test
I'm rappin' to the beat.
Then the white kids started chanting: Dis-co sucks, dis-co sucks, dis-co sucks, dis-co sucks , repeating the white-backlash, anti-rap mantra of the era.
The white kids got louder: DIS-CO SUCKS, DIS-CO SUCKS, DIS-CO SUCKS, DIS-CO SUCKS.
So we got louder, too:
YA SEE, I AM WONDER MIKE AND I LIKE TO SAY HELLO
TO THE BLACK, TO THE WHITE, THE RED AND THE BROWN
THE PURPLE AND YELLOW.
Then the white kids started yelling until their faces suffused with color.
And so we started yelling rhymes that I still know to this day, some of which my kids know and, I bet, so do some of the kids of those white kids who screamed at us from the back of my junior high school bus, raging against change, raging against black people, or, who knows, maybe just not appreciating our musical stylings.
SO I RAPPED TO THE BEAT LIKE I NEVER DID BEFORE.
We rhymed and the white kids disappeared before our eyes because we were in another world -- transported by the collective sound of our own raised voices, transfixed by our newfound ability to drown out their nullification.
We felt ourselves united, with the power of a language we didn't begin to understand. "Rap at its best can refashion the world -- or at least the way we see it -- and shape it in our own image," said Adam Bradley, a literature professor at Claremont McKenna College who is working on a book about hip-hop poetics. It has the capacity "to give a voice that's distinctively our own and to do it with the kind of confidence and force we might not otherwise have."
I grew older, and my love affair with the music, swagger and semiotics of hip-hop continued. There was Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel and the seminal Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five:
Don't push me 'cause I'm close to the edge
I'm tryin' not to lose my head.
I learned all the rhymes played on black radio, because do you remember when MTV wouldn't touch black music at all? I got to college and started getting my beats underground, which is where I stayed to find my hip-hop treasures. Public Enemy rapped "Fight the Power" and it could have been the soundtrack to CNN footage of Tiananmen Square or the fall of the Berlin Wall:
Got to give us what we want
Gotta give us what we need
Our freedom of speech is freedom or death
We got to fight the powers that be.
I was young and hungry and hip-hop was smart, and like Neneh Cherry said, we were raw like sushi back then, sensing we were onto something big, not realizing how easily it could get away from us.
* * *
Of course, the rhymes were sexy, too, part of a long black tradition starting with the post-emancipation blues. It was music that borrowed empathy and passion from exultations of the sacred, to try to score a bit of heaven in secular places.
It was college, and in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the post-civil rights, post-sexual revolution, newly grown hip-hop generation imagined that we had shed our momma's chastity-equals-black-uplift strictures anyway. So when MC Lyte rapped, "I ain't afraid of the sweat," well, you know, we waved our hands in the air. Besides, it was underground music, adult music, part of a wide range of expression, and it's not like we worried that it could ever show up on the radio.
Hip-hop was still largely about the break-beat and dance moves and brothers who battled solely on wax. It was Whodini, Eric B. & Rakim, Dana Dane, EPMD, A Tribe Called Quest. And always and forever, Lonnae Loves Cool James. I knew all LL Cool J's b-sides and used to sleep under a poster of him that hung on my wall. I still have a picture of the two of us that was taken one Howard homecoming weekend.
And if, gradually, we noticed a trend, more violence, more misogyny, more materialism, more hostile sexual stereotyping, a general constricting of subject matter, for a very long time we let it slide.
In 1988, EPMD rapped about a woman named Jane:
So PMD (Yo?) Why don't you do me a favor?
Chill with the bitch and I'll hook you up later
She's fly, haircut like Anita Baker
Looked up and down and said "Hmm, I'll take her."
But by last spring, it was Atlanta-based rapper T.I.:
I ain't hangin' with my niggaz
Pullin' no triggaz
I'll be back to the trap, but for now
I'm chillin' with my bitch today, I'm chillin' with my bitch today.
Nearly 20 years later and T.I. can't even be bothered to give his "bitch" a name.
We were so happy black men were speaking their truth, "we've gone too long without challenging them," as Danyel Smith, former editor of Vibe magazine, put it. And now, perhaps, hip-hop is too far gone.
* * *
At the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, rappers Snoop Doggy Dog and 50 Cent embellished their performance of the song "P.I.M.P." by featuring black women on leashes being walked onstage. This past August, MTV2 aired an episode of the cartoon "Where My Dogs At," which had Snoop again leading two black bikini-clad women around on leashes. They squatted on their hands and knees, scratched themselves and defecated.
The president of the network, a black woman, defended this as satire.
Hip-hop had long since gone mainstream and commercial. It was Diddy, white linen suits and Cristal champagne in the Hamptons. And it was for white suburban boys as well as black club kids. And it now promoted a sexual aesthetic, a certain body type, a certain look. Southern rappers had even popularized a kind of strip-club rap making black women indistinguishable from strippers.
I don't know the day things changed for me. When the music began to seem so obviously divorced from any truth and, just as unforgivably, devoid of most creativity. I don't know when my love turned to contempt and my contempt to fury. Maybe it happened as my children got older and I longed for music that would speak to them the way hip-hop had once spoken to me.
Maybe as the coolest black boys kept getting shot on the streets while the coolest rappers droned: AK-47 now nigga, stop that.
Maybe as the madness made me want to holler back: "Niggas" can't stop AK-47s , and damn you for saying so.
Last year, talk show host Kelly Ripa gushed to 50 Cent, a former drug dealer turned rapper, about how important his movie "Get Rich or Die Tryin' " was while black women around the country were left to explain to their own black sons, " Sometimes, darling, black boys get shot nine times and they don't live to brag about it on the mike . "
And a few weeks ago, watching the Disney Channel cartoon short "Fabulizer," I seethed when the little white character lamented that his "thug pose" wasn't working.
While the mainstream culture celebrates the pimped-out, thugged-up, cool-by-proxy mirage of commercial rap, those of us who just love black people have to be a little more discriminating. "Sometimes," writes sociologist Mary Pattillo-McCoy, "when you dress like a gangsta, talk like a gangsta and rap like a gangsta often enough, you are a gangsta."
My husband, Ralph, and I try to tell Sydney that rap music used to be fun. It used to call girls by prettier names. We were ladies and cuties, honeys and hotties, and we all just felt like one nation under the groove. Sydney, I tell her, I want you to have all the creativity, all the bite, all the rhythms of black rhyme, but I can't let you internalize toxic messages, no matter how cool some millionaire black rappers tell you they are.
Sydney nods, but I don't know if she fully understands.

I was born to be the Lyte
To give the spark in the dark
Spread the truth to the youth
The ghetto Joan of Arc
-- MC Lyte
Last spring, I got together with some other moms from the first generation of hip-hop. We decided to distribute free T-shirts with words that counter some of the most violent, anti-intellectual and degrading cultural messages: You look better without the bullet holes. Put the guns down. Or my favorite: You want this? Graduate! We called it the Hip-Hop Love Project.
Others are trying their own versions of taking back the music. In Baltimore, spoken-word poet Tonya Maria Matthews, aka JaHipster, is launching her own "Groove Squad." The idea is to get together a couple dozen women to go to clubs prepared to walk off the dance floor en masse if the music is openly offensive or derogatory. "There's no party without sisters on the dance floor," she told me. In New York, hip-hop DJ and former model Beverly Bond formed Black Girls Rock! to try to change the portrayal of black women in the music and influence the women who are complicit in it. "We don't want to be hypersexualized," said Joan Morgan, a hip-hop writer and part of the group, but we don't want to be erased, either.
Finally, it feels like we've gotten back to what black women are supposed to have always known: that it is better to fight than to lie down.
My daughter says I don't like black voices and I could weep that it's come to this. But instead I listen to the most conscious hip-hop that comes my way: Common, Talib Kweli, the Roots, KOS, Kanye West, who blends the commercial with commentary. I close my eyes to listen as Mos Def says:
My Umi said shine your light on the world.
And still, always and forever, Lonnae Loves Cool James.
I keep my CD player filled with old-school tracks and I fill my kids' heads with the coolest, most conscious, most bang-bang the boogie say up jump the boogie songs from when hip-hop and I were young. Sydney says I don't like black voices and I say: Ax Butta how I zone/ Man, Cleopatra Jones .
I make Sydney listen to songs from when rap said something, but my daughter is 12 and she laughs at me. Rap says something now, Mommy, she says.
Lean wit' it
Rock wit' it
Lean wit' it
Rock wit' it
She snaps her fingers and I just nod. Change is gonna come. Meanwhile, her song is catchy. And there are no bitches!
At least not in the chorus.

I was born in BK .. raised in Queens.
That my point, the environment isn't as bad as it was so you won't get the same type of radical music that was prevelent in the 90's. As the world changes, so does hip hop because its music from the people. Its experience music. Hip Hop may be the one genre where the artist are frowned upon when they don't write their own material. We can't walk around pissed off at the world all the time. Especially if we are progressing. Niggaz was broke so that all they could talk about back then. Now niggaz got money in their pockets so what are they gonna rap about now ???
They won't rap about being broke, that for sure.
@XBK & KSH- Yes, Teddy Riley has us all chanting "Zoom Zoom Zoom in the Pum Pum" at many endless Summer Barbeques.
@Ihadno- Good look on the Flava Flav info.
@The Gift. Long ass post, but well thought.
@KSH, now I'm the ex. I was trying to keep it our true love on the dl so Mike wouldn't get mad at me. I'm feeling Flav again also. He lost me with that white chick but he is easily the most real cat out there. Call him a coon or whatever you want to, he represents a large majority of the black male population. Good or bad, he reps himself to the fullest.

-------------------
What is "real hip hop". I hear the term all the time but never get a defintion. The only way hip hop survived this long is because it went commercial. Don't forget that it is a business and if it ain't making any money, who is gonna support it. I know where you are coming from SUN but that doesn't mean that just because a song is on a Voltswagen commercial that it isn't "real hip hop". "Ridin Dirty" is as hip hop as you can get but it was such a hot song, that it went big. It hit an important and still relvant issue of racial profiling. Is it still hip hop ? explain.
This is a question for the whole board, not just for Big Sun.
4CONTROL's biggest baby is Support Online Hip-Hop (SOHH, www.sohh.com), a virtual clearinghouse where Web enthusiasts worldwide congregate to share resources, gather information or simply find the latest scoop. "Community" is the growing emphasis behind many Internet companies and Websites today. Progress for Hip Hop Artists or the streets? Because There was more money floatin around in the streets in the 80's and 90's than there is now. But if you wanna be real about it money doesn't cover the truth up. Eminem is more revolutionary than Jay he was dirt poor got money and still shot that little line across jay's face "I don't rap for dead presidents, I rather see the president dead it's just that i'm tryin to make presidence". Money isn't the issue when it comes down to revolution it's Balls. You got'em or you don't.

