The Stars Come Out For Murder Inc.

At yesterday's closing arguments it looked more like an awards show than a federal trial. There were cameos from Jay-Z, Dame Dash, Ja Rule and Ashanti, J. Prince of Rap-A-Lot, Russell Simmons, and others. I know all these dudes are friends to Irv Gotti, but it gave me the feeling that something bigger is at stake in this case.

Think about it. Jay and Dame's Roc-a-fella, and J. Prince's Rap-A-Lot have more in common than just dashes in their label name. Both are "rumored" to have been founded with drug money.

Sound familiar? That's what sparked the Murder Inc. investigation. If Irv and Chris go up, it could create a domino effect on these other guys.

Friendship? Sure.

Watch out for my own interests? Double sure.

hummm. good observation, I never really thought of that.

you are right about that. It will just give them a better chance to bring black people down

F_ck these clowns. Everybody knows Supreme was funding the label. People are such idiots, we all know they broke the law, and we wear "Free Gotti" T-Shirts. For what? If they really that gangsta, take your numbers like a man. I feel no sympathy and NO there is no conspiracy. Anybody ever take a look at B-More? You see what drugs and violence has done to the lives of the brothers and sisters down there? And you cats say "Free Supreme"? Put that clown in the chair today. I'm sick of these SELL OUTS killing our own, making life in the hood a living hell just so they can shine, and wanting sympathy when they get caught. Supreme ain't have no sympathy for the people he had clipped off, why should we have sympathy for him. Irv and Chris LORENZO (Not Gotti people, John Gotti would have spit in a black persons face before shaking their hand yet we idolize them) knew the deal, they did the crime, do the damn time!!!

Posted by: BX Riderman at December 1, 2005 06:38 PM

P.S.- Jay is too smart to have any times to any drug dealers, financially anyway. Murda Inc is going down because they continued their relationship with this scum. He's beeen on the inside for a couple now, but he was washing paper through Murda Inc. right until he went in. That's why these clowns are in trouble. Idiots, as much a this clown has been locked up, they should have known it was only a matter of time. Jay left the dirty money alone a LONG time ago. It's been ten years, so I really doubt he has anything to worry about. I don't know J Prince's situation so I can't speak on that one....

Posted by: BX Riderman at December 1, 2005 06:44 PM

Most rappers have in one way or another built themselves up with some dirty money. Be it lying on taxes or drug money. Murder Inc might have got in above there head but you cant tell me all this White Collar crime is going unnoticed and they want to look at the INC because the employed some hood niggas.

Posted by: ispeakthetruth at December 1, 2005 07:21 PM

ispeakthetruth, it's not cuz they employed cats from the hood, the Feds wanted SUPREME and anybody they could take down with him. Murda Inc is irrelevent as far this case is concerned, this about McGriff. Dude is a dirty, dirty cat, they wanted him bad for a LONG time and for good reason. The fact that Murda Inc was pretty much owned by dude, is why these clowns are in court today. If Chris & Irv did a little dirt to get up the cheddar to start the label in the past, and left it alone way back when, they wouldn't be in this situation today. The fact that they continued putting Tide to that paper when he went down, is why they are answering to the name "Defendant" right now. It has nothing to do with the label hiring cats from the hood. They want Supreme and anybody affiliated with him....

Dude your living in the past way way in the past. If you think this is the first money laundering case ever your a fucking fool. Probably more white folks in suits have been screwed for this kind of crime than black dude.

As for the conspiracy ... that is just a little bit far fetched to be truthful. It seems like they would turn up for support. Nice blog though but it seems like a ho kind of topic.

Anyway as for the gotti's and preme if they where real they know the risks in what they done. But it's good to know they got fags wearing free me t-shirts :) maybe they can do there G thing with them ho's and run them

I'm not saying there is a conspiracy. I'm saying that the feds winning this case may give them the direction to go after other rap labels.

