Whenever I wondered why was Clinton impeached I always draw the same conclusion --

The Democratic rule was preferred by the public under the Clinton Administration and the 'law-makers' decided that the time had come for Republican governance i.e. "War-Time Politics".

To FORCE this transition they had to smear Clinton. Not smear him too much to spoil his legacy, just make it look like an unfortunate turn of events. Even then, it was still difficult to win, so they had to steal the elections.

Clinton gets no sympathy from me because it was orchestrated, he took the fall, now his life goes on. What I did see was that he was the president most interested in the 'welfare' of blacks since Lyndon B. Johnson.

Apparently New Orleans wasnt a concern cuz Bush didnt even postpone his vacation in Crawford, Texas...It's the mayors dumb ass fault too for not properly implementing evacuation plans and evacuating people a DAY before the hurricane causing hundreds of deaths to people who had noway out. The FEMA Director Mike Brown was a total fruad who should of never been hired so it was no surprise he waited so long to provide proper shelter and necessities for these people.

Im a Houston resident and Red Cross volunteer who was at the convention center and it was sickening to see how poorly organized everything was. Had to play our card though. These people were sleeping cot to cot without a pot to piss in. Babies had no diapers and formula being that those are some of the expensive, important things that are seldomly donated. Most things were yes provided by Houston locals and who? Toy R Us, Jason's Deli, Academy Sports etc....People walking around with signs looking for their children and parents whom they have not seen in days..

Yet when the Tsunami's happened in Asia, Bush was grinning ear to ear on television donating millions of dollars and hugging the brown child....but New Orleans??? He didnt think it wouldve been this controversial but when shit hits that fan he tried to find his backbone. Sorry ass Cheney even detered an Electric Power Association to divert crews to substations in Mississippi when they were trying to restore power in 2 local hospitals but hey that's not important when you can be the white man that put out the fire even though you helped light the candle. They're backing Israel up in their death campaign! For those of you that are shocked by this, you were never told the whole story in the states, just 2% of it. The American media has always painted an undesirable imagr of anything that isn't a W.A.S.P.( white anglo saxon protestant, the real people who control this country) as evil and unsatifactory. 9/11 painted all Islamic/muslims as savages unworthy of humanity.

The fact of the matter is the media in America can't be trusted because some of the most powerful people in the country have control over the media and only want the images and agendas they push on the news. That's why you rarely hear anything about Africa. Why? Because out of the 14 countries in war in Africa, 10 of them were supplied arms by the US and Blair, with taxpayers money. Most of the strong journalists are censored or ridiculed. Like I said, our power is in the media and in economic empowerment. We need to definitely get focused on those two outlets and quit talking about Bush. He's a pawn in a larger game. He and Bin Laden are friends. This is from someone who doesn't understand the politics behind race in this country. but let me break it down for you. This country started on corruption, racism, and greed. it started on using free labor off of the backs of people who were deemed 3/5ths of a man thereby they weren't considered human. This country was built with the promise of white supremacy (Eurocentricism) and political power to those who came from the same bloodline. This country was built off the backs of black people, but we're never acknowledged when it comes to these matters. The success of this country came from the influx of European settlers and European immigrants that would all be considered in the same vein as they would be granted with more opportunities than everyone else. There were never acts signed to make Poles, russians, and french american citizens. There were never acts to restrict them from voting, to take them to separate facilities, to put them in separate bathrooms and water fountains. Everything that was fought for prior to the Civil rights movement was for them, not for us. When independence came in 1776, it was for them, not for us. When there were schools that were funded from slavery money to be attended, it was for them, not for us. A good 60% of the world was built off slavery money and it guaranteed white people more opportunities than anyone else. Good things were coming after the sixties and seventies, but then crack cocaine ushered in a new era of racism against black people and a new ear of economic disefranchisement. There are very few things that black people own and solely have control of, and in order to progress, we must have something to hold onto. Black women purchase more beauty products than any other group, yet everyone except black people control this industry. It kills me when I see and hear young brothers and sisters bicker over property that belongs to the hands of rich white men that will eventually seize that shit when the property value is nice and low, and they will be tthe last to have stake in that property.

the music of Dead prez is about black empowerment and mobilization. If it comes off as "anti-white" it is not blatantly. It's a criticism to the politics of Eurocentricism in this country. I strongly believe that one of the multiple ways of raising the consciousness of our people is through Hip Hop. The best way to raise the consciousness of a people is through mass communications.