We are friendly ex's so it's cool. :-) No flirting on the Blog right? LMAO!
Money is a funny subject you know. My sister brought me a movie last night and I must say that I was sickened by it. She is 22 and she thought is was hilarious and I thought it was disgusting and sad. It was called "Crackheads Gone Wild" - I was ill by the fact that some thinks this is funny enought to do a live DVD about crackheads. Don't get me wrong it has some LARGE insight into the drug and the life you live when you are on it - but was the main purpose to create a something to make people aware or to make fun of them. It was made in ATL and it is a pretty surreal sight that you see.
there is way to many Jigga dickriders in here. everyone in the game is tryin to be what jay is. but it is funny how the most successful niggas in the industry get hated on the most.People say Jay is to old and his new song is weak, Eminem is white, 50 is lyrically wack, Puff dont write his own shit, Kanye is gay. But the craziest shit is these niggas got the industry on lock so they must be doin something right. Quit hating, that shit gets you no where in life..PLEASE STOP THE HATE!!!

---that was a damn good read you just posted.
@ queen of sohh
--- I'm just throwin' a little credit where it's due, via a clean ass freestyle, no need to hate on me.
I always thought the purpose of a single was to reach out to a commercial audince, I aint never known album to be great cause it had the #1 song on billboard. I though a hot album went by how many bangers the cd had. Jay had some big singles but I dont think the nigga great because of can i get a, hard knock life, big pimpin, and Give it to me, I think the nigga great cause of songs like, feelin it, imaginary players, allure, and theres been a murder. Niggas is sounding like Bitches complain about songs that cater to a commercial audience. Are you niggas sure yall like REAL HIP HOP? Or is it HATE that got yall hitting them high notes?
@ ihadnochoice
Even though I am not a at all a Chamilionaire fan by any imagination, it was a Hip Hop song. It's addressed a social problem. The police are a problem Fuck'em. And not to run off track But why not make a song about these fucked up baby kissing politicians who get voted in giving the cops the right to search your crib without a warrant now. Back to the question. Hip Hop has been evolving from day one I don't always like it's transition, it's the youngest form of music on the earth, but when a child vears of track you need to point it in the right direction and sometimes slap it on the behind, hip hop needs a ass whuppin right now and hopefully the real Emcees can jump in the mix and do something about it. Remember 9 out of 10 people are sheep. GIvem what they need.
SHOW ME WUT U GOT LIL MAMA
SHOW ME WUT U GOT PRETTY LADT
SHOW ME WUT U GOT SHAWTAE
SHOW ME WUT U GOT BABY
NOW EVERYBODY WAVE, WAVE, WAVE, WAVE
NOW THATS THE HIP HOP THAT EVERYONE WAS WAITING FOR! LOL.
I WONDER IF JOC OR NELLY WOULDVE DID THAT HOOK, WUT WOULD BE THE COMMENTS.
I THOUGHT JAY-Z'S SINGLE WAS GOING TO BE THE BEST/BIGGEST/HARDEST SINGLE OF THE YEAR. BUT I THINK THE WINNER ISSSS.... T.I. WUT U KNOW ABOUT THAT.. RUNNER UP SHOULDER LEAN.
IN OTHER WORDS, AFTER BEING RETIRED THREE OR FOUR YEARS, THATS WUTCHU COME UP WITH? ANOTHER SING A LONG/ DANCE / CLUB SONG.
SAY WUT U WANT, BUT I EXPECTED SOMETHING BETTER FROM THE SO CALLED BEST RAPPER. EVEN IF U CANT MAKE A GREAT SINGLE, MAKE A BETTER SINGLE THAN EVERYBODY THAT AT LEAST DROPPED THIS YEAR.
Reckless, this is a very disappointing blog today. I'm the biggest HOV fan, but even I'm tired of the same damn questions and blogs about him. And these r the same damn answers I saw on here when u wrote a similar blog previously. And we all know that on every Jay-Z album, the FIRST SINGLE IS ALWAYS A CLUB FRIENDLY JOINT
REASONABLE DOUBT-AINT NO NIGGA (CLUB BANGER)
VOL 1: SUNSHINE (WORST JAY SINGLE TO ME)
VOL 2: HARD KNOCK LIFE (ONLY EXCEPTION, I FUCKED UP)
VOL 3: DO IT AGAIN (A MONSTER IN THE CLUB)
ROC LA FAMILIA: GIVE IT TO ME (STILL GETS THE DANCE FLOOR PACKED)
BLUEPRINT: IZZO (MOST POPULAR SINGLE SINCE HARD KNOCK LIFE)
BLUEPRINT 2: BONNIE AND CLYDE (THE ONE THAT HAD TO GROW ON ME, BUT MAINSTREAM LOVED IT, THANKFULLY DROPPED EXCUSE ME MISS QUICKLY AFTER WHICH WAS MUCH BETTER)
2.1: LA-LA-LA (NOT A TRUE ALBUM AS FAR AS BEING NEW BUT LA-LA-LA WAS CRAZY IN THE CLUB)
BLACK ALBUM: CHANGE CLOTHES (TYPICAL CLUB SONG AND BUTTON UPS BECAME THE SHIT WITH A FITTED AND SOME ONES)
KINGDOM COME: SHOW ME WHAT U GOT (STRAIGHT UNIVERSAL STUNTIN WITH THE NASCAR SHIT FOR THE WHITES, LIL PARTY SCENE, AND THE INTRO TO THE ACE OF SPADES BOTTLE ARNAUD DE BRIGNAC FOR THE ONES CURIOUS AND A CLUB BANGER TOO)
AS U CAN SEE, DUDE IS FOLLOWING THE EXACT SAME GAMEPLAN HE ALAYS DOES. JUST LIKE THE OLD CHICAGO BULLS SETTING UP THE FIRST PLAY FOR BILL CARTWRIGHTS UGLY ASS JUMP SHOT. BUT IT ALWAYS WENT IN AND THE BULLS WERE ALWAYS SUCCESSFUL WITH THAT.
GET THE SIMILE? THAT'S WSUP WIT HOV!
P.S. THAT FAT JOE BLOG WAS YOUR WORST BY FAR
LOL AT THE CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP ARTICLE IN THE DAILY NEWS!! THE END IS ALMOST HERE!!!
Peace Easy F. Baby,
I also think it's because the Time Warners and other companies who distribute the record labels were afraid of the concious revolutionaries and their message, this is why they broke their necks in promoting Gangsta Rap the way they did.
Posted by: Huey Freeman at October 23, 2006 10:45 AM
No one expected gangsta rap, let's call it by it's true name, reality rap to take off the way it did. Ice T birthed it but NWA took it to an entirely new level. Public Enemy lent an East Coast black positivity slant to it that the West Coast wasn't entirely on yet. Think about the fact that a lot of these cats came up under strong black influences. The Bronx had Bambaata, Brooklyn and Queens had strong overtones from Stokely Carmichael, John Carlos, Russell Simmons and the 5 percenters. Yes, those assholes jumped off the black power bandwagon really quick in order to promote something that white kids could emulate. That is the only reason for black power music's decline.
is it okay for jay-z to make club bangers and girl friendly songs, but not okay for down south artist?
just a question. im not going to stick around for the answers, cuz i know these questions get answered out of hate.
i like jayz's new single. but i like rubberband banks and shoulder lean better when it comes to club songs this year.

Name one current song that's better than "Show me what you got".
I can't even lie... I wasn't that enthused about the song at first but the video made me like it more. It is what it is. I am looking forward to Hov.
I just think he is coming out very large and the song isn't as big as his promo situation so I think that is where the "hate" is coming from.
She is 22 and she thought is was hilarious and I thought it was disgusting and sad. It was called "Crackheads Gone Wild" - I was ill by the fact that some thinks this is funny enought to do a live DVD about crackheads.
Posted by: KSH at October 23, 2006 10:58 AM
Funny that you say that. My wife received that DVD from my little cousin who just turned 21. We didn't make it through the first couple of scenes and it was not funny at all. We turned it off and she called my cousin and let her have it. I think it's sad. There is nothing funny about a person's addictions and how they control their lives. It wouldn't matter what the addiction either. There is nothing funny about watching someone that is out of control. We were both disgusted by the opening scene of that movie and it has never crossed the border of my home again.

Wuttup mane, hope you had a good weekend... here's a white boy's take.
There is no such thing as REAL hip-hop... there is old hip hop, and new hip hop, it has just progressed and changed with the times. People that call it "old" hip hop just have a longing for the older music of their youth... they are dissatisfied with the music of today, and want what it used to be. Hip hop is a young genre by other standards and people are just beginning to realize it is changing, plain and simple, there is no real hip hop, it was just old... i.e. when someones parents say: "Rock and roll just isn't what it used to be, haha this stuff isn't real rock and roll" no it is, it's just not what they like, it's changed.

I'm going to tell you all what pisses me off about these kind of subjects. I get really tired of southern hip hop fans coming in here feeling sorry for themselves. I'm going to say this once.
No one that is a regular here is hating on the south. You guys seem to have an inferiority complex. The reason the south catches so much hate here is because you guys will call a rapper with no skills better than say Busta Rhymes because that rapper from down south went platinum. Then you go to the "we support our own, that's why Ny is falling and we're better". That sounds stupid. This is Sohh NYC, fuck scans, make some good shit. If it's wack it's getting called out for what it is. If you can't come in here with a coherent thought, take that we don't get no respect shit out of here. A lot of us love south rappers. The topic here is usually about an NY rapper. Stop that feel sorry for us, we get no respect shit.
Easy F:
Yeah me and my sister had a huge diasgreement about the shit but we are POLAR opposites so that is nothing new. But I am like "whose dam house were you raised in?" I felt like calling my mom and dad and snitching her out. I thought that was the worst thing I had ever seen.
Made me think about BigUp's blog. If you are looking for Black men and Black women - a lot of them are in that pitiful situation.

WHY IS IT, THAT JAY DROPS A CLUB "BANGER" AND ITS GREAT BUT WHEN NIGGAZ IS "LEANIN N ROCKIN" ITS STUPID AND THE CAUSE OF THE DEATH OF HIP HOP?
THA KING HAS SPOKEN!
I think his comeback will b da same as his wife or fiancee or wateva she is. People treated deja vu like shit, said she would fail and was certified gold wen dat shit came out first week! Jay will do da same cuz he has millions of fans, jus like her who will support their asses. lol just like her da sales will drop da next week to a degree where people will b like o god jay z! no one likes his new stuff anymore even though its good, n just like her people will buy hhis cds every single day, slowly but they will until its certified multi plat. I work at circuit city n people buy bee cds every day, slowly but we run out of the dozen on the shelves each week. same startegy n always works cuz these people use their statuses as superstars to get ahead, dats y u got game askin to to push his album so he'll b number one his first week.
People put too much on who is the best because some people will say its sales but we all know that because something sales doesn't make it a good album. And just because something doesn't sale doesn't make it a bad album. Case in point.
50 Cent Massacre 1.1 Mil and it was just avg shit
Busta Rhymes- HOT SHIT disapointing sales.
Jay I don't think is TOp 3 He makes top 5 but his albums esp he later ones don't do much.

