Blogger Cherryl Aldave believes that Allhiphop.com may have plagarized her work. I looked over the details and it sure does look like they stole from her.
This is not a good look for hip-hop journalism. And it's not rare either. Don't forget that
- Vibe stole a cover idea RWD
- Rap.About.com stole from blogger Clyde Smith
- The Fader lifted stories from Government Names
- Rap News Direct took photos from blogger Jay Smooth
This is hip-hop. No biting allowed, people.

I think that first link should be to Cherryl's blog entry, no?
Biting is at an all time high in the game right now. The internet has change hip-hop forever, so this type of shit is bound to happen. If you browse from one site to the next, you gennerally get the same information, either para-phrased or a plain word for word cut and paste type of shit.
WHO THE FUCK CARES....IT'S NOT LIKE THEY'VE BEEN LICENCED AS JOURNALIST....BITING AND BOOTLEGGING ARE HIPHOP'S BEST PERFECTED SCIENCE

how sad is that
all you fools are so quick to criticize, but if you hate SOHH so much why don't you eat the trash you have the nerves to call comments and get the hell outa here.
You fools sound like magazines like Vibe or XXL are all that. Fact is it's 90% bullshit packaged so that dummies like u can have something to say, or complain about...
The fact is Hip-Hop journalism has been run by young men and women. There are no Tom Brokaws and Matt Drudges in the game. As a young journalist myself, I have very few people to look up to and learn from. This is one of Hip-Hop journalism's weakest points but only time and patience can really do anything about it. When the young writers at Vibe were covering the East/West escalation and Big and Pac, they had no idea about the ramifications of their work. They did not see how serious this game is to be taken. Even with no blood being shed, a poorly written article can damage not only the magazine or publication, but it can destroy Hip-Hop as well. When a journalist is quoted, he will be quoted by source or site, and because the media likes to glorify and simplify, it will most likely add the title "Hip-Hop journalist." I remember when KRS stated merely that Americans would be ignorant to not expect something like Sept 11. He did not condone the terrorism but stated that it was a good wake up call. Next day, on a website with more than 1,000,000 viewers daily, the article is on the front page with the headlines, "Rapper says Sept 11 was good for America." KRS was burned alive by that article. As Tommy (CEO of HipHopDX) said to me, "It's not about good it's about the numbers. I don't give a fuck who's on the front cover as long as i'm getting clicks." That's the game some people play. That's not to say that some sites aren't credible or even to say that DX is not credible because I've seen some great writing come from that site. Just something to think about.
if you post on a blog, you lost :td
for pretending anyone takes AHH or SOHH seriously as "journalists", you lost :td
AHH > SOHH
U :mad ?
"Real Journalist dont beef in blogs"
1. real journalists don't steal, otherwise they wouldn't get they shit exposed when they fuck up.

sohh is whiter then me and coke put together
listen... fact of the matter is, you guys are just journalists in your own mind, your credits will never count for anything because there is absolutely no money in e-journalism unless you are the owner of the site and you are getting ad revenues, you dont copyright your shit you just have blogs and since u're 34 years old you wanna act like the time you are wasting online is some sort of attribute to self-worth. if you think your shit is so legit, why dont you sue allhiphop.com. fact of the matter is, allhiphop.com is the biggest hip-hop site in the world and what the fuck is wrong with publicity, its a cycle that you should appreciate and not hate. thats hilarious i've never heard of someone being mad that news got to the mainstream. dont you know that radio jockey's read allhiphop.com for their rumors and news. you are an idiot, and you should kill yourself or deal with this.
"you dont copyright your shit you just have blogs"
Many bloggers do copyright content. in fact, the act of actually writing the document automatically copyrights it. ie, you write it, you own it.
"if you think your shit is so legit, why dont you sue allhiphop.com."
this is not about money. i wasn't getting paid for the piece in the first place. it was a favor for one of the artists. but how would you like to be working on something, putting your time into it, expecting that it would be published, only to go to the site and see someone else's name on what is basically an edited version on your piece?
that IS WHAT HAPPENED. the writer told me himself it his job to "turn press releases into stories" and he thought my story was a press release. he then reworded it, put his name on it, DID NOT CHECK SOURCES, then they posted the piece.
what if this isn't the only story allhiphop did not check sources on. what if they steal from other writers?
AND, if they just rewrite press releases, then why hire writers? why not just be like a big hip hop press release filter and print the releases in full. That way more people can actually get in contact with PR people, for stories they might be working on, and the PR people who write the releases can get credit.
if they are just recycling press releases and other people's articles then they might as well just post press releases and say fuck the stories.
"i've never heard of someone being mad that news got to the mainstream."
again its not that the shit got out, its that i was expecting one thing (my article to be published and credit for my writing) and got another (a rewrite of my article with another person's name on it.) you wouldn't want to go to work expecting your check for YOUR WORK only to have your boss give that shit to somebody else? this is not THAT serious but damn, your word is your bond and mine were stolen, point blank. i am not the one to blame because i call jigs out who fucked up.
"you are an idiot, and you should kill yourself or deal with this."
you should kill yourself but you probably don't have the balls. how can you? you won't even post under you real name. peace. cherryl aldave.
listen cherryl with 3 r's , i'm just being real with you and clearly you are putting up a front so hard that you are convincing yourself of many irrationals about yourself or your life, fact of the matter is it was 600 words. come on you took first year english at school i'm sure, 600 words? come on champ, 600 words is like a intro thesis to a dissertation, i know you got it twisted cuz most of your readers are weakminded people that look to you for aspiration and me doubting your journalistic merit is putting a damper on your e-reputation, but c-murder aint shit, his movie aint shit and your point of view on this particular issue is so misguided, i dont even know your work i only got this article sent to me by someone, but look who the fuck cares about c-murder? hes in jail b, he can't even look at his bank statements much less guide a film's production. i'm sure you think hes a great industry contact but hes fallen off and if you associate yourself and your level or importance in the game to him you lost hard. come one keep replying i'm just trying to help you out, reach for bigger and better things, sky's the limit yo
drove
the winner even in anonymity
(sighs). can't u read? it' 2 R's.
the issue is not c-murder, or whether or not anyone digs him or this movie. the ISSUE IS that allhiphop made a mistake. greg manned up and admitted that shit in SEVERAL emails to me, yo.
and what did you win? this wasn't a contest. it was one person (me) bringing to the attention of other writers an issue that could potentially hurt what all of us try to do offline, online, wherever.
allhiphop fucked up. no, they don't deserve to be beat to death for that shit, and i haven't had anything else to say about this to anyone cuz to me the issue is dead. but THEY are the ones who made the mistake, not me.
and yes, it may have been 600 words, but greg DID NOT GIVE ME A WORD COUNT when he said i could send the article to him. and besides, WHAT ARE EDITORS for??
also, i'd never written for allhiphop before, which is why i requested writer guidelines from greg when i turned the piece in.
bottom line: allhiphop fucked up. greg admitted it SEVERAL times. must i post the emails? please let this rest. peace.
AllHipHop & SOHH are basically all I have left. LET EM ALL STEAL
I stopped reading The Source & XXL.& Vibe is Just TOO gay to even look at the cover
The only thing left is Scratch . . Which has more ADs than anything
And btw SOHH, you're one more Picture or Article about Common to run me away !!
all I know is back then they didn't want me. now i'm hot they all own me.
I agree with you the way you view the issue. I remember Jack London once said everything positive has a negative side; It is also interesting to see different viewpoints & learn useful things in the discussion.