I am not saying that artists should change their whole lyrical content to be socio-political but let’s look at Jadakiss for a moment. Jadakiss made the joint “Why”. That joint rocked New York and Jersey and at the same time people were rockin to it they were learning because Kiss dropped some knowledge. By the way…why don’t you niggas yelling D-Broke ever give Jada credit for giving you niggas some knowledge?

Anyway, if the Hip Hop Giants just made 1 joint banging per CD that is soico-political that causes the youth to think it would have an impact. No, it would not save people as a whole but it would make a meaningful and significant contribution.

It’s like this I am a huge NY Giants fan…You are from Texas so maybe you like the Cowboys (That’s wack if U do…lol) …but before the Cowboys and The Giants can play some one has to manufacture a football, the jerseys; pads; the helmets, and some one has to cut the grass…all that shit needs to happened to play the game.

The American Government as part of its propaganda campaign loves to declare war. There was the war in poverty during the end of Dr. King’s life. They exposed to the stock market at a young age, they're taught to think business minded, their bread to go to college and its not a big deal to go(meaning their not the first in their family to go). Their schools are obviously better. Their taught by their parents at a young age the importance of good credit. These are things that come from their parents. This why I constantly get at our parents. Parents in the hood aren't guiding their children or building healthy open relationships with their kids. Alot of think they doing a good job by just putting a ruff over their kids head clothes on their back on food in their stomach and making sure they don't hurt themselves. Nga that ain't parenting thats baby sitting that not teaching or guiding. Worse alot of parents don't even do that.
I understand Gentrification but before you look elsewhere you gotta look into yourself 1st. Before you blame white people you gotta look in your heart and come correct. Our kids are fk'd up, whose fault is that society Nahh dog. Gentrification ain't the reason you child didn't go to school today. Or why your daughter got pregnant before 25. Why your son is running the streets instead of in a after school program. Its ain't the reason why our kids kuss in public.

I am 22 and I come from a fairly well to do neighborhood, but I am alos black. And I know there aren't that many of us in this country as there are white people. I know all about the numbers, the demographics, and everything. I know all about the histroy of this country and the world as well.

I hope I didn't come off as prejudiced because I'm not. the majority of white people I have met were cool and I didn't have one problem with them. I know not every white person is a racist or embodies racist beliefs. That would be assinine think just like thinking that evry black person is an uneducated thug, every asian person can't drive, every mexican is dirty, every italian is greasy, and so forth. those stereotypes are just that, stereotypes. I know Western Europeans enslaved Eastern Europeans (hence the word Slav), I know blacks enslaved other blacks, yadayadayad. But the facts are simple, this country came up with a foundation in promoting one race over the other. Hopefully you can't deny that about this country. Again, that's by shear numbers in comparison.

So don't get me wrong. I know my comment may have gotten under your skin, and that's natural. There are things in this country that every one of us are entitled to regardless of race, and that's a sense of identity. Something not too many black people have in this country (but judging by the number of designer clothing slaves, I doubt it isn't just them).

I agree with that. There are so many things that we fail to take account of, but one of the main things is that there are so few controlling so little. Like no said, you can't hold every white person accountable for the crimes of all other ethnicities. I still have those horrific images in my head of that day too. My cousin missed work that day, and she worked in floor 81 of Tower one. I've never felt the same since then and I knew that things weren't going to change for the better anytime soon.

I see us as a people. And the problem is that most of us want stuff for free. Instead of working hard and at least setting some goals, we expect things to just land in our laps. Before SEGREGATION, black communities were nothing to be played with. Black-owned businesses and schools produced black children who competed acedemically with other races. The black family was a solid foundation; not the fatherless settings that we see today.

All opinions seem to be covered here. So, I'm going to say this. Politicians will tell us anything. Rappers will tell us anything. They all want something from us. Be it our votes and money. I'm not one to tell folks what to do. But, instead of having prejudges about rappers and politicians, stop and listen to what they really are saying to you. We all know about shifty politicians. But, rappers, as we all know, rhyme a certain way, but live a totally different way.

I agree with that 100%. I go to the University of Pittsburgh right now. Over the years, I attended mostly private schools because my parents had the resources for me to attend them. As I really got to notice the disparities about race, I really took note to the extreme differences white people take towards race issues as supposed to black people.

The sad thing is nothing gets solved because one side feels their losing something, and the other side feels they have something to gain. If you look into it, you'll realize that the guarantee of 40 acres and a mule was never put into place. It was fiction. Simply, put black people when arguaing about racism and race want three things: respect, survival, and rights. They want to be respected and not ridiculed in a joke by two white people (just an example, please take this with a grain of salt). They want to have the access all of the resources that are given to those higher ups, and the want the right to it. That's what I've gotten from looking at the teachings of both MLK and Malcolm X.

