Goya spills the beans . . .
Dat Dude:
Check Omar Cruz in the new issue of Smooth Mag. When you’re through with looking at big asses read what he has to say. Here’s some quotes: “Growing up, Cypress Hill was a group that I looked at like, ‘Damn, these dudes are doing it. And when Big Pun came out, that solidified that there was a spot for me.” He continues, “I don’t have a bunch of yes-people around me to tell me everything I drop is dope. I’ve had to rewrite songs over and over until I got’em right. That makes me a better artist and at the end of the day people are gonna appreciate the record because they’re gonna hear that quality.” And I heard personally heard that quality when I was out the City of Angels this past week. The homie LuLu (owner of BYI Entertainment) and Ever (hope I got that right) took me around LA as they played some songs off Sign of the Cruz. Will post the album preview shortly; only a couple of tracks but still worth it. Shouts to LuLu and the whole BYI crew.

Hump Day Hottie:
The always fly Eva Mendes graces the cover of Maxim once again. She’s in the new flick We Own The Night and shares some info on doing a sex scene with galletas. “It’s weird to see myself in bed with Joaquin [Phoenix] up on the big screen. I told my mom she has to come 15 minutes late. She wouldn’t live through that first scene—she’d have a heart attack. The poor lady would keel over in the movie theater.” Sex scene + Eva Mendes = Happy moviegoer.

Props:
Not only did BYI honcho take Goya around East LA (for a bit) he also took me to Mr. Cartoon’s storied tattoo shop. There I met the ink god and also broke bread with photog extraordinaire Estevan Oriol (don’t be surprised if duke directs an upcoming OC video). The shop was like the D&D Studios for tattoos (if ya don’t know do ya homework). Pics of tatted artists (50 Cent, Cypress Hill, Em,) pics of chicks, exotic rides, etc. Much props to Estevan, Cartoon and the entire Joker movement.

Ritmos:
Non Phixion were probably one of the illest groups of the past 10 years. You prolly didn't know that half of the quartet were Latinos. Take for example Sabac Red; the dude has Italian roots but also is a rockin’ Rican. So when I heard he was dropping a new solo joint I had to support. Pick up his The Collabo Collection Vol. 2 at fatbeats.com.

Grab The Mic:
Wanna get the chance to rhyme with a rap legend? Of course you do. If you got the skills then B-Real wants you. The Hill MC along with The Audio Hustlaz are looking for fresh voices to collaborate with for the upcoming B Real and The Audio Hustlaz Present: The Harvest. Email brealstheharvest@gmail.com with a link to your music page.

I don't understand the big buzz around Omar Cruz. I've heard a couple of freestyles and he's ok. Not on Joell Ortiz's level though. And, I'm down south so I ain't got no bias for either. Has this guy made one solid song? By himself??.
