Fat Joe: Legend In His Own Mind Part 2

"...If you like me you reading the credits right now..." - Jay-Z

So I got that new Fat Joe album, All Or Nothing. I'm not even going to tell you what I think of the album, but I wanted to point out something Joe wrote in his album credits.

"Tony, Remy, Pros, Geddy I know we didn't rock on this album. I just wanted to give the fans more of me. See you on the next Terror Squad album love y'all."

I don't think people really want to hear from Tony [Sunshine], Pros or Geddy but excluding Remy Ma is a dumb move. If anything the fans want more Remy, less Joe.

Let's be real, Remy isthe star of Lean Back. Joe's first verse was a good intro. Remy came in, took over. Then it went back to Joe and the song dies quietly. Remy holds down J.O.S.E., not Joe. Remy held down Loyality. Not sure what happened to Remy on True Story.

Are you kiddin me? Remy Ma was the star of "Lean Back"? On what earth did this happen? Everyone knows that Joe killed and dominated the whole. He made "Lean Back" and let Remy kick a verse. You think the song would've had the same impact if Remy did the hook and 2 verses, while Joe only did one. Come on, kats need to kill the krazy talk. one.

Posted by: RadioRaheem at June 28, 2005 01:21 PM

To be perfectly honest, i thought the song was okay. It's better than what he has out now-oh yeah, how did he get the name CRACK (possible drug addiction??..or maybe it's the first thing people see when he bends over.hmm)When is 50cent going to come and blow JOe out the water so we won't have to worry about him anymore?

Posted by: trina at June 28, 2005 01:56 PM

Really, though ... Remy's rhyme on Lean back was an old Jigga rhyme.
"not whats da f*$k I call a chain reaction"

B. Please.

Posted by: Swanky A from BedStuy at June 28, 2005 01:57 PM

Actually, Fat Joe got the nick name CRACK!! cuz when he wuz in grade school and he went to the board, the crack of his ass would show and the students called him Joey Crack and it just stuck with him. Words from the own man's mouth on BET access granted.

Posted by: DatBoiLaz at June 28, 2005 02:56 PM

FAT JOE GETS TO MUCH CREDIT...LEAN BACC WAS WACC!!! SCOTT STROCH MADE THAT TRACC HOTT,...TS GARBAGE, PUN * LINK MADE TS HOTT!!!

Posted by: Quint beEzY at June 28, 2005 03:43 PM

joe proved me wrong becuz i always thought the late great pun ghost wrote most of that cats shit but he really stepped his game up.as far as lean back goes honestly i wasnt impressed wit it.it was a hot track and all but, whatever.remys hot and the sooner they get her out the better.plain and simple T.S has never and will never be the same without PUN and LINK

Posted by: Hi As A Kite at June 28, 2005 03:51 PM

whoa-i think i'm a little late, but who all left t.s. and why, or were they kick out. someone please hit me up and fill me in :(

Posted by: trina at June 28, 2005 04:59 PM

trina, Cuban Link left TS, Triple Seis left TS, and Armageddon left TS.

Posted by: FrosukE at June 28, 2005 08:45 PM

Let's face it, Joe was hot back in the day when he was runnin wit D.I.T.C. When he got Pun, thAT'S when dude fell off cos Pun was too hot. Remy did murda him on lean back n since J.O.S.E i personally feel as if Joe is jackin Jigga's flow n keeps bitin too many younger MC'S' rhymes! Let the younger cats bite yo shit not the other way round dog! Geddy did his thing tho on the T.S true story album, peep this"AM NOT COCKY/AM INTELLECTUALLY POMPOUS/ COZ I CAN SUPERCEDE ANYTHING YOU ACCOMPLISH" PAMOJA!

