I hear you. I dont listen to radio anymore. I actually work for a certain Satellite radio company and havent listened to regular radio since. I had to go home to Chicago and went back to regular radio for a week. It damn near killed me to listen to the same 3-4 songs. If you get a chance, try satellite. The blog writers and the users always leave out important facts that shape the picture. Here are a few updates so you guys know the big picture.

1) Game is no longer on AFTERMATH and is no longer affiliated with Dr.Dre. He has no support from Dre and lost his Cali support.

2) Eazy wasn't getting any airtime because he didn't have real support so he got dropped from his label. 50 is picking him up to reunite the Eazy bloodline with Dre and take advantage of Game losing Compton support. Eazy might not sell millions but he accomplishes the goal of getting rid of Game and so does Spider Loc. Also Eazy is Crip so it fits G-Unit being all Crip. FYI: Other members of G-Unit are Crip to and have always been.

Basically to the people saying G-Unit is dead doesn't understand how the music business works. G-Unit Records is an official label now. They don't need every artist to sell 10 million records. For every million sold worldwide G-Unit Records is making over 10 million dollars. Yayo made 10 million for 50 and a few mil for himself when you include touring.

Do you think everybody on Interscope or Def Jam or any record label goes platinum? Hell no most of them flop but the company still makes money. 50 is smart enough to know that NO rappers are going platinum anymore except around 4-5 of them on a regular basis. So by signing more people and at least getting them to sell 1 million worldwide he guarantees 8 or 9 digits a year for G-Unit Records.

Rocafella is officially allied with G-Unit now(which basically means all of Def Jam is) and so is BME(Lil Jons shit). There is no money being made anywhere without G-Unit being a part of it. So if G-Unit is dead then all of the music industry is dead because THEY MAKE THE MONEY.

You guys are so busy hating that you miss the big picture. When 50 says you won't eat if it's without the unit it's true. Learn how things work. Of course it's not the same numbers G-Unit is use to but I bet you don't even realize 50's album sold 10 million AGAIN(5 million here and 5 million around the world). I am usually yelling until my lungs pop out that the obsession with 50 and Game on this site is trite and unprofessional and really dismisses the ideal of principled unbiased journalism. Normally SOHH offers very slanted editorials. However, I do think that in this case the writer makes some valid observations. Granted his observations are made with a certain glee that you can detect in the spirit of writing: I do think his points are strong.

However, what I would like to see a real interview that does not solicit confrontation and conflict with other hip hop artists, but one that provides an intimate look into 50's business philosophy. My reaction to the possible signing of Lil Easy is basically one of no reaction. I don't know what impact he will have on G-Unit, the west coast, and the rap industry at large. Other than the name recognition, which he has from his father, and his problem with Game (which more than likely his disagreement with Game reached the surface because of Game's name and not Lil Easy E), I know exactly nothing about him and I don't have an appetite to know anything more than I already know.

The question that needs to be addressed from a business perspective is how much expansion does G-Unit plan to engage in; and what will be the breaking-point (if there is one) before it has a negative impact on 50's rap conglomerate and empire. Those individuals who study business and economics know about the law of diminishing returns. This is a business and economic concept which in laymen terms means the more you add of something the less of a return you will you get back from it. According to my count (and I am sure my count is not accurate) 50 has signed 11 people with the potential of three more artists to be added to the roster.

50 clearly have a business model that is one of expansion and diversity. Dr Dre employs a retrenchment (cut back any artist who proves not to be a revenue generating powerhouse) business philosophy or model that has been highly successful. What is it that 50 know that others don't know; or is it that others know and 50 doesn't know?

What message is 50 able to give to Artist after Artist that not only make the artist feel a great deal of euphoria by being associated with 50 and G-Unit but will immediately engage in any confrontation that the CEO assigns to the new artists. In addition, the newly signed artist will willingly yell from the mountain top "I am loyal to 50. 50 is the boss. He is superior and I am inferior and if you want problems with me speak ill of my boss." The thing that is amazing to me is to watch 50 become the very white man that he has learned from and now emolliate better that any other Negro in the business. One also has to acknowledge his masterful ability to be a psychologist. 50's ability to manage his artists' psychology to such a degree where as there is not any inner turmoil in the organization, is amazing. In most organization there is jockeying and envy amongst the various fractions within an organization. Further, the bickering is normally never able to escape the eyes of the public. The media are such vouchers that the public always here about conflicts. However for G-Unit (other than The Game situation) you never hear about these kinds of activities within this organization (Within G-Unit I am saying; not their organizational disagreements with perhaps Aftermath and definitely with Black Wall Street).

I guess what I am saying is that the 50's story for me is not his music. I really think he is mediocre as an artist but his business practice, philosophy and psychology is what is intriguing. As for me, I see his current business philosophy as a recipe for complete a disaster. However, I also recognize that this brother is smart and probably has a greater business plan under his sleeve. The other thing is that 50 is a brilliant proven business man where as I am a mathematician, statistician, social researcher and as many of you know by now, a black nationalist with some Pan-Africanist tendencies. I respect his natural business IQ, which is exceptionally high.

Further, I can think of several reasons why I would not sign with G-Unit. The first is you immediately loose creditability with the hard core hip Hop fans. I think the G-Unit fan base probably consist of 40 % hip hop novelists (50's story caught their eyes and so they just sort of support him because of his testimonial but can take Hip Hop or leave it alone) and 45% hardcore hip hop heads (They love and honors the tenets of hip hop and honestly and truly believe 50 is what Hip Hop is all about) and 15% others (Basically they think 50 is sort of hot; he is mainstream; He is America's tough guy therefore he is my guy).

I think there is a majority of HIP HOP HEADS who think 50 has betrayed the art and anyone who signs him is obviously a slave to his money and therefore should not be respected. Unless there is a tremendous Buzz for the artist the chances of dropping within the first 2 to 3 years of you're signing is not good. And by signing with 50 if you were to decide to leave G-Unit, 50 can pretty much destroy your reputation and totally eliminate the prospect a having a career in the rap industry. Game is the exception because he has Dre and he is a great talent. He is also highly controversial and controversy sells.

I digress; however, given the various dynamics I would be very interested in seeing 50's vision. The last point of intrigue is: With Dre always having been able to keep the corporate Masters happy at Interscope by cutting any and everyone who does translate into large dollars; how much patience will 50's Interscope masters have with him. Given 50's overall track record I believe Interscope will be very patient with him. As for his artists; well that is another story.

Wow, real talk. If Aftermath dropped multi-platinum highly controversial Game, with a movie on its way out, that would be really interesting. This would make me question the business intellect at Interscope more than ever. If this were to happen ( I have unwavering respect for real talk but just can't see it happening given the tremendous greed of the white man) I would imagine that a number of reputable organizations would engage in a bidding war for Game's services. Just as I predicted a month ago, this whole saga will be very interesting to watch in the next 18 months.

I think Easy is one of the most important individuals in the history of Hip Hop. He almost by himself ushered in West Coast Hip Hop so his importance to Hip Hop can't be underscored. However, many people who followed Hip Hop back then will tell you that D.O.C. and Ice Cube wrote most of Easy's rhymes. In fact if you listen to Easy's ablum and the D.O.C.s ablum you can tell this to be the case.

The other point that should be considered is once Cube, DOC and Dre left Easy's camp he was a largely ineffective and ignored as an artist. If it was not for his conflict with Dr. Dre and Suge Knight he would not even been included in Hip Hop conversations in the early 90's. This is not to be disrespectful but truthfully, he was not Tupac's equal as an Hip Hop artist.
