MR. IRREVERENT

"I love Hip-Hop; I just hate the niggas in it"

MR. IRREVERENT -

I Thought Remy Ma Was From The Bronx?

'cause her album seems like it's repping for Brick City!

Ma's album went brick selling a total of 75,000 copies. (If you think about it, that's 1,500 albums sold per state.)

Move over Knickerbockers! Ya'll aren't the only negros from NYC putting up bricks. If she sold a record for everytime someone saw her MySpace profile she'd be halfway gold by now.

NYC Hip-Hop - Stuck In The Mud

everybody-push.jpg

Before there was a MF Doom, there was Kool Keith - the father of the off-beat style is 32 albums deep - way more than Jay-Z & LL Cool J combined. You may write of Kool Keith as a weirdo but you have to give him credit for some of his futuristic insight on why rap music in NYC is stuck...

The Reading Is Fundamental Award Goes To...

The people that know me always ask me what's it like being so hated on. My reply, "I don't listen to most of them because the majority of them can't read anyway."

Really, it's true. I'd say only 10% of you actually read what I'm saying. The other 90% of you studder and stammer through the first few sentences, read that one line that sets you off and then you get all emotional.

People - it's just Hip-Hop.

Ghostface: Purist For Life

If it's one thing I hate, it's a HIP-HOP PURIST.

You know the type. The type that claims they make THAT REAL HIP-HOP and their style of hip-hop is so much better than someone elses. The type that feels if you didn't grow up on Eric B. & RakimSuperlover Cee & Casanova Rud or Biz Markie you have no business liking Hip-Hop.

The thing about these Hip-Hop Purist is they forget that THEY TO have skeltons in the closet.

The Powerful Busta Rhymes

To prove his street credibility Busta Rhymes is not telling anyone who shot his bodyguard Israel Ramirez at the video shoot this past Saturday.

"I think he knew something that he wasn't able to tell me," Lara Ramirez told The Daily News. "But that's up to him. That's his conscience. If he's a God man, like he swore to me he was on the phone, I think he'll do the right thing."

"Busta said he was there when it happened," Lara told The Daily News. "He said he would do everything in his power to get justice."

Busta also promised to pay for the funeral of Ramirez and said he would try to help provide for Ramirez's three children. What are funerals these days? About $4,000 - $25,000. He can make that money back doing a guest appearance.

St Louis Police Bashings and Beatdowns

Did you see that black guy get stomped out by four officers in St. Louis? It's shouldn't be shocking to you since this thing happens everyday in Amerikkka. Just a few weeks ago in Ohio, a 350 pound black man was beaten and killed on video. But back to the St. Louis beating...

If Alpo Didn't Kill Harlem, Cam Did

VIA MY 2WAY:

camron.jpg

Today, as I walk through Harlem, I see flags flying at half-mass and negros with their heads hung low. I ask one negro what happened and he said, "Cam'ron held a press conference to let everyone know that Jay-Z had something popping with Charli Baltimore."

I was in disbelief. No one with "Capo-Status" would send out e-mails and faxes to every media outlet to let them know such a trival fact, right?

Diddy's Unforgivable Ad Campaign

unforgivable_diddy_ad.jpg

The new Diddy ads for his Unforgivable perfume is hot. It's clean. It's sexy. It's almost artistic. It's something that models can be proud of.

Bronx Created Hip-Hop...

...but when you really think about it, they suck at it on a commercial level and artistic level. Seriously. If you compare The Bronx to other boroughs, it's seriously lacking.

Funkmaster Flex-ed His Hands On The Ladies Too

It's funny hearing Funkmaster Flex talking to Julia Beverly of Ozone Magazine about Benzino's wild behavior this week.

"I'm a little afraid, as you [Julia Beverly] just being a woman and the way he was talking to as woman - using the word bitch, slut and you know...it was pretty ugly." - Funkmaster Flex (listen to part 1, 2, 3)

The Voletta Wallace Think Happy Thoughts Word Game

In this weeks SOHH.com Feature, Carl "H.D." Chery interviews Voletta Wallace. Ms. Wallace is probably the most naive working Black mother on the planet. She says silly things like "my son never sold drugs", even though many of his friends say otherwise.

NYC Transit Wokers - Get Rich Or Die Trying

It's funny how negros will empathize with The Lox not getting their publishing, but can't sympathize with people of color not getting whats due to them. The Lox ain't built like a bus driver or a train conductor. Maybe the TWU should go on HOT 97 and start a FREE THE TWU T-Shirt campaign. It seems to be the most effective way to reach the hearts of negros these days. [Speaking of which, make sure to cop my limited edition FREE DAVE MAYS T-shirt.]

Now, I would have thought that our regularly scheduled chin checker of the media would be above the Jedi Mind Tricks of the media, but I see he's not built like that. He's just another working minority who has been successfully turned against other working minorities. So while he's on mental strike, I'll take over and check the media.

What I Dislike About Big Pun Fans...

I'm sitting here listening to Biggie Duets. It's not bad, except for the Julez/Jim Jones/BIG collabo to listen to while I'm working flipping these fries, spitting in ya'll milkshakes. But anyway, there is this one track Get Your Grind On featuring Big Pun and Fat Joe which bought something to my memory...

What is the hype with Big Pun?
