Almost three years ago I heard the shocking news that Jam Master Jay was shot and killed in his own recording studio. Sadly, I'm not surprised that no one has even been arrested in connection with his murder.
I don't blame the police because it seems everyone involved in the case has been keeping their mouths shut. Are they following the no snitching code, or are JMJ's family and friends protecting his legacy from the blemish of drug related activity?
Who knows? The book, "Queens Reins Supreme" says JMJ was involved in shady business, while the family sasy no (read an update of the details on SOHH).
Though the Hip-Hop media may disagree with me, I hope JMJ's killer is brought to justice, but not if it means destroying the man's name. I remember Run-DMC as a pioneering rap group who proved we can go platinum without dreesing up in corny costumes and singing sugary pop songs. JMJ and his crew saved us from the fate of disco, for real. That's all I need to know about the man.

What I did hear, and continue to hear, is that Jay's Hollis Queens circle is divided, with some people taking a long hard second look at folks they used to pal around with. Anyone interested in sifting through the various theories might be interested in the final chapter of RAISING HELL (from Amistad, in stores now and a study of Jay's life and Art, not just his death). Where did this 50 Cent thing come from anyway? Just an online BS rumor (I hope)?

I spoke to the people I wrote about (with the exception of Jay and my sources for his part of the story are unimpeachable). I presented the truth, one reason Jay's foundation isn't beefing with me.
