He's inconsistent.
He'll hit you with a hot song then a bullshit song. He only drops every other year and he get's no real push from his label. I actually compared him to L.L. once, except without the muscles and personality. The dude is sick though, if he let's his mixtape persona carry over to his album he could actually grab hold of a solid fan base.

Fab is a great rapper, but he does lack personality. Everytime I see him on t.v doing interviews, he is dry and boring. I really dont know why his career never went to the next level. Perhaps on this album, no matter how much the top rappers suck, he should collab a bit to gain popularity.

True Fab isn't a rap superstar in everyone's eyes, but he does sell platinum everytime he drops. He came out killin the mixtape scene and makes good songs. To me he is a rap superstar he just doesn't do what everybody else is doing. He has his own style and he should stick to his formula as long as he is sellin records.

The problem with Fab, is that he has NO story. Jay-Z has a story, Eminem has a story and so does 50. They have a story and you have to know how to market it. Plus, he needs to be more versartile in his mainstream raps. Jay-Z and Emine can rap about anything and have!

first thing he need to do is hop on as many other artist albums as possible from now til his next cd drop. While on somebody's track, make one of them bitch this, suck that type tracks with one of the raunchiest out there. Do something that get him on MTV and MTV2 to get some of the caucasion attention. And do all this within a couple of months so he name/face be in everyone's mind when his joint drop.
The Plan.

I love Fabo and I was thinking about this recently too, this is what I think is his problem.

1) He is signed to a small nobody label aka Desert Storm under DJ Clue who isn't promoting him properly or getting him out there. He might as well be signed on an independant label.

2) He doesn't have that flare, that style. He is basically a hot lyricist with no stage presence or no life around him. He is what Lloyd Banks would be if he didn't sign to G-Unit and get a cocky attitude by being around 50. Fabo is way too quiet and behind the scenes.

3) He has no crew releasing music non stop like G-Unit or DipSet so nobody remembers him after his 2 months on 106 and park when his album is first released.

If he fixed all of those things he would be a star. For right now once his rap career is over NOBODY will remember who he was. He will just be another rapper that has come and gone and won't be remembered.

Maybe he doesn't want to be a "superstar". Maybe he wants to push out a CD every now and then, earn some loot, and chill. He's a celebrity and he's quite paid AND he doesn't have to worry about getting shot or seeing his face platered in a tabloid. Personally, he's boring as hell to me, but people buy his music. Seems like he's living the American Dream.

there's something else, too, but i can't really put my finger on it--early on in his career, right after his first single, he was perceived by a lot of young male listeners as being soft or a ho's rapper, not a man's rapper. i don't think he ever really recovered from that reputation.

anyways if it was my call i'd say he won't be in the news five years from now. just doesn't have the swagger or hype of a biggie/busta/em/50 type.

What does it take in todays times for people to respect anothers career without saying what they lack. Does an artist really have to break down another talented music maker for people to respect them. Music is not the streets. First of all, Fabo does NOT suck. But the thing that hurts him is the fact that so many people rhyme like him - LLoyd Banks, Jadakiss, Joe Buddens. You can't just use clever punchlines and expect them to carry you through a career. A rapper, in order to be respected in today's age, needs to be able to switch up flo, content and style. I think the reason why his delivery sounds odd at times is because he's not confident when he's stepping out of doing what he does best, which is mixtape-type stuff. He needs someone to teach him how to write a song, rather than spit something you'd think was nice if you heard it on the corner. There's a difference between who can rap and who can make a good rap song. Think about Biggie, Pac, and Jay, those three can switch their styles and content without hesitation. Think of Biggie when he did "Notorious Thugz" and then think of him on "Juicy." Same dude, different styles. And that goes for Jay and Pac too. Fab, and a lot of rappers, need to understand that you actually need to earn your money and respect in the industry. He needs to work harder at making better hooks, stepping out of his comfort zone, and getting some confidence to try something else. I still think he would NOT be famous if his first single (You Can't Deny It) didn't have Nate Dogg on it. Nate Dogg gave him some flavor, but without that flavor, Fab just isn't confident in his own image to make it larger than music. He's a very talented guy, just not a great song writer. I think he needs to be himself, but just get more creative with his music. Right now, he's just doing his best Jadakiss impression, just with more style. He needs to talk about more real things, not just do things for the street and ladies. The street respects truth.

4. He's unsure of himself or kinda shy. In interviews he doesn't really come out and talk a lot, he like to keep to himself.
5. 50 is a good businessman but that is all he is. 50 is not nice his career is based on getting shot up. And he just brainwashes every with rushed songs and videos. It's like every 3 weeks there's a new video with him.
6. Fab signing to G-Unit would ruin Fab's career. He would just be another guy in the background standing behind 50 and that's not what he is meant to be.

I think FAB is a great rapper, just like otheres have said, mix tapes get u street cred, but those catchy r'n'b and hip hop callabos sell worldwide. Im originally from brooklyn but i live in London now, and here everybody knows FAB. And for an artist from the streets of Brooklyn to get radio play on Londons air waves u gotta be good. As long as the ladys love him thats the main thing, cos where ever the ladys go the guys will follow.