Good one.
Its usually older hip hop fans that don't appreciate any of the new stuff and the same thing happened with Rock and Roll. Yall think that Guns and Roses dig Panic at the Disco ?
THis issues isn't just relegated to hip hop. Its not a music gap moreso its an age/genration gap. Its even like that in R&B. Most new artist come with a dance routine and all but the R&B stars of the 80's and 90's actually sung. Its all the same game no matter what genre and that why I don't pay it that much attention when it comes to hip hop. I try to realte to all the stuff out. For every D4L and DFB we had the fucking AFROS and Biz Markie.
Yall gonna tell me that ONYX wasn't a gimmick to go mainstream ?
How about the GRAVEDIGGERS ?
Would you guys say we are nerds for always being on a blog talking about other peoples lives? I got into an argument with my girl about this last night, and she said it was something that a geek would do and to get a life.
this single and blog is pointing out that, people have been criticizing what the south has been doing and not realizing the so called " best rapper alive" has been using this formula to seperate himself from the rest of hip hop.
all of jays singles were posted on here - and they all were club bangers. but when they do it down south, some people ( not everyone ) were criticizing. it just shows it wasnt criticism, but hate and jealousy. so now, these blogs and comments have to change, because jay ( the best raper alive ) just made it okay to use the club formula again. unless you guys are going to start hating on him too?
Why is it O.K. for Jay to make a club banger and its GREAT,but down south artists such as "JOC", "D4L", "Dem Franchise Boyz" are the reason that hip hop is dying?
This question has been asked and i just wondered what your thoughts might be
THA KING HAS SPOKEN!
No disrespect to anyone that posed this question. This will be my last answer on this played out question.
A rapper or mc can do whatever they want with their time and money. Here is where the problem comes in. Cats like Young Joc are not really mc's. They got lucky enough to catch on to a hot track and the vocals are just not up to par. Ok, you give them a pass and wait for the follow up. The follow up is just as wack as the first. Maybe even moreso. Jay even flows hot on his club bangers. Remember We gon' do it again, Lobsters and Shrimps, Money Cash Hoes, Jay to the Izzo, Can I get a'. Then think of his true street shit. It's all flow, all the time even when it's made for the club. No one is hating on the South. You have a few cats that pop up here and state something stupid like, "the south is better, our artists are going plat". I don't hate on anyone that makes a banger for the clubs but don't expect me to cop that shit if that is the only thing you can present to me. Show me some lyrical skill in the middle of all those banging beats. If you can't I'm going to pronounce you wack.
@ EASY F and KSH
That DVD wasn't put out for educational purposes it was meant for entertainment. It is what it is and if their was no drug problem, there would be no DVD. The drugs ain't going nowhere anytime soon so its not like the DVD promotes drug use. If anything, it would serve as an example of why not to fuck with drugs. Who the fuck wants to look like those crackheads? It is what it is. You can make it an educational piece just as much as its entertaining. There are some people who know nothing of what "crackhead" life is like and that DVD will bring it to the light. But I found it entertaining regardless but I have a sick sense of humor ....

i was hoping you would see my point through all i said... yeah i think people make it out like it's only in hip hop all the time, but reality it is in every single music genre. Heck even contemporary Christian artists are catching heat from old gosple saying their music is to vague, they are focusing on peace, love, joy, instead of direct topics like Christ for fear of seeming to "over the top" for lack of a better word.

im from down south, and i still got raekwon ( only built for cuban linx ) ghostface ( ironman ) and wu-tang forever albums.
not saying that its you, but other people were hating on the singles that were coming out from down south because they were club bangers, and not giving the artists album a chance.
me personally, i like jayz's new single. i hated its going down. but i like young jocs album.
nobody can say whos better cuz sometimes i only wanna hear pacs all eyes on me for a whole week and dont wanna hear nobody else.
people shouldve just said why they truly dont like artists and stop disliking them by comparing them to their favorite artist. because thats when it comes across as hating rather than having a legitimate argument.
now people cant say they hate club bangers and down south, and in the same breath say they like jay'z new banger. ( i like it )
now people can stop saying hip hop is dead becase of the new formula being used to market, and say hip hop was born again. Or people can just say everybody aint hip hop, and jayz might be one of those who arent. and just hope nas dont go the club route for the sake of arguing
LOL....LMAO....HOW THE FUCK CAN SOMEONE MENTION D4L/JOC/DEM FRANCHISE BOYS AND HOVA IN THE SAME SENTENCE....THAT IS HILARIOUS....THAT JUST SHOWS WHERE HIP HOP IS HEADED!!!
LOL....D4L...that shit is too funny
The fact that hip hop is in aserious decline can not be ignored. Compare 2006 to 1996...you cant...The majortiy of rappers in NYC or big name West Coast rappers, along with the original down south movement the orginal cash money millionares, were doing bigger numbers and honestly writing better songs. Personally I rock wit LOX more than any1 bsides Pac, and even tho it hurts to say none of there new shit(aside from 50 disses) compares to the LOX-We Are the Streets(1998)for example. In all honesty if you fuck with hip hop you no the truth everybody from Hov to Nas to Jada to Dre to Outkast was all doing bigger numbers with more quality music......AND AS FAR AS THE SOUTH RAP MOVEMENT IS CONCERNED you fans of this bullshit need to recognize the music sucks, there not putting ATL or Houston on the map b/c they've been there since the 1850's. All the Southern rappers are doing is giving black people a bad name by acting like fucking coons, hooting a hoolering not makin music, the lyrics could be written by a street educated 6th grader and this type of music and niged out promotions for bullshit make the white man and all others take black people less seriously and gives thme the right to insult our or those rappers' intelligence levels

If you liked then that's your own choice. I was disgusted and I don't think the plight of others is funny in any way, shape or form. To each his own I guess. I have no respect for anyone that decides that the only way to make a dollar is on the backs of others. That in my mind makes that person no better than the Africans that gave up their family members and friends to the Europeans in order to make a profit. It is no better than Bush knocking down the WTC towers for more oil and special interests. It is no better than him going into Iraq in order to colonize and suck up all of the natural resources. It is no better than the Western Europeans sucking out all of the natural resources in Africa, Eastern Europe and the West Indies over the course of history for their own personal gain. I'm sick of people using capitalist views to justify their actions. Nothing was served by showing people with obvious personal issues except someones personal gain. Women suffer domestic violence daily, children are molested daily, cops assault people daily. Is that shit worthy of your dollars for entertainment purposes?

You dont know hip hop if you think Jigga's best album was The Black album...that probably means that you just started to listen to hip hop...BUT IT OKAY YOU STILL GOT TIME TO EDUCATE YOURSELF....GO GET "THE BLUEPRINT" GO GET "REASONABLE DOUBT" GO GET ONE OF HIS WORST ALBUMS "bLUEPRINT 2" AND i BET THAT ALBUM IS BETTER THAN ALMOST EVERY ARTIST ALBUM OUT TODAY
Shit, I had to come out of retirement from this blog like Hov.
The "Show Me What You Got" single is just what it is...a single. No different than his other singles. Niggas swear somebody is fallin off, but you can find them noddin their heads to it in the whip.
Ghostface, if he is so good, why didn't everyone support him. Simple, his single was not bangin. This isnt some fantasy world where talent prevails over hype. Hip hop is/was never dead. Fans are just lame nowadays. Lupe would be platinum if this wasn't true.
Bottomline, Jay knows what he's doing. He was retired and his name was still brought up every week. Not one rapper didn't talk about him at some point during his retirement. He is keepin the buzz for his album release. If you want proof, MTV is dedicated to him. Check mtv.com/news and see if he isn't the most brought up rapper. He is gonna drop his album and save the buzz for Nas. Why you think him and Nas joined forces. For piggyback success. Honestly, Nas wasn't gonna sell like Jay if he released his album first. The average white person doesn't buy Nas albums. The average white person does buy Jay albums. He has a pic wit the fking Nanny (Fran Drescher) throwing up the ROC sign. I think I've said enough about this topic. It will probably be recycled again this week so I'll argue then.
PEACE
jay doesnt help us progress his flow and style are nice but i never hear anything he says that makes me want to go change or think deep.
queenOfsohh:
think what you may. my fingers are tired today so i don't feel like catering to your e-beef needs. peace
Why is everyone keep talkin bout "show me what you got"....no one mentions "kingdome come"....thats cause none of y'all can hat on that track...its exactly what Hov expected all the haterz came out on "show me what you got" and the next day he leaked the street single and no one is saying shit about that cause its classic Jigga...."take off the blazer, losen up the tie, step inside the booth superman is aliiiivve"...."New York New York we Baccccck"
@ EASY F. BABY
No, not really, because i'm not advocating D4L, JOC or Dem Franchize Boyz. What im sayin is...Its a club song...Why is one club song a banger and the other isnt...If its for the club its for the CLUB!
Jay aint spreadin no KNOWLEDGE in that bullshit ass song and neither is D4L or JOC....ITS FOR THE CLUB! Thats my point...Ya'll niggaz be so quick to judge and ready to hate that ya'll start contradicting ya'selves
One of ya'll stated that it was a good move for Jay because the song gets played in "EVERY" club not just black clubs...THATS GOIN POP!
HELL JOC is in "EVERY" club but its not smart for him to do that?!
Point is...If its a club song its a club song...if its wack its wack, dont defend JAY's shit, just accept that its a wack song by JAY...POINT BLANK!
Unless ur a JAY fan, then i'm sure its the best club song of the YEAR!
THA KING HAS SPOKEN!
damn - did anyone else get promotion like that for their songs on def jam. " monday night football halftime exclusives " " budwiser commercial ". i dont think meth, roots, or LL even had a poster.
just something to point out.
@ huey
preciate' it... i was just trying to make a point bout how many people are sooo on jock to the old schoolers they will accept anything as long as it comes from the horses mouth.
Man i think people are stupid i 100% agree with new_skool man i wish people would just think about what the rap game is about its a business and all these people think about is gettin the money not how to go about getting. Thats why i can stand haters everybody in here is hating on jay-z they hate on a lot of people in here man they will ride with the south when the only artist in the south is selling is t.i luda.... if anybody else went platinum please let me know. all that bullcrap music the south is putting out isnt selling so they can make the club bang all the want they can keep the streets hot but the streets aint buyin yo stuff so it doesnt matter in the long run thats why jay-z 50, em, snoop, dre, ti,luda come out with them singles cuz they gonna attract white people and the black people which is why they go platinum and all them downsouth artits that people love so much can barely break gold smarten up people smarten up please

I don't think selling your family is as serious as taping crackheads. It may be the same type of ignorance but at very different levels. But I can't help what is funny to me. I would never go out and do something like that but watching it was entertaining just as much the drunk girls in "girls gone wild".
Or the idiots gettijng chased in "Amazing Police Videos"...
Its all the same to me. In don't look at thing like that politically.
I laughed at the MARION BARRY video and he had a serious plight.

