Mobb Deep In-Store at FYE

Hollywood Hav and V.I.P. or, as you probably know them, Mobb Deep, ran up in the FYE on 56th and 6th Avenue on Tuesday night to to perform a couple of songs and sign autographs for fans who came out to cop their new album, Blood Money. While there have been mixed reviews of their G-Unit debut, some love it some hate it, there's no doubt that New York City still has love for the Queensbridge representatives.

Although most of the kids in attendance looked like they'd be right at home at a Chris Brown or Bow Wow show, I was pleasantly surprised to see them appreciating old Mobb Classics like Shook Ones' Pt. II and Quiet Storm. I guess there is still some hope for the youth after all. As previously reported by SOHH, longtime collaborator Alchemist was in the building to show support, as where record execs Russell Simmons and Kevin Liles, who also popped in for a quick photo op.

According to early projections, Hav and P are on track to move a little over 100,000 units their first week and will probably land somewhere around number 2 or 3 on Billboard next week. While I'm sure they had much higher expectations for their first release under the guidance of Curtis "Billion Dollar Budget" Jackson, 100k isn't too shabby for a group that was making records when some of their current fans were being born.

Damn no Shakeem, Guice...y'all slippin...

Regardless of what I think about G-Unit, if a hip hop vet can move 100k in the first week, that's still a good look for them...as far as the album....that's another story.

Get that money, I guess.

I still want to know how the album is? Anyone cop it yet?

100,000 copies is good no matter what the label situation is and more props to them...

^ SEE THATS A REAL NIGGA WHO KNOWS WHAT HES TALKIN BOUT.BIG CAV GET THE ALBUM U GONNA LOVE THAT SHIT FOR REAL

AHA U AN IGNORANT IDIOT AND HATER.THATS DAMN GOOD FOR A FIRST WEEK

The album is good. Still cannot compete with The Infamous, Hell On Earth or Murda Muzik though. As a longtime fan, I really didn't think the move to G-Unit was going to make a difference in sales (not a postive one anyway). They have burned a lot of bridges (mainly Prodigy's) so they will look pretty silly when their sales remain the same, which apparently is the case.

I copped the cd on Tues.
It's hot. It sounds like the Mobb , but 50 does add something. One thing I noticed is that "G-Unit" is only shouted out a couple of times on the CD.
Go get it.

naw they made their debute in 93 with that Hit It From The Back they was young as fuck, i do have to co-sign with chevy.g, im not a fan of g-unit but Mobb Deep is the shit so

What a disappointment depending on your perspective.

While I am one of the last dinosaurs out there that does not believe True Hip Hop has anything do with your ability to move units; it was clear that Mobb Deep opted for G-Unit to gain greater access to a fan base that shows it's appreciation of an artist’s work buy purchasing a CD from a legitimate retail outlet.

I for one was very critical of Mobb’s signing to G-Unit and as a fan of hip hop felt betrayed by them. However in hindsight I should be mindful that they were dropped from their last label.

Give 50 credit for signing them because I am not sure if there were a real bidding war for their services. Easily 50 could have looked the other way and kept it moving but he looked out for some cats that he thought he could develop a profitable and productive relationship with and where both parties would propser (although with these numbers look the only one who will benefit from this effort is 50 by using Mobb Deep as a tax write off).

In my anger of Prodigy and Hav signing with G-Unit I did not take in to consideration that this may have been the best deal on the table and possibly the only deal on the table.

I am not a 50 fan at all. However I recognize he is a unique person. Right now I see G-Unit in Decline but strangely enough I don’t see 50 in decline. It's like G-Unit is 50 but 50 is not G-Unit...you know what I mean??? Maybe not.

Using a sport analogy: 2 or 3 years ago 50 was the Magic Johnson of Hip Hop. If you were on his team and you stayed in your lanes you were going to get the rock and be in a position to not only score but dunk the ball. Most importantly for 50 everyone knew he was the star (Like Magic Johnson) and people wanted to be on his team because that meant they could to score and win championships (in this case the Hip Hop money, power and respect).

Now 50 is starting to look a little bit like A.I. He can put up tremendous numbers by himself but the cats that are with him can’t get it done; with the exception of two people.

