I have been done there 4x's since it happened and I have to go back in November. All our mixtapes be like albums anyway. It's just in mixtape format. I got different types of songs. I got a slow joint, I got a fast down south type of joint, I got a party joint, I got an old school type of joint. I got a couple hard joints. I try to get every, all type of areas.

This is the downfall of New York rap. Back in the late 80s and early 90s, New York niggaz did their own thing. They didn't try to make slow songs or party joints or "fast down south" type of joints.

NEW ORLEANS - No less than a half-dozen reports on the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort are being released to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the storm _ and nearly all criticize the sluggish pace of the response.

The reports document a host of problems, from the still-unfinished levees to the plight of small businesses and the city's continuing racial divide.

"It's a pretty bleak picture," said Minor Sinclair, who heads the U.S. regional office of Oxfam America, a charitable organization.

Many of the reports focus on the failure of federal dollars to reach their intended targets. Oxfam's report points out that although $17 billion has been approved by Congress to rebuild homes in Louisiana and Mississippi, not one house has been rebuilt with that money in either state.

A report from the Democratic members of the House Small Business Committee found that 80 percent of small businesses on the Gulf Coast have not yet received loans promised by the federal government. The Small Business Administration has approved loans in excess of $10 billion, but only $2 billion has found its way to business owners.

The report also cited massive delays at the federal agency, forcing some business owners to wait as long as 100 days for a decision on loan applications.

"These long delays have not only caused many viable small businesses to fail that would have otherwise survived, but has contributed to the slow recovery of the local economy," the report said.

SBA spokeswoman Anne Marie Frawley said late Tuesday that the agency has approved more than 156,700 loans, 52 percent of them to businesses. Money has been sent to more than 100,000 recipients, she said.

Frawley said that it isn't surprising that all the approved loans haven't yet been disbursed. Thirty-two percent of approved loans remained undisbursed a year after the 2004 hurricanes in Florida, while a year after Katrina, 29 percent remain undisbursed, she said.

Three reports found that the lack of federal aid disproportionately affects black residents and the poor.

In Louisiana and Mississippi, blacks are more likely to be renters than whites, two reports noted, citing census data. Though a large proportion of the dwellings destroyed by Katrina were occupied by renters, only a fraction of the federal housing assistance has been earmarked for rental units, according to several of the studies.

A report by the Mississippi conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People said the lack of rental aid will have long-term impacts on places like Biloxi, Miss., where 70 percent of renters were black, and Pascagoula, where 75 percent were black. A report by the Brookings Institution in Washington argued that with rents having risen 39 percent in New Orleans, the need to repair affordable rental units is crucial.

Compounding the problem is the degradation of such services as public transit, which are typically used by low-income residents. A policy paper by the Washington-based Leadership Conference on Civil Rights found that only 49 percent of the New Orleans area bus routes have resumed. Only 17 percent of the buses are operational.

"Many of the poor in New Orleans do not own cars ... so they are dependent on public transportation in order to work," the paper said.

Several studies said the lack of affordable housing continues to weaken the labor pool.

"If people have nowhere to live or if they can't afford to live where they work, it becomes difficult for them to go where the jobs are. ... The end result is that recovery in the struggling areas is being slowed, sometimes to a near halt," said a report by the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government and the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana.

Amy Liu, author of the Brookings Institution report, pointed to streets that are still choked with debris as evidence of the failings of the recovery effort.

"These still storm-scarred neighborhoods are a stark reminder of the magnitude of the storm," she wrote. "But they also hang like billboards, advertising that little progress has been made."

I saw the report and found the documentary on Katrina and government’s apathy and inactivity (up to this very hour) to be despicable, deplorable, immoral, diabolical, cruel and inhumane.

As I watched the documentary I saw shades of slavery; particularly with the separation of the families…that in of it self reminded me of the auction blocks in Jamestown, VA starting in 1619. As I heard the testimonies about people drowning in their own homes and corpses floating down the street I was reminded of the middle passage where we lost over 100 million of our African Brothers and sisters. Some people gave testimonies that corpses were left to the side of the road for days after the government did finally become active in addressing this unbelievable human tragedy. I was so angry and pissed at the total lack of government activity and over abundance of apathy.

Now, I have not e-beefed since I have been back and don’t plan too, but for the 50 cent fans; write that nigga and tell him to apologize for his defense of Bush and Bush’s administration handling of Katrina. Bush’s performance is indefensible and as a black man I am highly insulted by 50’s defense of this Bush on Katrina.

G-Unit supporters; this shit has nothing to do with 50’s skills as an MC; I have conceded that he is amazingly gifted and smart. This has nothing to do with his beefs with Game or D-Block or Terror Squad or anyone else. This has nothing to do with him signing Banks, or Buck or anyone else. My views that I posted a long time ago on Katrina I guess when I tried to repost it...shit wasnt working my way!!!....damn these crappy government computers!!!

Bush was soo fucked up for Katrina. The government was prewarned about the dangers of the levees and when the hurricane hit.

Apparently New Orleans wasnt a concern cuz Bush didnt even postpone his vacation in Crawford, Texas...It's the mayors dumb ass fault too for not properly implementing evacuation plans and evacuating people a DAY before the hurricane causing hundreds of deaths to people who had noway out. The FEMA Director Mike Brown was a total fruad who should of never been hired so it was no surprise he waited so long to provide proper shelter and necessities for these people.

Im a Houston resident and Red Cross volunteer who was at the convention center and it was sickening to see how poorly organized everything was. Had to play our card though. These people were sleeping cot to cot without a pot to piss in. Babies had no diapers and formula being that those are some of the expensive, important things that are seldomly donated. Most things were yes provided by Houston locals and who? Toy R Us, Jason's Deli, Academy Sports etc....People walking around with signs looking for their children and parents whom they have not seen in days..

Yet when the Tsunami's happened in Asia, Bush was grinning ear to ear on television donating millions of dollars and hugging the brown child....but New Orleans??? He didnt think it wouldve been this controversial but when shit hits that fan he tried to find his backbone. Sorry ass Cheney even detered an Electric Power Association to divert crews to substations in Mississippi when they were trying to restore power in 2 local hospitals but hey that's not important when you can be the white man that put out the fire even though you helped light the candle. These losers get panicked when they get caught up and start making poor decisions...Hilary needs to get that dem vote already so we can get shit back together.

Yeah, I watched parts of Spike’s documentary and really became angry. I am a student of history and I am aware of the many gov’t sponsored atrocities. Im not gonna lie, im way better with southern food than caribbean food. I can make it good but my momma is the all around best. People tell me I cook southern food like a old woman.
