Actually, JD Killa, hip-hop is inherently political. It began as an outlet for young disenfranchised African-American youth to express themselves and communicate what was going on in their neighborhoods and their lives -- A perspective not accurately portrayed in mainstream media then or now. We used it to relay all kinds of political messages. We spoke about teen pregnancy, drugs destroying our communities, racial issues ... That's all politics ... issues ... Chuck D once called rap "the Black CNN." It was political from the beginning.

I'd like to think religion and politics to be two separate entities however. And certainly, it can't be argued that faith in a higher being isn't deeply rooted in the Black experience. That reaches back further than church on Sunday, or negro spirituals in the field, but even to the beginning of time, as we are created in His image.

If one can't speak for Christianity, or Islam, or whatever element, belief or practice is close to one's heart in hip-hop -- a form of music, and a culture designed by Black people for Black people because we could not be heard another way -- then where?

Keep doing God's work...and in it you will be richly blessed. Reading this post made my day!

NOPE. See...that is YOU..another man or woman, looking at another man or woman...and then making your decision about what you will and won't accept from God as truth!

Get your eyes off man. Get your eyes off of "church" (church ain't a buildin...but I ain't sure ya'll ready for me to speak on that yet) and get your eyes on The King.

Christ walked earth. Fact..it's in history books. Christ was crucified. Fact...it's in history books. Christ was not in the tomb on the third day. Fact...it's in history books. There you go...that's backed up by MAN! Now...YOU sort out the issue of whether or not YOU believe He is God! Even other religions that don't profess Jesus as King do not dispute the fact that He walked earth. Many of them go as far as to say that He was a prophet..a might man of God. Then yet they contradict themselves and deny Him as Lord. They believe He was a prophet, but ignore the fact He claimed to be the Messiah. Oh...he's a lying prophet?

To the cat that posted his name as "Jesus"....I encourage you to get into the Word more. Jesus never preached religion, and from your post...you contradict yourself brotha. Saying you believe in Christianity yet you don't believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven is not believing in Christianity.

Facts are that God gave us the 10 Commandments. Back then (and even now), no one could keep the 10 commandments, therefore they were not pleasing to God. God is perfect....God will not be in the presence of sin. In them days, the priests had to make sacrifices to God for their sins.

God sent His only son Christ to die for all sins past, present and future..once and for all. It is done. And God did not do that too condemn, He did that because He loved us...because He knew that sin was our nature. Without the sacrifice, we could not be a part of God's goodness.

All we have to do is accept the sacrifice of Christ on behalf of our sins, acknowledge that we are sinners and ask for forgiveness of your sins, and ask Christ to come into your heart and save your soul. Following and believing is an experience, it is not a one time event.

So in reference to your post, just know..it doesn't matter what you or I think. Truth is truth, and it stands alone. I am definetly here to lead and to be a light...but look to the source of the light for them answers homey.

I recommend you read 1 John. Don't believe the lie that you have been fed. Jesus did not come to condemn, Jesus came to save.

It's about relationship...not religion.

If you don't believe in Christianity, and you don't like the idea of this MySpot blog, why don't you send SOHH.COM a message and request that they have a blog titled "SOHH Spiritual" and everyone can submit something and then it would rotate.

That's what I'm tryin to see happen. In other words...stop whining and step up for what you believe in.

Maybe if EVERYONE did that....and stop back and forthing about who got the biggest muscles "50 Cent or Game" (..you get the point...) then maybe Hip Hop wouldn't be in the state it is now.

I'm gonna break it down like Jesus would...in a parable.

Let's say you got two children and a father who runs a business. Let's say...it's a.....Peach Tree farm. Well, the pops wants to give his children a chance to take over and "do the right thing" with the business because he loves them. He loves his business, it is a good thing…and he wants his children to experience the goodness of running the farm. So he gives it to the oldest to give him the opportunity. The oldest son starts hiring help to tend to the crop. So then the help starts off good and they see this good thing they have going on with the business. He takes all praise for all of the good that comes from the farm, but quickly defers any negativity onto the help.

They see that the peaches are nice and sweet..but they have ideas on how they can make them even better. So the help begins to steal some peaches, and they start their own gardens. But they begin to juice up the peaches with all kind of artificial chemicals, start clonin trees, all kind of stuff. Their sprout up business’s do ok...but only for a short time. The peaches are bigger, they are juicier..and there are more of them...but they taste like crap. And oh yeah, them chemicals...they got CANCER in ‘em too!

