It really hurts to read a few individuals go back and forth about who's black and who's not black. It's a shame we can't be human on this planet. The fact is we have more worries as inhabitants of this planet than most realize. Yet, as a lighter than the color black skinned so called American (LOL) I would like to add something. The African Diaspora is synonymous with the slave trade and I feel that it shouldn't be that way. The word diaspora from my understanding means the scattering of language, culture or a people formerly concentrated in one area or region. We, as humans, have to think about what this really means. The slave trade is what makes so many people who come to this land we call American from elsewhere, usually but not always ignorant to there own history, not want to be associated with dark skinned citizens of this land we call America. I've seen documentaries where so called black Africans would rather be considered an Arab man than what we know as a Black man. When I say Arab I mean the Osama Arab. I am very well aware that the black were more likely the first inhabitors of lands such as Saudi Arabia that are most synonymous with Osama like Arabs. I also read some where that Saudi Arabia can be translated as "Black Arab." Sorry for running on and on, but a fact of the matter is simple migration over thousands of years or even war can accomplish or satisfy the prerequisite for being define as dispersed. I feel that most of the dark skinned people in this part of the world share a similar heritage. The culture may be "labelled" differently but the struggle is the same. No matter the small or large land you were born. To me this is what we need to hold dear because those that made it possible for us just be were the best of the best, the strongest of the strong. Although a tragedy in itself, no weaklings made it to the New World. To be a part of all the accomplishments of so many that were made despite having everything taken from them make me proud. Whether you call me Black, Black American, Cotton picker or what ever I'm proud of the connection I have to so many across this world. Bottom line we have to be good to each other. We can not continue this way. I realize we are up against odds that are seemingly unfair (i.e. US Government policy). Nevertheless, we have to continue to learn about one another and teach others about ourselves. The lessons passed to our children are too important. You think because a person is from the Dominican Republic that they are not black, even if you can clearly see the presence of black blood. Latino is not a race; it is a heritage/Ethnicity! I met white, black, and American Indian Latinos. I am African American and this Latin chick was speaking to me in Spanish, because she thought I was Dominican. Saying that some who is of African lineage is not black because they're Latino is like me saying I am not black because I'm American. It is sad that so many of you don't know about the African Diaspora. You think England was the only country that made slaves out of Africans? The first country was Portugal, then came Spain (people from Spain are white Europeans not Latino, Jesus Christ!) and France. Spain had the most colonies in the Americas and therefore there are more Spanish speaking countries than English. Spain brought the first slaves to the New World (Hispaniola, modern day Dominican Republic and Haiti). So this means the Haitians are not black because they were a French colony? I know many of you have at least heard of the Amistad (because of the movie). Pay attention, because those black slaves were being brought to Cuba by the Spaniards, and the transportation of African slaves to the Americas was illegal at that time. So if Spain took our ancestors instead of England we would not be black? Look at how stupid that sounds.

Just wanted to add the fact that when the dude said there are not more blacks in the Dominican Republic than the U.S.A. he was right, but he should have explained it better. Blacks or people of African descent make up more of the Population of most Latin American countries than the U.S. The United States is way better than the Dominican Republic so the Population is way bigger. There is a difference between percentages and actual population numbers. So we may make up less of the population, but there are more of us here because the US is one of the biggest countries in the world, therfore more people and therefore more black people. Dominican Republic like many Caribbean Nations is so small that most of our states are bigger and the population growth problems have caused a lot of them to come here.

You see, i am from Lagos Nigeria, and sometimes, i feel like africans and african americans are so different. I think AJ and Free did a good job. I have no complaints about them. What I am concerned about is the quality of shows BET has. There is more to life than videos. They need after school movies showing about, drugs, teenage pregnancy,safety etc... Also i would love to see a theater showing younger kids and teenagers doing plays so when they do try out for roles on broadway and Hollywood they will have acting credits to their name. We need a lot of educational shows on buying houses for the first time or buying stock, real estate investments, etc... I don't mean this rehearsed television, buy the book deal for 199.99. Sometimes a little free information goes a long way. I could't afford all the research that i needed when i bought my first home,nor was i able to understand all the legal formalities, so that left us pretty much on our own and we got a bomb deal on a house. ok i was reading all the dislike towards julissa marquez this girl is not 100 % black! not everybody from dominican republic is full black she is a good example of mix of race black, native of american, and spaniard (white)so what is the big deal...( some people with mixes like..this some come out lighter , darker, more black features or whiter or native americans she is good looking ,i'm sure she is a nice person.. so what!maybe she is closer to her black side of the family maybe not! who cares are we going to star telling people you can work here or not cause of your race or mix people should party here .. lets not be like crabs and walk backawards foward is the only way to go .. good for her she is able to work and be someone let's embrace it no matter what color we are lets not be silly

I think that 106th & Park will never be the same now that Aj and Free left. For one Free was a dime, she has the ultimate body. But she was also cool as hell.