Posted by: Odhis at June 29, 2005 12:54 AM

all ya is haters man. joe got that shit locked, dude is nice, he isn`t the best, but he on up there. jigga ain`t shit, his name is on top because he kept dropping the same album with a different name, year after year and you say he is a legend. Legends are judged by the impact they make with their music, not how many albums they have sold. Pun, Biggie, Big L is talked of, but they never had as many albums as jigga. Mase made a name for himself way bigga than Jay, only that he didn`t get killed, and if he had been, you all be talking of him as God, like you do with Pac and Biggie. When Big L was alive, you never spoke of him, but now that he dead, he finally got your attention. Fat Joe is one of my best rappers, and anyone who says Remy killed it on Lean back, must be on crack, it`s cook cock crack biiiiach

Posted by: that nucca at June 29, 2005 04:14 AM

Of course the haters are gonna hate! Joe is this Joe is that...Joe is bitin' all of Jigga'z rhymes...blah blah blah! Fat Joe is nyce ok and he is on his way to becoming a legend in this hip hop game because of his longevity...his strive to keep doing his thang longer then most peeps could do. No he's not the greatest rapper of all time but he does deserve some respect. Joey Crack is T.S. hands down so stop with da hatin' you bunch of J.O.E.'z (Jealous One'z Envy)!

Posted by: Jay at June 29, 2005 07:47 AM

Fat Joe has been steadily holdin shit down. Personally singles tend to be cheesy and weak. But let's put that aside for now. D.I.T.C he held his own among all the sick niggaz that were in that camp, and he been droppin solid albums ever since. Not to say he has a classic album or any of em are without flaws....because Don Cartagena had less flaws than most of them albums he put out since. And he aint better than Pun. But he holds his own. Always has. T.S. as a whole, nah I dont feel em. Pun, Joe, and maybe Link held it down. Remy too. But them other niggaz all sounded the same as far as I'm concerned.

Posted by: K at June 29, 2005 08:16 AM

The way I REALLY see it.. Joe COOK CRACK!!.. he needs to get some shit straight. Sure, he's reaching that status of being well-known, but he'll never step out the shadows of Pun. Cuban Link is tearin' it up. TS has definitely gotten weaker. I didn't know Armageddon dropped TS though. But, for real -- I'm feeling CRACK's shit. But, he seems too cocky and shit.

Posted by: Kold Blood at June 29, 2005 09:49 AM

Thatnucca, noone sed Jay was a legend n if they did I know where they comin from. All bullshit aside even u know that Joe bites Jay as much as Jay bites BIG! Hell, Joe bites BIG too, mo than once! He coulda been a legend if not for the mediocre jams he's put out since Pun died. A legend however is RAKIM!!!! If hiphop were a religion RA would be the supreme deity on some sun god shit! Others who would fall under the legend category include,
Masta Ace,
Biz Markie,
Kool G Rap,
Big Daddy Kane,
Craig G, shit, Juice crew right there!
Tribe called Quest
LL cool J
Eric B & Rakim
Pete Rock & CL Smooth
Public Enemy
If u look back, these is dudes who did they thing in a new style that influenced mad current MC'S N shaped hiphop to become bigga than even Afrika Bambataa woulda imagined. These is Legends. PAMOJA!!

Posted by: Odhis at June 29, 2005 10:08 AM

keep it clean. Nas wrote joe's songs, then Pun, now some other ghostwriter is handling his business. Stop believing that b.s. about him stepping up his lyrics. I think Jules Santana is his new writer. P.s He's joey crack cuz as a kid his ass cleavage was showin. (It's documented)

Posted by: HandsomeJay at June 29, 2005 10:13 AM

Masta Ace,
Biz Markie,
Kool G Rap,
Big Daddy Kane,
Craig G, shit, Juice crew right there!
Tribe called Quest
LL cool J
Eric B & Rakim
Pete Rock & CL Smooth
Public Enemy

I love the bias found in this list of legends. Now I am not going to dispute who is on the list, but lets talk about who was left off.

N.W.A.
I mean as a group and the individuals
Ice Cube
Dr. Dre
Eazy-E

These people are true legends because of the influence they have had on music, and the fact that they have direct influences on today's music, and because they have helped shape the careers of people; they shared the love. Without Eazy-e there would have neevr been a Bone Thugs (D.J. Yellow also is a main part of that) Dr. Dre has the game on lock right now.

Tupac Shakur

Biggie Smalls and Tupac will forever be linked, especially if it is proven that their deaths were murders by the same people. But Tupac is the only real legend. Biggie Smalls died prematurely and was talented, but he died too early to be a legend. Tupac could be a legend just off the stregth of what has been released since he died. And people often over look his militance, desire to make the world better for poor people, his willingness to guest appear of struggling rappers albums to help them out, his undying charisma, and so many more things baout Tupac. How many rappers you know with enough respect to call for a hault of gang violence in Los Angeles and to write an official gang code and the streets actually take heed?

