You think these workers want to strike? For some of these workers, they've been doing this since they got out of high school. Honestly, my argument is not too much about wether or not they should get or deserve it, I think their job has its very hard parts that we dont know, but almost every1's job has its 'ugly' things and when we get fucked by our bosses, we have to deal with it and nobody cares/gets fucked over by it..

So do your research before you start using such and such as an example or critisizing them. You couldn't and can't judge what their situation was either, because you were not in it. Besides that, you can't compare their occupations. Being a recording artist (yes it is a real job with real work and business behind it) is a totally different field from being a 9 to 5 worker or a bus driver ect....two totally different occupational fields. No comparison at all.
2. I highly simpathize with the workers and their strike. Just like the supermarket workers when they were striking. If they feel the need to stand for better working conditions, I support them 100%. If the people don't stand for something, they will fall for anything. Yes, the powers that be, over the transit system, needs to be rattled and listen to the workers and the general public who take public transportation. Hopefully this will be resolved with better conditions for the workers and the general public (because the conditions for the public who take public transportation are not good or that safe either). I hope the workers get what they want and the strike benefits them.

Striking in the winter is way more effective. It's cold outside. It's a big deal to walk 20 - 40 blocks to get to work - especially if it's raining or snowing. If they struck in the summer, it's nice outside.

Let's address one issue I keep hearing come up. People are saying the MTA forced the TWU to strike. How were they "forced"? The MTA asked for third party arbitration to avoid a strike, and the TWU turned it down. That sets a bad precedent for negotiations.
The president of the national union the TWU is under is AGAINST the strike. The international union is AGAINST the strike. The former lawyer for the TWU's demands are not worth striking for.

The TWU has been without a contract for 3 years. How long do you keep requesting a contract before you say 'THIS IS SOME BULLSHIT?' So you just do your job everyday on the hope that one day the MTA will renew your contract.
This could be worst. They could be working and making the service REAL SLOW. Stopping trains in the tunnels. Waiting extra long to move the buses.
Like I said b4.. it could be worse for TWU.
