Red Cafe Beats Papoose to the Top of the Game, Bringing Back the East

Red Cafe is now on Universal's roster. A lot of people probably know nothing about Red, but I suppose fellow posters will follow suit after this one, just the way they did with Papoose and Tru Life, so you'll be hearing more about him.
Pull any underground head to the side and ask which rising star out of the BK has the most lyrical swagger, the most mixtapes out, and the heaviest following, and you'll most likely hear the same ol' response: Papoose. But Red Cafe has cooked it up and served 'em well; it appears he's been holding enough weight to beat the "Underground King" Pap to the corporate cash.
I knew about Red Cafe's deal with Universal for a while now, but since Pap is still riding off the hype of his approaching deal or whatever you wanna call it, I figured I'd step in and point something out: With all of Pap's mixtapes heating the streets in the dead of winter and setting ablaze the summer scene for nearly two and a half years in conjunction with massive mixshow support, and DJ Kay Slay on his side to the death, how does the quieter Red Cafe beat him to the finish line? If it's that easy, this would explain how that horrible Lady Sovereign from London got signed to Def Jam.
These two cases, everyone, is an example of networking, connections, and the "short cuts" of the industry. Yup. No real talent, brilliant metaphors, or lyrical complexity present in either of these cases. Now I'm not saying Red isn't deserving of his new deal, all I'm saying is that PAP GOT BEAT. How? The explanation I gave HAS to be the only way, 'cause Red doesn't have HALF the support or mixtape clout that Pap has.
Speaking of Papoose, I'm beginning to lose faith. Jae Millz has said it, too. Jersey's up-and-comer A.P has said it, as well as Tru Life and every other rapper in NY: "I'm gonna bring back East Coast [or New York] hip-hop..."
Well where is it?! I'm trying to be a good supporter here, but I'm beginning to lose patience 'cause my support appears to be in vain. I seem to be the only one standing around like a pooh-put, and for what? Not for a good cause, but for a bunch of talk. I, as well as all of my debate folks at the job, wanna hear some REAL New York rap music. You run around on all these websites, SMACK DVDs, and whatever other media outlet there is talking about how you're gonna bring it back, but we don't see shit. We see Ghostface, but he's discouraged. We hear Tru Life's "This is the Life," which is crack, but mixshow airplay ain't enough. Let's get with the program, duke. All you cats' yap game is tight, but your actions are WEAK. A lot of you rappers have been talking real heavy with the "what I'm gonna do," but haven't done nothing YET. Whren are you gonna stop talking about it and DO it?

And papoose is fit for a glad bag or a hefty sinch sac you choose and the real KING OF NEW YORK would never crown himself the people would so dont listen to these imposters the truth is coming very soon....

First of all Red didn't beat Papoose.
Red only accepted a deal that Pap declined, maybe long ago. Papoose was going to sign a while ago, when sharades came out he was being offered $600,000.00 and now he is at 1.5million dollars.
Pap getting offers left and right, but he's not in a rush to sign, he's waiting for something better. Quality deserves Patience.

Every word of that statement is false. Red Cafe has been putting it down just as long as Pap has if not longer. Nobody noticed him on all them Cutmaster C tapes. He put in just as much work as Pap did,he just didn't put out mixtape after mixtape with the same material as the last one, (LOOK AT THE TRACKLIST ON ALL OF PAPOOSE'S MIXTAPES,THEY EITHER GOT THE SAME SONG ON IT AS THE LAST MIXTAPE HE PUT OUT OR HE SAYS THE SAME LINES OFF OF HIS OTHER MIXTAPES ON HIS NEW ONE), I must have heard that what the fuck is a papoose song on a hundred different beats and the same goes for that alphabetical slaghter.
Red been signed to Capitol for a while, all he doing is just switching labels like everybody else in the industry that's not happy with their contract. He really put in mad work for his deal, and so did Gravy, that's how he earned his deal with Warner Brothers.