Furthermore like the Sixers roster; 50’s roster has problems. His team looks old (Mobb, Mase and MOP), lack the skills to generate large numbers (Yayo, Olivia, Spida Loc); cat are not getting the rock enough to do major damage (Banks and Buck) or are rookies to the game ( all these new West Coast cats he signed) and must establish their presence in order to be an effective “go to man”. O.K. enough with the sports metaphors.

It will be interesting to see how these relationships evolve over the next year in this G-Unit camp. When things are going well relationships usually are strong but when adversity hits things become more challenging to manage. Spider Loc was next to drop which is a guaranteed flop but recently news has come out that Bank has been pushed to the front of the line. 50 needs a smash money making CD from his camp (other than hinself...thus A.I.) and soon or he is going to loose all that political capital he has at Interscope at least when it comes to his artists.

His worst case scenario could be to see Game become the chosen one at Interscope in terms of their HIP HOP portfolio. I know... I don’t think that will happen but if these flops keep popping up out of the G-Unit camp and Game does Multi Plat sells again …well who knows (relax because it is highly unlikely but possible).

I tell you what; this is going to be an entertaining movie that is worth watching over the next 12 to 18 months. Stayed tuned.

if they sold 100k that is terrible

NO THATS NOT TERRIBLE.FUCK KENNETH ACKERMAN AND ALL THEM OTHER RACISTS WHITE MOTHAFUCKAS

Games album did not get pushed back til 2007. That was "Detox" you dumbass!!

I aint hatin on the album, havent even heard it yet.

Tell you da truth, I dont mind listening to Havoc, but Prodigy is getting untolerable. Nigga's been given a second chance to make some real money and he wants to shit it away by taking weakass shots at Jay? Get a life, pussy, you're in a good situation, make the most of it.

This dumb fuck is gonna end up gettin dropped, Fuck Prodigy

Who ever said that this album is not fiyya need to check yourself in a mental hospital
Cause you are obviously fucking mentally retarded
The album is straight fiyyya

MOBB DEEP STILL OFFICIAL

nigga if they do 100 000 that's terrible... they will be over.. don't get me wrong I am a fan and I coped the album but I expected they do at least what yayo brought... man if thet don't do good they end up at the very back on the g-unit roster and banks with buck will be back on the number 2 nad 3 spot.

yayo sold more than 100,000 first week and still isn't gold

The Mobb Album is FIRE....anyone who doesn't think so wasn't ever a Mobb fan in the first place.

delete some of this bulshit

HOT GHOST ALBUMS

1. IRON MAN
2. SUPREME CLIENT
3. PRETTY TONE
4. FISH SCALE
5. BULLETPROOF WALLETS

SHOULD THIS GO ANY OTHER WAY.....

First off how the fuck, can they decide how many albums have been sold in the first 2 days, there's still more than half of the sales week left. They may have sold 100,000 in the first 2 days, there's no real way to tell this early in the week. Even if they do only sell 100,000-200,000 in the first week, who really gives a fuck, that doesn't mean they're less nice on the mic or have less street credibility, that just means there flow may be too grimey for mainstream america. I could care less about the numbers if I'm feeling the music. Every single one of their last albums should have gone platinum but didn't, that doesn't make me think less of them as rappers

If they do @ least 100k, that's great! I remember the 1st time Ive seen these cats perform, the held it down it was some party given by this cat from queens named Ray Diamond, then it was like some kind of fight!! in there however, it was off the hook!

I can only remember 2 classic from Mobb Depp, and to be truthful, they really have caught my attention since signing with Gunit, I mean 50!!

I would but there album just to show support, It's all about supporting artist from NYC., we need to show those cats in the south that we can do numbers as well!!

If everyone keeps hating on everyone from NY, then how can we manage our game? How can we look good , if we keep tearing each other down?

Cats can shake their ass to Laffy Taffy& So icy, but when it's been someone in the game since 95'we show them no love?

Fuck it, I say just bring back Big Daddy Kane and just warm it up!!

you just lonely truth somebody give him another hug

LISTEN, The album is good, id say better than amerikaz nighmare, theres just a few tracks that should be removed.

100,000+ isnt really that good 4 mobb deeps 1st week especially by g unit standards. i mean 100,000+ is aight 4 any1 else eg. bleek, fat hoe, d block, remy. But this is G uint man! With 50 cent backing people should be doin 400,000 1st week at least. banks done that numba in his 1st week.