The quality of music hasn't changed that much from now to then. For every great album, you had 4 garbage albums. What has changed is the number of ipods and mp3 players. What has changed are the number of hi speed internet subscribers. What has changed are the number of album leaks internet wide. The digital divide is closing daily. Stop using sales as your barometer for the reason why hip hop is dead. Hip hop isn't dead yet.
@ BK
NOBODY hatin on jay-z. people just pointin out, that when other rappers were doing that "hip hop was dead".
but its okay for jay
have you ever heared " murder for a couple grand " a street single.
everybody does that. people just tryin to point out thats whats been goin on, so NOBODY can complain now. AND DONT JUDGE no artist by a single.

They don't have Jay's budget....
LETS NOT FORGET THE BUSINESS PART OF ALL THIS.
Hov deosn't run the media world.
u right about the promotion but when has there albums ever been promoted that tought with the exeception of LL cool j. meth drops every 4-5 years and i mean jay-z has money of his own 2 promote jay-z's status is on a whole totally different level than ll's meths or ghostface he can appeal to more people across the country and world then they can thats why he has that promotion. and i mean whether u promote a cd or not the cd isnt gonna be any different and ll hasnt had a good cd since g.o.a.t so its not def jam jay-z is promotiong jay-z and its nothing wrong with that def jam know that album is gonna be a big winner and nas's album and on top of that u can waste money of promoting album that isnt gonna sell regardless. thats why ll's meth's and ghostface or anybody else album wasnt promoted as much its about saving promotion money so that money can go 2 the artist pocket
@??????,
that shit was kinda puzzling 2 me, 2 cee Jay-Z on MNF, I could cee if it was the NBA, with Hov being part owner of the Nets, but that shit did'nt fit.

JUST WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW, JAYZ'S SONG IS OKAY. AND NOW PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND WHY OTHER ARTISTS PUT OUT CLUB BANGERS. ( SO THE REGISTERS RING )
NOBODY SAID THEY HATE JAY'S SONG. THEY JUST ASKED WAS IT OKAY TO MAKE CLUB BANGERS NOW SINCE THE QUOTE "BEST RAPPER ALIVE" (NOT MY QUOTE) DID IT AGAIN.
THAT WAS A YES OR NO. IF YOUR ALBUM IS WACK - ITS WACK. NO MATTER REGIONS. IM SURE D4L ALBUM WAS WACK, BUT SO WAS THE LAST MOS DEF, CANNIBUS, AND CASSIDY, ETC. ( I LIKE 3 SONGS OF OF HIS ALBUM THOUGH )
BUT U GET THE POINT
@willy wonka
Jay-Z has been doing this marketing formula forever....every rapper tries to copy his fomula 50 did it with G-unit and everybody's fav rappers does it....but Jigga gats a pass because we have seen the results of this formula before and nearly everytime we are delivered classic albums....WE CANT SAY THE SAME FOR THE D4L'S AND THE YOUNG JOC'S THAT ARE IN THE GAME TODAY!!!
?

Get over it, little one, and I dont care how HARD you've BEEN TRYING to make friends in here, it dont matter how confident you feel now after 3 months, you'll still get your ass handed to ya.
We ALL know, I'm a Jay-Z fan
And I know, you hate Hov,
And I know, you wet yourself this morning, but let it go
Your comments are SOHH prototypical of a hater that they do not need to be addressed,
To all the Suspects, what up niggas? Shouts to all of yall
To all the disgruntled wanna be's like King of SOHH, let it go, go read the Disclaimer from previous posts.
And a special shout out to my nigga Stanley (King of SOHH), you are a hellava stock at MorganStanley, even after a whole quarter you're still rising
@ THAT MAN
LL GOT SERIOUS MONEY TOO. TRUST ME. UNLESS YOU ARE SAYING JAY-Z IS MARKETING HIS OWN ALBUM OUT OF HIS POCKET AND NOT DEF JAM. THEN I CAN UNDERSTAND. BUT IF DEF JAM IS PROMOTING IT, THEN SOME ARTIST DO HAVE LEGITIMATE REASONS TO BE UPSET AT THEIR PROMOTIONS
@huey
i agree, i mean the reason why alot of other countries have so many troops is becuase they dont have a choice, we need to do something wit they asses, i mean especially the people thats on death row, hell lets use em for something!
@ dis
Coming from a former marine..i see your point and it is a valid thought, and i see your thought process behind it. But the worst thing you can do is put people who don't want to be there, and are ill-trained. It's a volunteer force our military and putting folks in there as a punishment would endanger other soldiers, and tarnish the reputation and valor of our military, if i was on the battlefield wouldn't want some criminal who don't wanna be there watching my back. I want a trained soldier ready to defend me and our country with his life.
I'm going to end in a few post so I'm going to start with the end of this conversation with the King of Sohh.
Don't mix up my answers up with the other things you've read here today. I'm not looking for your acknowledgement either so watch how you step to me regarding contradictions. You asked me a question, I answered it. I never once stated that Jay is dropping knowledge in his tracks. I stated that his flow is sick on club or street tracks. That is what I'm listening for. I can't pull any memorable lines out of a Young Joc track. I can't say there is anything memorable on a D4L track. I hate when a group or individual comes out with a dance track, make up some corny rhymes and call it hip hop. I hated it when Hammer(Oakland) did it. I hated it when Father MC(Brooklyn) did it. I hated it when Crucial Conflict(Chicago) did it. All from different coast, all wack but the tracks and hooks were hot. Whether you accept that as answer doesn't matter to me. I don't defend Jay, I respect his flow. So save all the little disses on that vein also. I like the "Show em What You Got" joint because I know he copped it off a Public Enemy joint from back in the day. I also think his flow is sick on it. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be adversed to stating it. I like Lloyd Banks as a lyricist but his lead joint is garbage. I'm a big TI fan for his club and street shit. Everyone that knows me here know that I'm a Trick Daddy fan. I love Outkast, Luda, Weezy and I'm a big fan of Manny Fresh beats. Point is, I don't care what type of track you drop, if it's wack and your lyrics aren't tight, I'm not for it period. Stop the sneak dissing. If you are addressing a question to me, read my response. Don't add anyone elses opinion into mine.
Kingdom Come will go Platinum in first week...whack single or not!!! DEAL WIT IT HATERZ....NEW YORK IS BACK
KSH- Good Morning. I don't care what no one says "Show What U Got" is good music period. Isn't the intro on that song the same intro horns used on WRECKS N EFFEX's Rumpshaker. AAHHH SHEETT I'am bout to break out my Cross Colors kicks and Karl Kani Overalls. LOL!!!!!
Posted by: Mega One at October 23, 2006 10:28 AM
----------------
And that's one of the reasons I hate the song, because everytime it comes on I think it's Rumpshaker, LOL
Why do people have to be "hating on Jay-Z" just because they don't like the song? I personally don't like the song, don't like the video, but oh well I just won't tune in.
For all the people who hold Jay in this "god-like" light, you're not going to make the rest of us see him in that way, that is strictly YOUR OPINION and not fact.
I'm not a fan, and this single is not going to make me jump on the bandwagon, I'm not hating on Jay or his accomplishments, but IMO, this song is wack, no wiggity wack ,LOL,
Everybody is saying that it's just the radio single and that it's not indicative of the album.
This is why hip hop sales are in a slump right now. Artists need to make music as if they have NO FANS, instead of being so cocky as to think they are the "God MC" or "King". A radio single is supposed to make you wanna buy the whole CD, not vomit.
@ BK
I AGREE WITH HE GETS A PASS. BUT TRUTH IS, IF DOWN SOUTH DIDNT MAKE THOSE TYPES OF SINGLES, THEY WOULDNT EVEN GET A CHANCE AT A RECORD DEAL.
SO I DONT CRITICIZE THEM OR JAY. BECAUSE AN A&R WILL TELL U QUICK TO GIVE THEM SOMETHING FOR THE RADIO AND CLUBS.
T.I HAD TO PUT OUT CLUB BANGERS ON THREE ALBUMS BEFORE HE WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT "WHAT U KNOW ABOUT THAT"
AND HE JUST GETTIN RESPECT ON THE SORRIEST ALBUM HE MADE.
SO WE CAN CRITICIZE PEOPLE OFF OF THEIR SINGLES. WE HAVE TO CRITICIZE THEM OFF OF THEIR ALBUMS.
Oh yeah... we'll see how long that release date for Ghostface lasts. BUT, I can't wait...
Jay disappointed me.
@ihadno
I'm not addressing any venom at you. I hope you don't take it that way. We both have different views but we usually arrive at the same spot. That dvd just upset me.
@Huey
I just can't get into that thought process of watching those kind of things. If it's for studies or a point of reference for a school project, then I understand the need for viewing. I've done all of that already. I can't get with it because it make me emotional.
btw: For those calling Lupe boring, check that joint with Lupe and Jay. It's hot.

I respect Jay but lets not give him the humanitarian award
lets be honest
Jay makes business moves and he's a very intelligent investor
running the business is a another story
but choosing his investments wisely
and marketing himself
the dude is brilliant!
but lets not give him the open doors title
Jay hasn't fought for sht
his popularity and success makes everyone grab and jerk their dks to do business with him
Def offer'd him the presidency
he didn't fight for it
granted its a big deal
but open doors....nah
Def Jam made a business move to hold on to their biggest money maker who is still on top of his game hoping him being associated with the label would translate into sales.
I respect his accomplishments but lets not get carried away.
thats all I'm saying I'm not knocking em
He's done big things
but lets not exaggerate
i wasn't hype about J's first single but you know he gotta put his change clothes imma baller single out first just to attract the ladies because thats who buy the albums but kingdome come that song is straight heat
ne-one catch the subliminals hov sent out to dipset on show me what you got i give the song 3 out of 5

no one get it twisted.
IM NOT DEFENDING WACK ALBUMS/ARTISTS. im defending radio friendly singles. (its good for business)
congrads 2 luda, for droppin another dirty south banga. and peace to jay-z for stepping out and leading his platinum-plus team into the trenches of hiphop surivial.(defjam & hiphop will never die, in my opinion) let's face it, with the gangsta shootings in hiphop(once a month) and the paris hilton, john cena, kevin federline's dropping albums, hiphop is very suburb-friendly now! THE MASSES ARE SCARED 2 DEATH OF THE REAL, UNCUT HIPHOP! white america want the club bangers, and the feel good rap to only relate to the streets, not help bring us out! JAY-Z is a living icon, and "that show me what you got" is FIYA.. no matter what the haters do or think, real niggas keep it moving and help others in the process. to answer the blog topic, HELL YEAH, I'M GLAD 2 SEE THE HOV, BACK

Most of his shouts were to the thugs. We revere them but hate on Jay. I'll never understand it. These are only men, nothing else. They have to eat. As long as the track is hot and the flow is up to par, I'm buying it.

