No sales don't make an album great but the major labels will drop you if your album doesn't sale. I think a 4th quarter release for Jada is a no-no. Thats when the big dogs release their albums. He probably doesn't care though. Interscope needs to let the Lox go so we can't get more music from them.

Jada had one record with moderate commercial success (the Why song). Overall, he FAILS to make records that generate significant sales. Yet, Jada still demands the same royalties, advance money, publishing and promotion that he received back in Bad Boy's heyday.

This is not going to work at the major labels. Making albums cost money. If your favorite rapper does not make his own beats, sing his own hooks, and arrange his own songs, then the label has to pay for outside talent.

Interscope knows that Jada's talent is seriously undervalued. This is the reason they are making it extremely difficult to leave. Who wants to see someone formerly signed to their label blow up on a competitor's? Every major label plays this game. Atlantic did the same thing with Fabolous until S. Carter bought out his contract to move him over to Def Jam.

Rap lesson 101 - Major labels need major sales.

50 can run his mouth at Interscope because he keeps sales up and shareholders happy. You make not like him or his crew (I listen but not a fan), however, his albums exceed expectations.

Bottom line, battle rapping, mixtapes, and street cred alone are not helping Jada's music career. He's a great emcee but a poor music business man. Furthermore, most record companies don't know how to market him. How do you promote a Jada album? Who do you put him on tour with? Of course, his ego makes all these questions more difficult to answer for the people investing time and money into him.

The problem with NY is that we do not support our artist we bootlegg them- The Lox have stayed on the mixtape circiut too long. After being in the game for more than ten years these cats are still having label problems.

It is not about switching his style. But, he should not have to be on an R&B joint just to get radio play. As a fan, you should want to hear your artist on the radio because those radio spins set up tours, appearances, and other stuff. It ain't about a nigga going pop.

50 puts out artist with 25% Jada's talent yet the G-Unit camp is all over the radio. I'm from the South and the stations down here still play old G-Unit. The same goes for in the clubs.

It bothers me to see how many people post absolutely ridiculous comments, that ultimately have no bearing on the matter at hand. I am now formally requesting that anyone who wants to be a part of these discussions should at least have a point and an argument that is A) debatable; B) intelligible--that's able to be understood relatively clearly, for all you knuckle-heads out there; and C) something other than "Fuck you haters" or some cyber-thug gibberish, it's not cool and neither are you, you fire-walled douche-bags.

Moving on, I am so glad to hear that Kiss is going to drop a new album soon. From the beginning, Kiss has been one of my favorite MC's with his pungent lyrics, witty 1-2 punchlines, and depth of content that not only leaves you thinking, but wanting more as well. And while he may not float like a butterfly, he sure as hell can sting like a bee. One of my favorite things about him is that despite his failures and successes, he has done nothing but improve himself as an artist. Another thing that I feel separates him from other "artists" of today is that he is probably one of the most realistic and down-to-earth in terms of lyrical content, and it's not like I'm just sayin that cause I want it to be true, either, listen to him speak, homie tells it like it is.

He is also very original, it's hard to confuse him with any other MC because his whole sound is so unique.

As I said in the Talkin Videos blog on "Best Friend", 50 is a marketing genius, he had all this planned down to a penny. 50 knew that all the controversy would help him sell records, which is all he cares about. He has become so greedy that he has lost all sense of shame, he didn't care if Kiss absolutely annihilated the last of his wavering street credibility, all he cared about was capitalizing on it.