Ice-T
If there was an original hustler of hip-hop, it would have to be him.

Geto Boys (Scarface especially)

Many people outside of the south do not know nearly as much as they should about these boys, but how many people in the south actually give a ____ about Masta Ace and others who were listed on that list? The Geto Boys are legends. And just for the record, who is the biggest artist on Def Jam? Ludacris. Who brought him to Def Jam? Scarface.

I am not gonna explain everyone unless ppl ask for more explanations, but also we have

Outkast
8ball & MJG
Luke
Jay-Z
to go laong with
NWA
EAZY E
ICE CUBE
DR. DRE
TUPAC
ICE-T
GETO BOYS
SCARFACE

Posted by: BIG DADDY X-KALIBUR at June 29, 2005 11:57 AM

one point,

luda is the CURRENTLY the best artist on Def Jam, but did you forget about artist like LL and EPMD. and even artist who werent directly signed to def jam but always worked with def jam artist, Big daddy Kane, rakim. these artist formed a platform for scarface to be able to bring ludacris to a storied hip hop label like Def Jam.

i have respect for rappers outside of NY but you have to admit we paved the way to making this thing mainstream.

Posted by: kiss at June 29, 2005 02:41 PM

Fat Joe is just another pretender. With all the bragging he does in his songs why won't he help out his "friends'" widow???????? Pun's wife is selling his fucking chain on e-bay. As of right now it is only selling for $12,100.00 he paid $100,000.00 for it.

Posted by: Teedy at June 29, 2005 02:42 PM

very good point teedy.

fat joe is nothing but a cream puff. the only hit this man had was lean back and what made the song hot was the remix with mase and em. em destroyed him on his own track.

Posted by: kiss at June 29, 2005 02:44 PM

FAT JOE SUCKS NOW. HE RODE HIS SIDEKICK'S (BIG PUN'S) FAME TO GET WHERE HE IS TODAY. HOW ARE YOU GONNA DISS JAY-Z YOUR WHOLE CAREER AND THEN TAKE DUDE'S STYLE? FAT JOE GOT HOT WHEN HE STARTED RAPPING LIKE JIGGA. PROPS TO TEEDY FOR THAT SHIT ABOUT JOE NOT TAKING CARE OF PUN'S FAMILY. I BET EVEN MR. CHEEKS BROKE ASS IS TAKING CARE OF FREEKY TAH'S FAMILY. REMY WAS PUN'S ARTIST NOT JOE'S. TERROR SQUAD IS FAT JOE, REMY MA, PROSPECT, ARMAGEDDON, AND TONY SUNSHINE. THEY LOST BIG PUN OBVIOUSLY, CUBAN LINK, TRIPLE SEIS, AND SUNKISS. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE CUBAN GET SIGNED TO G-UNIT SO HIM AND 50 COULD GO AT JOE, THAT WOULD BE CRAZY.

Posted by: THA ARSINIST at June 29, 2005 04:28 PM

Im so glad i found this post cuz i got some feelings on this dude i used to listen to, Fat Joe... I like to type a lot but imma keep this one short...

Ever since hip hop had its big year in 2001, when there was a new breed of artist and sounds like Kelly/Jay, Nelly, Red, Jagged, Jah, Olivia, and so many other artist hit the billboards heavy.. Fat Joe has never turned back cuz he seen the oppurtunity for him to eat big... I hated him for that... I really really used to like fat joe and now he is just another artist who done CROSSEDOVER like EPMD said... He dont even try to sugar coat it... Nelly, are you serious... That was the ultimate low point from me, If you rocked wit KRS-One, Lord Finesse, ShowBiz and AG, OC, Premier, etc and you can make a song wit Nelly... I cant fuck wit you no more...
I dont care how many time he screams "CRACK" in a song BITTING JAY-Z EVERYTIME. Ive been saying JOE has been jocking jay for years now and nobody hears me... His flow got sweeter, like Jay singing to the laydees... He got softer but yet still tried to drop hard shit for his old fans... I aint wit man..