You took my comment and ran with it, typical Jay-Z solider response.
I'm not saying that Show Me What You Got is the wackest song on the radio just saying that it's wack.
Most of the CD's that have come out recently haven't appealed enough for me to purchase. Last purchase was the Carter II, nothing after that.
I'm not hating on Jay, I own a copy of Reasonable Doubt and two other Jay albums, that's not what I'm saying.
I was simply saying to all of the people, you included, who hold Jay in such a high regard that's fine, but don't bash the people who don't see him in that same light. That's all I'm saying.

I respect Jay-Z for Reasonable Doubt and thats it. All his other albums are sub par to say the least. Most of his singles are aimed for the clubs and are about as lyrical as a Young Jeezy track (which is zero). I have no doubts about that but i am not his biggest fan never have been. Like Nas he had his classic, milestone album in R.D but thats it. For me Jay is just a little overrated.

but Jay-z joint is crazy in the club right now for real , and i actally could listen too it when it comes on the radio unlike . Young joc i no you see it - or jibbs song

Please someone tell me who else has went 8 straight summers (going platinum or plus)and not taking any breaks. We got some platinum selling artist but they take breaks (ie. Em, 50,Luda, DMX at one point). Jay did it year after year. He started most of these trends today...dude was drinking Cris back on his first album. He got everyone on the platinum and diamonds (Jacob the jewler said it himself). One of the hottest rappers out now (Weezy) tried to emulate his style on Carter 1. Jay shut down the jersey game. First one to a sneaker deal. First one to buy NBA team. 40/40 club! And the list goes on and on. BLACK COMMUNITY..WAKE THE F UP! It's been almost 3 years since Jay's departure...who the hell has taken the lead? I like the south music but to me its becoming all the same and that's why Jay's single is hot to alot of people. Look at Franchise boyz..came out with a song. JD goes with Grills next then to Monica..all the same beat or if not similar. People keep talking about the hood etc.. the HOOD don't buy albums plain and simple. If so why are our black artist not even going gold more or less selling a mil. Having a hot single doesn't equate to high sells...ask Chingy. People buy Jay's album cuz they know he will have great music. Once again we are going to be 2 steps away from back on the block slanging. We only have 2 albums in the top 10 right now...not singles but albums. Now once you sit back and listen and even look at the video it's a nice song. Jay's accent and flow makes it all that. Plus the women in the video are nice (the dancing). They aren't just put in the video like every other one. The artist today are only trying to emulate the final result. Instead of hating step up your game.

I think that there is a reason why criminals are where they are and there is a reason why servicemen/women are where they are.
It takes a special person to put aside familial ties, fear of death, preconceived notions and personal differences in order to join an Armed Force. Even if they disagree with the politics of the day, when called to arms they respond without question. It takes a special person to be a part of a team and trust that you have done your part to enrich that team even when your involvement is indirect, ie; medical or a paper pusher for example. It takes a special person to blindly follow instructions that put your life at risk in order to serve a common cause or belief.
What type of intestinal fortitude did it take for that criminal to rob that old lady? How about the one that shot that parent's son while his back was turned. Better yet, what about the molester that raped that little boy or girl that trusted them.
Keep them locked up. The country is already sending kids with no idea of what it takes to survive to the Iraqi killing fields.
Before the hate comes from you veterans, I served 8 yrs in the Navy. I was in Somalia, Desert Storm and Operation Southern Watch. Never question my committment to the troops. Each of these campaigns served two masters, money and power. I did it anyway because I was committed.

Posted by: BK at October 23, 2006 01:29 PM
No, the problem with America is people are being lied to by our government. You are supposed to be able to trust your leaders but they consistently let us down. Even when proven to be liars they still stick to the same pathetic story. Military men are commited to the uniform and the cause. There is no conflict in their mind in what is right or wrong. If they are ordered to pick up a weapon, it's going to happen because that is what they are trained to do. Everyone should have an active affiliation in something. It gives you a value structure to follow and instills some sense of dedication towards a cause. It doesn't matter if it's the Army or your church. We blindly follow the tenets of the Bible as interpreted by our church leader without really questioning whether or not they are correct. Right or wrong, he/she stated it as the "Word from the Lord" and because he/she is your leader, you gave it credence.

Yo, that Jay single is pretty lame. I mean for some one who's been out of the game for awhile, you would think he would bang your head but not, he opted for the radio friendly bullshit. The Kingdom Come song, I heard that shit a year ago, he spit those verses on a radio staion in Baltimore. Nothing this guy is doing worth going all out to buy. or listen to. Jay's flow is mediocre at best, and he really does jack niggas swagger, listen to his slang now: dude be shark biting alot of niggas words, and pretending that's his creation(peep his word play). I mean compared to what's out now, he alright, but I'm tired of dude talking the same shit since he came in the game. Message to Jay-Z: Growth will not hurt your sales, maybe increase them, show some growth on your records. ONE!!!!!!!

You can never compare the mentality of a soldier to that of a civilian. A serviceperson is loyal to the squad, squadron, unit or group to which they are assigned. You have pro black, pro white serving side by side in these units. They are not brainwashed, they only believe in loyalty and teamwork. It is truly the only place that a lot of them feel they have the ability to fulfill that desire towards service to a cause.
@htownmike
Reasons for reparations:
1. Meritorious Mannuism. How many blacks were freed by their masters using this process only to be later returned to slavery by some person with no respect for this law.
2. Appropriated land. How many blacks have had their land taken by the government over the past 166 years by force, thru lowball tactics or by divide and conquer tactics.
3. Forced service. How many blacks served in wars over the years although they were considered 3/5 of a man. How many free blacks have been forced to live in poverty because they weren't allowed an education during planatation times.
I can go on. We deserve our wills to be read. We deserve to know our family tree. A lot of our ancestors were sold away from their family members at young ages, given land or money and have no idea who to leave it to in their wills. It's just free land and money that has been absorbed by the government over many years. Do you need a point of reference. Look up the name Adolph Brown. Read his family's story then tell me we don't deserve reparations.
I'm not snapping at you, I'm just answering your question to my man Huey Freeman.
50 Cent?
Puffy?
Jay-Z?
Fat Joe? (some might agree with this one)
Nas?
Russell Simmons?

i understand where you are coming from but... why do YOU i.e. blacks alive today deserve any of that, it wasn't your land, it was your kinfolks land, ancestors, i'm for maybe money for funds of some sort, or comm projects, not direct payments to individuals who had no direct ties to the hardships...
-say for instance i could go back in hisorical records and confirm an ancestor of mine was murdered by a slave for whatever reason... that slave was related to you. would you feel right having to pay me out of your tax money for the hardship the family of my ancestor endured, it's all outrageous just give it up.
Honestly Easy F i respect your opinions i really do, i also know both of us are very strong on our opinions of this subject and we are hard headed... we won't change each others mind on this one man and we both know it. Lets just agree to disagree LOL cause i don't feel like typin' that much today... you can have the last word.
Those "terror alerts" are based on the intelligence gathered by the military. believe it or not, there is suspicious behavior by suspicious people on a daily bases, i.e. takin pictures in places such as subways and airports, large amounts of money from countries known to harbor terrorist, and mass purchases of items such as cellphones.
Those terror alerts don't restrict 98% of the population from doin anything, so your only as "programed" as you want to be. If u don't give a phuck like i do, don't let that stuff the govt is spittin at us stop u from everyday plans.

@queenofnc
NC??? nigga please SC niggaz are harder then you lames!!!
I'm not hating on either team here cuz my team kinda sux ryt now (TB Bucs). I don't think Dallas has a chance in this one. The O-line is Garbage, brees doesn't get enough time to throw, he can't move around to create time, and T.O. bitches too damn much. he is a distraction on the field. also, tiki is one of the best RB's in the game, and the giants got more firepower and a better D.

What funny is how the alerts haven't been going up and down since the elction. They just issued an alert for sports stadiums and its still hasn't changed. I don't believe in that fucking alert bullshit. Its a motherfucking scare tactic. Like I've always said... if shit is so bad for blacks why the fuck are we running around worried about a bomb dropping on us as if we don't have more important issues relating to deat such as Cnacer, Heart Diesease, Violence. I don't give a fuck about a terror alert or a fucking war.

When the fuck is Dr. Dre coming out with Detox. It's been 7 years since he dropped 2001, it's time 2 re-up. I don't care if that CD is $22.95. I'm buying it! On another note i was more anticipated when the black album came out. Now it's like what the fuck jay is gonna say. I'm lookin foward to the beats more than the lyrics on kingdome come, but that 1st single is kinda "Beyonceish/Deja vuish"(soft) but it's a party joint. I heard a lot of niggas on this website say that Rotten Apple isn't good, but i copped it and it's decent. The next album im a check 4 is Snoop dogg, Clipse, Young Jeezy, Young Buck, Jay-Z, and Nas (even though his last two albums were Boooring!) Fuck Jim Jones and Game.

Americans are not the author of world isolationism. We are also not the authors of colonization. The world is about black and white struggles. Western Europeans and Black Africans have struggled against each other for years. Isrealis and Arabs have struggled against each other for years. These are the two major factions in worldwide conflicts in recent, modern history. Go back to Ancient Egypt and it's destruction by the Greeks and Assyrians.
America is only attempting to advance it's views by any means necessary. The Bush administration believes in force, the Clinton administration believed in diplomacy in most cases. There were a few examples where Clinton even lost his way such as Somalia, the pharmaceutical plant they deliberately destroyed in Sudan, Kosovo, Ecuador and Sierra Leone. Bush is no worse than any president in history, he just gets no pass because he is too stupid to mask it.
It's one thing to make incendiary remarks that may spark someone less informed to respond, but be careful and realize that we were only speaking about military men and women. Have you ever served BK?

And the chances of that happening is slim to none so dont' worry about us worry about ATL recovering from that 7 sack game we gave them lol
by "US" I meant my family who immigrated to this country from El Salvador during the civil war in the 80's. Also, where are your "folks'" parents from and their parents and their parents. I'm pretty sure somewhere down the line someone crossed a river or a ocean so that your ass could be here in this country and have benefits and rights you otherwise wouldn't have.
This is my last one them I'm out for the day.
@htownmike
This time I have to ride with only one thing about you. You stick to your guns and that's cool I respect your opinion because it's from a white person's point of view. In a conversation, every viewpoint is valid. Be careful about Bush though, he has an agenda and it only fits him, not us, Black or White. In Katrina, whites died just as well as blacks. It didn't matter to him as long as the business owners and special interests groups down there didn't withhold any money or support. Black or white, all money is the same color to him.
@all the rest that feel the need to shit on htownmike. Even though I'm not co-signing his post content, I'm co-signing his right to his opinion. Like it or not, it's his.