Hate to say it but "the hater" was right in a lot of his or her statements. Real Talk is outside of the region aint none of these acts gonna sell. 1. The region aint supportive enough, especially since every other dude on the street thinks he's a rapper 2. The backlash against NY for all the years of hate dished out. 3.These new cats just aint that talented. Yeah Pap can spit, but his flow can be suspect at times and he really don't bring no personal draw or big entertainment value to the table in an entertainment driven industry. At first, you had to be from NY and you had to be on a major label to get noticed. If you wanted Hip-Hop, NY was the only choice you had. That is a big reason why the East Coast "had the rap game in a chokehold". Nowadays, we have the internet, CD burners, and independent labels popping up everywhere. People have more choices today. The South is running it right now because we revolutionized the "out the trunk" hustle and we're finally getting props. But in the future, thanks to the internet, we are about to get hit with sh*t from Arkansas, Arizona, Rhode Island, New Mexico, London, Tokyo, Africa, and plenty of places that you would have never imagined. From the interview on hiphopgame.com with Pap, he says he's had offers from major labels all of which he's turned down. He reckons he's financially straight so he's in no rush to sign a bullshit contract which does'nt have all of the right clauses in, ie. a release clause, image rights, artistic control etc. Red Cafe, who I was put on to a while ago, is reasonably tight, he probably signed a deal which is worth way less than the one Pap will sign.

As someone from New York, I don't think that NY rap will ever make a comeback. I heard some of Tru Life's stuff, and he used the same word from one verse into another verse, that's garbage. NY rap, as well as NY itself, is dead due to us not being ourselves (to me, Dipset is the biggest violator of that. I saw a video clip the other day, with some Cali gangs dissing NY rappers, mainly Dipset, and this dude from Grape Street Watts said "how the fuck is Dipset claiming they Bloods, but in that video Purple haze, or some other video, they walking around with purple rags on?????" I always thought Grape Street Watts were crip-affiliated). Back in the day, you could tell a Kool-g-rap record from a Public enemy record, from a Rakim record. Not now. Blowfly is the stage name and alternate persona of Clarence Reid (b. February 14, 1945 in Cochran, Georgia) who was a songwriter for many hit R&B acts in the 1960s and 1970s. As Blowfly, he has recorded numerous albums, mostly of sex-based parodies of other songs as well as original raps themed around sex. His stage name originated from his grandmother, who overheard him as a child singing "Do the Twist" as "Suck My Dick", and said "You is nastier than a blowfly."
Reid started off writing songs for artists including Betty Wright, Sam & Dave, and KC & the Sunshine Band. He also recorded a few hits of his own in the 60's including a song called "Rap Dirty" in 1965. Many hip hop fans consider "Rap Dirty" as the first rap song because in he talks in rhyme and it has rap (slang for talk) in the title.
Reid would write sexually explicit versions of hit songs for fun but only performed them for his friends at parties or in the studio. In 1971, he along with a band of studio musicians recorded a whole album of "dirty" songs under the name "Blowfly". Back then, no record label would release profane material so he distributed the records himself on his own independent record label, Weird World.
Blowfly's debut album, The Weird World of BlowflyThe album, The Weird World of Blowfly, features Reid dressed as a low-rent supervillain on its cover. Reid created this alter ego to protect his career as a songwriter. Reid continued to perform in increasingly bizarre costumes as his Blowfly character. The albums were widely popular in the South as "party records" in the 70's.
Many of Blowfly's songs featured his style of talking in rhyme which can be considered a primitive form of rapping. Many of his songs have also been sampled in numerous hip hop songs. After rap music hit the mainstream with Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight", Reid recorded a profane version of "Rap Dirty" titled "Blowfly's Rap". The song was a hit and helped the album, Blowfly's Party reach #26 on Billboard magazine's Black Albums chart and #82 on the Billboard Top 200 in 1980.

I'm talking about like Wu-tang, Onyx, Lost Boyz, Brand Nubian, ATCQ, Das Efx, Lords Of The Underground, BCC, Hit Squad, Def Squad, The Fugees, Goodie Mob, Outkast, Crucial Conflict, Bone. These all are true artist. No gimmicks, no so called movements. Just cats with their people tyring to get past the struggle. When artist stop worrying about money, stop talking about them selling drugs, when they ain't living that life and start worrying about perfecting their craft then the true good music will come.
