Ralph Treasvant from Boston Loves Ethiopia

RalphTresvantB.jpg

Name: Ralph Tresvant of New Edition
Reppin': Boston
Favorite Spot: Ethiopia

About a year ago we went to Ethiopia for New Years. We went there we did the show and Joe and a couple other cats was there and they loved us out there.

Everybody I walked by was like "Are you from Ethiopia?", and I’m like, "Nah, man I’m from America. I’m from Boston, MA". And I’m thinking ‘Is it my weight or is it my skin complexion?" and they’re like "No, its your cheek bones and your skin complexion".

I went clubbin’ and I remember how all the people, I just remember feeling really warm. Like everyone here, they don’t walk around with that stern face. They don’t walk around with that thing of trying to be hard or don’t want you to talk to them. Everybody was wide open as far as who they are. From the guys to the girls to the little kids, everyone had this soft way of speaking and this beautiful way of talking. I just felt like wow, people could really be like that.

When I was leaving I remember getting on the plane, not a second thought of "I’m gonna miss this place" or none of that. And while I’m sitting there talking, I’m looking out at the window then I look back down and my eyes just started pouring tears. I didn’t know where it was coming from. I didn’t have that feeling emotionally where I would feel where that was coming from.

Parts of Africa move different people. I think we as Black people we have a physical bond to places and then there’s a spiritual bond with places, with things. I think when I went there my spirit was from Ethiopia somehow.

My ancestors are from Ethiopia too..its funny because Ethiopians tend to look different than Africans from South Africa, and West Africa...theres definitely a difference in the complexion, facial features, and hair...

I am happy to see that you've enjoyed yourself. There places in the world that we all need to visit some day before we leave this world, that we could say that we have really enjoyed. Enjoy life because we only have one to live. And remember to always thank GOD for everything.

To fellow who said it's funny Africans look different: Africa is massive, and it's not homogeneous. Go to Egypt, for example. Africans are all shades, and features.. Moreover the word Africa is Dutch. It's Eurocentric to essentialise how people do. But anyway, anyone who loves Ralph Tresvant I am a friend of. Cool it down.. But as for Johnny Gill, man, you need to have Eddie holler at peoplefolks, and we can hit the club..

I am from Africa so lety me break it down for you brothers. Black people of Africa are from 3 groups of People and theose groups are the Bantu, Nilotes, and Kusshiites. The Ethiopians belong to the Kushiite group. The Kushiites are found in Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti,Northern Sudan, and the African Arab countries (Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Morocco. The Bantu people are found mainly in Central, East, and Southern Africa. The Nilotes are from the north East but south of Sudan, West Africa, some parts of Central Africa. These groups got differences in looks such as Nilotes got a darker skin, Kushiites look like there mixed with Arabs. The Bantu languages are similar, Nilotes languages are similar too. The Kushiite langauges kind of sound like Arabic, and the script is different from the usual script. It's kind of hard to explain these differences in a short story.

They need to put bobby in a room and give him a reality check and then plan another tour together!! the originals!! I love my hip hop but back in the days you played "if it isn't love" you had it wrapped!!

Nice to see artists of stature keeping it real! not in the sense of hardcore real but in the sense of "i'm a human being like you" real!

It's a beautiful thing to see Mr.Treasvant speaking on Ethopia in a positive way and to let other artist know we are loved in many other places in the world.

Mr.Treasvant,

We waiting on that New Album. I see you still have that great unique voice and you still have those moves and footwork. We need that great music back
from you as well as New Edition. I understand right now in the music game everything is based on record sales, politics and so forth but it's time for the veterans to take the game back. Let's Go!

I went to a similar place in a little town called Covington, GA. It was called Dooley's tavern, everyone walked around with a smile, maybe it was because of the $1 tequila shots, or $2 mixed drink specials or from the potent fumes in the air...

Young man, you have done something many of the stolen property could only dream of. That is return to the MOTHERLAND. Most of "us" don't realize that our mother misses us and we miss her. Educate yourselves about African History, it is the missing pages of World History.

I feel you ralph, These are the chosen people. They are cultured, humbel, and good looking. The are the people we as black people should be proud of. The most beautiful girls in the world hands down.

Ralph is very good-looking and is gonna be successful as a solo artist. He was always different from the others in NE and stood out to me and a lot of other women. He's the best looking one, a beautiful voice and the most laid back and confident. I like Biv but Ralph is my favorite.

I just don't have much to say right now, but I guess it doesn't bother me. Basically nothing seems worth thinking about. Nothing notable happening these days. Shrug. Not that it matters. My mind is like a void. I've basically been doing nothing , not that it matters. More or less nothing going on. I guess it doesn't bother me. Not much on my mind.