In regards to the Murder Inc. trial, this is something that has gone on for years and if you want to get technical, than you should consider someone like Master P, Baby and Mannie Fresh(Cash Money Boys), Swisha House (Mike Jones, Slim Thug) and than ofcourse the Roc and Rap-a-lot to name just a few. Best believe people like Young Jeezy didn't make it working 9-5! The whole problem with the whole drug money laundry is that let's face it.....unless you got a connect, you need to act like you got almost as much as an artist has financially. There are up & coming rap artist that hit the block just to save up enough money to live out a dream. Believe me, I've been there and done that!! So like I said, it's been going on for a long time, but unfortunately they (murder inc.) got caught. The thing that's frightening is that this may be the beginning of federal investigations that we have no idea until we read them in headlines or are posted up on web sites like www.sohh.com Yeah, real talk!!

When it all comes down to it some of the wealthiest "legitimate" dynasties in operation today, were started with so called dirty money. I.E: the Kennedys and the Rockerfellers can be traced back to playing a part in bootlegging liquor which was the crack of their day. Let's not forgot that the entire U.S. of A. was built on the backs of black people stolen from their country. Why knock Irv and Chris? Cause their black.

The federal govt. has quietly pursued the defaming and destruction of politically viable and economically powerful black people since the inception of the FBI's counter intelligence programs. This is the same program that took part in the assasinations of Malcolm X & Martin Luther King, Jr.; and the destruction of the Black Panther Party. These hipocrites are attempting to convict some of ours for the same things that they founded and funded this country on, as well as the same things that they've allowed the MOB (organized crime families) to do for 100 years. I'm not saying that we should not take responsibility for our own part in this, we should. But, we need to think about the messages we are sending to our youth. Our people will never truly be free if we continue to allow the media and controlling government entities to determine our worth. We need to adjust our perspective about what is important and popular. School should be popular to produce doctors, lawyers, business people, etc. Working (straight) jobs should be popular so that our families can live a life void of violence, drugs, etc. I know that we will never be totally without these issues, but at least let's get some balance....Keep Moving Foward.

The way this case is going I think Murder Inc,the verdict will come out not guilty. They aint got shit on them seriously,so they have text messages on them but it doesnt really say shit that would put them on hot water you know what I mean. The prosecution aint got shit on them, even the judge is getting to the point like sayimg "Ah fuck it this is a waste of time just might as well dismiss the case".Its obvious that they aint got shit on SUPREME only the flights he took its not like he was transporting drugs or something in the plane so THE INC will be alright. As for the other rappers that went to that case for support. It shows that The Inc has always gotten love from real labels that make good music. As for 50 muthafucka aint never gonna catch a case as long as hes snitching to the feds whats going on in the rap business look what he did to murder inc{snitched} if you dont believe me LOG ON TO WWW.THE SMOKING GUN.COM CLICK TO SEARCH TSG.TYPE 50 CENT AND YOU WILL SEE THE TRUTH RIGHT THERE

These cats are guilty anybody from the hood knows how shit goes down. The feds dont fuck wit u unless they got evidence. They arent like local cops.Thats why the feds have like a 94%conviction rate.I know I done did fed time and know plenty others that have 2.They was makin money and supreme came home and they put him down.It aint no excuse for them to be cutting that nigga big ass checks and for him to be all up in the business affairs of the inc.

I agree with the third cat to respond to this thread, BX. i just came back from Bodymore, Murdaland and it is something serious out there. I hate to see another black man take a fall and even more i hate to give the feds a reason to investigate an industry that has been somewhat successful for black people but Im tired of cats like Preme selling our brothers and sisters death and then becoming some kind of hero in the hip hop public's eyes when he gets caught up. Do you think if you got caught up in some shit he would give a fuck about you? Im sure someone on this website knows or knows of someone who got silenced or fucked up cause they got in a big time drug dealers way. Anyways, I feel you BX Riderman. Thats real spit.

Murder Inc. is gonna be found innocent. Prosecution proved nothing other than they put a bunch of liars to the stand. I don't know if Murder Inc. used drug money, don't really care if they used drug money cuz they ain't the only people that have done it. I just hope they get out of this because they've produced great artist in Ja Rule and Ashanti and i'd hate to see the label that ruled the years of 2001, 2002, and 2003 by selling millions of records, topping the charts and helping other artist top the charts be deceased. Best wishes out 2 Irv, Chris, they family, and the whole Murder Inc. Fam.

