the new kanye cd is phenominal. very soulful and creative. the beats, rhythm, lyrics, all worth it. foremost, its a different sound. every song is in its utter most uniqueness. i was surprised that most of the songs were mellow and laid back. a true underground sound. don't ask how i've got to hear the new cd.

The album as it stands is worth 3/5 - 4 (I heard it at the above listening session). Kanye mos def has production skills, but he's starting to have a 'Produce My Albums/Singles By Numbers' approach to his work. The high-pitch vocal samples, bass heavy kicks and sporadic bongo popping up from time to time are spread through this disc like peanut butter on a piece of brown toast. Every now and then, you caught a taste of some smooth ish, then came the typical Kanye sound. I even heard someone mutter 'I wonder if Jay-Z turned some of these beats down?'

But that's not to say it's bad! What Kanye does, he does best. He even tries his hand at a bit of singing. This will be a guarenteed seller because of the hype and already established fan base. Kanye is safe, radio friendly and middle-class acceptable. He's 'Cool'.

However, you'll have to define 'How Cool'.

yow man, i heard the cd, im a huge kanye fan, but the cd isnt better than the first one. Take my word for it, its kind of a totally different approach to me. His style changed and im not sure if i like it but although im disappointed in the lyrical content, the beats and the tracks are crazy, they literally jump out of the speakers, i think thats what he was aiming for and had to sacrifice something all in all out of 5 i give it a 4 no more. Maybe even a 3.5, because i love the skits and he has about 7 really good tracks that can be repeated over and over. Hey Mama is probably the Jesus Walks on the cd, i heard the song before plenty of times but its like he remasterd it or did something but it sounds great. All the tracks are like that, theyre all fined tuned and just clean. I personally dont feel like i can relate to this one as i could to the first one. I think he made the first one too good. Till today its the best cd i own. The CD is great its worth buying its fun comparing the two. He does that.

yeah i agree with everyone and SOHH is a dumb ass for talking about the food...its august 25 and the kanye album drops in 5 days...i've had this album for about a week now..and i dont think its all that great..he hasnt really gone mainstream with this album...still good but most definately wont top college drop-out.

This album is simply crap compared to College Dropout, I only like Touch The Sky w/ Lupe and the song with Common, Diamonds is cool too. Its just so annoying how overproduced some of the songs are. And "Hey mama" was a GREAT song on the boot leg. But on the cd he lowered the choir and put in a HORRIFYING eletric guitar, WHAT THE FUCKLE. It ruined the whole song. Im also pissed the track with brany has no snare, im like wtf?

Did you know the Mayor of New Orleans is a black man, who could have used New Orleans School Buses to evacuate people starting Saturday? The Hurricane didn't hit until Monday, idiot. It is common knowledge that the low lying flood prone areas of New Orleans are poor people and black, but this is from the Associated Press two days BEFORE the Hurricane hit:

mandatory evacuation was ordered Sunday for New Orleans by Mayor Ray Nagin.

So President Bush PERSONALLY called the Mayor and Governor and asked them for a Mandatory Evacuation of "low-lying" areas, which everyone knows the majority are poor black people. I have seen pictues of thousands of New Orleans School Buses under water. Why didn't Mayor Nagin do public announcements on tv and radio telling people in low-lyng areas that the city will pick them up in School Buses on every other even numbered street? That would have saved many lives. The decisions made by the state of Louisiana were made by Governor Kathleen Blanco, and the decisions made for the city of New Orleans were made by Mayor Nagin(who happens to be a black man, who was in control of the New Orleans Police Department). So if anyone gave the order "of shoot black people" it would have been this black man's decision not President Bush. I never knew were such an ignorant racist self-centered man until last night.

Just one question to everyone who has issues with Kanye's comment, have you every been to Louisiana? Not just to New Orleans but Louisiana in general most of the people there are poverty stricken not just the black people also the white people. Many of which were informed of the evacuation but had no means of fleeing. Kanye's comments were not ignorant he spoke from what was portrayed by the media."Black people commiting crimes like always." The issue is not what was said, it is what should have been done. Talk is cheap do something about it.(Kanye did!) Lives were lost and the blame can not be put on just one person blame yourselves for worrying about Kanye's comments and not helping those in need in Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas. I bought Kanye's album and even if you do not like his "ignorant" comment you have to appreciate the intelligence and deepness he exudes through his music. Proud to be a Kanye fan.