Dont "Crack" and "Hov" inbtween each verse, at the end, and beggining of all your songs sound a lil too close for your comfort.. COME ON JOE, YOU AINT NO LEGEND AND HE DAMN SURE DONT HAVE SHIT ON LOCK FOR WHOEVER MENTIONED THAT...

BILLBOARD DOESNT GIVE YOU THE LOCK AND KEY TO THE GAME, RESPECT DOES...

Yo Big Daddy X-Kalibur, my bad I did leave out N.W.A, dudes was like the originators of hardcore gangsta music. I also forgot Gangstarr COZ em niggas also shaped hiphop's sound. You also right bout Outkast, LEGENDS!! Joe will never ever,..ever,ever,...ever,ever,...ever,ever,ever,ever, got on they level! WHAAAT!! get on they level, c'mon holla wit me. PAMOJA!!!!

Posted by: Odhis at June 30, 2005 06:59 AM

One group I'd like to mention as legends is UGK. The south is a style that gets forgotten about too much and too often summed up as Ludacris or T.I. or any of them niggaz. However we all know, if we been listentin for awhile, that UGK was real influential in openin up Texas. And not only that but UGK's whole style been evident in most of these high school kids favorite rappers today. They been made guest appearances on many muthafuckas albums and we all know who, including T.I who claims to be King of the South. That duo, along with the Memphis boys 8Ball & MJG done opened up mad doors a long ass time ago. So don't forget UGK, cuz I'm sick of cats forgetton the influence they done had.

Two cats wth different flows who come together to make some ridiculous music. Them cats been makin crazy ass tracks. "Trill Ass Nigga", "Cocaine In The Back of The Ride, "Murder", "Pimpin Aint No Illusion", "Choppin Blades", "Too Real", "Front, back, Side To Side" to name a few. The list can go on.

RESPECT!!!!

Posted by: K at June 30, 2005 08:04 AM

Damn there's mad haters here. To that kat who was talkin about why Joe wont help Pun. Before you speak, learn about both sides of the story. I dont hear you talkin about how Pun's wife is scandalous, and how really soon after his death, she put out a DVD that dissed Pun (showing Pun beating her ass). Then she went on radio about it, then Fat Joe had to call-up the station and air her ass out talkin about how she slept with Pun's brother and other dudes and that she wont let him or anyone in TS see Pun's kids. Learn before you speak!

Posted by: RadioRaheem at June 30, 2005 01:31 PM

This is to that stupid NIGGER who calls himself that nucca. You said a whole lot of nothing, idiot. Yeah Fat Joe is kinda nice, but how could you even fix your snout to even downplay all the accomplishments Jay Z has made through his music. Please don't post anymore comments on this site, infact unplug your computer!

Posted by: Da Truth at June 30, 2005 01:44 PM

@Radio...she wasn't that much of a whore, he married her, she was still his wife when he died, she mothered his children. Were you the third party in the marriage? How do you know know she slept with his brother. Just because fat ass Joe said it, its supposed to be gospel? Unless you were in the room when they were fucking, its hear-say. We don't know what he did to her or what they did to each-other but its a fact that she is still his widow and the mother of his children and if Fat Joe was a friend I don't care how he felt about their mother he would help those kids at least make sure they have a solid place to live, she can't even afford her house note. It pisses me off that in every song he is screaming BIG PUN FOREVER and yet he will let the mans family struggle. Thats not real thats hoe shit. He is still making money off of Pun's fame and its not right to rep him in a video where you are poppin bottles and wearing furs. How do you think those kids feel when they watch that shit? Maybe she put that tape out to cash in its obivious she is desperate for money shit she's selling his chain on fucking e-bay.

Posted by: Teedy at June 30, 2005 02:15 PM

Cook Coke Crack is already a legend. How many Mc's been in the Game 13 years and still making hits? Hell 50 cents sells more records than anybody ever and he still feels threatened by Fat Joe.

