Latinos Stand Up!

Goya Flavored Wednesdays

Goya spills the beans on . . .

Doz Dudes:
Wisin y Yandel are back with Los Extraterrestres to drop on Nov. 6. Expect more chart-topping hits and more reggaeton anthems for this dynamic duo. Their new single is called “Sexy Movimiento” and check out the pair discussing their new LP here: wisinyandelpr.com. Where’s “Rakata” Part 2! Holla with that ish.

Hump Day Hottie:
Like you needed another reason to heart Shakira? La colombiana donated $45 million to both Peru and Nicaragua, countries which were devastated by recent natural disasters. The money will in part come from the Latin America for Solidarity Foundation (ALAS), a philanthropic organization Shak co-founded legendary author Gabriel Garcia Marquez. If that wasn’t enough she donated another $5 million towards health and education in four Latin American countries. If only all our big stars had big hearts like this chick. Nuff respect.

HDH Extra:
For those who don’t know Noelia, she’s a Puerto Rican pop singer who has recently made her on-screen debut (via a sex tape). Being that this is a PG-13 site we can’t show the video here but we can tell you France’s version of Maxim named her the hottest chick in the world, or something like that. Check her out for yourselves.

Ritmos:
So Termanology’s homeboy/DJ Statik Selektah is gonna drop a full-length album, Spell My Name Right, according to xxlmag.com. The white boy’s got love for Latino rappers…pause. Below are the tracks SOHH Latino cares about. It’s out on Nov. 6.

WTF?:

If you missed this funny clip from the always hilarious Daily Show, here it is. Jon Stewart interviews Bolivian prez Evo Morales, you know one of those dudes Bush wants you to hate. At least at of all of them (we see you Hugo) Evo is the only one who hasn’t been suspected of killing anyone.

Props:
MTV rarely does anything right so I give props when they do. MTV along with the Knight Foundation have launched the Young Creators’ Awards. It’s a way to push journalism in this new era of online media. They’re looking for kids (specifically targeting Latinos) with ideas that are “digital, innovative, news-related, timely, community-building and geographically-specific.” The one who does the best job gets $500,000. For more info go to Young Creators’ Award.

  • WORD EVO WORD!

Castro, Chavez, and Evo...The axis of reformation and change for Latin America's opressed. Castro helped blacks in Cuba and Evo and Chavez will help the indians. Don't argue with ya boy cuz I visited these countries during college and they are changing for the best unless you were a white rich and selfish latin american...His message of racial and international unity is good. Damn it feels good to be pLATINum
