As far as what meth says there is some validity to it. I think at one point or another we used to look to the Source before buying an album. I started to realize it was all bullshit when I started seeing albums get 4-4.5 mics and they were average at best. The Made Men debacle really got me to distrust that shit, then XXL started having Interscope's dick in they mouth, and even hip hop websites are becoming watered down. The ill thing is that this is the same shit that occurs with other media-see the BET awards, and all the artists who won (some didn't deserve the honor) were performers on the show and immediately thanked the Head of Programming. No media is completely objective because at the end of the day A LOT OF MONEY IS INVOLVED, and that will make you do stupid shit.

I know this is off topic, but if you're one of those people who base the "quality" of music by Soundscan numbers, then Busta Rhymes did flop. He had the hype behind this album, and it didn't do as good as everyone thought it would.

If you're one of those people like myself who think Soundscan numbers don't mean shit, Busta didn't flop. He just didn't do as good as he should have. But by no means was his album a flop. The dude will go gold definitely. Platinum...maybe.

He may have a valid opinion about how a writers opinions can sway the prospective consumer from buying some rapper CD or it may be just a opinion among other peoples opinions that have contradicting themes. I tried to read some of writers breakdown of a album b4 i bought it and shit i found so many contradictions from its good and naw its bad. And in some situations i already had the CD and thought it was hittin and they diss the fuck outa it.
Basically all i'm sayin is to each his own or beauty is in the eye of the beholder; be a leader not a follower.
Just a lil invading thought too if he admits these writers can influence peoples actions couldn't this be applied to rap lyrics influencing people in the wrong way?