Posted by: Ghetto God at June 30, 2005 11:28 PM

FAT JOE AIN'T NO GOD DAMN LEGEND OUTSIDE OF THE BRONX. HE AIN'T BEEN MAKING HITS FOR 13 YEARS. HE'S BEEN IN THE GAME FOR A DECADE PLUS, BUT ONLY BEEN MAKING HITS SINCE 2001. HIS FIRST BIG RECORD WAS THEM GARBAGE SONGS "WHAT'S LUV" WITH ASHANTI AND "WE THUGGIN'" WITH R. KELLY. 50 AIN'T THREATENED BY JOE, HE'S JUST IRRITATED.

Posted by: THA ARSINIST at July 1, 2005 03:29 AM

we be betta off wiv out joe, dick cant do shit YA HERD! We got stars now like 50, luda, kanye, outkast hell even 2 pac still in da buisness.

Posted by: idiot at July 1, 2005 07:52 AM

Teddy:

Lets deal with facts. Its a fact that Pun's wife put out a DVD clearly dissen him, with the title: Big Pun: Still NOT a Player. A wife thats not scandalous wouldnt do such a thing - FACT. I mean, dude was pistol whipping her for a reason. Not saying that what he did was right. Then she never came out with ANY of this stuff while he was alive.

Secondly, yeah, they were friends, but you act like Fat Joe and Big Pun were childhood friends. They only knew each other for a FEW YEARS. And in no way is he supposed to be giving her money on a monthly or yearly basis. Those arent his seeds. And dude has tried to help out their family.

Joe has done a lot for inner-city communities. He just laced a community center in the BX with a full room of brand new computers. There's more to the Joe/Lisa story. And theres 2 sides to every story, then the truth. I wouldnt take Lisa (pun's wife) story as gospel either.

Posted by: Fakts at July 1, 2005 11:49 PM

NO WOMAN EVER DESERVES TO BE BEATEN OR PISTOL WHIPPED. I LOVE PUN AS AN ARTIST, BUT IF HE DID ALL THAT SHIT SHE CLAIMS THEN NO HE AIN'T A PLAYER. I DON'T CARE IF SHE FUCKED PUN'S BROTHER, IT WASN'T LIKE PUN WASN'T OUT THERE FUCKING MAD GROUPIES AND SHIT. HE CAN CHEAT ON HER BUT SHE CAN'T DO IT BACK? THAT'S NO EXCUSE TO BEAT HIS WIFE. PUFFY AND BIGGIE WEREN'T CHILDHOOD FRIENDS EITHER, BUT DIDDY IS MAKING SURE B.I.'S KIDS ARE SET FOR LIFE WITH TRUST FUNDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS. IF IT WASN'T FOR PUN, FAT JOE WOULD BE JUST AS UNKNOWN AS SHOWBIZ AND A.G.

Posted by: THA ARSINIST at July 2, 2005 02:45 AM

remy's verse definetly stands out on lean back but joe and her combined on the hottness of dat song...i thought dat song was just a preview of what was to come on True Story...i was horribly mistaken

Posted by: u-neeq89 at July 2, 2005 07:34 PM

Thank you ARSINIST for saving me a lot of typing by saying everything I would have.

Posted by: Teedy at July 5, 2005 10:02 AM

I like Joe, he's finally getting the idea that unfortunately you have to make something to rock on the radio to boost your sales....Lean back was a hit , whether Remy rocked more or not..Joe got the credit....however he could stand to humble himself lately...50 did him a favor calling him out....I'm not a 50 fan but Joe should have taken it and run with it....instead he let Kiss's response out shine his (Joe's response was wack)......to support what was said earlier...there absolutely no reason to pistol whip a chick......you will almost certainly go to jail or hell, and not neccessarily in that respective order

Posted by: BiggNuff at July 5, 2005 01:48 PM

BIG DADDY X-KALIBUR, how can you say N.W.A., then say Dre, Cube and Eazy.....What about MC Ren? and DJ Yella?

DJ Yella did the drumlines, he helped pioneer what a westcoast beat sounds like.

MC Ren (and Ice Cube) wrote Eazy-E's lyrics. Both Cube and Dre have fame, riches, and are household names. Maybe if The Game said MC Ren's name, the fake N.W.A. fans will acknowledge him too.

Back on topic: Fat Joe is trash, Remy is worst.

Posted by: ALewis at July 5, 2005 07:34 PM

Ok this is how it really goes...
We're going to use Jadakiss, Fat Joe , 50 cent for this factual example..as to why people talk shit and argue with each other like two retards racing towards a brick wall to see who could get there first.