If they sell less than yayo 1st week then they truly are FLOPS! i mean yayo done 217,000 1st week. if they cant manage that, then they r done!

If sales for blood money 'flop' then i reckon mobb deep are over! if they flop its a ONE WAY BUS TICKET to KOCH records offices!!

Mobb deep decline started at summer jam 2001, when you know, put you know what, of you know who on that SUMMER JAM SCREEN!

Peep that album out, track 4,5,6,7, (two hottest tracks on the album are track 10 & 11), 13 & 16, thats the break down, no Dre beats besides outta control remix, and only one alchemist beat, havoc stepped his production game up though!

YUP!

TOP MOBB ALBUMS

1. THE INFAMOUS
2. MURDA MUSIC
3. INFAMY
4. BLOOD MONEY
5. AMERICAN NIGHTMARE

PRODIGY SOLO SHOULD BE BETWEEN 1 & 2 ...
BLOOD MONEY STILL HAS THE MOBB SOUND BUT WHERE IS BIG NOYD..DID 50 TELL THEM NO THAT NIGGA CAN BE ON THE ALBUM....

Ahh, I don't know how to feel about this release. I heard the album about a week ago. I love a few tracks, but I just cannot get that G---unit shit out of my head. Do I support Mobb because I want them to get that gwop, or should I continue with the G--unit hate. I am in the South, the deep south, (georgia) and I have been around for a while. Southern niggas have learned to stick together and get that paper together no matter what. With that being said, I think I will try to block out my hate or to be honest, my envy of the ggggggggunit and go cop that Mobb. Too much division. 1986, picture me not buying Rakim tape because I did not like the label he was on, never would have happen, never ever.

Well I am hearing a very encouraging theme here. Cats and I believe G-Unit Cats finally are submitting to the idea that moving units has really nothing to do with producing true quality hip hop.

Unfortunately 50 con many people that sells is how you measure hip hop quality and success. Well now let's take this new G-Unit found humility and usher in real HIP HOP again.

I agree that the Mobb Deep Blood Money CD IS NOT WACK. Further it is HIP HOP. However its not at the level I need it to be but I will just settle for the fact that is hip hop.

To the Game supporters, if he moves major units don't fall victim to the same
kind of "he the best and is an all mighty God" just because he sold unit. Mobb's product althought I give it a solid C grade; is the first true hip hop ablum I heard out of this camp in a long time and they are not going to go plat so what does that tell you.

I am really excited that there is a glimmer of hope for True Hip Hop to return.

Can't be mad at them for signing with G-Unit. Cuz their original, "real hip-hop" fans who supported them for so long, were the ones who made them make that move, by not buying the real shit, I mean Everyone of their albums woulda went diamond if we stopped buying bootlegs.
Gotta remember they aint super-heroes, they do this for a living, I know if I worked at Exxon for $5.95/hour and I was 'keeping it real' and everyone loved me there, and Mobil offered me $10/hour, I would take it, so why shouldnt they?...
What I dont understand is how stupid they been acting lately tho. but I guess if Gunit was down with the streets, we wouldnt mind how much they kiss 50's ass.
Tell you what, I'd rather listen to them than any of that SNAPY TAFFY bullshit. So, Itd be good if they do good. I know if they were from the south, they woulda been platinum already.

HELL ON EARTH WASN'T THAT GOOD AT THE TIME... C.N.N. WAR REPORT WAS BETTER THEN IT SO...IT DOESN'T MAKE THE LIST ALONG WITH THE MIX TAPE THEY RELEASE...

Fucking sell out's fuck Mobb Deep Fuck G-Unit as a record label and a crew if u want to be down with them fuck u to Southside Queens

STFU SHAWN SHANKS WANNABE TUPAC.FUCKIN WHITE BOY

Shawn u dont kno what u sain yet bitch so keep yo thoughts to yo self nigga, and yea fuck yo hood to lil nigga

RESPECT TO ONE,GEORGIABLK,TIME WILL TELL,AND FROSTEDLEAVES.REAL TALK

GUNOT every saing it ok to for them to sell 100,000 it's not ok ,50 call in to 106&park and said his expectation of blood money to do atlease 2-4 million in sales so why is't ok for them to sell less than 50 expectation. p needs to take 50 dick outis mouth and learn to do a proper inteview,50 is to blame for blood money if it didnot do well in store. gunot gunot.