I agree with you on the statement that we should have never invaded Iraq, yeah the president and whoever gave him that intel were wrong as fuck. and i wouldn't put the invasion of iraq past personal reasons for the president. but the fact of the matter is that we are there now. we have to make a smooth transition out. we can't just leave this mess cause their in the mist of a civil war and if we all just dipped out now, who know's what terrorist factions might make their hq there.
But i do beleive that we are making positive strides in leavin the middle east. the other day, the president FINALLY met up with the chief of staffs and commanders of troops in iraq and they are givin the iraqi govt progress points of where they should be, with incentives for reaching those goals.
The middle east is a very turbulant place. alot of those people don't like us. if we can leave iraq with a govt strong enough to sustain peace and protect it's self, u know how valuable an ally it would be.
And before u start makin comments about me bein a republican or a George Bush stan, half way into typin this long ass post up i got a casulaty report with 4 brothers, sons, husbands, and fellow devil dogs that wont be comming home from the sand box put on my desk. so don't tell me i don't give a fuck about troops.

I'll give u 3 reason why we won't get reparations.
1) Bcuz we're the most divided people on the planet that can't agree on simple shyt and fuss and fight over crumbs.
2) Bcuz the white man is so got damn greedy, they'll do everything they can in their power to make sure they don't have to break bread with any of us. Even if it means paying a few of us off to sabotage the movement.
3) FUCK AMERICA - We need to go back to Africa and kick all them damn pale skin, crackers out of our land and divide the trillions of dollars of natural resources amongst ourselves.

Not this reparations shit again...
I can careless what the Jews got but I ain't no bottom feeder that needs a handout. How give reparations anyways. Do you have to be 100% black or just 1/8th is good enough. How would that be paid out ? What would be the backlash from other minorities ? its too much extra shit to go through for a fucking handout. I don't deserve any reparation because I wasn't out there fighting for our rights and I wasn't out there on the cotton field.. I was born and raised here in USA but my family is from Haiti. Does that mean I should get reparations even though my family has only been here for one genration ? Too much extra shit involved. Let the Jews do them.

The black people over there can't stop fighting and killing each other... just like over here.... We would be doing the white man a favor by movinhg back. Then they can really set off the nukes and finish us all.
@Huey Freeman- Your examples are on point, but cash payments won't be the answer. I think we should get exactly what the Native Americans have gotten. Casinos, Free college Education, etc.
Can U please school me on the whole AIDS origination. i heard stories about it being created in D.C. for blacks or something like that.
Then ppl back home In the West Indies have told me it was Gay Europeans who came to the Islands with that Sh!t.
Yeah Back in this.
@ Huey and ihadnochoice
I don't want shit from the devil. The minute they give you reparations they'll tax the shit out of you on it. Or change the tax bracket so they'll get most of it back. The only reparation we should take is a 10 year tax break on income earned. Funny thing about that it the 16th amendment states that there shall be no taxation on wages earned. No taxes for ten years would be cool.
@ Xclusive BK,
I agree with U, each reason U gave is painfully true, until WE as a race can learn 2 come 2gether, WE AIN'T GETTIN' SHIT!!!! the colored man only brought that shit up 2 tease us, them honkies, 2 this day don't give a shit about US, U & I both know that shit won't happen anytime soon.

Co-sign that shit...A LOT of Africans and Black Islanders think they are better than black people, because they can come over and acheive more than some blacks have been able to their whole lives here, i.e. higher education, home ownership...
re post for all that missed my reasons for reparations:
Legitimate financial and legal reasons for reparations.
what y'all got to understand is that the white man has been jackin land from other people forever....thats why you got people in the mideast that hate the U.S cause they see the U.S pressence in the mideast as the white man is trying to jack their land

You must get a kick out of the mess he's leaving behind on the "minorities" that doesnt affect your ass, thats why you see no other reason than to back his ass, fuck you. You must be a white kid going the route of your parents, safe at home listening to your screw tapes and shit, on the low in the suburbs. I bet theres alot of that shit going on nowadays, a bunch of suburban fans who really dont know shit about the art of hip hop, but has all the new CD's and knows all the words to whats on the radio. You speak just like a follower, your following the majority of your white counterparts for safety and following hip hop just to be down it seems. I could give a monkeys ass what you feel, but when someone starts ramblimg trying to make sense of bush, I speak up. I come from a household that preached the same shit. I feel that black is black but I agree with some of it because of the work ethic involved. Many islanders have a hardcore work ethic and it translates to when they come over here. A lot of it comes from the hate that islander recieve from AA's. Some ilanders have been working since childhood for scraps so when they come here and see the oppurtunities that AA's have and they haven't taken advantage of it...
My mother always told me that if she was born and raised here , she would be a billionaire but I had to tell her that if she was born and raised here, that she prolly wouldn't have the same work ethic.
It all comes down to one thing "THE WHITE MAN IS THE DEVIL"
I was born and raised here in USA but my family is from Haiti. Does that mean I should get reparations even though my family has only been here for one genration ? Too much extra shit involved. Let the Jews do them.

SOMEONE NEEDS TO GET THIS CRACKER OFF THE BLOG
I never agree w/ what you have to say, but I find it hard that I’m def. on you when it comes to Jay’s new single. I mean whats really hood? How can you be gone for 2 years then resurface with “show me what you gotâ€. But on the flip side, the “Kingdome come†joint is pure crack, trust me b. it’s to all my comic book heads, if you pick up Kingdome come the comic w/ Superman, your ass will def. feel this song more, I mean he is basically saving hip-hop and NYC in the process.
And Yes hip-hop needs to be saved, traitors like FAT HOE, are defecting moving to Miami & tryin hard to sound like Ric Ross. On that Note We need a Ghostface Album, but w/ the way def. jam is operating I highly doubt that album is droping,…and why ahven’t Joe Bidden drop yet? And yeah if you like me & need something to get you by till NAS & JAY drop, please pick up that RANSOM mix tape, the dude is sick, Yo Jay Give my Nigga a Deal

that was an example of you all's logic for reperations... it is sooo out there whites don't take ya'll seriously. it's foolish reasoning for wanting free money.
@Tool On Deck- Ur right about haitians not really like Black Americans. Many family have told me back in the 80's and 90's mentioning that you were Haitian could get U killed in Brookyln and Miami. Can u imagine coming to country only to get disrespected by your own race??

the same type of nigga (or cracker)that fucks a pig or a sheep. From what i've allways learned, AIDS started in Africa when a monkey and a human hooked up (i don't know if they had sex or not, but i do know that AIDS can be transfered through blood). Monkeys can have AIDS without it having a negative effect on them.

I grew up Haitian and had to deal with that shit. My mother had to deal with it also. So of course we would grow to dislike AA because they have the social sec #. They have the citizenship. How the fuck do my parents come here and have a house within 8 years and you still got 5 or 6 genrations of AA still in the projects ? I was born and raised here so I never understood the hate until i got older. But believe me when I tell you that AA's instigate that shit all the way. Getting called "haitian bootyscratcher" and all that...lol.
Its funny to me now but at the time it wasn't.

I agree with that...NO BLACK ISLANDERS should even think about looking down their nose at African Americans, if they have a fucked up perception of ALL African Americans, that is their fucked up perception.
Just like I know made Haitians, Jamaicans, Bahamians who came here to America and are heavy in the drug trade and ain't doing a damn thing positive, so let's not look down on the other, because EVERY race has a fucked up element, it has nothing to do with skin color.

Now when you participate in the hate...
How does that help ?
Get the chance to ball ?
Its not even worth an answer dude.....
I was born and raised here so I don't hold those same values but since I grew up in the household I CAN UNDERSTAND IT. I don't hate on any "black"" because when it comes down to it, we are all black regardless if you are Jamaican, Haitian or what have you .
TOOL ON DECK, BK, IHADNOCHOICE
SEE THATS THE SHYT I'M TALKING ABOUT. WE ALL BLACK YO. WE ALL FROM AFRICA! FUCK THAT I'M JAMAICAN, I'M AMERICAN, I'M HAITIAN BULLSHYT! BLACK PEOPLE CAN'T EVEN GET ALONG HOW THE HELL WE GONNA GET REPARATIONS.
I'm from New York, I'm from ATL, I'm from MIA yadda yadda yadda. Ni99a give me a break we all ni99as and ain't none of gonna ever be president bcuz if we came that close they would have us shot down by one of our own like they did Malcolm in Harlem.
I'm afro-american and I get respect from every blackman, woman and child I come across...not bcuz they want to give it to me but bcuz they have to give it to me. Everything about me demands respect, my appearance, my education, my hard work, my gratitude my graciousness. The reason the islanders and africans look at AA's funny is bcuz we don't have respect for ourselves so why should they respect u.
Getting called "haitian bootyscratcher" and all that...lol.
Its funny to me now but at the time it wasn't.

My Favorite was HBO(Haitan Body Odor). Those same kids who said that are the same bum ass nuggas almost 30 pushing a '95 civic and still living in their mom's attic. LOL!!!!!!!!
The reason why ppl look on on AA different is because Immigrants came and see oppertunities. While you see the whiteman as a problem. I know Carribean people have a different way of looking at thinks. We have a can do attitude because when you're from the caribbean everyday you see black is position of power yout teacher is black your doctor is black so when we come to the states you dont ask if, but whats the procedure to get what i want and once we know the rules nothing is going to stop us. I read in the NY time last month the Richest County in USA is in Queens base on income and it mostly made up of immigrants mostly caribbean. We all remember on In living color when they do the Jamaican sketch with one person have 3-4 jobs. I use to work with AA. When they got pay the first thing they buy was beer. By Tuesday they're trying to borrow money from me. I could not understand it. They would have the nicest car and live in a dump to a caribbean person that is crazy.

I feel where you're coming from and we're on the same page as far as not blaming the white man, I think that is a cop out in 2006, but at the same time, you can't put the ignorance and lack of drive of a few on an entire race. That's like saying that all Haitians practice voodoo, which we both know is not true, but based on "perception" that would be true...it's all ignorance no matter how you phrase it.

Now its cool to be Haitian. We got like 6 floats in the fucking parade now ...lol. Niggas stay shooting videos in lil Haiti. I guess the ashy ankles are in now. Its not white people who were calling me haitian bootyscratcher... it was my own fucking people so how should I feel about that ? Explain that to me.....

Your the monkey. Take a look at the monkey in depth macaca; it has white skin underneath and brunette hair. Go back to your cave and let the intelligent black people talk amongst each other we'll call when we want your racist commentary.
AND..
if they do decide to give us reperations, it should go to schools, neighborhoods, community centers, black business and what not. Cause what happened back then didn't directly hurt us living now so why should the money go directly to us.
Slavery and poor education is the reason for the cycle of poverty and ignorance in our community. Money should go to correct that. cause u know if they gave the average nigga $50,000, it's rims and chains, but he still gonna be dumb than a mu'phucka.