If you were to base an MC's skills by record sales:
1.)50 Cent
2.)Jadakiss
3.)Fat Joe

If you were to base an MC's skill by flow, punches, multis, etc:
1.)Jadakiss
2.)Fat Joe
9999999999999.) 50 Cent

Any questions? No, thanks.
peace

Posted by: Joe at July 6, 2005 10:45 AM

Peace Joe but major correction, if u were to base an MC on punchlines, No.1 will always be Chino XL!! You would also include Eminem and ol skool 50 (the one who hadn't been shot)circa how to rob, not new gunned up 50. Redman would also make the list, n so would styles P n Immortal Techniques. PAMOJA!!

Posted by: Odhis at July 6, 2005 10:56 AM

Fat Joe fell off pretty hard. How can he go from D.I.T.C. to rhyming with Nelly? That goes to show you that what an artist would do to sell a record. He's trash and 50 is too so they don't get no play on my list. The Game made G-Unit into a group of gangstas now that he left they should just go ahead and remove the G. Jadakiss responds to 50 was ill and Fat Joes was HUFF! Fat Joe is a rapper now and no longer a M.C. He's not even in the top 100 list.

Posted by: Lewis at July 6, 2005 05:28 PM

All he had is "Lean Back"! Everybodys CD's outsold his last. If it wasn't for Nelly it wouldn't have gone anywhere. He put Pun down and he even outshone him. Is he going to help out Pun's wife? Do anyone know?

Posted by: blackdiamondleo at July 7, 2005 03:46 PM

Terror Squad was Big Pun. Capital Punishment is lyrically superior to any other joint theyv'e put out. Fat Joe hasn't laid it down since D.I.T.C.

Posted by: kaz at July 8, 2005 01:41 PM

Come on now. Diddy only raised a cool $1 million dollars for Biggie's mom. Thats it! Thats all he did for Biggie's family. Do you know how much money Biggie raised for Diddy though? Milliiiiooooonnnsss. Bad Boy is what it is now because of Big. Everyone knows this. And Diddy only gave Big's mom some change. And by the way, Diddy got paid waaaaay more for all of Biggie's albums, including the new RE-RELEASES (RE-MASTERED) versions. Diddy owns the masters, etc.

Hell, if Diddy were really generous and had such a good heart, he would've gave Big's mom the masters (ownership) of all of Big's albums. And if not, he woulda given her way more money than just a mere $1 million (which didnt even come out of his pocket, he raised the money via concerts and stuff, what a crock).

Posted by: Diddy at July 13, 2005 02:11 PM

Yall kats say if it wasnt for Big Pun, Fat Joe wouldnt be known like that, but fail to realize if it wasnt for Fat Joe, none of us would know Big Pun too! Big Pun didnt have NO DEALS being thrown at him. NONE. Joe put him on and helped get him a deal.

Now in all honesty, if some DUDE you never knew before, gets your unemployed ass a job when they didnt have to, and later on you made a lot of money and got famous cuz dude helped you, are you gonna say if your ass died that the SAME dude who put you on is RESPONSIBLE to give money to your family?

Posted by: Comeon at July 13, 2005 02:20 PM

I just want to comment that BIG PUN is one of the best rappers of all time. Before Pun there were lots of Latinos in rap, Cypress Hill, Delinquent Habits, Frost, Mello Man Ace, Little Rob, Lighter Shade of Brown. Latinos have been around for the longest in the rap game. Latinos aren't given as much props as they should, but if it wasn't for so many Latinos buying CDs of other black artist then they wouldn't be making all that money. Now, there are newer crews out: Mexiclan, Akwid, Jae-P, Pitbull, Baby Bash, and Frankie J., among many others. Fat Joe is putting down for himself and is representing all Latinos. So, why is it that there aren't more Latina women being shown on videos. Majority of the time the women are black. I think as long as more and more Latinos put it down, more and more beautiful Latinas are going to represent. Don't hate on Fat Joe or any other Latinos who are rapping, because were still coming up, show love and support for their music. It's interesting how many Latinos buy rap cds but there not given love back in music or by showing more Latinos in music videos, nonetheless the tables are going to turn, anyone can't count on it.