The father sees this happening and he is unhappy. He allows the little off-shoot businesses to run themselves in the ground on their own because of their greed, and the poison they spread.

IT’S TIME TO TAKE THE FATHER’S BUSINESS BACK!!! Music was created as a means to glorify God! Anything not used correctly, is inherently being misused. Hip Hop is the largest, most influential lifestyle on the globe right now!! You think God is gonna just sit back and watch us idiot humans run it into the ground through self centeredness, self destruction and self glorification.

Look…just check out the music I refer you to, then if as a true hip hop fan you can come back and tell me the music was wack, tell me how it’s wack and we will argue this from a hip hop perspective. But when you listen to it, and you realize…”hey…somethings goin on with this”…you better head that whisper in your ear and investigate it. There’s more to life than a JayZ CD, or Game doin another diss song. Walk out side, look around…then ask yourself how much all that which you are supporting…how much does it REALLY matter. And then be ready to hear and receive….this is real talk.

In FACT, I can mail you some "history books" that will tell you that Christianity is a farce and is make-believe. And of course, sticking to your logic, since its in a HISTORY BOOK, its a FACT, right? I would tell you the rest PZ, but I ain't sure you ready for me to speak on that yet. S.E.A.L.S. means Saints Engaged Against Lucifer 4 Souls. I know you didn't ask that, but I wanted to reiiterate that truth. And you right, you get a check mark on ya spelling. You could say we did it to be "hip" if ya want. But you see...when God is behind you, you tend to see alot further than the blind man's eye....so see the bigger vision of God's plan with this ministry. With the unique spelling of "Ministryz"..when it blows up WORLDWIDE..and the movement is on television, radio, etc, "ministryz" being such a unique spelling, will provide clearer search results from all online search engines.

Yo...where did anybody claim to be perfect homey? God knows all our flaws homey, but just to put it out there for you...and keep it all the way real with you...I still struggle with porn. And my temper..I find myself losing my patience faster than I should. I also have a hard time understanding mental illness so alot of times I feel like people like that are using excuses when in fact it may be a true illness. And also...I find myself harboring ill feelings towards my sons mother.

If you took my response to you as judgement...you need to check that homey. It's called "conviction". That's what happens when something inside of you cringes at "truth".

You don't even understand the ten commandments. You calling yourself "jesus" and tryin to spread that idiocy you are typing is using the Lords name in vain. It's tryin to promote a lie under the Lord's name. Don't claim it's possible for you to promote Christianity any other way than by believing the basic principles of Christ. But what I have a hard time understanding is how born agains believe that God would come down to earth to procreate with a woman. Answer: Where did you get that from? God never came down and procreated, Jesus was never married and there is no mention of God ever procreating so that is a false belief you have been fed.

My answer: There is no where in the bible where it says to pray to any statue. If a person is praying to a statue or cross, I really doubt that they are sincerely in their heart praying or crying out to a piece of granite...or piece of wood. I on the other hand have never seen anyone do this, but it would not surprise me. They are more than likely praying to something symbolic to them of God...not the piece of statue, or wooden cross.

Now with the cross, the bible tells us that we are to lay our burdens at the foot of the cross. That basically means that Christ died so that we are freed from all of that, so to lay them down and accept his sacrifice on the cross. Since you aren't familiar with Christianity, that may be what you are confusing with them "praying" TO the cross versus..praying AT the cross.

The greatest miracle I have seen was the transformation of my life when I got real about following Christ, from the lost person I used to be to the man, husband and father I've become. How He has given me a new desire to lean on Him in everything. It saved my marriage after I got my wife's sister pregnant. And yo, our marriage is stronger than ever!!! And this was only in the name of Jesus as I prayed morning noon and night for His guidance, the Truth was revealed from His Word that dealt and spoke DIRECTLY to every hurdle placed in my way. I claimed it, followed the Word and put my faith in Christ through each step...and came out victorious EVERYTIME. Now I didn't say the road wasn't bumpy, but I did say He brought me through it and I came out stronger than before I went in it! Serving God and having Jesus is an experience beyond description!

What joy do you find in your belief?
Man, the security of knowing that I am following God and tryin with my all to please the creator of everything...I know that pleases God. And when I know that God is happy with me, and when I know that God has got my back, and has plans for me to do well in life and that I was worth Jesus dying for, I know I don't ever have to sweat the small stuff. That is a peace beyond comprehension. It's a security that once you know that you know that you know....your whole outlook on life, everything around you...good and bad, is put into perspective. It makes it a whoooole lot easier to smile through the hard times knowing that God is there the whole time and is going to see you out of it.