Sometimes I can't keep up. But when I skim through, that kid Htownmike stands out above them all. Sometimes he "cosigns" his opinion under another name. It's so ridiculous.
Man I was checking through the threads and I have to say that all things apply in America. There are numerous points you can make on either side.
Everybody has there hand in the cookie jar and there will always be idiots on everyside.
Yes I think that there is systemic racism in this nation.
Yes I think there is systemic classism in this nation.
Yes there are lazy ass muthfucka's in every race. I have gone to school and can't see how you can be a trust fund baby and make all D's - your parents pay for you to go while I work hard to have car and nice apt.
But theere some people that no matter what you do will blame anyone but themselves.
But you don't have the right to decide who is who b/c of race or orgin of birth. Shit this land did not originally belong the white man or the black man.
And dropping in on a nation is so different from growing up in one. Growing up in a nation is another topic. You can never compare war wounds b/c everybody has them. Don't make my struggle any less relevant.
And anybody that don't think that the government tries to divide in conquer - seriously think about immigration. Hispanics just became the NEW MINORITY - there are more of them than there are Blacks now. See how easily they can make it about you against me. They have Mexicans that come here and they look down on Black people. They really act like our ancestors came over here b/c the Cruisline got lost...lol
Anyone that respects me gets my repsect. YOu help yourself and you try to make the system better for the next generation - no matter what color.
I grew up Haitian and had to deal with that shit. My mother had to deal with it also. So of course we would grow to dislike AA because they have the social sec #. They have the citizenship. You can be ignoarnt if you want to but you might want to read about the History of Haiti. While AA were being enslved, Haitians fought off Napoleon to stay out of slavery. We are broke as hell in Haiti but our country is just that OUR COUNTRY. We don't have to ask a white man for shit. We don't have to blame a white man for shit either. The country is broke and poor but we are independent. The first black independant nation in the Western Hemisphere. You need to read up on the tribes that litarally ate the French soldiers alive. No matter how you slice it, we all come from the same tribes in Africa. Yall were just to pussy to fight for your freedom so now you have your fucking handout for reparations.
@ihadnochoice
Are you really going to tell me that you have a fucked up perception of African Americans because of school age teasing? Kids are cruel and will tease you about anything they don't understand.
Secondly, I repeat, what Africans and Black Islanders don't realize and will never realize is the full extent that slavery had on the black family as a whole, it's not something you can explain or convey, if you don't get it, you don't get it.
Secondly, there are plenty of white people who have lived here all their lives who don't own homes, I know plenty PERSONALLY, there are white people that are addicted to Crystal Meth and neglecting their children and live in the projects.
AGAIN, foreigners have no right to look down on African Americans and to think they are better than them, because I know plenty of Black Islanders and Africans who are in the country doing absolutely nothing with themselves, other than taking up space and selling good weed.
There are fucked up people in every race, in every culture.
Y'all should never think you're better than American blacks, because to whitey, you're still just another nigger.
This is why Jigga is such a important piece to the hip hop nation....cause he is makin the "white folk" take notice that we can break bread and all be one....SO AS THIS BLOG STARTED...STOP HATIN ON THE "GOD MC"
@Tool
black people are generally lazy. you quick to talk shit about other races when if it wasn't for slavery your ass would be in some african country about to die from aids, war,or other diseases. STFU and go back to africa if you weren't supposed to be here and all of your family was brought here against your will then GO BACK!!! It's people that die trying to get here and try to make money the honest way by working any job possible but black people live in the pj's and work the system for free food, money, and housing while it's others selling fruits and flowers by the freeway exits and ya'll quick to talk shit and belittle those people.

That's why you are my girl! Dam you dropped that thread real proper.
We really are all family. No matter how you slice it.
Just think - there are places I could take you right now in the South that don't allow Black people in there. There are entire counties that don't want Black people to move there - still in 2006 - the shit is crazy to me.
Also, there is a group of blacks that have thrived in this country for years and years and years, the Gullah/Geechee nation that occupies the islands off the coasts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida...it's not about being better than the other, it's about respect and knowledge and for any foreigner to classify the Black American race on whole as no good or complacent is no better than the white thinking that all black people are ignorant, violent and drug addicted. It's still racism.

I just have a better view of it all because I was born and raised he but have Haitian ancestry so I have experinced both sides of it.

@tool on Deck- U should try doing some research on the Haitan Rev. 1804 was a important year for blacks in general, not just Haitians.

But I am not gonna sit there and let this dickhead nigga play my ancestry. Its far from ignorance. I've lived it and am still living it. I can't shit on ytour experiences as a black woman because I am not a black woman so i take heed to what you say and assess it from there. Take heed to what I am saying and make an assessment. I used to tell my moms the same shit about white people don't care what nation you are from because a nigger is a nigger intheir eyse but she told me this. We should have our radar up when it comes to white people, bnut we shouldn't have to defend oursleves against our own.... just like I am doing right now.

I said ARROGANCE not IGNORANCE.
I am well aware of Haiti's history and present state, I told you one of my close friends is Haitian, but she has never looked down on me because I am black, she looks at me individually as a person.
Do we agree that there are some trifling blacks, hell yeah! Just like there are trifling whites, Haitians, Jamaicans, Nigerians, Ethopians, Australians, all people for that matter. Don't look at a portion of a race and judge them entirely based on that. If we did that, we would have the fucked up perception that all Haitians practice voodoo and have a goat roaming in their yard. It goes both ways.

He/she doesn't have a fucking haitian or jamaican flag on their forehead. This divide comes from us... as do most of our issues. I already understand where yall are coming from.. try for once to understand somebody else's plight.
DAMN!!! BLACK PPL TALKIN DEEP, THAT'S WHAT I LUV 2 C. THE FACT REMAINS THAT IF YOUR SKIN ISN'T WHITE, U R A NIGGER N THEY EYES. BLACK PPL N AMERIKKA (wheather u r island, african,or AA)GOT ENOUGH ISSUES GOIN ON WITHIN OURSELVES THAN 2 KEEP HATING ON 1ANOTHER. I KNOW AFRICANS DON'T LIKE US. TRUST ME I LIVE N DA DISTRICT AROUND A BUNCH OF ETHIOPIANS. & I EMBRACE THEIR CULTURE. DURING THE CARRIBEAN FEST I BUILD W/ SOME RASTAFARI. & THE FACT REMAINED THAT WE R ALL LOOKING 4 A BETTER LIFE. THE WHITE MAN HAS ALWAYS TRIED 2 KEEP US DOWN WHEATHER U BELIVE IT OR NOT. & US HATING ON EACHOTHER IS NOT GONNA SOLVE OR PROBLEMS. I HAVE A LOT MORE 2 SAY BUT THIS IS A START. PEACE.
"AND I KNOW THE GOVERNMENT, ADMINSTER AIDS"(kanye west, and i heard them say)
THE KING HAS SPOKEN.
If African Americans Don't like this country or feel their ancestors were brought here against their will then leave. All black people do is talk about the motherland and how the white man is fuckin it up...well go back then and do something about it. You and your relatives were forced to be here and now you have the freedom to go back home. I suggest if you don't like it then LEAVE!!! Fucken tired of black people askin for reparations and shit. how about you go back to africa. Again, this is for those who do nothing but complain about the situation but aren't willing to do somethin about it. unite with each other and with other minorities and do something or STFU and go back! stop taking my tax money and using it for crack!
The majority of black in this country don't have anything because they are being bred that way. You have probably heard this before but:
Who brings the drugs into this country?
It ain't us.
Who brings the guns?
The public school system is set up for us to fail. My sister lives in a white community and her kids go to the local school. They have more resources than any public school in the Bronx.
Our public schools can't even graduate 100% of the seniors.
What is the percentage of kids that get accepted to college in public schools?
I don't know what it is but it is not over 75%.
The public schools don't even help kids with career choices or college major's.
We are not successful because the foundation that is laid is not strong. So we turn to the things that we can do best (Entertainment, Sports and Violence). This is also the only successful blacks that we see.
But there are many more. If we learned about these people then we would want to be more like them.
To white people the most successful black man is MLK.
i am not going to write a book but think about it.
and to all of you from the islands you are black too. Dominican's, Puerto rican's you are Black too. Let the Klan catch any of us and we will all be lynched. We need to stick together and become one instead of pointin the finger and saying who is better than who.

Give me some fucking credit N-Site....
I never looked down on anybody. I just asked yall to understand why islanders feel the way that they do. They were raised under a different culture. I was raised in American culture. I had braids for 6 straight years. Do you know what that is like to be the only kid in the family with long ass "vagabond" braids ? I got the sellout treatment from my own family. I don't even speak creole..... do you think that sits well with my family? I don't date haitian women... do you think that sits well with my family? The last thing they wanted me to grow up as was an AA... real talk. That just the way that they WERE and after being here for a while you end up giving into the ways and accpet people for what they are. I'm done on this because yall won;t get it until yall feel like it.

Either haven't heard the album or they don't know english
They only know what the single is, and singled that out
to be the meaning of what he is about
And bein I'm about my business, not minglin much
runnin my mouth, that shit kept lingerin
But no dummy, that's the shit I'm sprinklin
The album width to keep the registers ringin
In real life, I'm much more distinguished
I'm like a bloke from London, England
Jeah, you jinglin baby
See I go right back and I bring 'em in baby
Business mind of a Ross Perot, but never lost my soul
Crossed the line, I bought pop across the row
Then I walk through the hood, where they up to no good
Slangin them O's like a real O.G. should
Oh, he's good, no he would never sell out he's so young
^^^^ LISTEN TO THE LYRICS HOV SAID IT ON THE BLUEPRINT 2 DOUBLE DISC.... HE KNOWS WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING. HE KNOWS THAT YOU DOUBT HIM. HE ALWAYS MAKES SUBPAR/MEDIOCRE SINGLES but you know what??? He drops classics. Would you rather have awesome excellent singles and mediocre albums like most artists create or would you have a complete album with a few singles you can skip? I respect what Jay does. He is good for music period. He is alone as far as skills, album making ability, and flow. Diss him if you will, but real hip-hop fans can respect his lyrical gangster. You talk about saving New York. New York doesn't need saving. Hip hop needs saving and it WILL TAKE MAJOR EVENTS LIKE HOV'S ALBUM for that to occur. So stop hating, pick up a book, enroll in a class, work a shift, shoot some hoops, and SHUT UP and let the pros be pros.
Yea after In My Lifetime (which happens to be my favorite Jay album) he went real clubby...he's never been the God MC like he claims to be, when your great you never have to say it, and Ghost..YES!!!! the day Ghost stops dropping albums will be a sad day for hip-hop i just hope he starts to get appreciated while he's here and not after he's gone.
@Black Friday
I just got back and saw what your response was from this morning. You've been here all day and you're here 95% of time I pop in. I have other shit to do since YOU asked.
Now, the only reason I asked about Rock-a-fella is because you come across as a Jay-Z fanatic and some of your postings make you seem like maybe your X chromosome is overactive.
I make money from the industry which is why I monitor various blogs. You on the otherhand are in love with Jay. He's the President and you're Monica Lewinsky. Get off your knees and throw that semen stained dress away.

in order to claim to be the greatest rapper of all time, you have to be consistent in the game making dope music. Jigga in my opinion is ONE of the greatest of all times but the truth is there are several that could compete for that spot even though they are dead. Tupac and Biggie I think are at the top of the list. Everythng from Jigga's first album to Life and Times Vol 3 was dope. After that he just made ordinary albums and although Ima cop that new album, his first single after comin back is totally weak. Actually im dissapointed that he would use that as a first single.
Where should the focus be? New York? Get the fuck outta here.