Posted by: BIGRICK at July 15, 2005 03:16 AM

Fat Joe...Hmmm...Playboy used to really rock, but let's face it. Your either out to make money or your not.
We hip hoppers are so damn fickle,
un-supportive and opinionated. We never buy the the legend's albums, but
we praise the fuck out of them. Gang Starr doesn't go platinum...Many other great, true hip hop crews never go platinum or gold. True, Joe suck now, but I don't really blame him for trying to move units. You fuckers don't
buy real hip hop anyway.

Posted by: Shambino at July 16, 2005 12:29 AM

Shambino I respect true Hip-Hop brother! The last album that I bought was Common's. All I'm saying is how far would a person go to sell an album? In today's music you have to get shot, sing to already hit songs or dance like no tommorrow to sell a rap album. How can I respect Fat Joe for doing a song with Nelly? Nelly is not Hip-Hop he is Pop. Vintage Fat Joe was nice but not too many people respect real Hip-Hop especially when you have to be thugged out and exploiting BLACK and Latin Women to keep your videos in rotation with MTV, VH1, and BET(WET). The brother even did a liqour commercial so what are you telling the kids! Selling your soul for a few dollars in not worth it! One Love!
Free Assata Shakur!
Peace To Man, Woman, and Child!

Posted by: Lewis at July 16, 2005 03:30 PM

Rakim did a liquor commercial too! Common did a Sprite commercial years ago. And hell, Rakim has also done a commercial advertising gold/ice teeth for some website. Now are you gonna sit here and tell me that cuz Rakim did that stuff, he aint hip-hop? And who made you the judge of who is hip-hop and who isn't hip-hop? Yall peeps be buggin.

Yo Lewis its ya boy Doukies from Africa and again i support your opinion regarding Nelly and Fake ass Joe.These cats are in it for the paper nothing else.Nelly is a business man before he is a ''rapper''(more like a pop star he should be going to the American Idles or somthin)unlike realist rappers.Fat Joe what can i say about this man?The only person holding up T.S is REMY Agree?Joe be talkin about platinum records have he ever sold one mil?
Holla back peace,love,properity........

Pleeaze I know where you're coming from! I didn't by no means disrespect The GOD M.C. I was just saying that it hurted me to see him do a liquor commerical. A sprite commercial is harmless compare to a liquor commercial. We're talking about Rakim not Nelly or 50 because I expect that from them but not from the GOD M.C. Rakim is my G.O.A.T. M.C. but I wished that he didn't do the commercial. It's against his teachings of being a 5 percenter. One Love! Peace To Man, Woman, and, Child. Free Assata Shakur!

Joe is a legend, dude has spit alongside of some greats, BIG PUN and BIG L, and he been in the game for a long ass time. Only person I can think of off my head who has had a longer career is Uncle L. Dude was around before the WU, he got longividy. Cant nobody front on the Diggin In The Crates crew. Im not saying Joe is an ill lyricist, but hes not trash. Give a vet some props, before he smacks you in the head witta crystal bottle like he did Jay-Z

when the hip hop book closes, if it ever does they wont even have a chapter nor a sentence about fat joe or the error squad, trust dat

Posted by: 1thug at July 29, 2005 02:37 PM

1THUG I like your comments because for the most part your list is dope. You know that KRS and Kool G should be in the second and third spot. What about Common? One Love to you! Peace To Man, Woman, and Child!

Posted by: Lewis at July 29, 2005 10:30 PM

lewis, whats up? you have a good point but you have to factor in sales and influence, as well. everyone and there mother has stolen lines from the Rakim. KRS and Kool G Rap are high on my, and everyone's, list, but sales and longevity also count. many peeps don't respect bone thugs but they on the list because of sales and longevity. bone is the best selling rap group of all time, go check the figures for yourself if you don't believe me. common does not sell enough, that is not his fault, and his influence is limites -- again not his fault. common is a genius, but rap or anything is more than skills. he needs to have 3 more tight, classic albums to make mention on my list. "I'm not the run of the mill, cuz for the mill i don't run." --KRS

some people say B.I.G. was a better lyricist than PAC, perhaps the greatest of all time. I ask you, if Micheangelo only painted to paintings, regardless of their greatness, would one say he was the greatest artist of all time? Of course not. Biggie only was abler to make two albums, but PAC made many, and may still have a few more come out thanks to mom dukes and others. SO Pac gets the nod. You feel me?

