Goya Flavored Wednesdays

Goya spills the beans on . . .

Dat Dude:
It seems like Malverde is getting more and more love. The duke has been nasty since he came out and as Election Day approaches, he is definitely an artist who has some views on our country’s current state. Below is a video from last year’s Immigration March. It shows him repping muf***in hard. Hey Mal, where’s the album?

Pitbull Rhymes With A Legend

This is a lil' old but I just peeped it yesterday. Check Pitbull spitting a remix version of Gloria Estefan's "No Llores." Glo is a legend in the Latin music scene and a god among Cubans. It's only right that el cubanito Pit linked up with her. Who cares if her hubby has a monopoly in the Latin genre? WPs do it all the time.

The D.E.Y. Is The New Little Brother (Hopefully Not)

The D.E.Y. are getting some nice industry buzz which in the end doesn’t translate into record sales (ie: Little Brother). Yet, they are much like LB a solid and talented group always up to try new things. In the latest issue of GIANT my scribe comadre Celia San Miguel interviews them on their upcoming album, living together while recording and dabbling in reggaeton.

Lumidee Passes On By, Goya Does Shots

Damn, didn’t Lumidee drop a new video like last week. Either way below is the new clip for “Passin Thru,” a heartfelt song about her pops, etc. The video was done on the cheap but doesn’t look that bad.

Rising Dominican MC, Feel The Noise Quiz

So my homeslice D. Lo of Entertainmentonfire.com (I know long ass name for a site but hey it works) put me onto this Dominican MC Sol-Leks. He has nice lil’ street video for his track "Washington Heights,” which is you guessed it a tribute to the Manhattan neighborhood. Yes, it looks like it should be on Public Access TV but I’d still rather see this than rappers with riches and b**ches. Well, maybe some b**ches.

Jim Jones, "Right now Dipset is at a standstill"

Jimmy J let allhiphop.com know the deal on a couple of thangs. But of course he’s still dancing around the real answer when asked about the Cam situation. It’s like he’s dying to say “F**k Cam” but he doesn’t let it out. Let it out, bruh, let it out.

A Song Dedicated To Crack Heads, Feel The Noise Quiz

Shoot if potheads have tons of songs dedicated to them why not crack heads, right? But on the real this new artist Big Lou (Street Sweepers) actually has a deep song out called you guessed it “Crack Head.” The video was done by Mr. On My Grind director Rik Cordero. The song is very introspective and heart wrenching; not the usual ish you’d expect from an up-and-coming artist.

Goya Flavored Wednesdays

Goya spills the beans on . . .

Dat Dude:
Terror Squad
, err, I mean Fat Joe inked a two-album deal with KOCH for TS. Don’t expect any street classics tho as all of you know it’s never been the same again since Pun passed. Remy’s gone. Cuban’s banished. And if you see below; well there will never be another song like that and that was all BP.

Joell Ortiz, Smif-n-Wessun Stomp Thru BK

Grimy Brooklyn bulls**t at its finest. Smif-N-Wessun tagged Rock and Joell Ortiz for their video for “Stomp.” The one thing you can consistently say about JO is that duke has a genuine love for this rap ish. He has a Kool Aid smile in almost every video he’s in. Like I love what I’m doin’.

And another bangin’ ‘hood video from Tres Coronas. This one is for “Mi Tumbao,” which samples “La Murga” and sounds like the soundtrack to a dope house party in Jackson Heights. Latin hip-hop at its finest.

As promised here's the second part of the exclusive preview of the Latin Lyrical Assassin's album. He has one joint he attacks all the posers, cats that have taken LA Latino culture and made it their own. Please stop frontin.

Tego Calderon Serves Up Drinks, Knowledge

Even if his label doesn’t support him, you definitely should. Below is Tego’s video for “Tradicional a lo bravo,” a dope clip where Tego plays bartender and shouts out various Colombian cities at the end. Holla. Props, parcero.

Fat Joe, Weezy Prime To Bumrush Fiddy, Feel The Noise Quiz

If last year’s “Make It Rain” was any indication then Lil Wayne is Fat Joe’s lucky charm. He must’ve cut off one of his locks for luck and to control Weezy’s decision to appear on his next album. Or maybe Weezy is just a freelance whore. The latter seems more accurate.

