So hip-hop’s token Asian chick (Miss Info) got a big ass scoop yesterday. The Capo has officially left the graveyard and bounced to the majors via Sony. Jim Jones just signed a multimillion dollar deal with Sony.

“My boss is Rick Rubin and Hip Hop (Kyambo Joshua) is doing my albums with me. What you think Jay-Z is gonna think about that?,” he told her.

JJ just loves getting at Jay and what better way to get at him then to work with his people. Jay prolly doesn’t care but it’s good for entertainment. Apparently his new album is set to drop in 2008 with a Rubin-produced song in tow. Alas JJ has found someone who looks as dirty as he does in Rick.

“What’s crazy is that they gave me the same deal that Un and them f**ked up back in the day when they got the Sony/Untertainment deal,” he told her. “I got that joint venture, that 50/50 split, they don’t give those out anymore. That’s a Dame Dash, Ruff Ryders deal. And I’m bout to go crazy with it. I’m gonna be a problem.”

The one thing that relieves me is that JJ didn’t go G-Unit. At least the move to Sony gives a glimmer of hope that DipSet won’t die. To be continued…

Then came Jowell y Randy (1/2 of Casa de Leones), who went through some songs but everyone was just waiting for one “No Te Veo.” They also made some humping motions which got like two girls wet. Then the Latin rap god MC, Tego Calderon, pulled an alleged “oh my plane got stuck in PR” trick. But it was obvious the Afro-Puerto Rock was in the building. His performance was the best received. He performed with a live band (congas included), African-style dancer, with pro-Black images on screen. Great Tego ish.

MTV rarely does anything right so I give props when they do. MTV along with the Knight Foundation have launched the Young Creators’ Awards. It’s a way to push journalism in this new era of online media. They’re looking for kids (specifically targeting Latinos) with ideas that are “digital, innovative, news-related, timely, community-building and geographically-specific.” The one who does the best job gets $500,000. So after allegedly stiffing Bolivia (see last week’s entry) Don Omar is scheduled to perform in front of a bunch of fake T&A. The event will be hosted by thick ass model Pam Rodriguez…this is one concert Omar won’t stiff people. Well, maybe just the Playboy bunnies.