H to the izzO - V to the izzA.
NY niggas is mad again, Oh that's a surprise. You fuckas don't like nothin'! A bunch screw faced angry cats, what the fuck is wrong with yall. Is it true that NY is too populated (Yall live on top of one another) the reason why you guys are so angry? I mean yall don't like shit no more. 50 stay killin it but yall don't want him. Pap got a deal and ain't broke no more so yall don't like him. You don't support ole schoolers like, Ghost, and Meth. Half of yall was mad that Nas squashed the beef with Jay. Jay killin it again and yall mad at his "single". A FUCKIN A SINGLE!?!
NY helped changed the game to this catchy hook shit and mediocre lyrics so when NY does it to prove they can do it better than the south you guys still hate. I mean really "Chicken Noodle" is gettin worldwide attention and it's for THE KIDS, but you fuckas can't embrace it SHIT! Jay did the downsouth thing Show me watch you got) with a much hotter and NY'esque track (thanks to Just Blaze) and yall still hatin!?!
So stay losing then we don't give a fuck.
I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND WHY WE CONT TO HATE ON JAY THIS IS THE REASON I JAY IS THE BEST BECAUSE MO MONEY MO HATEING.EVERY BODY THAT POSTED ON HER KNOW THAT JAY IS THE BEST OF ALL TIME HE'S ALBUM WILL BE 1 MILLION COPIES IN THE FIRST WEEK
Fuck that, I'm lovin the single. It's the same formula that worked for him in the past. A catchy, club single and then maybe a street joing or a meaningful song. the album is great and can't be judged on his single. Remember, you all base success on sales so he is appealing to the people who actually go out and buy albums...white people. Just wait til he's double triple plat and y'all will be all over his nuts again.
The new Jay single is hot. My question to those who think otherwise is: What did you want him to drop? The single is perfect. Every first single for a new album is supposed to be a "ta da!" single. One that makes noise. "Show Me..." does just that.
Hell, he just gave the East Coast a little more shine for a few more months...LOL! (I'm in trouble now....)
You gotta realize though....Change clothes was some bullshit to me but the black album was decent. THE BLUEPRINT (the first one) is still his best work to me. But i think this album will be at black album level or better.
all i got to say to jay is what tony yayo said to jim jones
BORINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
The new Jay single is not what I expected. When I first heard it I didnt get the same feeling I did when I heard his other singles from previous albums. I am a huge jay-z fan and I usually get hype off the singles(Although once the album drops I never listen to them again)I don't expect the single to be his best, infact I expect it to be his worst. The beat is ok but I think that Just Blaze can come with something harder. It's nothing great and Jay-z is so crafty that it seems like he could do something great and catchy for the girls at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I still bang that shit in the car. Then I heard "Kingdom Come". That was a lot better although I was still lacking that feeling I got from other songs that were released on albums such as the black album and blueprint 2. The bar about loosening up the tie was kicked in a live radio freestyle before. It's hot but I thought that I would hear something different. Than...I was listening to Leo G on 66 raw on XM radio...Leo G played a song called "lost ones" by Jay-Z. I remembered right then and there why jay was my favorite rapper. He talked about some shit that u always wondered about. He really used rap as a form of expression on this track. It was pure crack. The beat was outstanding. The lyrics and conent were pure piff. My point is, don't let the 2 songs leaked make u judge cuz we both know that u arent prolly gonna listen to them anyway. The shit is about to come out with is gon' be bananas. It's jay...does he ever dissapoint with an album?
Posted by: nobody at October 23, 2006 07:45 AM
^^^^^^ the same shit happen to das efx and bone thugs, every other person bit they style and made them less relevant,so fucc crying for hov, big was doing that shit before hov with the not writing, and cats been calling they selves "young" in the bay before hov, and saying yess!!!!!!! the problem with the game is yall give cats to much credit they don't deserve,is hova a legend fo damn sure, and you was right about the subpar shit, but yo when a person does the same triccs for years they will face burn out,and i'm seeing it with him,and i hate to say it,but a big part of hov's legacy is he has inspired future mc's to be biters!!!! and now it's ok in hip hop and thats wacc, remember NO BITING ALLOWED!!!!!! thanks alot hov yell
www.myspace.com/panhandoelrcorp
See that's the problem wit niggas they wanna spit 100 bars in they singles!!
It's not supposed to be lyrical nigga it's for the club!!
buy the album for the street shit, ass pipe!!
ya'll niggas don't see the international impact of that record, that's what the problem is, everything ain't for the hood,
jay has a different demographic than these johnny come lately mixtape rappers, check the bds and media base spins first week, then you'll begin to understand why,or do you niggas even know what that is?
when has jay not had an album where he didn't give the hood a couple? Never!
That shit is not the greatest song ever but it's the hottest shit on air by far right now!!
Hiphop is dead!
1 reason over analytical niggas that don't shut the fuck up. buy and enjoy the music!!

Jay-Z became a stepson to the revolution long ago, when he started braining Lyor Cohen.
Marcy needs a new Rec center "sean carter"!, actually Brooklyn needs a powerful voice like yours to champion its' fight against gentrification.
Enough about your G-4 , and your basketball team, how about giving back to the community you alienated a long time ago when you became Lyor Cohens' personal geisha.
There is no doubt about it, you are one of the flyest to ever rock a mic, but don't sleep on the fact that alot of us know where you really got your M.C. skills from!.....
Marcy needs you Jay, make a cameo appearance for thanksgiving and christmas, and give something back to the streets besides recycled Just-Blaze tracks.
Show me what you got is not one of his best singles he put out (change clothes was the worst)and definitely will not be bumping this in my car or home. I think Jay-z time as an MC is done and over with. He is getting up there and age and he can kick his feet up and do something else. I will not be coping this album when it releases. I don't think at all this album will flop because of who he is. I am disappointed that he put his album out before nas, young jeezy or fabolous.
shut up.
the song is not all dat but the video is great. best video in a long time.
stop hatin n relax. hip hop heads aren't the only fans he has to please.
Not for nothing but the nigga thats writing the blogs on these page must be
an NYC hater cause every time i read a NYC blog this clown is hating on a rapper! I aint gonna front jay's joint is not a street banger but it definitely is a club banger, I was at a club last night and the place went bananas when that shit came on. And i know you not saying that money maker is a better single than show me what u got!
Trust me when Jay and Nas drop their albums they gonna sell. The game needs these niggas they the blueprints of the hip-hop game. After jay drops his album you gonna see how many of these rappers is gonna try to take his flow and run with it. These niggas is what the games been missing thats why theres nothing new cause the rap game has'nt had its right leaders to follow and after the 4th quarter you'll see how many followers these two have.....
how can yall sit here and build up this man commin back and then destroy his return. the song is easily aimed @ the typical hip-hop consumer today: a trl,vh1,106 & park viewer, clear channel listener, and dedicated fan. this is about revenue people. u see all them beer commercials this cat got runnin for the football season, that's huge promotion for the album! fuck what yall want, this is about seeing a n.y mc on top of the charts @ the close of the year...wait a minute that's what yall want...but n.y rips his first single clearly a club single apart. the man gonna have some street joints too. but continue to look for super lyrical club singles in heavy rotation and promotion o.k!! just watch what nas does for the sales yall!!! this is big business people!
Rap is corporate now and anything that is corporate has to be sold to white people period because white people have to make a profit and they will never do that selling exclusively to black people. That's just the reality of the situation. That'a why Puffy, Jigga and them cats are wearing taylored suits and button ups in the videos. If you want some gritty, true New York shit, you better either go underground or wait on NAS.
Sometimes I can't keep up. But when I skim through, that kid Htownmike stands out above them all. Sometimes he "cosigns" his opinion under another name. It's so ridiculous.
Posted by: SOHH Reckless at October 23, 2006 04:21 PM
Reckless, please tell me this isn't happening. If it is, I'm done with that little fool. Get rid of him if he is doing that shit.
Please post this in the morning. Everyone that has passed that little fool needs to know what is happening. The old divide and conquer trick. I don't care if he posts, I can deal with a racist but leave it to the usuals to decide if they want him deleted.
Just a thought.
I told y'all the c-boys were gonna lose. they had no chance with that O-line. oh yeah, romo is garbage
Jay-z's new single is O.K. This cat has done it all so something like this is just 2 continue the saga...As much as I don't really really like Hov you cannot front that he has skillz..never count him out...On Ghost..Man this cat is one of the illest to touch a mic..HANDSDOWN but of course Politics and uncover MONEY control the radio so he doesn't get enough spins...If people were to hear his stuff more I am sure it would have str8 Platinum status. I my self am SOO SOO TIRED OF THE ABC RAP BS THAT PLAYS ALL THE TIME ON THE RADIO...If doesn't take any skill (Production & Lyrics) what's the point?
If ghost comes with that supreme clientele
shit, then its a wrap yall
Hov is old and washed up! Just sit behind the desk please! The new single sucks...it gets no radio play in louisiana! he could of done ALOT better!!!!!!!!!
Rasta Boi -cdbaby.com
Stop Hatin on Jay please.. To much hatin on this site
Jay Z is garbage he's always been. Stop sweating this chump, that new single is whack just like his fans.
Jay Z is a thief of ideas, basic hooks and style (stole it all from Nas). I only like that Reasonable Doubt Album and the Black Album the rest is trachhhhh. He cannot even rhyme with Game may I say. He is worst then ever. He should have never returned in the first place
You're all bums. This is show-'business', not show-'friends'. Jay-Z is a business man and a rapper, so he can spit some fire once he's covered those overheads (That's what Show Em What You Got is for dummies). Later on, he'll hit you with some heat, no question. But remember, he's an elder statesman in this game... so that heat ain't going to be like the little lies that young 'uns spit on mixtapes about drugs and guns... dude is dropping grown-man music, like Com did last year. If you don't like it, go get the latest wack-as-f*ck catchprase heavy joint by some fake blood. Balllliiiin? Ha!
Raekwon will be the next to go platinum....all that other sh...isnt classical sh....its bullsh...lol
I personally like the jaz single, "show me what you got". I'm a mature hip-hop listener. But some of you young cats on here take hate to a new level. if you ain't spending your money on jay's album then shut the hell up. you not losing anything by the radio or tv playing his video. just change the channel. you can ultimately see the maturity level in people that like stuff like dipset as opposed to solid hip-hop. To each his/her own. rock what u wanna rock and i'll do the same on this end. peace.