EXCLUSIVE: Omar Cruz Album Preview Pt. 1

So last week I was in L.A. for some biznass, and BYI boss LuLu and Ever took me around town. While in their car they bumped a couple of Omar Cruz tracks off his upcoming album Sign of the Cruz. Don’t wanna sound bias but the shit was pretty on point. Just off the tracks I listened to, which bare in mind aren’t mastered, etc., I’d give it a 4/5.

Goya Flavored Wednesdays

Goya spills the beans . . .

Dat Dude:
Check Omar Cruz in the new issue of Smooth Mag. When you’re through with looking at big asses read what he has to say. Here’s some quotes: “Growing up, Cypress Hill was a group that I looked at like, ‘Damn, these dudes are doing it. And when Big Pun came out, that solidified that there was a spot for me.” He continues, “I don’t have a bunch of yes-people around me to tell me everything I drop is dope. I’ve had to rewrite songs over and over until I got’em right. That makes me a better artist and at the end of the day people are gonna appreciate the record because they’re gonna hear that quality.” And I heard personally heard that quality when I was out the City of Angels this past week. The homie LuLu (owner of BYI Entertainment) and Ever (hope I got that right) took me around LA as they played some songs off Sign of the Cruz. Will post the album preview shortly; only a couple of tracks but still worth it. Shouts to LuLu and the whole BYI crew.

Crazy Legs, "Hip-hop don't need to be saved"

With all the Hip-Hop Honors news last week I started seeing more press on pioneers. One cat that’s been doing it for Latinos for years is Crazy Legs of HHH honoree the Rock Steady Crew. He recently caught up with the cats over at [Sí] Entertainment and he had interesting things to say.

Joell Ortiz and Jay-Z Share More Than BK

Check the ill video for Joell Ortiz’s “125 Pt. 4 (Finale).” It’s a visual love letter to any and all hood NYCâ€"from the trains to the basketball courtsâ€"it’s all love. Shouts to Rik Cordero for another banger. One of the many lines that stick out is this: “I contemplated putting my pen away/But I don’t because muhf**kas did the same thing to Jay.” Ain’t that the truth.

Common Gets A F**k The Man Remix

Been telling you about this trio: Rebel Diaz. They stay on that F the man tip and Goya just eats it up. They recently remixed Common’s “The People” and transformed it into “Mi Pueblo (The People Remix)”. Check it here: myspace.com/rebeldiaz.

Don Omar Is Rusty, Feel The Noise Reggaeton Quiz

Does he look ridiculous? Yes. Is this just a waste of time… basically to bide him time until he drops new ish next year? Yes. Reason to put it out: dinero of course. His label or Don Omar himself decided to release King of Kings Live edition on Oct 23.

Dr. Dre To Drop Joell Ortiz In Early '08

So I heard through el grapevine that Dr. Dre is ready to drop Joell Ortiz’s Aftermath debut at the top of 2008. He’ll be putting Detox on the backburner (duh) and focus on releasing JO. Although it came from a reliable source, it’s still Aftermath and it’s still Dre. He doesn’t even produce that hip-hop anymore. He’s about expanding his reach. Here’s just a reminder why JO needs to be heard by the masses. Please Dre, please drop it (pause)!

Is Jim Jones Taking JR Writer With Him?

Is Jim Jones gonna take JR Writer for the Sony ride? Or is he gonna let him hang with Cam? Below is a clip from hiphopcrack.com that could put some clarity into the answer to these questions. Or maybe not? Just know this dominicano’s next album (Writer’s Block 5) is out on November and is “retarded.”

Goya Flavored Wednesdays

Goya spills the beans on . . .

Doz Dudes:
Been tellin’ ya that Tres Coronas is the truth but y’all ain’t listening. [Si] Entertainment caught up with Colombian rap duo to discuss their new album and how they ain’t in no shape or form down with Calle 13.

On the new Machete album:

“We’re going back to Colombia to go work on it because we want to incorporate Afro-Colombian and Colombian music with our sound,” said Rocca. “For the moment Latin hip-hop is Latin because you’re rapping in Spanish and because we’re Latinos. But the sound doesn’t have its own identity yet.”

