For a couple of weeks now rumors have been circulating that President Carter had blessed the boy Rick Ross with a verse for the remix to his breakout single, Hustlin', and that on that verse Jay was talking mighty greasy about a certain Harlem Diplomat who objects to his choice of summer footwear. Well, yesterday the song leaked and sure enough the same guy who once claimed that he doesn't respond to subliminals, had some a few subliminals of his own for that ass:

The verse continues with a reference to his part ownership of the Nets, a comparison of his age to a Kilo, and a proclamation of his status as a living legend (I'm a walking memorial). So the verse is pretty much what I think we all expected from Jay: no names are mentioned, a couple of points are addressed, haters are brushed off his shoulder and he keeps it moving.
Some poor misguided souls have suggested that Jeezy, who also appears on the track, outshined Hovie with his verse, as if that is actually possible. Let's be real, Jeezy is a great entertainer and a talented guy, but the chances of him ever out rhyming Jay in our lifetime are slim to say the least. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, I just know that it damn sure didn't happen on this song.
The one thing about this track that throws me off, is the fact that Jay let it leak a couple of days after the release of Cam's album, which I would think will only help boost his first week numbers. Knowing Cam, who had a verse written addressing his D.C. shooting within a matter of days, I'm going to go ahead and predict a response by the end of next week at the latest.

Jeezy did have a better verse than HOV - Jay-Z's verse was lackluster...not a #23 jersey status 16 bars, more like #45. I like the "we down resort to violence...we on resorts and islands" line but generally - I'm unimpressed and Jigga being on the song does nothing for Ross, Ross already had a hot joint it's just more Jay-Z shameless self promo and bragging, rubbing in he fact that he's above people now and amongst the elite.