First off, I would like to say...may God be with the Lorenzo brothers...as for the Feds...may God have mercy on their souls!! Let's take a look at the facts for all of the intelligence-challenged idiots involved...If the Lorenzo's allegedly laundered McGriff's money, then why didn't they (Feds) bring forth this earlier, since they were..so called watching McGriff?!! Secondly...and people this is why I call these idiots(the Feds) Federal Ethnic Destroying Scum...also why did they knowingly put infadels on the stand who would admittedly lie, and I quote, when asked about if one of the witness' Philip "Dalu" Banks for the prosecuton, would lie on the Lorenzo Brothers for his freedom...HE SAID YES!!! Now if I were a part of the jury,..that right there would just the "seal the deal" in favor of the Lorenzos! Now if you backtrack a couple of months or so ago...what was Lil' Kim convicted of....PERJURY...,and now the Feds are using this same unruly technique and any other false means necessary to convict the Lorenzo Brothers is just proposterous!!...and you wonder why they have 94% conviction rate!! How could you, in the least way call yourselves uplholding law when you put non-credble liars on the stand!!! If Johnnie Cochran (God bless the dead) was with us today, he would slash them to shreds chase these fakes home packing!!! May the truth be told, this case was built upon insufficient evidence, lies and liars and the truth will prevail and may the Lorenzo Brothers emerge Victorious!!! p.s. to the feds...uphold the law dont let a lie uphold you....and if you're gonna lie.. the least you could do is get your lie straght...you fu#%!ng fakes!!!!

i dont really like the inc but i gottabe honest, even if they guilty , the way the prosecutors is proven it is bullshitt, none of their witnesses is reliable the way it sounds to me. and oooh the way the jurors are asking for more documents about chris s shoe box and shitt looks like they gonna pin it on the gotti brothers man straight up i know a lot about these fucking jurors they think they could become judges over a night, man its only documents not facts, he said she said, i dont really know why their defense lawyer didnt ask to throw that out coming from these uncreditable witnesses i swear that fucking prosecutor is having a piece of cake of a time with this shitt and their lawyer is delivering these dudes to the box like they in a ups truck.i mean come on another thing their lawyer needs to really point out in his closing is that the fact supreme and gotties being connected is not wat this case is based on and he did nt even point out that there aint no money being held for evidence from the inc s office. Anyhow to me martha stewart is way dirty then all these inc fucks all in one and she get 6 months in jail and watch these dudes looze everything plus time.I honestly dont even think irv and chris are real crimininals man straight up if they were ssome vets they would smack that lawyer up then fire his azz get a good lawyer then start this shitt up again i mean come on how the fuk can this prosecutors make this out of a trial with not even one creditable witness and one reliable evidence this shitt is weak like when cops raid ur house cause some one said u have a gun in ur house but they find none and now these witnesses come to court saying :yep i seen the gun it was there blah blah blah yet the fuking prosecutors have no gun for an evidence but these witnesses in their case their not even creditable they all trying to cheat time come on man homies beat those case like dipping a frie in ketchup this shitt is wack yo irv fire that lawyer and demamd for a fair trial man.iam out man this type of shitt just boils my skin these dudes should know better their life is at stake, do ur own study man, always remember its u who ll be sitting in the box not ur fuking lawyer man trust me i know a lot about lawyers when that hammer hits he ll tell u take care till his phone rings for his next client man.

Nowaday, the jury got they brow raised
Listenin to testimony about my foul ways

[MTV] You can feel the tension building here
as an unprecedented number of people have turned out
for what may be the "Trial of the Century"
{Hook}

[Me]
How come, you label your brand of dope
"Volume 1" and spread it through the slums?
Fed it to the young with total disregard
Your honor, the State seeks the maximum charge
And how could you, turn right around
and release a lethal dosage called "Volume 2"
And is true you operate the criminal enterprise
known as Roc-a-Fella in charge of his meteoric rise?
And do you deny you're responsible for the demise
of record execs, and do you object?
Your distribution's Polygram, and through your connects
Def Jam, you pushed over five million SoundScan
And not to mention, your co-horts and henchmen
Dame, Biggs, Lyor, Kev' and Russell Simmons
And we ain't gon' talk about Murder, Inc.
That just establishes a darker deeper criminal link

ab, PLEASE!!! stop leading my people to the slaughter house. A normal "9-5" job is probably the worst thing a black man can get into. It is a system of dependency, lack of integrity, heirarchical control, depression and in may cases, coffee addiction ;-)

Don't y'all know that jobbers are slaves? They live hand to mouth (most of them), cannot save a dime and so are totally dependent on the system. WHAT WE SHOULD BE DOING is building our own corporations (like Rocafella etc) to fight the powers that be with equal weaponry. BY ANY MEANS NECCESSARY.

