I never really paid much attention to the fact that many of NY rappers- the good ones- rep from BK. I'm a Bronx (possibly the only one up in here). I have always had a major chip on my shoulder, simply because I walk the streets where this thing called hiphop was founded. But, I'm going to tip my hat to these Bed Stuy kats that have not only influenced, but kept rap alive. I have to say though, I'm thinking it's a conspiracy... maybe something is in the water...

Got a quick question though...

Does SOHH NYC have a seperate click called the Usual Suspects? MR HUEY, I only see 2 that are actual Suspects in your list... that is what prompted me to ask. I'm in and out on this blog. So maybe there is something I missed.

I admit I caught feelings, LOL - but why the separation. Why create a blog stating that lyricists from one part of the borough are better than the other. Busta rep L.I and East Flatbush. When Mob and Talib were BlackStar was hailing dollar cabs on Beverly Road in Flatbush for the first video wasn't nobody speaking of the Sty. Besides white people are taking over Bed Sty - you remember in Juicy they were at Clinton-Washinton...more white people are at the station than blacks now = not gangsta. Plus Marcy is jew land up the block.

The list of "true" emcees previously mentioned helped create and maintain Brooklyn's mystic. But how can anyone talk about BedStuy without mentioning M.O.P. Billy Danze and Fizzy Wo. They may not be the most lyrical but undeniably they are the streets. Back in the day, you could'nt play MOP in the club without somebody getting f*cked up. Too bad they havent found a label who knows how to promote them properly. That being said, New York's rebirth will begin in Brooklyn. New York is suffering from a identity crisis and lack of good music (on a whole). Ex: Chicken Noodle Soup..what the fuck is that about? Even down south niggas laugh at that shit. We sit back and watch groups like the Clipse put out songs we are more than capable of comming out with. Brooklyn its time to stand up but lets not hold our breath for Papoose or Fab to lead the way.

Your friend is right. The CD starts off as GABBAGE. After track 6...it gets a little better, but not by much. Even songs that are meant to be club-bangers are wack.

The best two tracks IMO are the singles, "Since they Wanna Know" and "Snitch"...which Obie should be pissed about cuz the joint "Cross That Line" of Rick Ross's album sounds just like it.

Both feature Akon.

I can tell the difference now that I'm doing homework on it between the styles. In my mind, the best lyricist I've ever heard is from the South Bronx. Hip Hop can be about any topic what makes it hip hop is how true are you to the elements of Hip Hop. If you listen 2 LUPE and let say "Dem Franchise Boyzs" (please no south hate, niggas) there is a clear difference and the difference is one is Hip Hop and is not.

I think that in HipHop has enough room for the good and bad. Even the ugly (snap music.) Some of the best rap songs have the dumbest lyrics. But, they still get it bumping in the systems and in the clubs.

Okay I gotta go b/c I am not in the mood to spell out what is hip hop and what is not hip hop today.

I have to disagree slightly with you. I have no frame of reference for DFB because I haven't heard them spit flames on anything.