On Calle 13:

“Calle 13 is Calle 13. Tres Coronas is Tres Coronas. We have nothing to do with what [those dudes do!] He does reggaeton, we do hip-hop,” Rocca told the site. “There is nothing, nothing, nothing similar between us and them! Not the music or the message.”

Check more of the piece here: Tres Coronas on [Si] Entertainment.

Baby Bash Is Number One. WTF?

WTF? Proof that good music doesn’t get heard and crapola make it to the top is here: Baby Bash has gotten 5.1 million views on MySpace making him the number one Latin artist on the networking site. Zuh? Apparently his single “Cyclone” has sold a combined 750,000 in digital and ringtone sales. Again wtf?

Kat de Luna Cuts Omarion

Oh Omarion! Yes I know your movie is sponsoring this blog right now but I just peeped that video for “Cut Off Time” with lil’ miss buttahface Kat de Luna and ehhh. Is it just me or is O that last cat you’d associate with the reggaeton movement? But hey I guess if it’s all about getting the word out, Goya’s down.

Lloyd Banks Disses Fat Joe, The LOX

Someone’s been the lab working. And that someone is Lloyd Banks. Yes, you read right. The half-bori is coming at Fat Joe and The LOX with this “Deathwish” track below. Where was when this beef was sizzling? I guess better late than never.

Pitbull Says "F**k TVT" But Still Releases New Album

Nothing has been said about Pit’s “fuck TVT” diss song. The label is probably gonna ignore it and view it as their artist just venting frustration. Just don’t f**k this album up…then you’ll really lose an underrated artist. Below is the album cover for The Boatlift due out Nov. 23.

boatlift.jpg

So hip-hop’s token Asian chick (Miss Info) got a big ass scoop yesterday. The Capo has officially left the graveyard and bounced to the majors via Sony. Jim Jones just signed a multimillion dollar deal with Sony.

“My boss is Rick Rubin and Hip Hop (Kyambo Joshua) is doing my albums with me. What you think Jay-Z is gonna think about that?,” he told her.

jj23.jpgrick-rubin.jpg

The last act before I bolted with Mrs. Goya was the one I had never seen and most anticipated: Calle 13. But between Tego and Calle there was an insanely long ass interlude. Calle 13 finally got on. Residente voiced his frustration with the crew in hand. Apparently, because so much time was wasted Calle’s performance time was cut.

rene_perez.jpg

Arriving at NYC’s La Kalle’s Third and allegedly last Block Party I was greeted by a lot of hoochies and lots of a**holes (guys with sunglasses inside). But hey it’s an urban event so it’s expected. The story here is that the concert itself was decent. Nothing to rave about but nothing to ish on. Just blah.

Goya Flavored Wednesdays

Goya spills the beans on . . .

Doz Dudes:
Wisin y Yandel are back with Los Extraterrestres to drop on Nov. 6. Expect more chart-topping hits and more reggaeton anthems for this dynamic duo. Their new single is called “Sexy Movimiento” and check out the pair discussing their new LP here: wisinyandelpr.com. Where’s “Rakata” Part 2! Holla with that ish.

wyy001.jpg

If you saw CBS’ Cane last week you know two things: a) the actress that plays Jimmy Smits wife just had her Quinceñera last year and b) they are going to milk some Latino stereotypes like falling for white girls (it’s just a phase), we all like to f**k, drink rum and smoke some cigars.

Tito El Bambino Needs Common's Style

Yes, his press shots or album cover don’t paint the prettiest pic of Tito El Bambino but hey we’re here to judge his music and clown on him if we must. The music is dope and that’s why his new album It’s My Time, has the SL Stamp of approval. It’s out today and below is a little video EMI put together to promote. PS: Tito maybe khufis are the way to go; you get to tuck in your ears and you get them fine-ass incense burning chicks (Common will tell ya).

Lumidee Brings Shaggy Back From The Grave

You know you’re in a bad shape when Lumidee has to bring you back. The Puerto Rican songstress featured Shaggy (Sean Paul is too expensive right now) on her new song “Feel Like Making Love.” Ehh kind of song but the story here is that Lumi is lookin’ kinda ripe…I said kinda.