I'm glad that a lot of people know what's up with the bootleg liquor deal in the Great Depression which was equal to selling crack today. A lot of gangsters made a lot of money off of that. Everybody says Murder Inc. was founded by drug money. How do you think the major labels or any corporation for that matter was founded? The money was NOT legit. The difference between us and them is that they don't put there business out there like that. For some reason Black folks have to let the world know they were affiliated with drug dealing or some kind of crimimal activity like its something to be proud of. Its not. I'd be proud to escape those conditions if that's what I had to do to get ahead but that's not how they do it. You wouldn't see the owner of a Universal Music Group or Warner Bros. in a picture with John Gotti. Matter of fact, who could actually say they seen the owner of these companies, period? This is like that Dave Chappelle (if I spelled his name right) "When Keepin' it Real Goes Wrong" skit. I am hoping that Irv and Chris are found innocent though. I hope upcoming rappers and CEOs learn from this.

Imhotep ! Build a corporation for yourself by selling poison to black brothers and sisters with the deck already stacked against them!!!You are the slave brother. A prisoner to your own mind. All of them should go to jail for crimes against the black community. Murder Inc.(Irv and Chris) may not have been on the corners but they sure as hell had a hand in keeping the wheels turning. It pains me to see black folks celebrating gangsta's just because they're black. Sumpreme and everyone involved in the drug trade, from the brothers on the corner to the brotha in the office are nothing more than selfish ass holes who would sell their souls for some duvs. If thats not trying to be white I don't know what is. And yes I have a job (9-5)! Who's gonna take care of my family? Supreme? I work hard every day so that I can make sure my son gets a good education so that he can learn to develope his most prize possession and ultimate weapon against the attacks on the black race which is his mind. I have no respect for any drug dealer be it a short-timer or lifer. Their actions have an effect on more than that one person they sold to. And yes I've heard every exscuse the most popular one being "I'm trying to feed my family". Then why is it the first thing most of them buy is a damn chain. Wake up black folks and understand what's going on.

Posted by: tbpoppa at December 2, 2005 05:23 PM

reading some of the above posts reminds me why us black ppl are percieved as iggnorant fools...first off, if irv and his brother are guilty, thats all that matters. The fact that they are rappers should not even be factored into the equation. If they were butchers in my neigherhood deli and the feds charged them, they would still be guilty and no one would make a big deal about it. But because they are in the media spotlight suddenly us black folk have to turn this into a black vs white thing YET AGAIN..Honestly the time of slavery is long gone, they only reasons for black ppl living in ghettos and still crying about how we were treated back in the day is that they are not motivated enough to better themselves. I am sick of hearing garbage about how you cant get jobs so you just sit around in your front yards. but back to the main point, you guys try to make it sound as if its just black rappers that are being singled out, do i have to remind you that the feds are constantly watching white groups too such as the Hells angels. Do you see white ppl crying racism though??? no you dont because they want the guys that are lowering them to be caught and put in jail. Why cant black ppl do the same? why do we think its so bad that a black man who clearly has committed a crime be put in jail? I dont see the logic behind this reasoning, it just sounds really petty to me...

Posted by: nubina at December 2, 2005 07:53 PM

Samuel Bronfman, this is the dude who started Seagrams and got rich during Prohibition. The reason I am saying his name because he has a grandson name Edgar Bronfman Jr who used to own the Universal Music Label and now runs Warner Music Group. Like other people said in the posts the "white boys" started their empires from illicit activities which the Bronfman family is a clear example of. The funny thing is that all of the rap labels who we are sure got started from drug money are under the corporate umbrella of a bigger company who got started from the drug money of their day.