Jesus Christ. I willingly and eagerly serve Him not only because it is commanded, but because I know He cares about everything I go through and is there to guide me through it all. And shoot...dog...He's God. I mean, He has been here from eternity, and if He says I'm important enough and that He loves me...then I'm riding with Him! If God is for you who can be against you! Nothing can come to me unless He causes it, or He allows it, and knowing how He feels about me...the least I can do is serve Him and tell people about His goodness!

You are the one saying Jesus is the son of God. So then what you are claiming is that God came down to Earth to pro-create with Mary in order to create your version of Jesus Christ: Half God/half man, super powers and all that good stuff. My question is what reason would God have to do that. It doesn't make sense. It makes more sense that Jesus Christ was a man, one of us - whom God chose to deliver his message. That makes more sense that God would choose certain men to relay his word/inform mankind about the righteous path. I am certain he has no interest in creating demi-Gods or half man half Gods or having children. I just don't see it. Here is the way I see it. I agree you should read up on other religions. And no one on this site is pushing anyone to beleive anything they don't want to. And whatever "religion or faith" believes you have to put others down and never have nothing nice to say is not one people should be interested in. And speaking of listening to rap music from an ex-drug addict why not...people currently listen to and support some (not all) musicians (period)...that are drug still addicts. So for this culture that shouldn't even be a problem. Then as far as not being educated...to me the ones who are not educated are those who have to call people names and put down other people. And as far as this Ted Haggard...why even look him up and read about him (which he seems to continually INSIST) because he seems to say enough about himself on these blogs. If he actually came across as a decent person with something to actually share with people other than smart comments and put downs then maybe I would.

PZ you definately holdin it down for the Lord! Our God is a God who spoke and created the universe, sent His only Son (who IS God) to Earth, to be sinless, to heal the sick, to raise the dead, to do many miracles, and ultimately, to die for our sins, and rose Himself from the grave 3 days later taking the keys of death from Satan, giving us ETERNAL life!

And why is this Ted dude trippin? Ted Haggard is NOT Jesus Christ so why put him on the chopping block for the entire relationship of Christianity? That is ONE dude. Any religion has people that don't follow it that claim to. Jesus is the foundation of our religion. Please tell me where it says in the Bible that Jesus sinned cuz I can't find it.

Ey bro, that's one of my favorite verses in the whole book.

"James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."

The whole book of James has really helped change me into this new person. Especially the verses below that deal with the power of the tongue. And it's appropriate to mention it here on a hip hop site, considering the power of the music, the message being spread, and the goal of SEALS Ministryz. I've said it many times, but it's worth repeating. Truth stands on it's own. Here some important truth:

James 3:6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

Go to the club,& be escorted to the front, by the dance floor, drinks already there when I got there.Was too smart for them to catch me for that so they threw 5 felonies & 3 misdemeanors at me for other B.S.
There was a black dude that came faithfully every Sunday, telling about this Jesus. I put my head under my pillow & said he need's to shut up, I aint guilty & I don't deserve to be here. Between the 3rd & 4th week he came (Blamed every one but me for my problem's,Lay down with dog's & you gonna get flea's) ,God spoke to me as plain as day, THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE !!! Yall know what I am talking about because you have heard it too. You know , ignoring Jesus is like constantly hitting a brick wall, sooner or later you aint gonna hurt your hand anymore, well your heart get's hard too when you keep on rejecting HIm !! Dont even feel it no more. Well I heard him, yeah I've got things in my past, I didn,t think any one could love me because of it, alcoholic dad, mom struggling just to make it, I said not me, no way. I took the easy way out. Hanging with the guy's, selling dope, all the ladies I could want & some I didn't want. Any body can do that. Try standing up for what is right, it takes a man to do that. My son ,PZ saw dad doing it, & just like all of us, If dad does it ,it must be OK. When God spoke to me he said , Who is gonna break the circle, The chain circle. No way out but to break it. You can't do it, but by His GRACE(Getting something you don,t deserve) you can. How many of yall talking all that smack want your life for your children???? Son's selling dope, going to jail, it's gonna happen sooner or later, daughter's having no self respect, cause dad didn't respect women, come on now be real. No one wake's up & say's I guess I'll go to jail today.I write this to you from my home , because of GOD's GRACE, I was found not guilty on 2 of the felonies, they dropped all the rest of my charge's & exspunged my record. HE CLEANED me up from the inside out. Behold, I stand at the door & knock. If any man open the door I will come in to him. Who so ever call upon the name of the LORD, SHALL BE SAVED!!
