Juelz Santana Breaks Down Beef with Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and The South

With Juelz Santana's sophomore album slowly but surely approaching platinum status, a film role under his belt, plans for a tour, and some big name collabos on the table it's shaping up to be a hot summer for the Dipset's youngest in charge. SOHH NYC recently caught up with Harlem's Human Crack in the Flesh and he gave us the inside scoop on some of the drama that himself and his crew always seem to find themselves in the middle of.
Boss beef:
After Cam'ron released his scathing dis record to Def Jam President Jay-Z earlier this year, fans were left wondering how the public air-out would affect Juelz' situation at the label. According to him, not at all:
"If Jay-Z is gonna come back with a record to defend himself than you know, that's neither here nor there. But as far as my business up at Def Jam that didn't really affect my business, like I said I make money for the company, I'm an asset to the company and that's just what it boils down to. Business is Business."
In addition to catching two bullets last year in what was believed to be a botched car jacking, Cam also ended up with a violation from his probation officer after it was revealed that he didn't obtain permission to leave the state and travel to D.C. Although it was previously reported that he was facing a 30 day sentence for the violation, Juelz told SOHH that it was actually reduced to a weekend and that Killa has already served the time and put the issue behind him.
Regional beef:
Recent comments by artists from New York and The South have been sparking regional beef, but according to Juelz there's room for everybody:
"The South is popping right now, you gotta respect it, you just gotta understand your space in the game and there's room for everybody."He continues:
"Hip Hop is rotating right now, it's like a circle and the South is where it's at right now. We had it for a long time, so you know, I ain't mad."
And why should he be mad? the well travelled M.C. has a long history of working well with Southern artists and in 2006 he has no plans to switch up his M.O. Although conflicting schedules and skyrocketing careers have slowed the recording process down considerably, a joint album with ATL's own lyrical crack dealer Young Jeezy is still in the works, and an upcoming mixtape with a certain former Hot Boy should be hitting the streets shortly:
"Yeah Lil Wayne is my dude, Me and Wayne got a mixtape coming out called "I Can't Feel my Face" which is [going to be] retarded."
At the end of the summer Weezy and Juelz will again join forces along with two of the hottest names in R&B - Chris Brown and Ne-Yo - for a nationwide tour.
Media beef:
Another widely reported incident that Juelz found himself connected to was the recent shooting of Denver Nuggets guard Julius Hodge on the highway after a concert. While some media outlets zeroed in on the fact that Hodge was leaving a hip hop show and had just met with the rapper when the incident happened, he assured SOHH that the story was being blown out of proportion and as far as he knew it was a simple case of road rage.
"The story I heard later and this is from him, was that he was on the highway and he must of cut some dudes off and I guess they tried to roll down their window and say something to him and he rolled the window back up more or less on some I ain't trying to hear it. I guess them guys you know, they was kinda upset about the situation so they did what they did. I don't even think the guys knew it was Julius Hodge."
Crew beef:
The Diplomats have never been a crew that was afraid to address drama in a straightforward way, but some recent lines from members J.R. Writer and Hell Rell have been interpreted as subliminal shots at the G-Unit crew and have led many to wonder if the two factions are on a collision course with each other. When I asked Santana about it, not only did he say he hadn't even heard the lines in question, but that as far as he knows there is no beef brewing between his team and 50 Cent's squad:
"I don't think so because like in all actuality if it's gonna be on with a crew like that we ain't gonna sneak attack, we gonna plan that out thoughtfully and we gonna do it. But right now, we ain't really even thinking about that, they doing they thing and we doing our thing, you know what I'm saying."
Meanwhile, his team is making some big moves of their own with the release of the latest Dipset compilation album "Cam'ron Presents Duke Da God: The Movement Moves On", and their straight to DVD film "Killa Season". While he has no illusions of the film winning an Academy Award any time soon, he says that, as with all of the Diplomat's projects, it's something they put their hearts into and compared it to a 2006 "Bout it, Bout it", Master P's straight to dvd hood classic.
So the only beef there is, is between Jay and Cam. Wow, thanks for the update.

BigCav, I got that its hot I actaully think it's they're best since the Infamous. I was a little worried they wouldn't have that same Mobb sound but its mad grimy. Hav produced like 90% of the album. It's tight....no doubt.
Theres a couple misteps where they seem to be making cross over hits but only like 2, 3songs. It's okay cause the need a few commercial hits to get more world wider attention. For Real yo it's vintige Mobb Deep. I'm impressed. I hate how haters want Mobb Deep to fail what the fuk I mean these two are legends and Blood Money is a real good CD. best so far this year IMO. TI did his thing too! If the question is did they keep it Mobb the answer is still Infamous.
