My Opinion
Wu Tang fell off cause they tried to backtrack and recreate their old glory instead of continuing to develop and move forward.

They started out as grimey street ngz and then gradually became Mc's and started to lose their street audience
then Wu Tang forever dropped and ngz in the streets that didn't grow with their music was like they ain't spittin that crazy cut a ngz head off ish no more so I ain't feeling them no more. And they made the mistake of tryin to backtrack instead of moving forward and ultimitely killed both their audiences.
The other issue they had was production.
Rza used to be the illest producer and somewhere down the line he lost his touch. Worse his beat team wasn't that good. On some tracks they were great on others the sucked. Wu ain't been the same since. I got mad love for Wu they're the most creative and different group ever. But Every group or artist that tried to go back and retrace their steps and stopped reinventing themselves and moving forward did themselves in. Thats why Ghostface is the only one left standing cause he kept moving forward creatively.
I will say that Iron Flag was a tight album so go cop it.

I will say like I have been saying music is for everyone and everybody don't like the same shit. But I hate that their is no variety on radio or tv. All the new stuff is POP RAP and its good to have all different genres but sometimes you wanna hear some snap, some r&b, some pop, some real hip hop - And I think the Wu was superb but then I don't know what happened to that swagger. I think that the music world rolls in just like the business cycle does and right now hip hop is on the down curve.
I just listen to what I like and I feel Raekwon's pain but you can not dismiss artist b/c they found a new niche in music. You just keep yo flow and wait yo turn. That's all.

If you don't support artists then you really can't say shit about the current state of hip hop. Rappers do that pop rap because they know it well sell and the TRL audience eats it up, but that same audience wouldn't know what to do with a real MC's album.

DefJam should not have put him out the same day as the Roots, which I believe split some potential sales for both camps.

With DefJam, it's a business clearly-keeping the lights on. While I can empathize with the Vets' frustration over the lack of support they get from the label, I can honestly say that at the end of the day, some of that venom is unwarranted.
Some of that responsibility lies in the artist.

And I said this in another blog today, but when is the artist going to step up and be his own boss? After years of generating revenue, and branchin out and making your name a "brand", you still want to be under somebody?

Kudos to Ice Cube for droppin his own album when the majors shitted on his vision. So while he's approaching gold, he's going toward $4 mil in revenue from an album HE WANTED TO DO.

Why do the new guys get all the attention, because that hustle mentality is still in them, and the mixtape game already has built in fans. You can't just rely on what you did in 1995, step up or step aside, real talk.

They started out as grimey street ngz and then gradually became Mc's and started to lose their street audience

And they made the mistake of tryin to backtrack instead of moving forward and ultimitely killed both their audiences.
The other issue they had was production.
Rza used to be the illest producer and somewhere down the line he lost his touch. Worse his beat team wasn't that good. On some tracks they were great on others the sucked. Wu ain't been the same since. I got mad love for Wu they're the most creative and different group ever. But Every group or artist that tried to go back and retrace their steps and stopped reinventing themselves and moving forward did themselves in. Thats why Ghostface is the only one left standing cause he kept moving forward creatively.
I will say that Iron Flag was a tight album so go cop it. "

i will repeat myself once again, the problem with hiphop is the media, specifically the radio. If you look at Rock and R&B stations they have whole shows and even whole stations formats dedicated to the old rap and pop artists. Hip hop stations wont play your after its a month or two old (Unless your Diddy, Fiddy, Nelly or you got that payola money!) It make take more time but eventually the morons in charge will realize that some hip hop fans actually are old enough to vote and therefore may like to hear the old school stuff, (and dont give that old school at noon shit or any other off-hour show) alot listeners have grown up with hip hop and still love and appreciate it. Just like moms and pops love to hear thier old jazz records, I love to hear my old Hip Hop records....Once they realize this things will change ( and like everything else we do, we'll probably oversaturate the airwaves with it and turn everyone off ). Which is the other reason rap is sufferin', we overdo shit....We overdone mixtapes, we overdone joint ventures, the south overdid snap music, we overdid rap beefs (everyone beefin with each other thinkin its sell records!), shit we even overdid the crack game (which is good, cuz now crack seems to be almost over), and we starting to overdo the gang shit!! (which is also good cuz the sooner its gets done and played, the sooner our young soldiers can move on and progress!)

I definitely got love for all of the Wu-Tang! "Enter the Wu Tang" is definitely a classic, especially the joint C.R.E.A.M. Sheeit, I still bang that shit to this day! That was one of the very few groups that every member had lyrical precision (except, of course, the RZA) And all made atleast one hot solo album.

But I'm disappointed in the remarks that GhostFace keep making about the current state of Hip-Hop.