White people feel that they are losing their priveleges in this country. And because they've had them since day 1, they're stuck in thinking that it should only belong to them. I've had many conversations with white people about racism, and most people have said that they had felt put in their place, that they were being connected with something they had connection to, or being unfairly labeled. I agree. I wouldn't want the same thing. But most white people don't like to admit how closely linked class and race are in this country. How black people suffered years of economic disenfrachisement stemming from laws to discriminate against them, and straight racial prejudice. Or how their specific place in the world was really a product of an agenda of racial superiority and dominace. And thus, we are that this specific spot.

The conversation about race will never stop because everyone has bought into it too much. Even though there is no such thing as "race" beside the biological aspects, the social norms and stigmas are still there and they will be hard to break. it will be impossible to clearly eradicate racism because both sides won't completely respect each other. I know that I respect certain individuals, but I can't respect a group of people that include people like the KKK who inherently want me dead. And it's the same from blacks towards whites. There are still going to be black people who question every white persons agenda and involvement in certain affairs involving blacks because of the things that history has shown to us.

People need to gain a basic understanding, and maybe things will getr better. I think it's possible, but it's up to black people to take the initiative and acoount for their own dealings and not place blame on white people, and it's up to white people to stop indulging in stereotypes.

Wowww I am so flattered but you are WAAAAAYYYY off. Im an educated indivudual but this has nothing to do with school, especially the schools that I have attended. No scholorship either. I used to be in all the AP Honors programs but quickly got bored with school and hardly attended my junior year in high school bringing my high GPA down to nothing. Got back up on my feet and tested right back in AP classes but my GPA was still weak. SAT scores and a special admissions essay got me into University of Texas in Austin but with tuition going up and my fear for being financially dependent on my parents, I got a job and went to community college and was a transfer student. I'm probably changing my major to nursing also. Im considering pre-law though so good lookout but I have a good government job(Homeland Security) that im holding on to.
My education comes from alot of reading and being involved in as you say meaningful things. There are many ways to derive knowledge other than school because I know alot of dummies with college degrees...shit even MBAs.

Most people see me and see a dingy young 20 year old and this does nothing but fuel my love for debating.

This is one of the best blogs I've seen in a while so I had to respond (I usually start shit or hate..for fun of course). And Banga whats good homie im from the Bean too (Dorchester/Elm Hill to be exact) and you where on point....Its all about how YOU raise YOUR children. All you have to do is go to a public elemenary school an observe (I use to fuck wit City Year back in the day..lol). Alot of people depend on that though, besides black people. It's just another thing that can be taken advantage of like student loans. There is nothing wrong with having that kind of boost to help you get back on your feet and achieve financial indpendence. It's just when people rely on welfare heavily to the point they abuse it that's really wrong.

Yeah, as fucked up as that sounds. It’s like when your parents told you to eat your vegetables so you could grow up to be big and strong. Well they were playing into the psyche of child’s ambition to be powerful when in truth they wanted us to eat our vegetables so that it would increase our chances of being healthy.

It’s a brainwashing that we must go through. We must wash away the self-pity, we can’t do attitude that is permeates our community and replace it with “we can do” philosophy that is rooted in economic development and spiritual maturity….

You hit the nail on the head.....well mostly. My parents tried to raise me believing that education is most important yet I still needed to know my duties as a woman. Cooking, cleaning, being obedient to a man. Being that they are from the Islands, these are traits instilled in them from small. Im a rebel so even though I enjoyed cooking and cleaning I detered from doing so to prove a point. Im not a housewife or a trophy girl. I want to work in the corporate world and never be financially dependant on a man because then I would be obligated to stay even when miserable. I want to be known for my intuitiveness and wisdom, not long eyelashes and good teeth. I gave up so I just do what I want. Most people can't see past what's in front of them anyway. So you commending my intelligence means so much more to me than saying im pretty. I try to be very diverse with what I read and my hobbies. It's important to know a little something about everything but if somebody gets fustrated with me and calls me ignorant I never dispute that, because in essence we are all ignorant.

My generation of hip hop heads (29-40) came to age listening to X-Clan, KRS, P.E., Gangstarr etc artists who choose to be progressivly concerned about the welfare of black people. I do have a few male friends and I honestly believe that our friendships opened their eyes to expecting more from a woman than the physical but most find it easier to stick to the effortless women but hey at least I tried. I keep few around me though, can't lie and say I have all these friends when in fact I can honestly say there are only about 5 people I know that I would consider friends. Im content with that though because I would rather have 1 true friend that a whole bunch of associates.
