DJ Premier Working With Pop Princess, Christina Aguilera

By now you may have heard that New York production god, DJ Premier, will be collaborating with Christina Aguilera of all people on a whopping 5 tracks for her upcoming album. When I first heard about this unlikely matchup, I was a little shocked, but mostly curious as to why one of hip hop's most sought after producers would ever bother with a project so far out of his depth. Around the same time, he announced that he would also be contributing heavily to Nas's next album, and the prospect of more incredible music from those two made a pop side project that much easier to swallow.
Fast forward a couple of months and now Nas is signed to Def Jam, and Jay-Z has announced that he will be "helping" Nas with his debut for the label. I'm sure that Jay knows what Premier and Nas are capable of, but as somebody who now has to think about the bottom line, I'm afraid he may lean more towards the big name producers of the moment like the Kanye's and Just Blaze's and allow Premo to get lost in the shuffle. While I don't think anybody doubts that either of those two would work wonders on a Nas album, I think it would be a crime to not take advantage of what Premier brings to the table.
I think this is a good move on Premieres part because hes expanding his horizons, setting more goals for himself... This man has some ambition which is lacking in todays african american society.

Yeah I agree Just Blaze is overhyped but he has more fire beats than average shit. We might see Preme have a big 2006! I am waiting to see how this unfolds.
This just shows why Primo is the most respected in the game. he can switch it up like this. I hate Christina Aguilera with a passion, but if Primo can come with some hot shit, I'll buy the 12" for the instrumentals.
Even if Nas has to contend with Kanye's and blaze's production, he will still make a classic album. It will sell, mainly because hip-hop is so stale right now than anything with substance can hold its own.