Yo it seems like everybody dont listen to the same music that I do. Some dudes just cant be compared because they are just not on the same level. You cant rate J.o.s.e. as one of the greatest rappers of all time, but not one of the great ones at all? Come on, Dude been here for 10 plus years and worked with and been responsible for some of the best rappers out of NY. Everybody likes to get mad at a rapper when he makes a song and tries to get his paper but then the only support yall show is coppin the bootleg for 3$. Your opinion dont count, that shit dont add up to me. The same people criticising him making a song with Nelly is the same dudes saying 50 was wrong for coming at him for making a song with Ja. This is music, if it sells then somebody is buying it (and the one out the store).

If you want to just keep it real, then you cant expect to sell but so many records, if you want to sell records then you gotta limit how real you keep it. This is business.. not personal, never personal.

aight I neva heard the latest terror squad cd and I aint neva heard all or nothing. In my opinon the terror squad makes a few good club songs and thats it I lost interest in them when Big Pun died {he was a tight ass rapper} The only reason I look at their videos was to check out Remy ma not because of her rapping but because I wish I could fuck her. But anyways I do own Don cartagena and he got some tight songs on there and I also feel like Joe should have took advantage of 50 wanting to have beef with him and not just make one song he could have had more exposure he should have let terror squad beef with g-unit it might have got him some more publicity and record sales, I think Fat Joe just making bad decisions right now

Posted by: PainandDestruction at August 2, 2005 05:08 PM

1Thug I can't include record sales to be an important aspect in Hip-Hop because look at Hammer and Vanilla Ice. We can't label these guys as emcees. It's about the music that we use to critique emcees. It's easy to do what the next man is doing but it's harder to be creative and to have Originality. One Love! Peace To Man. Woman, and Child!

Posted by: Lewis at August 3, 2005 02:36 AM

I dont think that it was a bad decision for Joe to not beef with G-Unit, because he not a battle rapper. It might have been a good idea to come at 50 harder than that response he made but he wouldnt have no real help exept Remy, and I personally dig remy as a rapper, but I dont think she could hold Banks.

lewis, whatz up? poin taken, but record is not a criterion to be measured alone; it goes along with the others i mentioned: skillz, influence, sales, etc. skillz is the most important, but if people don't but the record, the mcee does not get the credit for their skills or receive recognition for their influence. lets be honest, "the bottom line is the bottom line." some else has said that, these rappers make music so people will buy the cd's, so sales is major factor, let's be for real. even the underground emcee wants recognition and sales, or 90% of them. people don't express their talents, and hopes no one take notice.

Posted by: 1THUG at August 4, 2005 08:59 AM

record sales do not stand alone lewis, read everything i said. vanilla ice and mc hammer are the result of hip hop's explosion into the mainstream, but as a general criterion, people will support what they like, and, in the majority of cases, like what is good. ice ice baby was a good song for whats its worth, and hammer has rhyme skillz, so don't hate on MC hammer. it's not traditional hip hop granted, but it is ok music. that's why it sold like it did.

Posted by: 1THUG at August 4, 2005 09:03 AM

lewis, where is the creativity across the board in entertainment? only a few people create, most of the music and movies are remakes of previous things.

hip hop is built on sampling so musically it is the equivalent of jack move. emceeing is built off the snapping (the dozens) and the rapping (talkin like pimps do). even what you call creative is built on previous knowledge, so remember that before you criticize something for being unoriginal. creativity is something that takes genius, it is easier to steal or borrow, that is why people do the latter more often. rakim and a few other unknowns put hip hop on the course that it is on now. his style of rhyming and the science of emceeing is what he brought to the game. record sales count, even common is trying to go platinum and comm is nice. the best work doesn't always generate the most sales, the most popular work most often generates the most sales. but many of the greatest lyricyst do sell lots of units my friend, and they still go unnoticed. and some of the greatest lyricist don't sell but get plenty of underground recognition, but the goal is to be above ground. lewis...respect...1 luv...1 thug...1 nation
